ArticleEugene Thomas LongEdit

The article submitted is written by me and is not copywrited ETL3rd (talk) 20:46, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

The article entitled Eugene Thomas Long recently submitted was written by me Eugene Thomas Long and is not copyrighted. I can add publications and also a festschrift edited by wallulis and HACKETT for further references ETL3rd (talk) 20:49, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

It appears a system operator determined some portion of the article you created was not a copyright violation and restored the article. The trouble is a significant portion of the article was a copied from something that existed elsewhere. If you've written the same words elsewhere, the difficulty is determining if you are, in fact, the author and if proper license can be released to reuse the content here on Wikipedia. The easiest route to correct this issue is paraphrasing content that may exist elsewhere. Additionally, Wikipedia specifically discourages all editors from creating or editing articles about themselves, their family, or their employers as this presents a conflict of interest concern for the content. Education parameterEdit

Please check to see if the education parameter is already there. Some of your changes are adding pages to Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:40, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

@Auntof6: Just caught that. I'll correct those goofs as soon as I complete the AWB work. Sorry about that! Operator873talkconnect 02:42, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
Sounds good, thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:47, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Jade ThompsonEdit

Do you believe me now about Jade Thompson? (talk) 20:44, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

@ believing you is not the issue. Wikipedia is a community project. If one person doesn't believe an article should be included, they are welcome to tag it for quick deletion or nominate the article for deletion. This request is reviewed by a system administrator and they decide if the article should be deleted or kept. In this case, the admin decided to keep the article. I reverted your edit when you removed the quick delete tag because this is specifically against Wikipedia policy, not because I did or didn't believe the article should be kept or deleted. I've since added references to the article because the article needs references. I noticed you could not determine how to add the required references the message telling others to add references to the talk page. However, this is incorrect. References are able to added to articles just like the other Wikipedia projects. Before you make further edits, I'd strongly encourage you to review this page and become familiar with this project and what the content should include as well as how to add proper references by reading this page.
Additionally, you should keep in mind this is not my Wikipedia, nor is it yours. This project belongs to the community and the community at large will decide what is kept and what is not. Operator873talkconnect 20:53, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

My User PageEdit

Hi why did u delete stuff from my user page are you thinking im a vandal or something? Please explain? Gassywood (talk) 21:37, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

The {{helpme}} template should only be used on talk pages and only by those who are asking a question. If you need assistance with something, I'll gladly help. Otherwise, please don't use the template inappropriately. Operator873talkconnect 21:40, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Gladiatorial QuestionEdit

On the Jade Thompson article. How can I add extra references in the existing template? GladiatorGal3 (talk) 13:18, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

@GladiatorGal3: Good morning! Your answer depends on what edit interface you work with. I glanced over your contributions and really wasn't able to determine if you use the visual editor or the source editor. I use and am most familiar with the source editor, so I'll explain that one first. To add a new inline reference to the text, you'll need to add the <ref> </ref> tags in the appropriate place in the text. This is the absolute minimum requirement, but it is better to then use one of these {{Citation}}, {{cite web}}, {{cite news}}, etc templates inside the ref tags. Don't panic. This sounds a lot more complicated than it is, but I promise it's not. At the bottom of the article, under the == References == heading, add the template {{reflist}} and it will generate your references from the inline citations.
The best way to get a handle on how to do inline citations is to look at ones that already exist. Cruise through, find an article that has some references, and look at how they are built. The official guide for creating references is at WP:CITE. Since I'm not very familiar with the visual editor, I'll let that page guide you through adding references from the visual interface.
One more thing, while I was looking at your contributions, I've noticed you've created several new articles and added a lot to some existing articles. Thank you! However, these new articles may get deleted and your edits may be reverted because they introduce complex English to the articles. This is not English Wikipedia. We are the Simple English Wikipedia which means our articles should not contain words that may be difficult to understand by perhaps a non-native speaker, for example. Check out WP:SIMPLE for more info on this. We try to keep the content of our articles limited to a specific wordlist. If you aren't sure if you can use a word in an article, check out this list and see if it's on there. You can, in some instances, create a wikilink for the word if there is an article that explains thermodynamics for example.
We are a lot different versues the English Wikipedia. I strongly suggest you read this user essay written by one of our admins, Auntof6. On this page, she explains some of our community's more subtle differences. Again, WELCOME and do not hesitate to reach out to me again if you have further questions or just need help. You can click the word 'connect' in my signature and reach me via IRC for fastest response. Happy editing! Operator873talkconnect 15:57, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

alma_mater parameterEdit

Hi. It has come to my attention that "alma_mater" is not actually deprecated. I believe the person who created Category:Infobox person using alma mater thought it was, just because there's a category tracking it, and so they put that category in the deprecated parameter category. So please stop eliminating it. Further, I hate to ask, but what would it take to undo the changes you already made? If you'd like help with that, I'd be glad to help if you can identify the pages that were changed. Sorry to be the bearer if bad tidings.

