August 2020 change

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make helpful changes to Wikipedia. However, some of your changes, like those to "Parrot", did not seem to be helpful and have been reverted or removed. If you want to try out changing Wikipedia to learn more about how it works, please use the sandbox. Thank you. For example, you changed Hyacinth macaw to Hyacanth macaw, which caused a spelling error in the article. It may not have been your intention, so please be extra careful when making edits. Infogapp1 (talk) 12:37, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Glossy black cockatoo" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Operator873talkconnect 14:36, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the comments. I will simplify any edits that comes from the main Wikipedia Space chinedu (talk) 14:39, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

You should probably review this page for more guidance. Operator873talkconnect 14:41, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for helping me out. I have made another page about toothpicks following the instructions. I will like to know if you like it. If there is any mistakes could you please rectify it instead of deleting the article. Space chinedu (talk) 17:18, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Adding attribution for Toothpick change

Hiya! Noticed you just added an attribution in the edit summary for the page. You actually need to add the attribution in the talk page of the article as well. I understand it may be a little bit daunting and confusing at first, but you may check this one out for example. If you have any questions, please feel free to ping me. --Infogapp1 (talk) 17:18, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dwarf crocodile change

Hi! Just made tweaks to the article so it's not exactly the same as EN. Our goal in this Wiki is to keep it simple, so I like that you've tried adding some interesting articles here =) I've also added the reference where the article is from. This is super important to avoid any copyright issues. You may want to take a look at this example. Click on Change source so you see how the code looks. What you do then is go to the history of the article you took the example from and change the URL to that ;) It really is that simple. Please give it a try next time. In case you get stuck, feel free to leave a message in my talk page. It's OK to make mistakes at first, as that's how we learn. I'll help in any way I can. Happy editing! --Infogapp1 (talk) 20:25, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for all your help Space chinedu (talk) 20:40, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

New articles change

Hi again, it's OK to copy article from English Wikipedia..as long as you at least simplify it, not just cut it. For example, there were still complex words included in the article you added. Check this out to see the difference. Also, since I may not be able to be on here at all times to check on your work, it would be very helpful if you could please check the link that me and Operator873 shared with you before about attribution. Without that, your new articles may be flagged by other editors who may find it either too complex, no signs of simplification, and no attribution. Have you had a chance to check that out? Do you have any questions about it? I recommend you to try not to add any more articles yet so you can familiarise yourself with the details of the process. --Infogapp1 (talk) 23:14, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

One more thing, when adding references, please don't add English Wikipedia...You need to add the actual source of the statements you added in the article. To learn more, see Wikipedia:Citing sources --Infogapp1 (talk) 23:16, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice Space chinedu (talk) 12:40, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cuban crocodile looks better =) Do you know how to make the animal's name to bold? It's not a big issue, as anyone else can do it for you, but I think you're pretty much getting the hang of it. --Infogapp1 (talk) 13:09, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

New Guinea croc change

Hi! When editing the page again, please be careful not to delete others edits (unless you think it's irrelevant). In which case, you may mention that in the edit summary, or leave the previous editor a note as to why you remove their edits. It might have not been your intention, so I thought I'd remind you ;) --Infogapp1 (talk) 15:57, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for advice Space chinedu (talk) 16:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can you please redirect the Hall's New Guinea crocodile page. I will personally rewrite it Space chinedu (talk) 16:06, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean? I changed the name based on how it's named on English Wikipedia. --Infogapp1 (talk) 16:12, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I mean that you moved the Hall's New Guinea crocodile page to the New Guinea crocodile page. They are both separate species. When I try to create the page it directs me to the New Guinea crocodile page Space chinedu (talk) 16:20, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

African golden wolf change

Hiya! Noticed that there were complex words in the article you've just added such as territorial and offspring. You may want to check this list out: Wikipedia:Basic English combined wordlist. Sometimes, if you can't simplify the words, you may just expand it in the simplest possible ways. Hope this helps, enjoy! --Infogapp1 (talk) 10:16, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Space chinedu (talk) 10:24, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Space chinedu. It looks like an article you created was derived from the English Wikipedia or another version of Wikipedia. If that is indeed the case, please make sure you add some form of attribution, either in your change summary or on the article's talk page. This must be done, even for derivative works, or the article will be deleted in time. More instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Thank you. --IWI (talk) 12:38, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

And please note that you cannot use the English Wikipedia as a source. You may copy a source from the text of an article there, however. --IWI (talk) 12:45, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your advice Space chinedu (talk) 12:54, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

August 2020 change

Thank you for changing Wikipedia. We welcome all changes, but we can have only changes that are in simple English, and your new changes were not simple. Please see Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages so you can write more simply in the future. Thank you.

