Welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia change

Hi, SeeSpot Run! Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes!

If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'change summary' whenever you change an article.

Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler.

If you make a short article please mark it with {{stub}}, our guideline is here.

In particular, thank you for your contributions to Did you know?. I'll take a look at your hooks shortly and reply with any feedback on the nominations page, but in the meantime please do take a read through the guidelines and make sure your hooks are formatted correctly, such as bolding the title of the relevant article. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks, Goblin 20:58, 21 August 2014 (UTC) I ♥ Mh7kJ!Reply

Did you know? change

Hey there! Thanks for your recent nominations to our Did you know? area. Unfortunately, I've had to remove two of your nominations as we have a requirement that editors may only nominate a maximum of four hooks at any one time. You are, of course, welcome to add more hooks either by removing some you have already nominated or waiting for hooks to be approved and moved into our waiting areas to appear on the Main page. Also, please make sure that you format your nominations correctly, including the {{-}} after the nomination for page layout purposes. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks, Goblin 17:10, 22 August 2014 (UTC) I ♥ Jersey!Reply

August 2014 change

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Impressionism. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Category:Impressionist painters also does not have enough entries. Adding references change

Hello, SeeSpot Run. When you add references to an article that didn't have references before, please add a References section. You added a reference to Elizabeth I of England and to Richard Wagner without adding the section.

Also, if the reference added is only an URL without any other information, it should not be in brackets. Bare URLs are not good, but in this case they are better than having just a number displayed for the external link. Of course, it's much better to format the reference using a template such as {{cite web}}. If you would like help learning how to do that, let me know. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:01, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Removing large sections change

You took large sections from Elizabeth I. I see you had some reason, but I'd like to spell out the alternatives:

  1. You can add sources
  2. You can flag unsourced sections
  3. You can rewrite sections if you think they need it
  4. You can give warning of big changes on the talk page.

Unfortunately, we do have many pages with insufficient sources, and some of them do have OR (original research) or poor writing as well. I think it might concern us if major deletion were to become a first choice. Of course, I'm sure you had no such intention. Macdonald-ross (talk) 16:34, 29 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

T:TDYK change

Please remember to be civil whilst participating in DYK discussions. Some of your recent edits to the page have been of questionable temperament. If a hook is declined it is usually for good reason and, although you are more than welcome to express your disagreement, please remember to do so in a calm and collected manner. Just because you think something is relevant or interesting it does not mean that everyone else will, so if a hook does get turned down don't take it personally - comments such as "damned and deleted" aren't really appropriate. Additionally, when you are reviewing hooks, please ensure that your review is appropriate to the level of work needed on any particular hook, and consider making some changes yourself. Reasons such as incorrect formatting of a hook are not an appropriate reason to decline a hook straight off - particularly when it would be quicker to fix it than to go through the process of declining. Your contributions to DYK are valued, but please respect other commentators and remember that it is a community process. Goblin 18:09, 23 September 2014 (UTC) I ♥ GoblinBots!Reply

Additionally, please remember that you may not nominate more than four hooks at any one time. A hook is classed as "active" until it is either moved to a queue or into the holding area. I have had to revert additional nominations from you on several occasions recently. This rule is in place to avoid flooding the process, and to keep backlogs to a minimum. Excuse me, I removed to Jan Hus hook because the article is unsourced, save the hook. I don't have the time or inclination to work further on the Hus article. At a later date, perhaps. I'm going to return the "Belle Starr" hook. It is my fourth nomination. SeeSpot Run (talk) 19:05, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering why you moved the Anderson hook into the holding area (and broke the formatting of the page in the process). The edit appeared to introduce the hook from nowhere if I have followed the history together. Also, again, you have more than four hooks on the page at the moment - one of those is unavoidable (the Wadehook), but the other seems to stem from Anderson. I really don't want to have to mention the limit again. Goblin 21:27, 27 September 2014 (UTC) I ♥ Auntof6!Reply

Jennie Wade change

Since you were the nominator of this article, I wanted to let you know: I commented out the DYK hook from Jennie Wade that is at Template:Did you know/Queue/3. The problem is that the hook (that she was the only civilian casualty at the Battle of Gettysburg) is in the lead of the article without citation, and is then never repeated in the body of the article. The circumstances of her death are cited, but the fact that she was the only casualty is not. Once that is fixed, someone can revert my commenting out of the hook. Only (talk) 13:21, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oops! I missed this! The fact and the citation have been recorded in the body of the text. SeeSpot Run (talk) 14:31, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

DYK, agan change

I have reverted your change that moved Davy Crockett to the holding area as there was no valid reason for doing so. The hook has not received a 'yes' review - so does not have approval to appear on DYK - whilst there are also spaces in the primary queue rendering the holding area inactive. Additionally, you should not move your own hooks to queues to avoid a conflict of interest. Once again, please do take time to ensure that you are following the rules of DYK and constructively taking part in the process. Still, many of your objections have no substance but are merely of the type that you have received, whilst you are continuing to argue with reviewers when your hooks are turned down. This has been raised with you many times yet the message still is apparently not getting through. I don't want to have to escalate things further, but I will for the good of the project if needs be.
