Important question change

Why are you not an admin yet? You should be, and I thought you already were. QuicoleJR (talk) 16:00, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Then can you explain why I should be admin? This is not my first time to recieve questions like this, and everytime I ask back to them for further clarification but I think no one had a good reason. MathXplore (talk) 16:19, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, simplewiki could use more admins that deal with the QD backlog, and the anti-vandalism work you do would probably translate pretty well into admin work. Also, you meet every criteria I could possibly think of. QuicoleJR (talk) 16:24, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much. I think somebody said the same things before. I want you to understand that the works you have mentioned is not everything of Wikipedia administration, and does not require full access to adminship abilities. At least, eliminator or this is enough for the mentioned tasks. Therefore, I have no reason to believe that this can justify full access to adminship. In the past, I have seen many adminship requests at WMF wikis for anti-vandal works, I recognize most of them were rejected.
In addition, I only request permissions for technical reasons. Since I already have everything that I need, I have no further requests to the community at this moment.
By the way, I'm not sure which criteria has been satisfied by my works. Can you clarify them as much as possible?
I think your question has been answered, but if I didn't please let me know. MathXplore (talk) 16:36, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
That all makes sense. Sorry to bother you. QuicoleJR (talk) 20:51, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Apologies are not needed, actually your question at public space should be appreciated. I usually have these types of questions by mail and everytime I have to re-explain everything from the beginning, so this thread would make things easier. According to global policies, WMF projects with less than 10 admins or less than 3 active admins are considered to require additional assistance for anti-vandalism and non-controversial routine maintenance, so when our project is closer to such situations we may need to revisit this agenda.
For further reading, you may also want to read w:WP:NOTNOW. I hope this can help you. MathXplore (talk) 06:20, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

RfA change

Congrats on your Simple Wiktionary RfA, I'm sure you'll make a good admin there. I've said this before, but I will say it again - in the future, I do think you should consider an RfA here as well. You would definitely have my support and I think your VIP reports and QD log show very good understanding of admin policy. You do a lot for this wiki and I have no doubt we would benefit from you being an admin. If you need a nomination in the future, I am happy to offer you one. But for now, congrats for the successful RfA you just had :) --Ferien (talk) 16:31, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'd happily support as well! Philipnelson99 (talk) 01:11, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd be glad to nominate/co-nominate you for adminship as well. You do a great job here and I see plenty of occasions when you do need the tools. Congrats on the Wiktionary RfA! — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 01:17, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Dear all, evaluations are welcome, but I just started learning new things in this week. I would like to revisit this agenda after a reasonable amount of time. MathXplore (talk) 02:39, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think the tools would be of use to you, as you make a lot of good QD requests and VIP reports. Justarandomamerican (tc) 11:55, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I would vote for you to get the mop as soon as you decide you want to go for it. I hope sooner rather than later. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:15, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Starting many RFPs in a short term is a highly suspicious action (w:Wikipedia:Hat collecting), nobody needs to support such activities. Starting more RFPs need more patience. No patience, no RFA. MathXplore (talk) 02:55, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn’t consider it hat collecting on this wiki. We need more active admins since some of the older ones are on sporadically. I’m not trying to push you, just know you have my support when it happens. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 02:57, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
And in case you aren’t keeping track here “This user has made a total of 165009 edits.” You have me beat but having that year off killed my number. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 03:00, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Neither RFPs nor Wikimedia projects are edit-count competitions. I know somebody who has more edit counts than me but is not allowed to join the admin team. Please see w:Wikipedia:Advice_for_RfA_candidates#Preparing_yourself_for_adminship and w:Wikipedia:Editcountitis. MathXplore (talk) 03:10, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have no technical evidence at simplewiki to claim that our current admins are on sporadically. This will need fact-checks. Thank you for the feedback. MathXplore (talk) 03:06, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Many users make a lot of good QD requests and VIP reports. Please also note that limited-purpose RFA candidates may be considered problematic. Please see w:Wikipedia:Advice_for_RfA_candidates#Preparing_yourself_for_adminship. This is not my first time hearing about this type of endorsement, please see User_talk:Dotdotcomma/Archive_1#Attack_pages and User_talk:MathXplore#Important_question. In general, repeating the same thing implies zero or little progress. If you have anything else to add to your statement, please feel free to do so and I'll take a look. If you have nothing else, then others or I have to add additional factors, but this means we need more months or years to get started. MathXplore (talk) 03:04, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Obviously, that's not all. You're a well rounded editor with lots of experience in content creation (what we should focus on), administrative areas (as mentioned above), and, most importantly, have a clue, have a history, and are not a jerk. I think adminship is a natural progression for you. Justarandomamerican (tc) 03:11, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your statement has been previously denied by many editors, please see special:diff/8603729 and Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Patroller/Archives/2022 (it is also noteworthy that the user who started this thread is also involved here, and I haven't heard why they changed their mind). Adminship can be a natural progression for many long-term active users, the remaining question is the reason. MathXplore (talk) 03:24, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wow! I’ll step out but here if you need me. Keep in mind though that was 2 years ago and a lot has changed or else it wouldn’t have been mentioned to you. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 03:39, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Time is not enough to invalidate all previous discussions. For discussions heavily depending on previous MediaWiki versions, deleted templates/modules, closed projects, etc. then time would be an important factor, but that is not the case in this discussion. Nobody has provided a compelling objection or withdrawn their previous statements. Therefore, the previous discussions will remain valid. If we are going to continue, we must start from where we left last time, and then we can move on to the next phase. I already know that things outside this project has changed a lot. But at here, I only know that edit counts just changed. If changes at here cannot be sufficiently explained, then we should assume that there are no changes. And for you...... change