I made it as simple as I could. Please don't block me Space chinedu (talk) 16:28, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, and thank you for your articles. Please try to remember to add categories to new articles. You can add it to the bottom of the page, such as [[Category:Mammals of Asia]] for a mammal from Asia. You can do the same for whichever continent the mammal is from. Edits to Venus change

You have pulled chunks of content over from En wiki. Often, you have not simplified it, or not enough, and that violates our prime directive. If you are not prepared to simplify the text DO NOT BRING IT OVER. You are presenting our readers with the very problems which led to this wiki being set up. If you cannot or will not simplify the text, then this is not the right place for you. It is up to you. Basically, it is about taking time and being careful to simplify the text which you bring over. After all, if we wanted a copy of En wiki we could get a bot to do it. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:26, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry again. I think I will stick to animals because I simply them the best. Won't you agree Space chinedu (talk) 10:23, 15 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

You are certainly making a good attempt at simplifying, just occasionally a little more is needed. We appreciate your efforts :) --IWI (talk) 09:47, 23 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I do not intend to pile on here, but I feel this is a very serious issue since you're currently blocked on the English Wikipedia for the same behavior. This will serve as your only warning on this issue. Do not use copyrighted material. Operator873talkconnect 16:31, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

October 2020 change

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently made a new article or made changes to one by adding things copied from a book, magazine, newspaper or another website without the permission of the copyright holder. Many sources, including websites found on the Internet, are copyrighted. I'm afraid Wikipedia cannot accept any things copied from these sources as it can get Wikipedia into serious legal trouble. The article or changes have been or will soon be deleted. Next time, please look up sources to find out information for articles and explain it in your own words, and don't copy sentences or images from them. Thank you. Please also read this. Happy editing. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:36, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information and I will not add copyright information Space chinedu (talk) 16:50, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Considering your block on the English Wikipedia, it would likely be best if you write your own content rather than copying information from other sources. Vermont (talk) 19:10, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Intensive farming change

Hi, you changed intensive farming by adding bullet points that you said were related to en:subsistence agriculture. I assume you meant that they described "intensive farming" instead of "subsistence agriculture", because your descriptions are practically the opposite of subsistence agriculture. I just don't want to change it myself in case you meant something else. Naddruf (talk) 04:11, 15 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

You might ask yourself how an obscenity got into the article when it was not there before. I have removed it, but to see, check the diff. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:24, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found out the culprit of this obscenity. It was a vandalist. The page history showing where it occurred is here https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vegetable&oldid=7521753. So I wasn't the one who did it. Space chinedu (talk) 18:46, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Cereal change

If you change cereal to be about breakfast cereal, then may be the article should rename to breakfast cereal? Would be good to move it? 50.30.176.24 (talk) 04:31, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Cereal is technically a type of crop, not just food. Elytrian (contact) 04:34, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
English Wikipedia has two articles, for both topics. 50.30.176.24 (talk) 04:35, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have moved the article to breakfast cereal Space chinedu (talk) 04:37, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I now fixed the article cereal to be like before but without the breakfast cereal writings. 50.30.176.24 (talk) 04:43, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Firstly, I moved the article because it's content was almost entirely about breakfast cereal including the history. Secondly, I also changed the name so that the article will not confuse others who want to read about cereal crops themselves. Thirdly, I moved it so that I can cream a new fresh article that is only about cereal crops Space chinedu (talk) 04:48, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

So please let me move the article again so I can create a new article about cereal Space chinedu (talk) 04:49, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

No need because I already fixed the article cereal. It looks like it did a few days/months ago. Thank you for writing about breakfast cereal.50.30.176.24 (talk) 06:32, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Just wanted to tell you that stubs are only created if there can be atleast 1000 articles that can use it. There aren't many articles relating to agriculture, so it might get deleted. You can read more about this here. Etoza (?) 10:25, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Extraordinary claims change

Okarito brown kiwi: Please do not replace text which has been cut for valid reasons. Extraordinary claims must have extraordinary support, and the reference you give does not deliver. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:09, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Macdonald-ross, he merely was using the reference from en-wiki. I too was going to put that reference. There is nothing extraordinary about that claim though. Kiwis are long living birds, with average lifespans of 25-50 years (does not include short or long living kiwis). Ely - Talk 07:39, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Editors are responsible for checking the content of any sources they use. It's fakery to name a source which does not support the claim you are making. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:48, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I went through the source again and it has no mention of that. Ely - Talk 07:50, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
However, 100 years is too long. I feel like "They live very long, between 25-50 years." would be more suitable. Ely - Talk 07:49, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
There may be a source in David Attenborough's book version of his tv program about NZ birds, but I don't have that to hand. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:52, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I notice that since the bird is relatively newly discovered, we can't say anything at all about its longevity! I wonder whether we can say anything about the longevity of individuals from any kiwi species. Probably not. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:09, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well if a kiwi can climb 12 miles of mountains, who knows? Maybe they can fly by farting!(/s) But I think some individuals have their ages measured. Of course, 600 individuals isn't enough to conduct proper results. But of course, blame dogs and weasels that we can't add a line to the article on their lifespan.
