Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel. although there is no international recognition becouse of the UN, so most embassies are in Tel Aviv. פארוק (talk) 04:52, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The category is placed on Category:Jerusalem, not the article. That's the normal way of setting up a category tree. Consequently:
Also, since you keep removing another category: part of it is also internationally recognised as being part of Palestine. We represent all viewpoints here, especially that of the majority. Please stop pushing this same POV repeatedly. Osiris (talk) 04:56, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
And there is a country Today that called : " Palestine "  ? . if there is such a country like that, so is no problem. פארוק (talk) 05:01, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

┌────────────────┘
...According to over two-thirds of world governments there is. You've had this discussion multiple times on the English Wikipedia. The practices are no different here, and bringing your disruption over here could easily result in a reciprocal block. Do you understand how the category tree works, or do I need to explain it better? Osiris (talk) 05:05, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok. פארוק (talk) 05:26, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thank you so much for giving me the rollback right. It will help me a lot.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 18:25, 11 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

No problem! :) Osiris (talk) 04:39, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the upgrade

I saw that you have made me a "patroller". What is that? Do I have any duty or what? Anyhow, thank you very much! --Jmarcano (talk) 18:28, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

No problem. No extra duties or anything, it just means that the pages you create don't need "patrolling" (fixing formatting/copyediting, etc). You can read a bit more about it here. Osiris (talk) 01:13, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Importing .js and .css from other Wikipedias

I see in your monobook.js page that you import some .js pages from enwiki. Is there a way to import .css pages as well? --Auntof6 (talk) 23:22, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would have thought you know more about this stuff than I do; I usually just copy from other people's scripts! On en:Help:User style it says:

To import CSS from a user subpage, use the importStylesheet command in your common.js: importStylesheet( 'User:Example/stylesheet.css' );

If that doesn't work, I have no idea. Osiris (talk) 01:22, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'll take that view of my abilities as a compliment! My background is actually in mainframe computing -- I'm completely self-taught in the stuff we use here and I'm pretty new to it. I'll play around with it, and maybe just copy the code I want to my own userspace in the meantime. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 02:42, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

You can also import in the CSS file itself FWIW -- see ro:User:PiRSquared17/common.css for an example. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:06, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Meriç Soylu

This is notable Turkish directors Meriç Soylu stars... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.253.203.124 (talkcontribs) 07:31, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. If she is notable, the article needs to demonstrate this through reliable sources. On the Turkish Wikipedia, editors decided that this person was not notable enough for an article. I've put it up for deletion so that our editors can also decide one way or the other. Osiris (talk) 05:10, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you :)

Thank you for helping improve my Simple Wikipedia articles. :) I really appreciate it. :) I try to model some things but forget about things like year of birth when creating stub articles to still add the category if I know them. :( --LauraHale (talk) 05:16, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Oh, no problem! :) I'm the same with interwikis. Just going through NewPages and yours were the easiest so I looked at them first. Osiris (talk) 05:24, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have been trying to add the interwiki links on wikidata as soon as I create them. :) Doing some of this as prep work for the Winter Paralympics next year. It is also nice get more use of pictures. Trying to keep the simple and hoping that maybe later people can improve them. *babbles* Anyway, I do appreciate the assistance. :) Small wikis can sometimes be PITA because not that many people to handle problems. (One day, it might be interesting to do an analysis like Blocks on English Wikinews for simple to see if Simple English Wikipedia is closer to English Wikipedia or English Wikinews in block related causes. --LauraHale (talk) 05:31, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ah! Yeah, we have a good representation here of articles on Aussie Paralympians thanks to you. Are you going again this year? Interesting graphs; I suspect this project's "reasons by year" graph will look very similar to that one. Osiris (talk) 05:52, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have the option of going to the 2014 Winter Paralympics as a member of the media if I want to. I attended two skiing events, one in Colorado and one in Spain, to make this possible. :) We have pictures of at least 100 skiers who will probably be there on Commons as a result. (Creating articles only on skiers I think will be at 2014 Games and where I have pictures of them.) I may get around to creating articles about Spanish Paralympians in the next few months.
The block reason thing done by an English Wikipedian was interesting. Good to know that you think Simple Wikipedia is the same. I get the feeling that the Wnglish Wikipedia one is a case where if smaller projects do not say "This does not match with our experience. Evidence right here." there could be people who then make high level decisions about other projects based on it. --LauraHale (talk) 06:08, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Very cool. We have next to no regular sports contributors here, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some more of that. If you need any help with anything I'll be happy to oblige. Osiris (talk) 06:40, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Did a very poor job at Para-alpine skiing classification but I think classification articles for disability sport are important to understand what is happening more than the main sport article. (Nominated it for DYK.) I should try to add Para-alpine skiing so wikilinked anchors can be added to terms like Giant Slalom, which I know is NOT simple. Today is just off task day, so doing things on Simple. I am treating skier like a simple term. Goal is to get the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing Championship skiers done today. Finished the men. Need to do the women. --LauraHale (talk) 07:54, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hey Osiris, are there any plans you might run for bureaucrat, checkuser or oversighter someday? curtaintoad | chat me! 14:49, 18 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think we've got enough people doing those duties, and I've enough on my plate as it is. Osiris (talk) 05:36, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Samoset

