Hi and welcome to my talk page. Just click here to start a new topic.

I prefer to have discussions in one place. If you start a topic here, I will answer here. If I ask something on your page, I will expect an answer there.

Hello, Rimshot, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! -- Creol(talk) 11:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Second person template change

Hekllo Rimshot, and welcome to wikipedia; I added the you template there, because I (personally) fell that the "we ..." equally makes an assumption about the reader (than the you does). Perhaps I am wrong about that; a changing of the guide you specify would really need discussion. --Eptalon 10:36, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I do not think it would be fruitful to seek someone ot blame. Witch hunts rarely solve problems; Remove that tag; a discussion on simple talk, would be better suited to clarify the position.--Eptalon 12:28, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Friedrich Kellner change

I took your advice and removed most of the elements about the diary that were in the biographical page. I removed some entire sections. And I took out some of the biographical elements that were in the diary page. On the biography page, though, I did leave the information about the important entry of October 28, 1941, even though this same entry is on the diary page. Thanks for your help with this. I appreciate it. Scott --Rskellner 18:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The page is definitely improved by your corrections. It's amazing how simplifying sentences, without losing the meaning, can be such a challenge. Thank you. Scott --Rskellner 14:43, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cat sorting change

Just a note; if you use the template {{BD}} with the name included (which is almost always the case), you don't need to add the cat sorting to all the others. BD includes the default sort tag {{DEFAULTSORT:name sorted by}} based on the name it is given. I got tired of always adding it to every cat and just added it to the template to quicken things up some. -- Creol(talk) 14:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That makes sense. I have added it to the template's documentation, as it is not immediately obvious. --rimshottalk 21:50, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speculation change

If you think it's easy enough now please take the label out. --Cethegus 08:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I simplified it a bit further. Paragraph 3 still isn't simple, though. Someone who does not speak English very well will probably just ignore it because of all the complex words in there. --rimshottalk 10:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

BD limitations change

I see you noticed the problem with the BD tag. Actually, I will work with a blank sort tag, but I just cant get it to accept a non-existant tag. If no sort is set at all, it uses a bracket to sort, but by using it blank it works fine

  • {{ BD | 1023 | 1121 | Name }} works fine
  • {{ BD | 1023 | 1121 | }} works fine
  • {{ BD | 1023 | 1121 }} doesnt work..

you just have to remember to use the last "|" if there no need to sort it. -- Creol(talk) 16:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll try to remember that for the few persons that will need it. Thanks, rimshottalk 18:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

German cities and towns change

I am having a (more than) little problem with categories dealing with German cities and towns and was wondering if you could help out if you get some free time. Many of the articles on these places say a location is a city in one place then later in the article they say it is a town. They categorized the place as both, usually in two different areas (cats: cities in Bavaria and Towns in Germany for example). Any help in figuring out what is a city, what is a town, and getting them categorized (preferably into which state they are in as well as city or town) would be greatly appreciated. No rush on this task though, as there are millions of things to due. Thanks for any help you can provide. -- Creol(talk) 13:29, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

In German, there is really no difference between towns and cities, the translation for both words is Stadt. There is a term Großstadt (literally Big City) for towns with > 100k inhabitants. Differentiating between those >100k (city) and those <100k (town) seems like the only feasible solution if one wants to differentiate. I'll have a look at the necessary changes, when I find the time. --rimshottalk 23:27, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dogma change

Please look at Dogma again, if you think it's easy enough now. --Cethegus 16:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I added some wiktionary links and reworded it a bit. I think it's not perfectly simple, but it's about the average level of Simple WP articles now. I have removed the complex tag. --rimshottalk 12:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good work! Thank you. --Cethegus 13:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Administrator change

I wasn't planning to become an administrator now, but I meant maybe sometime in the future. Panda Bear 15:37, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's what I was thinking. I cannot make my mind up yet, nevertheless. I hope I didn't come about sounding negative :) --rimshottalk 08:10, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Germany maps change

I noticed you are adding maps for different German states. I just wanted to stop by and say "keep up the good work"! - Huji reply 12:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow, thanks, I wasn't even finished yet when I got your message. --rimshottalk 12:52, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Two change

In Wikipedia:Simple_talk/Archive_12#Moving_numbers_to_Wiktionary this discussion, we decided that the number articles should be moved to wikitionary, because they had a "dictionary definition" in them, and no encyclopedic information. However, I'm expanding the article two now, to have it contain encyclopedic information as well. I wondered you should be informed as well. - Huji reply 12:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for informing me. --rimshottalk 12:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Quick deletion of Dalai Lama change

The page you wrote, Dalai Lama, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. 💠Ely - Talk💠 10:02, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Dalai Lama change

An editor has requested deletion of Dalai Lama, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2021/Dalai Lama and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. 💠Ely - Talk💠 15:38, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
