Port Arthur massacreEdit

Hi Kumioko, I noticed you have tagged the Port Arthur massacre as a "military-stub". Military? I do not understand your thinking here. This is a terrible murder yes, but a military action hardly. There are no soldiers, army, battle etc. Just a looney and a powerful gun.--Peterdownunder (talk) 22:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

No worries, good catch, I reverted it. Let me know if you see anything else. I was just trying to make some of the 6000+ articles with the generic stub tag something more meaningful. Kumioko (talk) 23:07, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

I was just looking at Tiffany Cross Medal of Honor. When you create an article that has an equivalent in another language's Wikipedia, including English, please include an interwiki link. That's different from the attribution, which I see on the talk page. An interwiki link would go at the bottom of the article, and would look like this:

[[en:Tiffany Cross Medal of Honor]]

Not only will this let people find the current version of the article, it will also tell bots that they should check for more interwikis to add. Any questions? Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 17:33, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I usually do but sometimes I forget. I have noticed that there are a couple bots that add them as well. Kumioko (talk) 17:39, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
The bots only add them if there's at least one already there. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:02, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh ok good to know thanks. Kumioko (talk) 19:03, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Not actually true. A number of them add them even if they aren't there, but sometimes there is a wait for that to happen. -DJSasso (talk) 00:48, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, either way I'll try and remember to add them when I create the article. I just need to get in the habit. Kumioko (talk) 00:59, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Flood flagEdit

Do you want the flood flag? Kansan (talk) 19:13, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, maybe later I'm done for now. Kumioko (talk) 19:46, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Year and millennium articles and categoriesEdit

Hey, thanks for the new articles and categories for years and millennia! Please remember to simplify the text when you copy from enwiki. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:19, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

No problem. Most are pretty short and didn't have many big words but I am still getting used to Simple terminology so could you give me an example of one that needs to be simplified? Kumioko (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Sure. It's not just how big the words are, it's also what they are. In general, sentences should be shorter. Here are some specific words that could be simplified:
  • From 1074: battling, approaching, unites, rejects, proposal, adopt
  • From 1091: occupies, heir, recorded, surrender (in the sense used here), homage, besiege, oblivion, confronted, obtains
  • From 1092: consecrated, treatise, celestial atlas, annexes
Does that help? --Auntof6 (talk) 20:39, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Yeah that helps thanks. Kumioko (talk) 21:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Good. Those were examples. Many of the other pages need similar simplifying. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:23, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
