Help Me change

I am relatively new to the Simple English Wikipedia, and have one major question. Is it okay to transfer an entire article from the English Wikipedia to the Simple English Wikipedia and copy edit it it to meet the requirements here? Many thanks, TheQ Editor (talk) 01:59, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Actually, @TheQ Editor:, you can transfer the entire article. An article does not have to be short to be simple. There is nothing wrong with having a long article, as long as all of it is simplified. It might be easiest to work on long articles in a sandbox in your userspace until they are simplified enough. Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia might be helpful. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:06, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome change

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. Auntof6 (talk) 03:10, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Attribution for Mississauga, Ontario? change

I removed the attribution you added for Mississauga, Ontario for a couple of reasons. First, the link in the attribution template went to the article on Billy Zane, instead of the article on Mississauga, Ontario. I don't understand why. The other reason is that when an article has been around for a long time, it's probably not possible to know what version of the English Wikipedia (enwiki) article was used as a base, or if the enwiki article was used as a base at all. Let me know if you have any questions about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:15, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Differences from English Wikipedia change

Hello, TheQ Editor. I saw your note at Wikipedia:Proposed_good_articles#Kit_Carson about finding this Wikipedia "surprisingly different from the English Wikipedia". Indeed we are, but I'd be interested to hear what differences you have noticed. I keep a list of some of the ways that we are different, and if you've noticed something not on my list, I'd like to add it. My list is here, in case you'd like to look at it. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:20, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: First of all, thanks for all the help helping me adjust to the Simple English Wikipedia. On the English Wikipedia, the criteria includes the articlehaving a WP:Neutral Point of View. It also requires the article to be stable and be well written. While here, it requires the article to go through multiple revisions by different users. I assume that part is basically the same thing as well written.
Also on your list, I saw that you wrote down that the Simple English Wiki discourages the removal of red links. On the English Wikipedia, it is also discouraged the removal of red links too, only if the linked article has a chance of having WP:Notability. Also, I have another question, why isn't Main Page/Sister projects fully protected? Thanks, TheQ Editor (talk) 15:01, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mississauga, Ontario change

Hi, TheQ. Thanks for adding information to Mississauga, Ontario. Unfortunately, the text you added needs to be simplified more because of complex words and quite a few compound sentences. Do you plan to work on that more? If you aren't going to work on it right away, you can put the text in a work page in your userspace to work on at your leisure. Otherwise the changes might get reverted, but if that happens they will still be available in the page history. Let me know. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 22:48, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yep, I'm still having trouble adjusting to how the prose "writing thing" works. I tried to simplify things up a bit and linked some terms. How is it now? Thanks, TheQ Editor (talk) 01:53, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
