Hello, this is my second archive. Huji reply 01:48, 27 July 2007 (UTC).Reply

Hello, Huji/Archive 1, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! · Tygartl1·talk· 15:42, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! See my message on your talk page. Huji 17:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories change

The category Body Parts already existed and has a fair number of articles under it. As such, I did not think the category Human Body was needed and deleted it. I was a little quick to do it in retrospect and should have told you first. I did move your category Eye into category Body Parts. Let me know if you have any questions. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  16:01, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm fine with it! It was my mistake not finding the pre-existing category to put the article into it.Huji 16:05, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Protecting templates change

Hello Huji, welcome to SimpleWP. The problenm with protecting templates is the following: As they are templates, they tend to get used a lot; hence unnamed editors should not edit them. The stub-template, or the recent changes template are other such candidates. Generally, I tend to protect a page for a short period of time, once it has been vandalised a few times, other admins do the same. --Eptalon 10:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Archiving delete requests change

Hello Huji. I personally see no problem at all in a normal user that archives their own dleeltion requests. As we have the first of June here; I have corrected your archiving. I started a new section June on the archived page; also generally we put archived content on the top, not the bottom of the respective section. Thanks for your help. --Eptalon 10:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your request change

For the anon talk page change, I would suggest that you discuss the proposed change on either the page's talk page or on Simple talk. Maybe you could propose a vote or something. I personally am kind of neutral to whether or not it gets changed. Thanks. · Tygartl1·talk· 14:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sure. Hope someone will respond to it Huji 14:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chinese languages change

I'm confused as to why you have created Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. We have the article Chinese language. Am I wrong in thinking that there might be some better way to name these pages? English Wikipedia has these pages related to the Chinese language:

  • en:Chinese language, a language or language family that forms part of the Sino-Tibetan family of languages
  • en:Standard Mandarin, the standard spoken form of the Chinese and most commonly taught as a foreign language
  • en:Standard Cantonese, often officially referred to as "Chinese" in the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau in the People's Republic of China
  • en:Spoken Chinese, many regional variants of the Chinese language
  • en:Written Chinese, the writing system of China

What do you think about combining the information on both "Traditional Chinese" and "Simplified Chinese" into a new article called Written Chinese? · Tygartl1·talk· 14:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I just noticed these two items being listed on Special:WantedPages and created them based on the En WP article (interwikis are added.) These are not about chinese language, but about chinese writing. These are two types of writing a same language, as far as I know them (and I konw them very little). I think, we should follow En WP's way and have separate articles about them. A future conributor may make them more complete. Huji 15:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I agree with following en:wiki's way, which is actually one page called Written Chinese. If it gets too long, we could think about separating them, but I think this is probably the best way to go. · Tygartl1·talk· 15:44, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I will leave merging the articles for you. Huji 15:47, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki change

Please add more than just English interwiki to your new articles. This will save other editors from having to look over your work and add it later. I often keep another window open to English Wikipedia to make copy-pasting the interwiki from there much easier. It also makes it easy to add [[simple:Article name]] to the interwiki list there. Thanks! · Tygartl1·talk· 16:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I sometimes do that, and leave it for a bot to do in the rest of the times. However, I think I can change my style and add more interwikis more regularly. Thanks by the way. Huji 17:51, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moods change

Simplifying articles can be a very complex thing to do. Since I know how few people actually contribute here regularly, I did not want to burden the others with simplifying an article (That needs some background in maths). I will copyedit/sipmlfy the article myself eventually. Today, I don't feel up to par; I wanted to copyedit the rest of the salamanders, but only managed Alpine Newt. Oh well, hope, tomrorrow will be better. --Eptalon 21:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Very good articles change

Hello, I have indeed given the whole process a more formal appearance; Wikipedia:Requirements for very good articles is a guideline, that lists the requirements and the process. Wikipedia:Propositions for very good articles has the proposed pages; the respective pages can also be found in Category:Proposed very good articles. Templates have also been adapted to point to the respective project pages. So, we are ready to go. :) --Eptalon 15:53, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good job! Just there was a very tiny thing to say: Proposition and Requirement are not that Simple En words, as I find them.... could we replace them with something more simple? (I'm out of idea myself) - Huji reply 16:56, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Warning change

Thank you for trying things out on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it is now gone. Please use the sandbox if you want to do any more tests, and see the welcome page if you want to learn about helping Simple English Wikipedia. Billz (Talk) 17:29, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Warning change

You made the following edit to my userpage (Here). I don't appreciate you adding headline text to my talk page, thank you. Billz (Talk) 20:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your comment here change