Going forward, the way to tell if a parameter is really deprecated is that you'll see a message saying so if you preview an article that uses it. Let me know if you'd like more info on that. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:03, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

@Auntof6: thanks for letting me know. I'll start reverting my edits. Operator873talkconnect 20:01, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
All edits have been rolled back. Operator873talkconnect 20:59, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Operator873. I know that wasn't fun and was probably frustrating. I asked the person who created the category to be more careful if they create more similar categories. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:22, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
@Auntof6: No worries. Just one of the hazards of the job working here and part of the experience. Operator873talkconnect 22:29, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Thank youEdit

I saw your invite. I can't access that link at work (which is where I contribute ). Thank you anyway! Necromonger Wekeepwhatwekill 21:12, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Your changesEdit

No, I'm not going to yell at you for nuking the article :). Hey, I asked for feedback and I got it, so no worries. I'm curious about why you made such a deep cut? Was it too technical or did you think it wasn't pertinent. (I'm not looking for a loophole, I'm just curious! ). :) Necromonger Wekeepwhatwekill 15:28, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Successful RfAEdit

Congratulations on your successful RfA. Take care of your new position, and do not be afraid to ask questions if you have a concern before taking any Admin actions. Also don't delete the Main Page. --Enfcer (talk) 19:27, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

@Barras: @Eptalon: Barras or Eptalon can you please add Operator873 to the Simple Admin Mailing list. Also Barras can you take care of the IRC channel accesses? --Enfcer (talk) 19:27, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Congrats. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 01:44, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks @1997kB: I was at work when I did that, and copied from another RfA one I had done, and forgot to change those ... trying to save time, and not get it done right -- Enfcer (talk) 01:53, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks 1997kB! Operator873talkconnect 17:37, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Congrats. Take your time doing things, don't rush into using the tools. Oh and don't get too upset when you realize you were suckered into being an admin. -DJSasso (talk) 17:29, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Thank you DJSasso! And I knew I was being suckered in back in June. HAHA! Operator873talkconnect 17:37, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Thank you Eptalon! Operator873talkconnect 17:37, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Just remember redirects are cheap, if they are remotely reasonable then you should just leave them. -DJSasso (talk) 17:44, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

@Djsasso: Yeah I was on the fence about some of them. Leaving them may also solve the problem of them being recreated as well. Operator873talkconnect 17:45, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Exactly, the biggest way to prevent silly creations is to have something there in the first place. I didn't think to mention it in this case, but you will often see me making small stubs instead of just outright deleting vandalism because having something then tends to prevent the recreations. Really just comes down to how much time you want to spend. :) -DJSasso (talk) 17:47, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
@Djsasso: Makes sense. I appreciate your thoughts and agree. Going forward, I'll use that ideal. Operator873talkconnect 17:53, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Why you delete Page Sm KaifEdit

Boss Sm Kaif is not a common boy he is the best programmer I have ever met in my whole life if you can revert your change on the page Sm Kaif, So I am thankful to you.-- Warren Bilky Talk 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@Warren Bilky: The community consensus was to delete the article as the subject is not notable. Subject matter of articles on Wikipedia must meet certain requirements in order to be included. This is the reason why I don't have an article about me. Operator873talkconnect 17:02, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
@Operator873: You are right, I want more references.-- Warren Bilky Talk 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@Iamskylord: Followers and subscriptions do not determine notability. Significant, in-depth coverage by independent sources subject to editorial review (see WP:GNG and WP:RS). Additionally, yes, you have several references here, but none of them are in-depth coverage about the person. They are passing mentions that don't describe or talk much about Rathee. In other words, being mentioned in an article is not an article about him. Lastly, it seems your CapsLock key is on. Operator873talkconnect 16:52, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
@Iamskylord: Additionally, you should keep your concerns about this article on the request for deletion. Operator873talkconnect 16:54, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

This article is about Hamza Hamry I want to create it.Edit

This article is based on Hamza Hamry I want to answer him if there are mistakes please repair it. Please help me to create the article and thank you for your response and your interest. Hamryhamza12 (talk) 03:57, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

I've requested this article to be deleted as the subject is not notable. You may explain why you believe the article should be kept on that page. Additionally, your account name implies you shouldn't edit this article due to conflict of interests concerns. Operator873talkconnect 04:00, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
