Cooler heads...Edit

I think we both discussed our points well, and with maturity. Perhaps we meet again on an article talk page... after this is resolved, there are a few mainspace pages I want to bring out, perhaps try my hand at this GA VGA process. Best, Jon@talk:~$ 21:03, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Enwp basedEdit

I noticed you had previously mentioned malformed {{Enwp based}} templates per this search. Has there been any discussion or action about this? Looks like something went wrong at some point and this should be fixed. EhJJTALK 00:27, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes, mentioned it on irc too, but nobody seemed very interested. I think the template is used incorrectly on some pages (it might have been correct before, but isn't anymore). Unfortunately I'm not a template expert. Anyone good in that area? Yottie =talk= 11:45, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Yottie. I am a new user. I completed today this article and I put 5 articles that have relation with it in peer review. Because I am a new user, I need help with the simplification because my English knowledge it's not big. Can you help? Nataly8 (talk) 14:39, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

One question. Why you have 2 admin T-shirts? Nataly8 (talk) 18:26, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

I passed an rfa in december 2008, then after a mis-understanding I had a erquest for de-adminship (the community decided to take my admin rights away, then a few months later I passed another rfa. Hope this makes things clearer. :) Yottie =talk= 18:30, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Purplebackpack Challenge CupEdit

Three weeks into the Purplebackpack Challenge Cup, and several editors are off to a good start. Barras has a commanding lead in the Plum Division with 135.5 points, Yottie leads the Royal Division with 68.5 points, and PiRSquared17 and Kansan are also off to good starts. However, several editors have yet to claim any points at all! In addition, none of you have claimed a GA, VGA or the Edison bonus, bonuses that could break this competition wide. Hope that changes in the next two weeks! Purplebackpack89 15:09, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

French TemplatesEdit

In the Wanted templates list there are two templates, Template:Département Haute-Garonne and Template:Département Charente listed (currently 2 and 3). I have tracked them down to Template:FraAbbr. FraAbbr is a giant switch statement, and the last two lines are looking for the above two templates. So far, I have not found any pages that call FraAbbr with either value. It seems this came from enwp. They deleted the two templates (see en:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2010_May_3#Template:D.C3.A9partement_Charente), and replaced them with image links in. We do not use either image on simple.

Do you see any problem deleting these two lines of code from the template or replacing them with the image links. I'm afraid my high school French has failed me. I just don't remember any of this. Thanks for any help you can provide.--The Three Headed Knight (talk) 23:34, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Can Yotbot create all the articles listed here with the text below?

Thanks, —SEPTActaMTA8235— (t c l) 15:29, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I believe after a discussion with the community, we stopped the creation of stubs en-masse by bots. You can create them manually, but I advise you to expand the existing ones first, or else we will only be expanding the long list of stubs on SEWP. Otherwise, create them, but with at least 4-5 sentences. Regards, Yottie =talk= 16:34, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Yottie, how are you? :) I'm just calling to ask if you would like any help with your article work, or if you know any jobs I can do that would help you; for I have found myself less busy lately and I would like to help out. Kind regards, DJDunsie (talk) 18:00, 14 July 2011 (UTC).

Hi, fine thanks! Well, we need GAs, and I started Antoine Lavoisier in my userspace; some of it still needs simplifying if you want. Otherwise, expanding Communes of France. Or departments of France. Or generally expanding stubs. If you want to work on an article with me, just ask! Thanks for offering, Yottie =talk= 20:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for being stupid but where is Antoine Lavoisier? I can not find it, DJDunsie (talk · changes) 15:17, 18 August 2011 (UTC).

user:Yottie/Antoine Lavoisier. Aboslutely no problem, which article would you like to work on with me? Your choice. We can hopefully get one to GA/VGA :) Yottie =talk= 16:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Antoine Lavoisier maybe, because I know this article means a lot to you. Is this ok? :) DJDunsie (talk · changes) 20:51, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't mean that much to me, just a famous French scientist. But it's absolutely fine. It needs simplifying, and referencing mostly. Yottie =talk= 09:40, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Ok then, my mistake. I'll try and think of another article? Do you have any ideas? DJDunsie (talk · changes) 12:14, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
We can do Lavoisier if you want. I honestly don't mind which one we do, as long as it helps the wiki! :) Yottie =talk= 15:12, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
No, no, it's ok. I'm sorry, it was my fault. I'll try and think of an article ;). DJDunsie (talk · changes) 19:27, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Weekend suggestionEdit