If you'd bother to read my comments, I never said anything about there being no need for new sysops. Please make sure your facts are straight before posting such messages. Billz (Talk) 21:59, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify, I feel that my original message (Above) could have been taken the wrong way. My sincere apologies if you thought I was being aggressive or abusive, but I can assure you that it was not meant in that way. Billz (Talk) 22:15, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I didn't think you are aggressive, just a little harsh. However, I have experienced so many different people on different wikis, and I know you are acting within the range I call "appropriate". And regarding the comment I made on RfA, I removed that section which made you fell uneasy; nevertheless, I still think when you said "Same reasons as Tdxiang, sorry" there, and "it's an oppose from me on the basis that we need no more bureaucrats" on Tdxiang's request, it could be interpreted that you or applying the rule of "we don't need more" to Alastor's case. Perhaps I'm totally misunderstanding things; in this case, I suggest you make your comment more clear on Alastor's request, so others would never take it wrong in future. - Huji reply 22:19, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well my apologies if it sounded a little harsh and I assure you that it was not intended in that way. To clarify, I meant that we needed no more bureaucrats, as Tdxiang was applying for, but I opposed Alastor's sysop application for another reason. Thanks. Billz (Talk) 22:21, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
So please reword your comment on Alastor's RfA to clarify this. Good night :) - Huji reply 22:24, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I doubt it actually needs clarification since it was on a totally different application for a totally different position. Billz (Talk) 22:24, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Fine :) I'm fine with it then - Huji reply 22:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Same here, and sorry for any confusion. Billz (Talk) 22:27, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

My RfA change

You are welcome! I will try to vote on your next RfA, if I can - Huji reply 14:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alastor Moody and Farsi change

Alastor Moody would like to learn Farsi. Maybe you teach him some Farsi words. He probably wants to learn more than a few words, but Wikipedia is a encyclopedia, not something to learn languages, right? Panda Bear 03:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where did he express his desire in learning Farsi? I can help him in this regard by email or on chat. - Huji reply 18:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Click here and look for "This user would like to learn the Persian language..." He put up a Fa-1 userbox, so I asked him what "Hello" and "Goodbye" meant in Persian, but he said that he still didn't know Farsi. He put up the Fa-1 userbox up on his page because the "This user would like to learn the Persian language..." sentence was bugging him. Panda Bear 04:26, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Translation to Farsi change

"This user does not understand Farsi." Could you translate this to Farsi, please? Thank you. Panda Bear 06:05, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mother language change

What is your mother language? Panda Bear 01:21, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Persian, my friend! And if I where in your shows, I would plan archiving my talk page! :p" I think you mean "shoes?" And yeah, I think I should archive my talk page. Panda Bear 18:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Haha! You got that :D
"W" and "E" are next to each other, and that is a common typo of mine. - Huji reply 20:38, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Persian change

There is already an article called Persian language. Panda Bear 20:15, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've merged them. Thank you- Huji reply 20:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jusy saying hi! change

Hello, Huji! I just wanted to say hi and tell you that I think you're doing a great job! :) --Isis§(talk) 23:23, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Isis! Thanks for your encouraging me. You are doing a great job too! And... eh, I wish I could put more time on this wiki, but I currently am busy with out-of-wiki issues, and put the majority of my in-wiki time into Farsi Wikipedia (where I'm a sysop). I think I would be more available and help more in the mid-summer 2007, hopefully. Thanks again - Huji reply 07:41, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Hello" and "Goodbye" change

What is "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Persian? Panda Bear 18:06, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello = درود or in informal language سلام which is indeed an Arabic word.
Goodbye = خدانگهدار which means god saves you or something like that. You can use many other idioms instead as well.
Something else; we both know these questions have almost little to do here, on my talk page of an encyclopedia web site. However, I regard your eagerness to know the answer. I tried to email you the answer but you had your email turned off. You can email me though, as I have it enabled, or you can find me on vandalism simple IRC channel every now and then. - Huji reply 18:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't have an e-mail address, actually. Could you please provide the word in roman letters? Panda Bear 19:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and when I try to open the irc channel, a message pops up that says "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (irc) isn't associated with any program." Panda Bear 19:50, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Panda Bear, you should use an IRC client to be able to connect to IRC channels. There is an extension for firefox named ChatZilla which enables you to join to IRC channels without installing any other software. Install this and let me know. - Huji reply 17:14, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, forget the whole "Hello" and "Goodbye" thing and the whole IRC channel thing! Panda Bear 15:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've uninstalled ChatZilla. Panda Bear 16:11, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Revert summary change

You may want to reread the summary. It states "Reverted to" such and such version by Liam. It lists the last version it was reverted to, not the version which was reverted. My popups list which version was reverted to unlike the rollback button which states which edits were reverted (the other edits at that time) -- Creol(talk) 06:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Right, sorry - Huji reply 06:59, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Although, yeah it does look a little screwy.. It lists as "the revision prior to" as the revision I actually reverted to instead of the revision I reverted over. -- Creol(talk) 07:01, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you change

Dear Huji, I thank you for supporting me in my request for bureaucratship, which eventually did not suceed. Nope, I don't use the word failure here. Failure comes only when you fail to realise, when you fail to continue. It has been a great experience here and I will still continue my job here. I know, it's not that you disapprove of me, but it's that we do not need anymore bureaucrats. Sure, I'm open. I'm really fine with that. I'm sorry if my response came late. School camps and donation drives have held me up, I'm sorry. Thank you once again, you're a great friend!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tdxiang (talkcontribs) 09:34, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
