I have nominated this category, which you created on 26 August for QD, as "Writers from the United States" has existed since June 2006. Thought you would like to know.--`Barliner´******`talk´ 20:32, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:Helping with Endorphin change

Its a very-decent article, with details and references. But I think it has like 4 redlinks left, although that dosen't seem to be so much of a problem. I've added some external links on the bottom. Other than that, I think the article could warrant a VGA tag. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 22:56, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also I moved it to the proposing section of WP:PVGOOD:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 22:57, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to notify you that your article, Endorphin, failed to pass the voting procedure with 2 supports, and 1 neutral. Usually, it is required to have 3 supports to have an article pass VGA. But please do not take it seriously as I also think that it is an interesting article that you've written. If you want to re-propose the article for VGA later, you may do so. Cheers:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 03:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sure, no problem! I think it is good to let the article grow better, and perhaps re-propose it after some time. - Huji reply 06:48, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sportvereinigung Dynamo and User:Kay Körner change

Just thought I'd better drop you guys a heads up on this user. He's been blocked at en:Wikipedia and de:Wikipedia for persistent POV editing, list and image spamming, inane wikilinks, offensive comments, undoing corrections to English language translations, edit warring ... and generally uncivil behaviour(!). He's also had similar stuff wiped at Commons and other wiki sites. He runs several sockpuppets including variations on Kay Körner, en:User:Fox53, en:User:Nadia Kittel, en:User:Captain Future and IPs out of Dresden, Germany (en:Category:Suspected_Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Fox53). His targets include articles around the themes of East Germany, that country's sports clubs and security forces, and the SS. He's a first class pain and now that he's found you, you're in for a lot of nuisance cleanup as he works his way around. And he'll be happy to ignore you regardless of how polite or stern you are with him. You might want to let him know that you're aware of his conduct elsewhere to see if it helps at all (but I doubt it). Good luck with it. You can find me as en:User:Wiggy!. 99.228.127.73 01:17, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Evening Prayer (Anglican) change

I notice you've put a 'cleanup' tag on Evening Prayer (Anglican). What do you think needs to be done to the page to make it better? Any suggestions gladly received. Hikitsurisan 12:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are parts of text that should be rewritten (example: it is a service that is sung nearly every day; service is not a simple word here and should be either changed or linked to its meaning).
Some sections should be totally rewritten. For example it reads "Evensong developed from the evening services that", which needs a good undersatnding of "evening services" before hand. I think it can be rewritten in a way that a non-christian user who is not a native English speaker can understand them easily.
The "Music" section should be broken to two or more paragraphs, I think.
These are the things I can notice now. I may give it a deeper look later and post to the article's talk page.

Advice change

A user is asking if I want to be nomimnated admin by them, but, to meet become an admin the criteria says you have to have e-mail (which I don't) but since this is a proposed policy I was wondering if I could still let the user nominate me for adminship or not, and if I pass not have to get e-mail, thanks Oysterguitarist 14:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I think we should respect the "soul" of the rules, not their wording. I never check other admins to make sure they have email addresses (as you know, they can have one, but remove it from their Wiki preferences later); however, I require all of them to have one, because, when they block a user, it is possible that the user would like to discuss the block with them, and as a blocked user, he can't do it on Wiki, so the only remaining option would be to use the "E-mail this user" feature, which only works when the admin has activated his/her email address in the Wiki.
So, I believe you should have an email adress connected to your Wiki username. I think it is very easy to create a gmail address and check it regularly, so I see no reason for you not to set an email address for your Wiki account.
Best regards, - Huji reply 19:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Can't they use the {{unblock}}? JetLover Bam! 22:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
What I gave above was only on example of when emails are used. There are other cases (like reporting an issue to an admin and seeking help, without publishing the information on wiki). - Huji reply 22:22, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am well aware of why emails are used it's that I'd prefer to not have to, I will wait for the criteria for adminship to be finished before being nominated, since being an admin is not a big deal to me. Oysterguitarist 23:10, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hujibot change

when adding the template:uncat, the bot seems to have a problem with Kraft Foods. Is it because the only category the Kraft Foods article is in is automatically added by template:nyse? I assume it will add uncat to any article which is only in a category by virtue of a template. -- Barliner  talk  18:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The bot cannot find the uncat pages in a full automatic way. There always is the possibility of fals positives. Because of that, I never find uncat pages in an autonomous manner, and always review all of the pages marked as uncat by the bot, to make sure it has done it correctly.
The only way HujiBot understands an article is categorized is by finding [[Category: command directly. Pages added to one or more categories only by addition of templates, are all thought to be uncategorized. Nevertheless, the bot doesn't mark them as uncategorized if it finds a template on them which is known to add the articles to a subjective category (like {{BD}} or {{Harry Potter}}), but the list of such templates is hard-coded, and needs to be updated as a new such template is added to our wiki. If you found a template which is both missed by the bot and me, please let me know.
Hope it helps, - Huji reply 19:12, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

RfD on numbers change

Why are you putting up {{RfD}} templates on every number articles, I think that simplewiki should keep them since they are high-topic articles. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 18:21, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I'll give my reasons on WP:RFD in a minute, and you can comment there. :) - Huji reply 18:23, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well anyone else is welcome to edit and improve these articles so personally, I don't think the RfDs on the numbers would be really necessary. But I'll try to put some info into the numbers. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 18:42, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good Morning Huji. Thank you for your reply. I am currently not happy with Creol after their accusations that "...it just appears the user is trying to get the tools just to get them and not to provide additional service." This is very, very untrue. I want the tools so I can help. Creol has made me very upset. All I want to do is just to be able to help this project to my full extent I can. I were being mentored at EN (see this), have tried to get mentoring here. I would like it if I were to have mentoring reinstated over here, preferably by you, Snake311 or Vector, preferably ASAP. I have closed the RfA at 1/7/0. If you could please reply ASAP, that will be nice. -- Spiderpig0001 Does whatever a spiderpig does! 19:07, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Patrolled Edits change

What does it mean to have pages patrolled? -Razorflame 19:59, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you are asking about patrolling new pages here. It means, an administrator has checked the newly created page, and made sure it is not the result of vandalism. With this feature, admins will not review a newly created page two times, and there will be less overlap in what admins do, hence more time for other important tasks. Re:Refernces change

In en wikipedia, many users have different ways on how to style out theur references. During my experience on en wiki (at the time), several users used that method which eventually I ended up using too. While I might have overdone it here, I have reverted my edit in case you were pissed off about it.

