Careful change

Advice: don't communicate informally with users who are in the middle of making a series of bad edits. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:53, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Macdonald-ross: Thanks, I will keep that in mind.Amanda Call Me 13:54, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article is made out change

I've got The Outsiders created.

Also, you might wanna request the rollback feature. The feature reverts vandalism edits on Simple English. Angela Maureen (talk) 16:24, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@September 1988: Are you sure? I've only had a little under 70 edits.Amanda Call Me 16:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
No offense, but I think it's a bit too early for that. Maybe in the near feature, just not now (since you're still new) Thanks,

Please don't "fix" other users' edits on talk pages change

Even if you see something you think is misspelled or bad grammar, please don't change another user's edit on a talk page. That goes for any talk page -- user talk, article talk, or anywhere else. Thanks. And yes, that spelling was correct for British English. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:24, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I completely agree with that.Amanda Call Me 19:25, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism in Progress change

This report was on an IP that actually made a constructive edit. Regardless if they are blocked on another wiki, as long as they are editing constructively they are allowed to continue to edit. Please keep in mind also, that we have a warning system in place, user need to be properly warned before action will be taken. -- Enfcer (talk) 20:43, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I guess I have a lot to learn then.Amanda Call Me 20:45, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
That user warning, I did, before I realized you had beat me to the revert. I only saw the edit conflict after I had already placed the warning. -- Enfcer (talk) 20:55, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Pinax change

Hello Amanda, It is very observant of you to actually list the article pinax for quick deletion, because it lacks references. Yes, I know it does, but I am/was in the process of editing it, to include them. I am currently in the process of looking for some references. If you want you can help me, I heard that Vitruvius (a Roman architect) made some reference about it in his ten books of architecture...--Eptalon (talk) 14:35, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately I cannot help at the moment, as I have online classes to work on. I will remove the QD notice and strike the QD nomination on my QD log. Best, Amanda Call Me 14:42, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

The list article of African Americans change

I have undone your move of this article. We do not need to specify "notable" in the title, because the entries in lists of people are presumed to be notable to begin with. Also, moving an article that is being discussed at RfD breaks all the links in the discussion as well as the article's link to the discussion page.. If you see another case like this where you think an article at RfD should be renamed, please mention it at the discussion first, and don't rename it until the discussion is over. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:58, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your qd request of Pinax change

I see that you removed the QD from this article, but I wanted to mention that not having references is not a valid QD reason. The QD options are very specific. You can see them at WP:QD. Any deletion request that doesn't exactly fit one of them has to go to WP:RFD. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:28, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: I'm so sorry, I have so much to learn.Amanda Call Me 21:10, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but you'll get there. Overall you're doing well. The important thing is that you're contributing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the people who have been here longer. Many of us, including me, also learned how things work here by making mistakes. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 00:58, 8 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do not issue block notices change

Block notices should be issued only by the admin who blocks a user. Do not issue them yourself. Besides it being inappropriate, you make yourself more of a target. Please take care not to do things that should be left to admins. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:57, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Sandbox change

Hi Amanda, I noticed you reverted an IP users change and called it "unconstructive". Users are allowed to put this kind of content on this page, for testing purpouses. Thanks! George Edward CTalkContributions 19:02, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your qd request on Neymar jr change

Just FYI, being the captain of a national football team does make a person notable. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:11, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Metallic bond change

About your revert on this page: did you notice that the user you reverted had actually made two changes to that page, and that the second change undid the first one? What made you think the second change was vandalism? To me, it looked more like a user making a test change and then undoing it. Your edit put back the test. In any case, I took out the whole sentence because I couldn't find mention of the person indicated and there was no reference. Please try to look beyond just the last edit when working on vandalism. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:19, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reporting vandals change

Amanda, I'm concerned about the reports you make at WP:VIP.

  • You have reported some IP editors after they made only one or two bad edits. WP:VIP is for requesting blocks, and we usually don't block for so few edits.
  • You reported one editor who hadn't been warned. As it turned out, that editor had done nothing wrong anyway, so it was just as well they weren't warned, but in general we require suffient appropriate warnings.
  • You put inappropriate text on some of their talk pages, saying you had reported them for blocking. Just use the standard warning templates for their bad edits. There is no need to tell them they have been reported.
  • You accused IP editors of being a "spambot or a compromised account". First, IP addresses are not accounts. Second, spam means using Wikipedia for advertising or to create a lot of links to a particular website for no helpful reason. Neither of those things had happened.

Remember that we do not assume that all edits from a given IP address are from the same person. IP addresses are often shared within a group (for example, a company or school). When we look at an IP editor's changes to evaluate vandalism, we only look at the very recent ones. None of the three IP editors you reported recently had more than three recent edits, which is not enough for blocking.

Think of this scenario: there is a group of shared computers in a room at a school, library, or business where different people access the internet. Each computer might be assigned a specific IP address. Now imagine that someone uses one of those computers to vandalize our Wiki. When that person leaves, other people use that computer, still using the same IP address, and these people want to make good edits. They have no control over the IP address, and Wikipedia doesn't want to penalize those good editors for what the bad one did. That's Wikipedia policy.

I'm trying to think of some guidelines that would help you make appropriate vandalism reports. Here's what I've come up with:

  • Don't worry about what users, especially IP users, have done on other wikis. Just look at what they have done here. If there is relevant activity on another Wiki, leave it for someone else to evaluate. You could ask on someone's talk page for them to look at it, but it's better not to include it in the report when it's not relevant. We do allow people to edit here after vandalizing elsewhere.
  • If there are multiple bad edits from one user on a single page within a few minutes, only issue one warning even if you have reverted in between the bad edits. It's possible the editor didn't see the warning yet, in which case a second warning wouldn't be helpful.
  • Report users to WP:VIP only if they have received all four levels of warnings. Just make sure all four levels were justified. If an IP user receives warnings, then the next bad edits are some time later, we usually go back to a lower level in case it was a different person.

Let me know if you have any questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:38, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress change

Please do not undo other editor's changes to WP:VIP. There are times when editors would be blocked even if they have not had four warnings yet. It is up to the administrators to evaluate each report. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:42, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edits to the Sandbox change

Just so you know, edits that are "vandalism" are permitted on the Sandbox, because that's what the page is for. Unless the material is very offensive, there is no need to undo edits done on the sandbox. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 21:10, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rollback change

I have granted your request for rollback. Your recent reverts look good, but please take care to only rollback true vandalism. Other edits you will need to use another method to revert. - Enfcer (talk) 16:23, 5 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Amanda. Usually we don't edit another user's user page, like you did here. Please leave that for the owner of the page to do. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:38, 5 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
