Asking for advice
changeHi ZW, I'm not sure if you know that I'm currently considering retirement from Simple Wiki. The reason for my retirement? Other than fighting vandalism, I'm not sure if there's anything much that I can contribute here. There are few articles which I can contribute to, and articles of my interest are extremely rarely viewed. I even doubt those viewers are interested in the subject of my article. For fighting vandalism, there are many editors here who can handle that as well. I hope you can give me some advice on this, whether I should retire from here or not. I'm asking you as you are a fellow countryman, have the <redacted>, and last but not least, an admin worthy of my trust and seeking of advice. Thanks. Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 15:05, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) You can help at the Wikipedia backlog, which has many tasks and problems for people to do. Doing those tasks are really appreciated. ~ curtaintoad ~~ talk ~ 00:24, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Whatever curtaintoad said, and do also take a look at WP:PGA, WP:PVGA, T:TDYK. This is a relatively small wiki, and we need all the content help we can get. Chenzw Talk 09:18, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- OK, let me think about it first, and I will get back to you ASAP (may be as long as a month) after I'm done with some work back at en.wiki. Cheers. Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 14:58, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Final decision: Staying. :) --✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎ 13:19, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

changeChenzw, can I add (using HotCat) {{Category:Buddhists}} to every known Sri Lankan Buddhist? Cheers --Aaqib 20:16, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) For living people, you have to have a reliable reference to give a person's religion. For dead people, a reference is recommended but not strictly required. See en:WP:CAT/R for the guideline. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:35, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Hey there!
changeHey there Chenzw! Good to see you again! It's been, um... a couple of years. I'm glad to see you're still contributing to the simple wiki! — RyanCross (talk) 07:38, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- 3 months short of a "couple of years" :P I hope you do decide to stay on and edit a bit! (of course I know that real life catches up, but then...) It's great to see an old editor come by after a period of inactivity - and I thought everyone was going to maroon me on this wiki... Chenzw Talk 08:14, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- I think I'll have some time to edit more here and there now. Sometimes I'm on the computer when I'm on break from studying and I just ponder to myself... what am I doing? I could be helping people out, and Wikipedia is definitely a great place to do that with so many colleagues to work concomitant with the many tasks needed to be done. :)
- Nah, I wouldn't abandon you because I'm never truly away. I always find myself visiting to make a few edits every year, but I think this time I actually want to become more active again. Maybe not as active as 3 years ago, but checking in hopefully a few times a day at least would do more than satisfy. I'm also surprised to see User:Kennedy too! If I missed someone, I'll notice them very soon.
- Since I've probably missed quite a bit... would you mind telling me if there have been any major changes since I went on break? — RyanCross (talk) 09:44, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- As far as I can remember, no major changes in policy. Simple stub project has been elevated to guideline status, many more new cases of long-term abuse... Chenzw Talk 11:13, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Ban of Aaqib

I was about to delete this page because it's a copy of the enwiki article. However, I see that you changed it back in January. Do you see a reason not to delete it? --Auntof6 (talk) 20:26, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- Nope, please go ahead. I edited it back then to detransclude a deleted template. Chenzw Talk 12:21, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have deleted it. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:29, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
Deletion of articles
changeHello Chenzw. I'm a English school teacher and new user. I've been working on a project with my class for them to make pages of famous Japanese people who are not on Simple Wikipedia. So far, three students have posted something, but all three were promptly deleted by you for not being notable. Was this because they hadn't any references? Is it possible to put some kind of marker on pages to ask for more time to fix them as the school weeks progress? All pages will be good under my supervision, but it will take time. Finally, can I retrieve the information that was deleted so that my students can pick up where they left off? Thank you, Hokusei Power Hokuseipower (talk) 06:44, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, sorry for the inconvenience brought about by the deletion. Can you please let me know the names of the affected articles, or the usernames of the students who were involved? I will get the articles restored promptly. In the future, you can add {{class project}} to the top of the page. Chenzw Talk 10:29, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) The pages were probably deleted because Chenzw didn't know that they were made by students. Please see :Wikipedia:Schools for more information on how school projects work on Simple English Wikipedia. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 07:28, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
- Reception, your comment wasn't particularly useful here. Chenzw Talk 10:29, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
