Articles from the English Wikipedia

Is it allowed to copy articles from the English Wikipedia, or other Wikipedia's to here?--Lucky102 (talk) 15:59, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

You can definitely reuse articles from the English Wikipedia. But you need to translate them into simpler English. You also need to give attribution to the original authors of the article – Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia will show you how to do this. Osiris (talk) 23:05, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks!--Lucky102 (talk) 08:54, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
It confuses me. I don't really understand it. I just copy and paste articles. Please explain simpler for me.--Lucky102 (talk) 15:57, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
How do you know the version numbers?--Lucky102 (talk) 16:09, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
There should be a "permanent link" link button somewhere in the toolbox, click it and copy the url. -Barras talk 21:00, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Is it the oldid number?--Lucky102 (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Toolbox?--Lucky102 (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) Left in the sidebar should be a container named "Toolbox" and the link "Permanent link" with it. Its url will be for example http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&oldid=3748563, so 3748563 is the version number (oldid). Hope that I could help you. --@intforce 21:14, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't see it. I use google chrome.--Lucky102 (talk) 21:16, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I do now.--Lucky102 (talk) 21:17, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok, so what do I do with it on this Wikipedia?--Lucky102 (talk) 21:19, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
You create the talk page of the article (if it doesn't exist already) with following content: {{based on|Pagename of the article on English WP|version=the oldid}}, for example {{based on|Philosophical skepticism|version=346768538}}. --@intforce 21:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's if it's only an exact copy, because mine are stubs, while the main article on the english wikipedia isn't.--Lucky102 (talk) 21:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
For example, Cristina Iovu?--Lucky102 (talk) 21:48, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
You use that even if it isn't an exact copy. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:08, 7 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Changing username

Hello and Sat Sri Akaal! I don't know where to request exactly. So writing here. I'm changing my username globally to "itarbuttar" as per the meta request. Please check to verify and rename and oblige. Thanks a lot. --TariButtar (talk) 14:06, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

On meta you request renaming to "itar buttar" (note the space), here you say itarbuttar without space. Which one do you actually want? Also not that usernames always start with an uppercase letter, so it will be "Itar...". -Barras talk 18:02, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
To add on, I have listed your request on this page. Chenzw  Talk  23:36, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Solvent extraction

Hi Barras, I salvaged Solvent extraction form being quick deleted, and put a stub there. When you have the time, culd you have a quick look? - You sipmlified articles in the past, and I am especially unhappy with the image/film description. Can ofc wait until after the holidays, is not urgent... --Eptalon (talk) 23:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just recently worked with such an extractor... However, I will try to find some minutes to look at it as soon as possible. I'm just currently terrible busy. -Barras talk 23:41, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
We all are. The idea would be to convert the article into a "scentifically accurate stub"...--Eptalon (talk) 23:48, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
