Hyphens and AN notice

Hello Michael. I'm not sure whether you're already aware, but there was a thread on the administrators' noticeboard concerning some of the edits you made yesterday. I'm sorry that you were not notified sooner, but at this point the thread has moved on.

Basically there were some objections to your page moves. Removing hyphens from titles may be just a change between legitimate varieties of spelling (for example – where I live – "mini skirt" is usually written as two words or at least hyphenated). Since we don't have a formalised system for page moves, we generally encourage editors to do exactly what you did (just move pages themselves, as long as there is a good reason for it and it's not particularly controversial). However, please just bear in mind that titles may be as they are due to a legitimate difference in spelling, or to a desire to be simple (breaking down words with hyphens where it is also legitimate may be seen as simpler by some). In those cases, a {{moveto}} request on the talk page should get you a response.

Mars

Hi. You asked what two things on the Mars page were. Frankly, I can't tell You exactly. As i recall, I was trying to import some pictures and went to the Wik/en help site and read that that was how to import pictures. As i recall, it seKimKdammers (talk) 09:13, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

I have replaced the two citations, but it would be nice if we could add some pictures, say, from Wiken/mars or /Curiosity. Obviously my efforts were no more successful than Mars-2.Kdammers (talk) 02:35, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Revert/Undo

Thank you for the revert you did on Overseas departments of France! I don't know how one of the user didn't see the vandalism. Santorum

Hello, Michael. As you may have seen, this page was renamed (moved) to Campaign for "santorum" neologism. The content has been also updated to reflect that the article is now about the campaign instead of the word. However, I just wanted to make a couple of comments about the original content.

First, please use a formal tone in Wikipedia articles. Words and phrases such as "tushie sex", "lube", and "poop" are not appropriate. Instead, you could use "anal sex", "personal lubricant" (the term used in enwiki), and "feces".

Second, when you make negative statements about living people (and probably even when you make them about dead people), you must give a source for them. In this article, you stated that Dan Savage Rick Santorum is a homophobe. It would actually be difficult to find a source for that. Instead, you could describe the things that make him a homophobe without using the word, and give sources for that.

Okay. I was just trying to use words that a four-year-old would understand. However, you are mistaken about who I called a homophobe. I called Rick Santorum a homophobe, not Dan Savage. In addition, there are plenty of source that label Rick Santorum as a homophobe, and I believe that it's common knowledge that Santorum is a homophobe. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 13:30, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I gave the wrong name -- sorry about that. As for your other comments:

• I don't think we have many four-year-olds reading here. In any case, we try to aim more for an eighth grade level.
• Even if it's "common knowledge" that a person is a homophobe, we don't use that kind of label. If there are sources using the term, they are the personal judgment of the authors and don't belong in an encyclopedia article. Presenting things that Santorum has said or done would give readers a much better picture of his character than using a general term.

The Princess Bride, and interwiki links

Hi, Michael. Thanks for your article on the movie The Princess Bride -- I love that movie! I noticed that you linked it in Wikidata with the enwiki article about the book. To avoid confusion, I did the following:

• Renamed the article here. Our articles don't have to follow enwiki's names, but in cases like this where there are similarly-named articles, it helps to keep them more like the enwiki names. That way, if an enwiki article that links to it gets imported here, the link will be correct.
• Fixed the Wikidata links so that our article links to the item for the movie.

Oh, I see what happened. Yeah, an article needs to be about one thing, whether it's a book, a movie, or a franchise, and it needs to be categorized and linked in Wikidata as whichever thing it's about. Oh, well, it's OK now.
