London King's Cross railway station
I now referenced London King's Cross railway station. I dunno who started the article, but it fits the criteria. You can add the hook to the Next Update - it is properly referenced by two ref's. J. B. A. (talk) 08:09, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- PS: I just saw in the page's history that you started it! Well, this'll be your second DYK then, very good! J. B. A. (talk) 08:12, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! Best wishes. Pmlinediter Talk 08:12, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Here take a look at: Template:Did you know/Next update - your DYK is now on there. We still need one. Taak a look at the nominations and see which one you can improve, then you'll see yours appearing on the main page as soons as we have a fifth hook! Cheers! J. B. A. (talk) 08:21, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
DYK
Can you please update DYK since we have 5 hooks in the next update? Thanks. Cheers, Pmlinediter Talk 09:04, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- There is only one nomination ready, its probably best not to update it yet... Or are you asking me to help find hooks? That I can do. I'll see what I can do :) Kennedy (talk) 09:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Please keep the hooks for 10 days, or a week at minimum, per my suggestion at WT:DYK. Ten days would be an update on Saturday. Cheers, Goblin 09:19, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, let it be Saturday. Actually, I am used to the en system where hooks are updated every day (and where the DYK rules are quite strict). However, I do not think that it is a good idea to use GAs and
FAVGAs for hooks since they are for encouraging users to edit the articles from where the hooks appear. Enwiki says "The DYK section gives publicity to newly created or expanded Wikipedia articles, as a way of thanking the editors who create new content and to encourage other editors to contribute to and improve those articles and the encyclopedia." We aren't en, but shouldn't we stick somewhat to its formula? I mean DYK is for encouraging editors to edit small articles which by their effort can be promoted to GA. And on another note, are the users here not in the tradition of using {{talkback}} templates? Cheers, Pmlinediter Talk 09:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC).- No worries. We haven't got the interest or man power for updates every 6 hours, so 10 days sounded good to me. I would agree in principle to what you say about (V)GAs, thus why I am opposed to VGAs being included. GAs are more a contingency plan imo. Some people do use talkback, but I tend not to use it because I put a blanket statement on my userpage and also in this case I was TPS'ing... Damn! Caught again!. Also, the wiki is slow moving at times so replies can be seen in RC. Regards, Goblin 09:44, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- But we do require some assistance from users of other wikis. Just yesterday, we had a discussion regarding it. Pmlinediter Talk 09:58, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Seconded, any ideas? (Shall we move this away from Kennedy's TP too?) Goblin 10:08, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

DYK
Someone removed my DYK nom (on Jouke de Vries)... Because it wasn't interesting enough? I re-added with a more interesting fact (backed by ref)... this Jouko was almost faction leader of the Dutch leader in 2002 (lost to Wouter Bos). That is more interesting, isn't it? :) J. B. A. (talk) 12:00, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- I have reviewed your DYK nom. Pmlinediter Talk 12:07, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
The hook is covered by the ref's used in the article, as I already said. You can pass it now. It has three references and has more then 800 characters so it fits all the criteria. J. B. A. (talk) 12:19, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well... ?
PS: Don't make such a deal out of the whole roleback situation please. I left my computer for a while, came back, and I got "new messages" on my tp, all about what I should not do with my rollback rights. Come on - I was just trying it out! :) J. B. A. (talk) 14:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Regarding your DYk, I am still not convinced whether it should be included. And regarding rollback, Kennedy and PeterSymonds and I made few comments regarding usage of rollback. Rollback is granted to trusted users and you must follow policy when you use it for rollback is "nothing more momentous than installing Twinkle" per en. Cheers, Pmlinediter Talk 14:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC).
- I understand the whole policy regarding rollback.
Regarding DYK: the article fits the criteria, it has 800+ characters, it has three individual references, it has no red links. The hook is interesting enough (not less interesting then a hook on a railway station or about ants). J. B. A. (talk) 14:17, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Barnstar
Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!
You are hereby awarded a barnstar for your work on DYK! *applause* Congratulations! I'm sorry its green! Kennedy (talk) 09:10, 21 May 2009 (UTC) |
Status template
:O Is that my status template?!?! How dare you! ;). I hope you like it, though a credit would be appreciated, as it did take me quite a while to make that from scratch. :P Obviously I can't force you though ;). Goblin 11:40, 23 May 2009 (UTC) And yes, this post is just one big joke, don't take it seriously!
Thanks!
Wikibreak?
Why? Barras (talk) 11:15, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I have got a GAN at en on hold and have to work on it. Also, I have a GAR on my hands. Perhaps, I could have worked at Simple simultaneously, but I am really not at all impressed by it's ideals. However, I'll return by next week. Pmlinediter Talk 11:19, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Accepted ;) I rember you to come back next week :) Barras (talk) 11:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
India
Hello, I have looked at India and left some comments on its talk page. I am confident the issues can be fixed though. On a side-note, User:The Rambling Man is better at such reviews; also note that I am not a native English speaker. --Eptalon (talk) 12:32, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- As you might see, I am on a wikibreak. I'll address these issues when I come back next week. Pmlinediter Talk 12:34, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
DYK templates
Hi! Kennedy probably used it because it was in a non-English language (Dutch) and therefore not accessible to most editors on seWP. It's not a big deal but, the template is for references that are not accessible to editors (for whatever reason) but your faith in reference still allows you to approve it (IE: in good faith). If you can access (and read) the citation via the Internet, then the correct template is {{DYKyes}}; but as I said, it's not a massive deal! :-) fr33kman talk 07:59, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, fine. But I have heard of {{DYKyes}}. I am on a semi wikibreak and really have no time to come back and change the template. It has been accepted for the next update, however. Pmlinediter Talk 08:03, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
I nominated the article on Jelckama for GA. It now fits all the criteria (alot of work has been done) and perhaps you could take a look, cast a vote? Oh, and didn't you plan on nominating Kings Cross Station as GA overhere? Mighty Wodan (talk) 09:25, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- I am on a semi wikibreak now. Pmlinediter Talk 09:29, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
DYK
Please be patient. Your nomination will be reviewed in due time, and badgering of users to do so reflects poorly on your communication. Patience is a virtue. ;) Meetare Shappy Cunkelfratz! 11:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oh fine. Sorry. Pmlinediter Talk 07:00, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: Your message at User talk:PirateSmackK
Please try to assume good faith when talking with other editors, which you did not do on User talk:PirateSmackK. Thank you. Alexius08 (talk) 13:34, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for reminding me, Alexius. I had strong opinions against PirateSmackK and thus made my remarks. I apologize for a harsh comment, but do not take them back. Simple Wikipedia is infested with enWP vandals/banned users and I do not want them to come here and vandalize. Pmlinediter Talk 14:03, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