I do not believe this article should be deleted. I have given the reasons on the Samoset Talk Page and also on my own Talk Page. It represents first contact with the Native American population by the Mayflower passengers and without the help of Samoset, the Europeans at Plymouth Colony may not have survived.

This man is notable because he inter-connects with many other articles that are presently on Simple Wikipedia.

I have just now greatly simplified the language to meet the requirements of Simple Wikipedia and if there is any way that you wish me to further improve this article, please do not hestiate to inform me. I will be reading and researching on Samoset in the meantime.

Thanks MySweetMelissa (talk) 12:22, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Shallot

I rather liked the idea of a poem called the "Lady of Shallot". Sometimes I think we should keep these little treasures on a special page. --Peterdownunder (talk) 05:19, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hehehe, yes, who knew onions featured so prominently in Arthurian tales? ;) Osiris (talk) 05:30, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Could that be King Arthur of Cantaloupe?--Peterdownunder (talk) 05:46, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
That's the one!   Osiris (talk) 05:55, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Libya

Thanks for merging the articles on Libya! It looks better now and makes more sense to have just one article. Thanks again --Tbennert (talk) 03:40, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

A tool that might interest you

I brought over a tool from enwiki that I thought you might be interested in. It changes the color of some Wikipedia links. For example, it assigns different colors to links to dab pages (yellow), redirects (green), and pages that have delete requests (pink). (It probably does more, but I don't use all of the functionality and I took some out that wasn't working here.) I mostly like it for seeing links to dab pages in an article, so I know to try to fix them. Its also helpful to see when a template has links to redirects so I can fix that. If you're interested in trying it, the code to invoke is in my common.js file. If you want, I can provide a screen print that shows the different colors. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:22, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cool! I've just added it to my monobook.js file. Although I think I might customise it so that it's not always on. Thanks for that! Osiris (talk) 06:58, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Glad you like it. :) The not-always-on thing could be good, because the time it needs to analyze the links does slow things down a bit. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:11, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mayflower

Hi, are we working with the one brain? I started writing my comments, had to answer the door, came back and saved them to find that you had written nearly the same comments. Eerie. --Peterdownunder (talk) 07:04, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm glad somebody had the same thoughts! When I wrote it I was thinking that I was going to be all alone... Osiris (talk) 07:28, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Suspicious editing

Edits by this user are often followed by edits this user. This edit is what caught my attention : "is a house within philosophy's major branch". I'm not around much these days but I thought I should point this one out to an admin. Slightsmile (talk) 01:54, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I'll have a closer look at the content tomorrow. It's about half a year ago, so it's difficult to pursue it beyond the IP addresses that you've given me. I go through most anonymous edits to articles pretty regularly, and haven't noticed anything very similar. Osiris (talk) 18:27, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