P.S. Right now, I caught the flu so whatever I do or say might sound weird. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 08:05, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thnk yu:o) Also its like 12:30 in the morning where I live so I gonna go to bed. 'Nit:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 08:23, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello Huji, about the refernces discussion you wanted to talk about, I learned it myself from en wiki before I came to simplewiki. Then, I was a newbie to the huge wiki. I decided to help in the tropical cyclone section where the job was to write all tropical cyclone articles, track new storms and seasons, protome tropical cyclone articles to featured article status and the rest. Several notable editors (who I'm not gonna name), used this way to write down references.
 <div class="references-small">
 <references/>
 </div>
Eventually over time, I also ended up using the same method as they did. In simplewiki, most people use the {{Reflist}} template to the refernce sections. But I still use my old way. While they are both technically the same thing, only my method has the references only slightly smaller (if you probably look very closely). Well that is the story of how I wrote down the references instead of using the template. I hope this answers your questions, if that was what you were asking for:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 04:10, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

About Good articles change

Hi Huji, I was wondering if you could give me some answers to this on-going issue. Currently, Gwib and Eptalon wants to freeze the VGA process and demote them all to GA articles. Right now, I oppose the idea of demoting all of the current VGA articles and to tighten the VGA criteria. Gwib thinks that I and the other editors have done a lously job on the 32 articles and says such things like not enough refs or external links and no pictures. Currently, me, you, Thamusemeantfan, and Lights are probably the only ones who remain active to the VGA process while Gwib has left for 2 months, and almost immediately after arriving, critizies the VGAs.

Additionally, I oppose the idea of having good articles before having an article assessment scale since it would throw off all of simplewiki's articles based on how good they are. My alternative to this plan is to instead start an assessment scale first, then probably create GAs (without demoting the current VGAs). Also, one thing I can't believe is everybody shooting down my ideas and supporting Gwib's:( --§ Snake311 (T + C) 02:13, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, for sure! I'll be glad to help you (if I can) by giving answers.
First of all, I think we should freeze VGA process because there is an innegligible amount of disagreement between people about it. I'm not totally in agreement with the idea of changing all current VGAs to GAs; I prefer to only apply this change to those VGAs which do not meet "all" of the VGA criteria. However, we need to discuss it more; I may change my mind after reading what other people think about it (including you).
Whether a person is actively contributing to VGA process or not is not a reason to give a weight to their opinion. People who don't really participate in a process can still be good third-person critics to it. On the other hand, there are times when people who are regularly practicing something don't notice their flaws (or the flaws of the system itself). If I were you, I would reconsider my point of view about Gwib's contributions to this discussion.
Finally, it is nothing about you or Gwib which makes people disagree with yours or agree with his. Both of you have a chance to promote your ideas, and the community reads both of them. Perhaps you should accept that the community likes the other idea more than yours. Perhaps, instead of opposing what Gwib has said thus far, you should suggest minor changes to it. Maybe you should try to make what the community accepts better, instead of trying to change the decision of the community.
Hope you find it helpful. - Huji reply 14:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have listed my alternate proposal on Wikipedia talk:Proposed very good articles. Basically, it is similar with the other proposals, but some differences. I don't know wether my suggestions may be heard or ignored, I wanted to prove my point that I at least tried. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 00:35, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Time change

Probably, but only for about a month rather than the three I had to kill during the summer holidays. Btw currently fighting for higher standards in the VG article process (as Snake has shown you already). I want your opinion, any way that it may be, since you're one of the few editors I really know here.
Fill me in on what happened whilst I was away, please! Any new admins?
Gwib-(talk)- 15:31, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well. We have some new admins (the last one was User:Cometstyles if I'm not wrong), and some more rejected RfAs (you know where to find them). We reached more than 21000 articles recently. VGAs are still being shown on the home page, but the formulation was changed a little (doesn't make any obvious change to the end user). Nothing else I can remember.
And for the opinion, I'll post on the pages where the discussion is happening, to keep things concentrated.
Cheers, - Huji reply 21:57, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:VGA change

Thanx:) I have also posted my alternative proposal for the new VGA/GA criteria on Wikipedia talk:Proposed very good articles‎, although as I expected it was overlooked by many other editors. While I still have little confidence that my ideas will be heard from other users, I decided to leave the VGA/GA project if I don't find the criteria fit to my standards. Also so that I wouldn't be a pain to the rear behind to the other editors.

P.S. What do you think of this? --§ Snake311 (T + C) 02:30, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, I have finished up the entire work for Neptune (planet). It is a very decent article, but I cannot nominate it for VGA because of the on-going debate. Also I have just read the current criteria proposals for VGA articles and GA articles. My opinion was that the VGA criteria was just too strict for this wiki. Also the criteria for GA articles were really sloppy to my opinion, not that they were too strict, but that its procedure is bascially nearly identical with the VGA counterpart. Anyhow, I have justed finished school for this year and may be able to spend more time on this wiki like Gwib. Cheers and happy holidays:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 02:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
