Deletions

change

Hi Faroukh. Let me explain what just happened. This project is written in simple English, so articles copied from the English Wikipedia aren't any good here. Therefore, I've had to delete most of the pages you've created because they weren't in simple English and they'd just been copied and pasted without any simplification. If you have any questions about writing in simple English, I can help you. Or have a read over Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. You can use content from another Wikipedia (even the Hebrew version), but it has to be translated. This page might help you on how to do this. A good way of getting practise is to start off articles in your sandbox/userspace. Let me know if you need any help. Best regards, and sorry for the annoyance, Osiris (talk) 22:25, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Specialized city

change

An editor has requested deletion of Specialized city, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2012/Specialized city and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. --Horeki (talk) 15:32, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Category:Arlington National Cemetery

change

Thanks for creating this category. You might not have known, but here on Simple English Wikipedia we want at least three entries in each new category. You put only one entry in it. I have added one more, but another one should be added. Do you have another entry in mind? --Auntof6 (talk) 06:37, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

change

I noticed that you have added interwiki links to some articles recently. Interwiki links are now supposed to be kept at Wikidata, not in the individual Wikipedia articles. Please maintain the interwiki links there. If you don't know how to do that, let me know and I will find the instructions for you. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 12:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. can you help me with that please ?, couse i don't know to use the new system. i want to writte more about the article about: "Arlington National Cemetery". פארוק (talk) 13:34, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
OK, I can't find a link to instructions right now, so I'll describe it myself. I'm assuming there is already an article in another Wikipedia, such as English Wikipedia.
  1. Go to the corresponding article at another Wikipedia.
  2. Find the list of interwiki links on the left side of the page. At the bottom of that list is a link to the Wikidata page for the article's links. On English Wikipedia, the link says "Edit links". Here on Simple English Wikipedia, it says "Change links". In other languages, it would be something similar in the other language.
  3. Click on that link. That takes you to the Wikidata page.
  4. Go to the bottom of that page. You will see a list of all the articles Wikidata knows about for the topic. The last line there just has a link that says "Add", with no language.
  5. Click on the "Add" link. That gives you a new line to add the link for a new article. The line has two edit boxes and links that say "save" and "cancel".
  6. In the first edit box, type "simple".
  7. In the second edit box, type the name of the article from Simple English Wikipedia.
  8. Click on "save". Your change should be saved. If there's a problem and you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll take a look at it.
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.
By the way, please reply here so that this conversation is all in one place. I will watch this page, so I'll see if you reply. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:08, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
I see you are still putting interwiki links in the new articles you create. These links should go in Wikidata, as described above. Do you still have questions about that? --Auntof6 (talk) 20:58, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Monuments and memorials in Mount Herzl

change

Just a note: when you put a page in this category, you don't need to put it in the category for buildings and structures in Jerusalem. Geographic coordinates in your new city articles

change

Something is wrong with the coding of the coordinates in the infobox on Tiberias. The same problem was on Safed, but I removed the coordinates parameters. I can't tell what's wrong. Can you see anything different with these from what's on other articles? --Auntof6 (talk) 23:48, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

You must give attribution when copying articles from other Wikipedias

change

Bustan (garden) is so similar to the article on English Wikipedia that either the article here was copied from enwiki or they were both copied from the same place. In either case, you must give attribution. Please add attribution to the article's talk page as soon as possible. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:31, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

You really do need to start giving attribution. Even if you just take a little bit from another wiki, you have to give credit. Recent examples are Bandai-Azuma Roadway and Mid-Sea Road. These are very short (that is another problem) but the information in the first one is exactly the same as EnWP. The images and titles for both are the same as EnWP. Please start giving attribution, or stop copying from other wikis. Attribution is one of the basics of Wikipedia. Thanks, Gotanda (talk) 21:42, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Update: And Colon Cemetery (not sure why you changed it from Colon Cemetery, Havana), China National Highways, Theodor Herzl, Urban Expressways (Japan). I'm sure there are more. Slow down, and do it correctly, please. Gotanda (talk) 21:50, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

QD International Center for Tzfat Kabbalah

change

I marked International Center for Tzfat Kabbalah for quick deletion as not notable. I found no mention in news sources. Just letting you know. Thanks. Gotanda (talk) 21:14, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

This shouldn't have been created, Faroukh. You're the author of every version of the article on other-language Wikipedias, but it's been deleted from several versions - eswiki and itwiki for not being notable, and even from your home wiki where you asked to move it into your userspace. If you can't show notability in your native language, then I don't see how you're going to be able to do it here. If you're going to try, please use your userspace instead until it's ready. Creating categories

change

Your two new categories Category:Roads in China and Category:Roads in India each have only one entry. You might not have known, but we want at least three entries in each new category. That is documented at Wikipedia:Categories#Is there a need for the new category? Do you plan to add at least two more entries for each of these categories? If so, please do so sooner rather than later. If not, please let me know so the categories can be deleted. Thank you. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:10, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I found two more entries to add to the India category, so that one is OK. I found one more for the China category, but it should still have another one. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:33, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

And now you have created Category:Roads in Japan with only one entry. Please stop creating categories with only one or two entries. Are you seeing these notes I have been leaving you? --Auntof6 (talk) 03:41, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Road articles

change

Some of your recent articles about roads do not say why the roads are notable. Please go back and add something about what makes them notable, preferably with a reference. Articles that do not show notability might be deleted. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:59, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Once more--you must give attribution when copying from another wikipedia

change

You have already been told about this, but you have not changed your behavior. You can use data, images, and sentences from another wikipedia if you simplify them. However, you must write on the talk page or the edit summary where you took the information from. Each of these articles you created is just a short version of the English Wikipedia article. Please read and follow Wikipedia:How_to_copy_from_another_Wikipedia.

Is there some reason why you do not want to give credit to the work of other editors on English Wikipedia? Please fix these. Thanks, Gotanda (talk) 04:21, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

You asked me to explain. I already have, but I will again. You can't just copy from another wikipedia. You have to tell where you copied from. Did you read the guideline at Wikipedia:How_to_copy_from_another_Wikipedia? It is very easy to do. Examples are at Wikipedia:Transwiki_attribution. Just use the code patterns there. Sources and language

change

Farouk,

I really want to try to help you keep your contributions here, and also at Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) Wikipedia, where I am an administrator. But I have a couple of problems doing that:

  1. You never include sources that say why these places are notable. We always want sources, even when it is obvious why the places are notable. (Also, remember that even when I personally understand the notability of some of your Israeli places, the general reader of this wiki may not. And you have to aim at the general reader, not me.)
  2. You have language issues. Here, I can and do clean them up some. On Judeo-Spanish Wikipedia, you are writing mostly in modern Spanish and not in Judeo-Spanish, and I can't write JS well enough to fix your articles. So other administrators delete them.
