Was it right to do this?
Someone blindly took out alot of text on the Harry Potter (character) article, and some of it should have stayed and other parts were easy. Was it okay that I undid him? Cypher 02:37, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- I was debating upon whether or not to undo the IP address's edit to that page because actually, that page should be deleted because I think we already have a Harry Potter page. I'll double-check this. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 02:38, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: how did I become an admin
The usual way, I assume. I made a lot of useful edits, I was nominated, I accepted, I received support, and I became an admin. I'm not aware of any hierarchical relationship between wiktionary and wikipedia.--Brett 02:29, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Commas
I reverted the commas you put into dates on one of the German Cabinet pages. Commas shouldn't be needed, as there is supposed to be an auto format function, so you lot over there should be able to see month day comma year and us normal english speakers will see day month year :).
- Ok, I'll stop putting commas into pages for dates. Razorflame 18:10, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I have asked about this on simple talk. There are a couple of links on the page too, one to the en Manual of Style about links to years. It says don't link just for the sake of a link, so I don't anymore.--Bärliner 11:48, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'll stop linking to years from now on. I didn't think it was a big deal to link pages with years in them to the years in question. Razorflame 18:10, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Links
The rule is to have links only with personal data and really important events. You would not really like to put all works of Conrad in the year articles. --Cethegus 16:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't know that links are only to personal data and important events. Now I do, and now I will stop linking. Razorflame 18:11, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

I see what you mean... He is right in some ways but that last conclusive comment: "If we are going to support inactivity ... " was a bit far. I'm sorry I've raised such a controversial topic. Gwib -(talk)- 00:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

- I have made some corrections to WW2, but no vandals since your message and I agree, Gwib didn't raise anything controversial. I say that pointing out ahead of time he was going to be less active or inactive for a while was very responsible. No. I'm saying that the Nikkul from bpy.wikipedia is a vandal (probably an impersonator if Nikkul is a well known user at other wikis). However, the IP 121.44.79.159 is DEFINITELY a vandal (that's the IP that created Nikkul@bpywiki) Drini 05:52, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I've got a question
I was just wondering, if there's a picture on en.wikipedia, how do I get it to show here without uploading it to this server? And would the same work for meta? Thanks! Cypher 03:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- If there is a picture in an english Wikipedia article, chances are that the picture has already been uploaded onto the Commons, making it fair game for use in any article on here. As for Meta, you'll have to find out for yourself. Meta is much more complex. You'll have to ask on meta. Cheers! Razorflame 03:43, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

hiya
thanks! I was wondering about something... since there are so few pages on here compared to the original wikipedia, wouldnt it at least be better just to entirely copy all the articles from wikipedia and paste them here, if there isnt already a page from them? That way, the simple wikipedia would still have the simple written articles it already had, but for the articles that no one has yet rewritten, it will at least have something. The language in them may not be 'basic english,' but since there wasnt an article for them in the first place, its better than nothing, surely? and it would mean that there would be more chance of people seeing an article here and then editing it to make it simpler english, rather than the less likely event of someone actually bringing a page over and rewriting it themselves. Is there a policy for this? sorry, i was just wondering... it struck me straight away how many articles this wikipedia is missing from the other one. happy new year by the way. Iamandrewrice 10:04, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- what do you think? Ben(User)(Talk)(Contribs) 15:56, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to jump in before you can reply. No copy pasted articles are not welcome or useful here and are liable to be deleted straight away. In just the same way that an article in German is likely to be deleted from the regular english wikipedia. English and Simple English are two different languages.--Bärliner 16:18, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's exactly what Barliner said. We do not condone direct copypastes of the articles directly over from the English Wikipedia. It would be better to take and simplify the article than to copypaste articles directly from the English Wikipedia. Razorflame 17:25, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes
I've decided to make a copy of the En Wiki userbox gallery. I know it'll be met with scorn but I think that they'll be used and will be useful; but there is one thing I need to ask you first.
How do you link directly to the userboxes like on your userpage? It says {{user:Razorflame/userbox}} . How do you do that?
Gwib -(talk)- 19:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
You mean my userpage on en:wiki? Razorflame 19:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- No no, here. For example your excessive editor userbox. It just has one simple line of code, which presumably goes to a sub page somewhere. I know how to design a userbox but to link to it using one line of code, got no clue how to!
- Please help?
- Gwib -(talk)- 19:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Easy. All you have to do is create a user subpage for it. Then, all you have to do is type in the subpage of it in brackets, then it all gets one line of code :) Razorflame 19:31, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Lovely, thanks! Just curious, where do you keep all of your subpages? You must have quite a few...
- Gwib -(talk)- 19:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- There is no list for all my subpages. If there was, it would be too long. Also, as an honest opinion: I don't think you should port the userboxes over from the English Wikipedia, as we are too small of a Wikipedia and not all of the userboxes are in simple english. Razorflame 19:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I won't take all of them, I'll just take a few and design a few.
Gwib -(talk)- 19:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just take the ones that you will actually use, and make sure to make them in your userspace, and not the template part :) Razorflame 19:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's easy enough to change simplify them - as I did for {{User:Barliner/userboxes/admin}}--Bärliner 19:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- But you should only use the ones that you plan on actually using on this site. Razorflame 19:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