If you do not already have it, I have a great one that shows next to the article title any previous deletions (it links directly to the deletion log, but if never deleted, it will not show).

I forget where I got it from, but here it is: User:PotsdamLamb/scripts/RfD_checker.js Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 20:42, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I usually use Special:WhatLinksHere or m:MediaWiki:MoreMenu.import.js for a faster reach to (deletion) logs and RFDs. Your script can be helpful for me. Thank you for the information. MathXplore (talk) 01:29, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Anytime! I find it easier because it pulls the log right up. It only works if the article has been deleted. I’ll have to look into RfD one that would search through our archives to see if it was ever nominated. Technically it should be on the talk page but the admins tend to delete both instead of leaving the talk page intact with the RfD info on it. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 01:48, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

User pages change

Hey when someone gets blocked or locked please do not request deletion of the user page. They are being tagged and thrown into certain categories. For instance the one you just did was globally locked so I template it so it goes in the right cats. Thanks! Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:08, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Revisions including attacks etc. should be hidden. Tagging can be done once all problematic revisions are cleared. About this matter, not all of us have agreed with your methodology. I suggest you discuss your plans with the wider community. MathXplore (talk) 06:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is the standard that was dropped. It’s also part of a bigger project being completed that does not involve the community and admins are aware of it. The post GRP made isn’t out of the norm and probably won’t be hidden as it’s not attacking anyone. It’s his standard run of the mill rant which admins have not revdel’d in the past. I’ll restore the QD tag. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:20, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your quick responses. I do not aim to hinder your operations. I'm only asking discussions for any major changes to our deletion procedure and policy. Thank you for your efforts to comply with standards. MathXplore (talk) 06:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
In other words, I cannot believe that this can be an acceptable exception to halt the deletion procedure in all cases. MathXplore (talk) 06:16, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Maybe another script useful for you change

I came across one called vandal cleaner. You go the contributions page of a certain editor and you know they are all vandalism you press one button and boom, it reverts them all. If they started a page though you have to request QD (unless your an admin, you have a few other options like mass deletion through it.) If interested, let me know. I find it quicker than one by one. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:19, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I recognize several mass-rollback scripts like this one. To be safer, I decided not to use them. However, thank you for the information (I didn't know this one). MathXplore (talk) 09:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries. This is the main one I use for GRP and the U1 DB gang so they are all gone at once. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:00, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see, I usually leave GRP cleanups to our admins due to a related discussion (en:q:Wikiquote:Village_pump_archive_61#A_small_idea). Thank you for your cleanups. MathXplore (talk) 06:34, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah so basically according to our sysops (and I thought this was brought up) we use the Clyde as a honey pot and let him trash it there. If we don’t revert it he moves on so I do it there to keep him engaged and collateral low. I avoid enwiki. I use it for other other mass vandals too. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:40, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

VIP change

I am surprised you didn’t notice someone reported you as a vandal there lol. I’ve removed you from the report since they were blocked and locked. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:17, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I didn't have notifications here. Maybe that's how VIP works. Thank you for the VIP cleaning, but please also note that we are going to do that by bots in the future (Wikipedia_talk:Bots#VIP_Helper_Bot). MathXplore (talk) 06:20, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you are reported to VIP you won’t be notified. It’s useless to do so as it just begins an edit war. But you weren’t blocked nor would you be so it would still need a manual removal anyways since it’s a bad faith report. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:30, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand, thank you for your quick reactions. MathXplore (talk) 06:35, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The bot looks like it could go either way and I don’t think we have as many as en wiki does. Most of ours are the regular ones. I have found one that can auto block based on certain criteria too and am waiting on CUs to provide me feedback before I build and send it out for review by the community as there is a lot to consider as well as false positives. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:43, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Category:Locked global accounts change

An editor has requested deletion of Category:Locked global accounts, a page you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the page meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Category:Locked global accounts and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the page during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. --Ferien (talk) 19:17, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
