Welcome to WikiProject Animals! This WikiProject was created by Wikipedians who wants to improve, make bigger, update and create articles on animals. If you want to join this project, just add your name to the members list below.

What is this Project about? How can I help?

WikiProject Animals is a place where Wikipedians improve, make bigger (expand), update and create articles that are about animals. These articles such as Fish, Lion, Dog, Bird, Cat, Frog, Turtle, etc, are all animals. Articles about people who discovered animals such as Zoologist are also part of this project. Most animal articles on Simple Wikipedia are very small articles that may have only one sentence or one paragraph. We need you to help expand them or make them bigger. You can add more sentences like where do they live? what do they eat? are they harmful to humans? can they be kept as pets? and how can you tell a male and female apart? If you need examples of good articles, look at our good animal articles section below. If you want to do other stuff to help, you can always add a {{taxobox}} to all animal articles. A taxobox is needed for all articles about animals because they tell readers their kingdom, class, family and species. You can also just create articles that are not on this Wiki, there's a list below for animal articles you can create!

Also when changing an article, you have to follow the same rules on Simple Wikipedia. You can look at WP:RULES, WP:SIMPLE and WP:HOW. These rules and guidelines can help you write good articles. For a wordlist of simple words look at WP:BE 1500, this can help you understand if you have a simple word or a word that is too difficult to understand. Also, look at WP:PGA and WP:PVGOOD as a guideline when you want to nominate a animal article to good status or very good status. If these are still not helping you, you can always go to WP:ST where editors who knows what they are doing can help you and guide you along.

• List of birds of New Zealand: The list below are the families, genuses and species of birds that live in New Zealand. We can start by creating, expanding and fixing them. (Currently organizing, you can help here)

Goals

These are milestones that achieved as you work togetherwith others The main goal is to create and expand articles about all animals from countries. If you want to do on a different country then add it here and everyone will join in

• Our first goal is to create and expand articles about animals in Afghanistan - Postponed.
• Second goal: is to create and expand articles about the birds of New Zealand.

Quality assessment

The following below are the criteria for articles. Articles can move up the criteria if the qualifications are met.

Rating	Qualifications
FA	A complete high quality article with an excellent lead, detailed sections that is relevant and accurate with pictures.
A	An article with more amount of sections that most have at least two paragraphs and a large high quality lead paragraph with images
B+	An article with 4 or more sections that are at least a paragraph long and is accurate an image is recommended.
B	An article with 3-4 sections that are at least a paragraph long and is accurate.
C	An article with 2-4 sections that are at least a paragraph long.
Start	A short article with 1-2 sections that are a sentence long.
Stub	A short single paragraph or sentence article with no sections
