Civil parishes

Mind boggles

We have two categories, 'Mind sports' and 'Mental sports', which cover the same concept and should be merged in some way. I would say 'Mental sports' is for preference. 'Mental activities' (which we do not have) is somewhat broader in concept. 'Sports' carries a connotation of competition. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:49, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Mind/mental almost combined by removing double entries. For the others I think there has been too much sub-categorising. Category redirects for alt. spellings

Do we put up redirects for categories whose spelling varies in English/American spelling? In the article Cainozoic I mention the alt. spelling 'Cenozoic', and everywhere the English (and European) prefix 'Palaeo' is rendered 'Paleo' in the U.S. Example: Category 'Palaeozoic'. Category for Women/Females

We seem to have few categories for females, either under 'Women' or 'Females'. Should there not be categories under every country, such as American women, British women,&c. And which word should we prefer? Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:07, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Helping with a research project in Simplification

Hello Barliner,

I'm reaching out to you because I am working on a research project on simplification and am looking to collaborate with domain experts.

A quick introduction: I am a researcher interested in text simplification and am working towards publishing a resource in text simplification based on Simple Wikipedia (quite a rich encyclopedia). We believe this resource, which we will make public, could be valuable to educate and increasing awareness of text simplification.

Some colleagues and I are looking to collaborate with domain experts in the creation of the resource. We've secured some budget for our research project, so there's the possibility to remunerate a few experts that would work with us.
