Request for Assistance in Stabilizing Sheru (Say Cheese) Wikipedia Page

Hello @MathXplore

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring attention to the proposed deletion of the Sheru (Say Cheese) Wikipedia page, as indicated by the template {{qd|g5|2=[[User talk:Patelhera]]|editor=MathXplore|date=11:39, 3 February 2024 (UTC)}}.

I, Khushi200, believe that the page provides valuable information about Sheru, an Indian portrait photographer and entrepreneur, and I am committed to improving and maintaining the quality of the content. I am reaching out to request assistance from experienced editors and administrators in evaluating the content and addressing any concerns that may have led to the proposed deletion.

I have worked diligently to compile reliable sources and create a well-referenced article that adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines. However, if there are specific issues or improvements needed, I am more than willing to collaborate and make the necessary adjustments.

Your guidance and support in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am eager to contribute positively to Wikipedia and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information presented on Sheru's page.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards, Khushi200 (talk) 12:03, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Article descriptions

Hello MathXplore :) I am coming to you to request if you can change the article descriptions on the following Simple English Wikipedia pages such as:

Hillary Clinton (American politician and diplomat (born 1947) to United States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013

Michelle Obama (former lawyer and First Lady of the United States) to First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017

Melania Trump (First Lady of the United States (2017-2021), model, and businesswoman) to First Lady of the United States from 2017 to 2021 Olivia Klacik (talk) 21:07, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I thought that article descriptions are not used at simplewiki. I do not see the reason to take actions, no actions from my side. MathXplore (talk) 23:06, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
As general reminder, edit requests should have good reasons, we don't make changes for changes. For clearly helpful changes (fixing errors, adding descriptions to description-missing content etc.) you may skip this step but otherwise you should be able to give a good reason. This is not my first time to get edit requests without reasons, and I usually rejected them. No reason, no request. MathXplore (talk) 01:25, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please also note that article descriptions can be changed via WikiData, but if you edit them without a reason then WikiData editors may revert such changes. MathXplore (talk) 01:25, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

For a reply you have left on my talk page, I'll notify to you that I will make sure that the page will be more distinguished in a simpler way, as this is wikipedia simple english. You are also free to edit my article too!

I wanted to alert you to some seriously problematic behavior regarding this article. For more than three years now there has been an ongoing serious of sockpuppets (more than two dozen now) that have attempted to create an article on this person on en.wikipedia. See w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bmusique99/Archive. There have been several article for deletion discussions (1, 2, 3,4) all of which have resulted in deletion or speedy deletion. Attempts have been made either in mainspace or draftspace at en.wikipedia to create articles for this person under ~20 different names. The person behind all this effort is absolutely relentless. I don't know what your deletion procedures here on Simple; I don't contribute here. But, in my opinion the article here should be deleted and salted, along with a watchful eye kept for permutations of the name. See the beginning (A7) of w:User:Hammersoft/adminlog#Speedy_deletions for a list. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 01:17, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. If you can verify that this is a similar copy of a deleted enwiki article/draft, please tag {{QD|A3|Copy of deleted enwiki article}} to the article. Of course, more details can be explained in the edit summary, or you can just cite this thread. For the recently discovered accounts, I have reported them to our WP:VIP and Commons (commons:COM:AN/V). For enwiki deletion status, we usually don't include that in our decisions (except A3 and G5 for global lock evasions). In general, I do not recognize any sister project that refers to enwiki deletion status at their deletion policy. But the information would be helpful in some cases. Thank you for the information. MathXplore (talk) 02:47, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Done [1]. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 02:57, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear, You deleted this page without thinking. At least you could have seen that reliable sources have now been added to the page. All the people who have created this page before today have created it wrong. I had created this page from a very good source and you deleted it without thinking when you should not do so. 2409:40D2:1B:2AAC:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 09:02, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I do not have the ability to delete or undelete pages. Please protest this to the right place (WP:DRV). MathXplore (talk) 09:06, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

A note on QDs

wouldn't it be better to expand articles rather than delete them? SurferSquall (talk) 09:27, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I would like to have our admins to make that decision. Please remember that not all articles can be easily expanded. I have been tagging QDs many times at here for several years, some other users prefered deletion rather than other options. MathXplore (talk) 09:30, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
(Note) Please see special:diff/9292543 for admin feedback about my QD actions. MathXplore (talk) 09:51, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not saying you did anything wrong. However, nearly every article here has a counterpart on Enwiki that can be used to expand here. That's how I expand things. Pop over to enwiki, see what it says there, simplify and cut out what doesn't need to be here. SurferSquall (talk) 11:34, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Rollback on QD

