Sandbox link change

It's probably more appropriate to continue our discussion here. I too am surprised that there is not already a sandbox link by default on this Wikipedia. As you pointed out, there are barely any active contributors here, so my best guess is that there aren't enough that care about having a sandbox link for it to be made a default feature.

You said that my user script only appears to work on Vector 2010. What skin do you primarily use? I'll see if I can adapt it to work with yours. - ZLEA T\C 08:27, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I use Vector 2010. No need to do anything. SurferSquall (talk) 17:05, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
So many things are broken here in bizarre ways. A lot of links don't switch between red/blue when articles are created/deleted. SurferSquall (talk) 17:06, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, simplewiki has been around for a long time. I'm really surprised it's missing so much. SurferSquall (talk) 17:09, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The link problem may require you to WP:PURGE your cache. You mentioned that many templates are missing. Could you provide some examples of missing templates that you tried to use? - ZLEA T\C 22:35, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
{{Needs update}} is one i've run into; I forget the others right now but try the usual inline templates, a lot I'd use on main wiki don't work here SurferSquall (talk) 22:58, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I do see a lot of red links at Template:Inline cleanup tags, but I think the Simple English equivalent for {{Needs update}} is Template:Update inline. I'll see what I can do about the others, as it should be simple enough to copy the code directly from English Wikipedia and just change some of the wording. - ZLEA T\C 22:04, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Quick deletion of American Airlines fleet change

The page you wrote, American Airlines fleet, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. January 2024 change

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "American Airlines fleet" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 11:45, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't done simplifying it... SurferSquall (talk) 16:59, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your user page edits change

Why are you making dozens of edits, adding one letter per edit? Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 03:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Terrible connection, need to finish writing SurferSquall (talk) 03:26, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Am done now resetting router SurferSquall (talk) 03:28, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You made 14 edits in a minute. No, that's not a connection problem, and there is nothing preventing you from typing a word or sentence as a whole rather than making an edit for every new letter. Why are you trying to artificially inflate your edit count? Extendedconfirmed is not a thing on this project, and it is disruptive in that it floods recent changes. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 03:47, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
A small screen and a bad connection makes working that way easier for me, yes. As for recent changes- I was going to ask for the edit flag thingy. I never got around to it. SurferSquall (talk) 03:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I really don't see how it is easier, especially as we would have to mark you as flood each time you decide to update your userpage. As Vermont says, there is such a tiny difference between having a new edit for each new letter and a new word/sentence in terms of connection (and you have managed to discuss with other users which is hundreds more bytes), and I can't see the smaller screen making a difference either. You are still flooding recent changes, please stop making these edits in this way. --Ferien (talk) 23:00, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Ferien I have no control over when I can or cannot edit with a fast internet connection. It is purely bad timing. And yes, it is easier for me to make small edits as I go along rather than large edits at once. Is it not possible to flood tag for a long period of time? SurferSquall (talk) 23:02, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Flood flags exist only for repeated non-controversial edits and you should be closely monitored by admins during it. I don't know your internet speeds, but you're currently responding to these messages, and these are hundreds of bytes in size. Many of the edits you are making are only one or two bytes. I'm sorry, but when you say connection speeds are an issue to this extent and you are continuing to make edits that are much bigger, I don't think this is accurate. I don't have an issue with making smaller edits, but changing a letter in each edit is extreme and strongly discouraged. It certainly will not be encouraged by using flood. --Ferien (talk) 23:13, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Similar edits to Gulkana Airport. One comma, one period at a time. As this user is banned on EnWP, it might be a good idea to highlight the One Strike policy here. --Gotanda (talk) 22:35, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
How is there anything wrong with editing as I go along? SurferSquall (talk) 04:14, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is a large difference between editing as you go along and making single edits to add one comma as Gotanda mentions above. It just artifically inflates your edit count, and floods recent changes for people monitoring it. Flood will not be granted simply because the way you edit produces way more edits than other editors would. Multiple editors have explained this to you now, please stop doing this. --Ferien (talk) 20:40, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll do my best. I wish I could get a bit of the benefit of the doubt here. SurferSquall (talk) 02:30, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

February 2024 change

Hello, SurferSquall! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Related pages" instead of English Wikipedia's "See also", which you used in "Oyster, Virginia". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Related pages" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 05:31, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Alright, changed it SurferSquall (talk) 17:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Northampton County change

I created one of your redlink categories, Unincorporated communities in Northampton County, after making a third page to put in it. Just thought I would let you know. QuicoleJR (talk) 20:23, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I already planned to make it later on, but now I don't have to. SurferSquall (talk) 03:00, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You'll notice in the upper left corner of this page that this project is called the Simple English Wikipedia and not the Reasonably Simple English Wikipedia. Please do not copy pages from other projects and not further simplify the language to meet BE 1500. Please review WP:HOW prior to creating any new pages. Operator873 connect 23:52, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The language was simplified- please point out what you think isn't simple enough. SurferSquall (talk) 23:53, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Everything that wasn't in BE 1500. Again, you should learn how to participate here by reviewing WP:HOW. Operator873 connect 23:53, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're telling me the word "Airport" is too complex for here?? SurferSquall (talk) 23:55, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
If only we had a page that explained how to handle things like that. Oh wait! We do! It's WP:HOW. Operator873 connect 23:58, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wish you would point out to me what was too complex on the article I had, rather than pointing me to a page that only makes it look like I had it right... SurferSquall (talk) 00:00, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@SurferSquall, being uncooperative and rude on your own and on other editors' talk pages is not constructive editing. Just want to remind you of the One-strike rule here on this wiki. https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Blocks_and_bans#Reciprocal You have been warned about copying more than once now. --Gotanda (talk) 05:27, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@GotandaI'm not trying to be rude, I'm asking questions I don't know the answer to. If I come off that way, sorry, but it's how I write. I was asking Operator to point out specifics because I couldn't catch what exactly was wrong with the article, even after several passes through the text SurferSquall (talk) 04:18, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I thought I had it correct, and the page Operator linked to didn't help me to notice what was wrong with it. SurferSquall (talk) 04:19, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Issue with Nanba Shrine change

So I have a rather complex issue with the article Nanba Shrine. So that article is straightforwardly wrong. I had made a mistake of combinging two shrines together.

Here are my draft articles on the two shrines it is actually based on: User:Immanuelle/Nanba Shrine and User:Immanuelle/Nanba Yasaka Shrine. I'm not sure exactly what the practical solution to this is, but the two shrines are different, they are just close to each other. Might be best to propose the mainspace article for deletion before we can get the two drafts done properly. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 04:11, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

And while you're at it can you look at User:Immanuelle/Kamayama Shrine and User:Immanuelle/Watazumi Shrine. Those are the next two shrines I have been thinking were close to completion. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 04:16, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll take a look at those when I have more time later. SurferSquall (talk) 16:05, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Immanuelle , those two drafts are of publishing quality. I will publish them to namespace if you would like. Please let me know. SurferSquall (talk) 00:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@SurferSquall thank you, I would like that! Just made some minor edits to them and now I think they are ready! Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 00:16, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alright! SurferSquall (talk) 23:36, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am proposing the mainspace article for deletion. The best solution is to delete the mainspace article and work on the two drafts until they're completed. SurferSquall (talk) 16:04, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
