Wikipedia:Feminism and Folklore/2022
Feminism and Folklore is an international writing contest. We have it at Wikipedia every year in February or March. Writers write about folk cultures and women in folklore from all over the world. This project goes with the photography contest called Wiki Loves Folklore (WLF) that happens on Wikimedia Commons.
For this, competition, write and improve articles about human cultural diversity here on the Simple English Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. This year, we write about folk culture from all over the world, with a particular attention to closing the gender gap with our partners from across the world.
Since 2019, we have been organizing a multilingual Wikipedia contest and we have chosen to place the project on Meta, allowing inter wikis, inter-lingual and inter-project cooperation, all for the global wikilove movement.
The articles written for the contest must match the main idea. Most contestants will be able to find several good subjects to write about. These could be cultural festivals, dances, food and cooking, clothing or daily life routine emphasizing folk culture of that area. You are free to choose an article from the list we wrote or pick up a topic of your own so long as it is close to the main theme and focusing on closing the gender gap. "Intangible cultural heritage" means different things to different people. This helps people from different cultures talk to each other and respect each other. It also teaches the reader about cultural diversity.
Theme change
This year Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women biographies and gender-focused topics for the project in league with Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus with folk culture theme on Wikipedia.
Folklore – around the world, including, but not limited to folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, fairy tales, folk plays, folk arts, folk religion, mythology, etc.
Women in folklore – includes but is not limited to, women and queer personalities in folklore, folk culture (folk artists, folk dancers, folk singers, folk musicians, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales and more).

Rules change
Each article must meet the criteria given on the main page:
- The new article must be at least 3000 bytes or 300 words in size.
- An expanded article must be at least 3000 bytes bigger or 300 words longer than before.
- The article should not be machine translated.
- The article should be created between February 1 and March 31.
- The article should be about theme feminism and folklore.*
- The article must not have any problems with copyright, notability, plagiarism or sourcing.
- The article must be written in Simple English, not regular English.
Please place the template {{FNF2022}} on the article talk page when it is ready.
*"Folklore" does not mean folk stories in this contest (rather, not only folklore). It means more like "folk culture."

- 1st prize: US$300
- 2nd prize: US$200
- 3rd prize: US$100
- Consolation top US$10 winners: US$10 USD each