Hi Yottie, we should have another Big Weekend. There was a suggestion made on Simple talk that we needed to do something about capital cities. So I propose we have a Capital Weekend. This could/should also include state capitals etc. It could also include articles about things in the capital, so an article on the Eiffel Tower for example would be suitable because it is in Paris. The goal would be to make sure that every city has an article, with relevant data, references, photo, probably an info box. Another goal would be to get all these articles to better than stub class. If editors added "CW" (Capital Weekend) in the edit summary we would know how many articles were started or improved. Thoughts? --Peterdownunder (talk) 10:03, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

This is a good idea. It similar to what I was thinking already so I'll definitely be interested in this. Is there a way to search edits by their summary, by using CW? Normandy (talk) 10:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
That would be easier than doing it manually. Is there anything we need to have in place beforehand?--Peterdownunder (talk) 10:10, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
A list wouldn't be a bad idea... Of course everyone should know the capital cities and things in them... I'll start one here. Feel free to add in any I've missed. Normandy (talk) 10:12, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
I have imported the national capital list from Enwiki so we can see what redlinks we have. What about we do it next weekend, starting on the 25th? --Peterdownunder (talk) 10:20, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Good idea to import that list. We seem to only be missing the minor ones which is good. 25th is fine for me. Normandy (talk) 10:43, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Ok, great! 25th sounds fine. Yottie =talk= 18:13, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Counting problemEdit

Hi Yottie, we had quite a few Big Weekend edits. Unfortunately I was in hospital and did not do much. However, the problem is I was not able to keep a count during the weekend, so I do not know how many edits were done. The New Changes will not let me go back more than 500 edits, which is not far enough. I remember someone who new a way to get around this, but I have searched and can't find it in the archives. I am happy to count the changes manually, if I could get back far enough. I made the first edit at (UTC) 22.54 on 24 November, 2011. Is there a way to get changes since then?--Peterdownunder (talk) 10:40, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I thought that "Other pages" was for the "See also" section heading - it is for other pages on Simple Wikipedia, and that "Other webpages/websites" was for "External links." Please set me straight. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 17:20, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm the one who needed to know. In actual fact MOS states here that it's other websites for external webpages. And Other pages must therefore correspond to see also. I think what threw me was the 'webpages' - I definitely thought we'd agreed websites. Thanks for helping me to find the answer to my question. Yottie =talk= 19:57, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Big Airport Weekend - January 20-23Edit

We want to invite you to participate in the Big Airport Weekend on Jan 20-23. (See: WP:Big Weekend) The purpose of this weekend is to improve SEWP's coverage of airports and airport related articles. A few tasks and guidelines:

  1. Add {{Infobox airport}} to all airport articles
  2. To improve existing articles and stubs in the Category:Airports including subcategories.
  3. To add new articles on airports. (Any airport with regular commercial service or where a historic event happened is notable enough for an article.)
  4. Airports can be civilian, military, and anywhere in the world.
  5. Add BAW (for Big Airport Weekend) to the edit summaries to help keep track of the changes.
  6. Please use the {{inuse}} template to avoid edit conflicts with other BAW participants.

Barnstars will be liberally rewarded for your airport efforts. Let me know if you have any questions. Please join us to have fun and to improve SEWP. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 14:30, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

IEP 2.0 proposalEdit

I regret that I couldn't join you in agreeing to the IEP 2.0 proposal. If we re-visit this in future, maybe it will play out differently.

As the IEP 2.0 discussion winds down, it may be timely to contrast and compare an SEWP pilot program in Japan.

I mentioned it here, but two sentences may have been overlooked in the wall of words:

"... a very different kind of strategy has marked the development of a pilot SEWP program at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) here and here. Strategic planning and context-building here and here were quite distinct from the IEP 2.0 proposal."

I hope we can find ways to build on things that seem to be going well. --Horeki (talk) 19:50, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
