Naruto is a Japanese manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. It follows the journey of the eponymous orphaned ninja who dreams to become "Hokage". The Hokage is the strongest ninja and the leader for the village, called Konoha (meaning "leaf" in Japanese). Throughout the series, Naruto and his friends begin to solve the ancient history of the ninja world. He learns the Rasengan, the jutsu... that makes a person become hokage. The manga was first published in 1999 in a Japanese magazine called Shonen Jump. It was also translated into English. The anime series premiered in October 2002. In the United States, it started in September 2005.

Growth and popularityEdit

The manga series ran up to seventy two volumes. It became one of the most popular manga and anime.[source?] Since it began, a lot of Naruto fansites (websites made by people who like it a lot) were made with detailed information, guides, forums and card games.

AnimeEdit

The series for the first part aired from 2002 to 2007 and the second part from 2007 to 2017. Some episodes and anime movies for the series are not based on the manga.

PlotEdit

Twelve years ago, a giant nine-tailed fox spirit attacked the village. The Fourth Hokage (Naruto's father) sacrificed himself to seal the fox's spirit within his son, whom he named Naruto Uzumaki. While Naruto had the demon inside of him, he trains to become of the ninjas and went on a great journey to travel each lands.

Basically meaning lower ninja. Rank of missions they are sent to: D and C.

ChuninEdit

Basically meaning middle ninja. Rank of missions they were sent to: C and B.

JoninEdit

Basically meaning high ninja. Rank of missions they were sent to: B, A, and S rank.

ANBUEdit

They are like ninja black ops and are assassins. They serve the village's Kage.

CharactersEdit

Naruto UzumakiEdit

The eponymous character of the series who spent his journey traveling to each nations for the Ninja World. He later becomes the Seventh Hokage.

Sasuke UchihaEdit

One of Naruto's friends and a survivor of the Uchiha clan. He possesses the ninjutsu within his eyes. He seeks to defeat his brother (Itachi) and avenge his family. Despite his failure, he is rescued by Naruto.

Sakura HarunoEdit

One of Naruto's friends. She makes a relationship with Sasuke.

Kakashi HatakeEdit

Naruto's teacher who has the same ninjutsu received from his friend (Obito). Kakashi is also the Sixth Hokage.

TsunadeEdit

One of the Three Legendary Sannin and the Fifth Hokage.

OrochimaruEdit

A snake ninja and one of the Three Legendary Sannin who often lives in the hideout.

JiraiyaEdit

Naruto's mentor and one of the Three Legendary Sannin. He later dies in the second part of the series.

Minato NamikazeEdit

The Fourth Hokage and Naruto's late father.

ComicsEdit

The series has seventy two volumes.
