I still see a few things that I think should be fixed:

• No space before ref tags.
• References should be done using citation templates, like {{cite web}}
• All books cited should be mentioned (there is {{cite book}})

I've copyedited it, changed a few styles to coincide with English Wikipedia's manual of style, translated some into British English (since the subject is himself British) and that's about it from me. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:06, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

VGA concerns

Read through the article, and I have concerns about the article when compared to VGA requirements:

• First, references don't appear to be outwardly reliable. The following need their reliably demonstrated:

• Delink dates per MOS  Fixed

• Infobox "&"s should be "and"s  Fixed

• Two dead links, and ref 10 is dead as well  Fixed

• As we stand at this minute, a clear fail:

1. Reliability of refs (a most serious issue)
2. Wrong date format: unlink, and put into international style.  Fixed
3. I looked in vain for an independent assessment of his character and achievements. Whole reads as a panegyric essay, despite the section on conflicts with Baptist Union. We don't actually get to hear what the Union said about him. Altogether too much in favour of the subject, and hence not neutral.
4. I doubt the truth of the "published more books than any other religious writer". Such massive claims have to be nailed to the floor by way of evidence.

Depression?

i noticed that the article says that he suffered with depression. i also noticed that it was never sourced. when i quickly scanned the regular english version of this page i could not find any traces of him having depression. is this just an assuption, original reaserch, or a poor word choise to help simplify something?

As part of maintenance efforts for the list of VGAs and GAs, the article's promotion and demotion details were updated and the following noted for general information:

Not known much now?

Well, for one I hadn't heard of him therefore I think the statement in the intro of "People still know him as the "Prince of Preachers", is excessive. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:10, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
