The University of Tuscia, established in 1979, is in the city of Viterbo.

The comune of Viterbo has an area of 406.23 km2 (156.85 sq mi), the largest comune of the province, and its altitude is 326 m (1,070 ft) above sea level.[2]

The comune borders with the comuni Bagnoregio, Bomarzo, Canepina, Caprarola, Celleno, Civitella d'Agliano, Graffignano, Marta, Monte Romano, Montefiascone, Ronciglione, Soriano nel Cimino, Tuscania, Vetralla, Vitorchiano.[4]
