Hello, SECUTOR7, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing!--Sir James Paul 18:00, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Classproject Thailand change

I have copied over the listing of which groups are working on which articles withing your class project so that you can more easily track them.

The following articles have also been created and included in the group. All three seem to be about the same province (Khorat). A single article should be used under the most common English name for the province with redirects used for other common names and spellings.

All of the articles should include the {{Classproject|Thailand}} template. This tells other editors and readers that the article is a part of the project as well as groups all of the articles into Category:Classproject Thailand for quick identification and navigation between them. -- Creol(talk) 11:57, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much Creol, your blood is worth bottling!
About Thailand Attractions, so it should not be inside the Thailand article but should be a separate article? Just want to confirm.
The article should be Nakhon Ratchasima Province with Nakhon Ratchasima redirecting to it. While in English wikipedia, Nakhon Ratchasima is an article about the city of the same name and not the province, we don't yet have an article on the city so it should redirect to the province. The other spellings they have created should be deleted.
I want my students to notify the editors via Wikipedia when they are finished with their first drafts. I though I was able to send an email once I had found a user's talk page, I did not find a way to access a user's talk page without having to click a link from somewhere else.

Articles covering a sub-topic of a larger topic (for example - Thailand attractions is a subtopic of Thailand) are usually created when the main article is getting too large for the added information. While there is no max page size, articles over 32K in size are harder for some computers to deal with easily. In these cases, the sub-topics are often moved to a separate page and linked to from the main page (usually in the "See also" section). If it is a very important topic, a brief version of the page may still be included on the main page with a link using the {{main}} template to the more detailed sub-topic article. The main template is placed directly under the topic heading
example

Attractions change

There are many attractions in Thailand. These include:

  • Attraction 1 - brief description
  • Attraction 2 -
  • etc.

This allows the reader to get a basic idea of the sub-topic and gives them a link to the full article if they are interested in more detailed information.
As to contacting editors, it is normally best to just use an editors talk page directly rather than using e-mail. This allows any editor to see the information and can often get a response even if the editor is off-line (or not checking their mail that often). Also some editors are overly careful about communications by E-mail as there are issues with vandals causing problems using e-mail. Not all users are this way, but there are many so it is often easier to just use their talk page. The signature of most editors include a link to their talk page to make it easier to talk to them. If you can not quickly find the link, the search bar on the upper left of the page can find it quickly. Just enter User talk:<username> and it will get you there. The search will usually autocomplete the username so having to spell it completely and correctly is not a big issue. -- Creol(talk) 03:42, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