Heya Math… I already requested QD on that article for the same reason but somehow it shows you are the requested not sure if you rolled it back to previous to that or something happened. I keep reverting the ip and I’ve reported it to VIP. Thanks Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:16, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I was previously told to report QD tag removals to WP:AN rather than VIP. Anyway, thank you for your reactions. MathXplore (talk) 08:18, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok. That would be new to me as it is/was considered VIP. I’ll check into it and make sure I follow the rules. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:25, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't know if this is a hard rule, but I believe expanding the definition of vandalism should be avoided. Please see w:Wikipedia:Avoid the word "vandal" for related ideas. MathXplore (talk) 08:27, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I would be inclined to agree with you but based on this users activity and knowing what they are doing despite numerous warnings and also having blocks on them already would classify it as vandalism that they are performing as they are disrupting the project with the constant deletion of the QD. It does look like they stopped for now at least. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:48, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I forgot to check the block log. In this case your response would be more reasonable. Thank you for checking the recent changes. MathXplore (talk) 08:51, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Done The page has been deleted. MathXplore (talk) 09:01, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries. When I went through my training for en, it was one of the things to look at before making any warnings. Look at everything the page, the talk page, and logs. But all good. Thanks and good to see you still active! Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:40, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Skibidi Toilet

Hi, we're trying to get Skibidi Toilet (currently salted, only admins allowed to create it) as a redirect to Skibidi toilet, so I added an edit request on the talk page. Can we keep the talk page? Kk.urban (talk) 06:13, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think using WP:AN is enough. MathXplore (talk) 06:15, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Notifications

Hey just to let you know that typically when someone is brought up on an admin notice board (for things like we just discussed), you should alert the user by posting on their talk page, and including the permalink, so they are aware and can respond. Granted most of the stuff we post doesn’t require that but something like that, especially when a bc has stated that what was done shouldn’t have been done, we should give the editor (especially more so since they have some global rights and are an admin) the respect of notifying them. I’m not gonna notify others of page protection requests, etc. But say if I brought you up because of a lot of issues I see (fyi just an example as you are an extraordinary contributor as shown by bc’s saying you should be an admin here) and you refuse to acknowledge them or continue doing them or attack everything, you would want the courtesy of being notified, would you not? BTW Coco has gotten so big and has learned how to use facial expressions to get what she wants. Hard to believe she will be three this year. Tokoyo

Hi, can I ask for your help with Japanese? ja:常世 is linked to Tokoyo but the contents of the latter appear to be simplified from en:Tokoyo no kuni, which is connected to ja:常世の国. Which article is more appropriate to connect with Simple's Tokoyo? Thanks! — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 09:12, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I know some Japanese. It matters what you mean. If it means 'a place that never changes', or 'just never changing or ending', you say 'Tokoyo'. If it means 'immortal lands (paradise, sacred lands, etc.) that is found far across the ocean, you say 'Tokoyo no kuni'. BTW, 'Tokoyo no kuni' is a Japanese myth believed by the ancient residents, and is found in the religion, Shintoism. (Not Buddism). The land is parallel out into the sea, so 'Tokoyo no kuni' is not up in heaven (in religion like Christianity God is up in heaven), but far across the ocean. In ancient Japan, a vast ocean was enough to be incomprehensible, unlike the Greeks, Romans, Carthaginians etc. Colonelsnow (talk) 09:38, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the explanations. You know more than me about ancient history. MathXplore (talk) 11:51, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
This needs careful checks, please give me time for this question. MathXplore (talk) 11:52, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Here's some more information: Tokoyo no kuni. Many articles, pages, and many websites mistake 常世 (the eternal world) to 常夜 (the world of eternal night; darkness, or the underworld). The character 世 means world, and the character 夜 means night. please be aware of that. Colonelsnow (talk) 12:54, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please see my user page profile or Special:CentralAuth/MathXplore to know about language preferences. MathXplore (talk) 13:03, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand what you mean. ^_^ Colonelsnow (talk) 13:10, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Information is welcome, but please also note that blogs are not always welcomed. Please see WP:RS for our preferences for sources. MathXplore (talk) 13:13, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I'll try not to use blogs for references in (Simple) Wikipedia articles too. Colonelsnow (talk) 13:33, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't think there is an urgent need to change the interwiki links. ja:常世 seems to be explaining Tokoyo in general as well as Tokoyo (The JAWP article header says so). In addition, ja:常世 and Tokoyo belong to Category:Afterlife, ja:常世の国 does not. I guess that the author is providing attribution to clarify the reuse of enwiki texts. MathXplore (talk) 13:11, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MathXplore @Colonelsnow Thank you to both of you. I'll leave the article's interwiki links for now. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 13:18, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
