Kung Fu Panda

Just a reminder. Don't issue a warning to the user after tagging an article as QD. I know Kung Fu Panda was an obvous case for deleting, but other times it is not so. Best to leave the warning to the admin who actually deletes. It also means there will be no confusion about why a userpage already has a warning. -- Was it for a different piece of vandalism or the one that was just QD'd for example. Thanks -- Barliner  talk  20:09, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Will remember in the future. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 20:10, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Year pages

This is a small point, really, but when you create year pages, could you please place them in categories in this manner:

  • For example, the category on page 1266 should be written as [[Category:1266| ]]

This just keeps things clean and follows the standard I have set up for a large number of year pages and their categories. Thank you. · Tygrrr... 17:59, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sure, will do in the future. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 19:41, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yup, I'm familiar with categories. If I've missed any it's simply an oversight. Is there a page about categorization?

Not that I know of. Just make sure you put them into the appropriate categories. If you still need help, I would contact Barliner or Creol for more assistance. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

And thanks for fixing the typo. Guess I saw what I'd intended to write. adit 17:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories

Do you really understand categorization? The other entries under Category:Numbers are not all numbers either. Such as prime numbers. Any type of number or article about number belongs in the numbers category. adit 20:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have brought this to an administrator's attention. He will decide this matter. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 20:36, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Out of line

I think what you are doing in out of line. You are stalking my changes and reverting them in order to harass me. If you disagree, get an admin. adit 21:08, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Have, and you, as another editor, are supposed to wait until the admin resolves the dispute. Instead, you are adding fuel to the fire. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:09, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Here's the deal, you are not waiting either. adit 21:10, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am waiting; I am trying to revert your edits because you are the one that isn't waiting. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:11, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Understanding

I'd rather you take the time and interest to try to understand what my point is. adit 21:09, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've looked at the English wikipedia, and they have them categorized serparately, just as I've done here. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:11, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
As a matter of fact, they don't. On Wikipedia Integers is a subcategory of Rational numbers which is a subcategory of Numbers. For now, we don't need the intermediate category, do we? adit 21:13, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've already done such. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:13, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I will change my own pages myself. I do not require assistance in the matter. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:14, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's called "ownership". Nobody owns pages on Wikipedia. Any editor may edit them. I find your attitude about this offensive. adit 21:15, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Overcategorization

Another problem that arises with category systems is that if you put numbers in both Numbers and Integers, the Numbers category gets overfull and hard to use. adit 21:14, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Integers

I have changed the tag on Category:Integers from qd to rfd. I will not quick delete a category with so many articles in it, even if it is requested by the original creator of the cat. I would suggest discussing the situation on the category's talk page or post it on the RfD page and suggest an alternate method for categorization for the numbers currently in this category. I am going to suggest the same to A Ramanujan. Thank you. · Tygrrr... 21:44, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have posted a proposal at Category talk:Integers. I hope you (Razorflame), will come discuss there. adit 21:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories

I have written a brief proposed guideline on how to use categories at Wikipedia:Categorization. The basic idea of categories is simple. However, to use them in the best way for all users can be more complex. When I said that you did not appear to understand categorization, I meant the more complex part. I did not in any way mean to imply that you were stupid. I am sorry that you took it that way and apologize for my part in the misunderstanding.

I hope you will read what I wrote about categories and give me feedback if my writing is hard to understand. adit 22:38, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I already understand categories, so there is no reason for me to read that. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 22:33, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Integers

There is no reason for any integer to be in both the integer subcat and integer cat. This situation is the same as the "fossils and dinosaurs" problem we came across recently. I intend moving all integers into that subcat. Your QD has been cancelled and replaced by an RfD as a courtesy, but you have not furthered this.-- Barliner  talk  17:10, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I will post my suggestion for this whole mess at either the RfD or the Category talk:Integers right now. Please stay tuned for my suggestion at either of those two locations. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 22:32, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Everybody makes mistakes. The fact that you have accepted my explanation of the integers and numbers problem shows that you also learn. Keep up the good work, you have not ruined your chances of becoming an admin at all. Check out "The Resilient Barnstar" at WP:BARN. New pages

I don't know about the other admins, but I look at most of the new articles that are created, even though I don't mark it as patrolled.--Werdan7T @ 05:49, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

A lot of the 371 unpatrolled pages are your year pages. As I trust you not to be a vandal it is a waste of time to open up a new section and mark them patrolled. Like Werdan, I don't mark as patrolled all the pages I check because I tend to check pages as they are created rather than going through the log. When there is a quiet period some could go through the list, but patrolling only marks a page as having been checked and shown not to be vandalism so another admin doesn't need to check it again.-- Barliner  talk  12:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simplification

It's easy to simplify an article. Look at this edit for a reference. It's just a simple re-wording of certain sentences to make them easier to understand. This is actually very good for your vocabulary. When you "dumb down" a sentence it actually means you're finding synonyms for complex words and sentences and rearranging the grammar of the sentence.
It's very good for your brain, to make links between words and adapting a sentence to fit with different context.

Year categories

Is there a reason you created categories for years that don't have any pages in them? Yeah, I was categorizing them because the pages just said, for example, 99 said 90s as a category, instead of the correct category of 99. I was just categorizing them like the rest of the year pages. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 18:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course. But as you have noticed i have "matured" in my editing since, and you have to agree that indefinite block was a bit over the top.--Sinbad 21:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
You have matured a bit on here, but will that equate to a good change over on the English Wikipedia? I've read your block log over on the English Wikipedia, and have noticed that you've been blocked 3 other times in the past for some actual hardcore stuff, like stalking of UpDown and stuff like that, as well as the sockpuppetry that Kimberly Ashton was accused of here. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:25, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
This was in the past. And 2 out of three blocks where not really in good faith(in my opinion). and as you have noticed their hasnt been any diserruptive behaviour here.--Sinbad 21:27, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
But there has been an issue that some of your edits have needed grammar fix-up, which has actually created more work for some of the other editors here on Simple English Wikipedia. Other than that, I have seen no noteworthy abuse or bad behavior here on Simple English Wikipedia. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 21:32, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Note on edit count

But looking at 1bookfan's en contribs (en:Special:Contributions/1bookfan), he only edited his userpage and treated Wikipedia like Myspace. JetLover Bam! 00:40, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure it is a stub? It seems long enough to me. JetLover Bam! 23:48, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

:I'm never sure if an article is a stub. I just put a stub on it and other editors can remove it or help it as they like. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 23:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC) Reply

Why. That makes it sound as if you are just collecting edits --Bärliner 00:04, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, scratch that last comment that I made. I usually put a stub template on an article when I know for sure if it is too short and is in need of the stub template. Sometimes, I make mistakes and place the stub template on an article that is already long enough, I just think it is too short still (this is very few times). Hope this helps!
