Australopithecus afarensis‎

Which parts of the language used in Australopithecus afarensis‎ do you find complex? Pure Evil (talk) 12:11, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

My apologies, it is not as complex as I thought it was. Most words used (except "younger", although "young" is) are on the 1000 word list, but I was looking at the BE 850 word list, of which many are not a member of. I have now re-removed the tag.

Vandal Warner - Help Me

{{helpme}}

Hey all,

Just need a bit of help please! In my .js I have defined some custom Vandal Warner templates. I want to use the standard form of "Date Year" rather than anything else for the level 2 header on talk pages. So, I used {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} which seemed to do the job at first. However, that is now what appears in edit summaries, although the headlines do work correctly... any ideas?

Cheers,

I think suggest. Go on then suggest! Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 21:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC) P.S: Wikicup is here if you didn't know.Reply

Yeh i did see where it was thanks ;)
Ok, well firstly, I think we should leave the pools until everyone has entered and then sort them out randomly. I'd also be interested in becoming a Judge - i'd be no good participating... i'd lose!
Can I spruce up the page a little? And branch it out? And eventually WP: space it? (I think it will work!)
And also, have you designed the cup, or shall I do it? I'm pretty good with Photoshop/GIMP ;)
I'll add more later ;)
Thanks,
BG7even 21:59, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, for the pools, randomly is good (its just tempory, as an example). You can become a judge for sure (Even if I think you would be quite good at it!). Go ahead make a few twiches to the page if you want. However, when we first tried to do it (and we never came round to doin it, as Shapiros10 no longer wanted to) we didn't have it in WP space. Maybe ask a crat or just have it on Simpl Talk. No I haven't designed the cup yet, so go ahead. (And please let me see it before we make it official!). Thanks. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 22:04, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okie Dokie ;) I'll probably just re-make it in my userspace and then ask you first, and it won't be for a few days (too busy). I'll mention it at ST but i'm all for being bold and just doing it... it depends what mood i'm in! And of course i'll show it you first - i'm not trying to steal your thunder!!! Yeah sure, do the article about it. And I don't know if you saw, but I left a message on the talk page for SN. I hadn't even noticed my sig rhymed! Finally, Shall I move the page to your space now? Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 22:29, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I honestly don't mind... if it's moved now it would create redirects and stuff... i dunno. Hi, I thought you were having "what's in a name". Aren't you doing it after all? Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 11:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I moved it back to the next issue for a number of reasons. Shapiros10 is already in the QandA section, and so it would be a bit "biased" if he was also on the name part ;) I'm also going to do two users at a time as I don't geel we can get enough out of it for one whole section from one person!
Thanks,

QandA

You need a QandA. I'd be happy to give an interview now to be published in this issue. If you reply, I'll go on IRC, or send me an e-mail. QandA is an important addition to Simple News and if you need one desperately, I'll let you interview me now. --Gwib -(talk)- 14:05, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey Gwib,
Thanks for the offer!
I'd need to do it via email as IRC, MSN, Skype etc are all blocked by my school's proxy server.
It's Kennedy's section, but he hasn't replied to the message that I sent him on his talk page (I don't doubt that he is very busy!) so I suppose it would be ok.
You have mail ;)
BG7even 14:52, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just thought i'd add that it will be delivered at 4UTC/GMT at the latest, else it will have to wait until Monday as I doubt I will be around tomorrow (or else it will have to be manually delivered). Thanks, BG7even 15:03, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Replied, keep them coming and I'll just leave mail open so all discussion can happen off-wiki. --Gwib -(talk)- 15:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks ;) I've also replied (but I won't keep mentioning it here!). My mailbox is also open, auto-download every 2 minutes and then it pings me ;). I'm writing it up as we go along, so once we're done it'll be there!

  • The QandA. Every month, Kennedy will interview one of Simple English Wikipedia's editors, asking them about themselves, and their opinions on Wikipedia. It is an exciting insight behind the anonymous face of an online username. Las month we debuted with Microchip08. Due up next was Shapiros10 but due to uncontrollable circumstances we have had to postpone this to next month. Instead, Bluegoblin7 takes the reigns and interviews Gwib, who kindly volunteered to keep the section in this issue. Click for his interview:

Nations' Cup scoring

I've set up an example of the scoring system here. --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 18:46, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm not too sure it'd be as suspenseful for bystanders. The more countries, the more editors, the more suspense!

Also, it's bound to run at least a little parallel, since we're scoring the same stuff with the same criteria and elimination layout. But yeah, I agree with the sentiment about making entry to the Nations Cup entirely optional. --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 21:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, so are you convinced the nations' cup is a good idea yet!? Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:01, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hehe yes just about. It needs some work to get it's full potential I think, but we can make it work well. Thanks, BG7even 13:26, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, a bit of work (not too much thow!) It should be good (a shame you aren't competing...). Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) I might compete next year :P. One comment though, this is going all out of proportion. People are forgetting what the cup is about - improving the wiki. I'm this close to just being very bold and saying "No, we're sticking with the editors cup only". Also, it can only happen if, imo, we have 8 teams by December 31st, else it won't be worthwhile.
Thanks,
BG7even 13:34, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Na, not that much out of proportion :D, and I'm pretty sure we'll have 8 teams. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:37, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, from everything i've seen it is a lot out of proportion. I'm not strongly against it, and i'm proposing that we dont have it. People are losing the point of it - its to make the wiki better, not about teams, countries or anything like that. This cup is causing more dramaz than DYK did if you ask me. BG7even 13:45, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, anyway, as long as nobody complains heavily, it will work. If people want to win, they'll edit more, isn't that good?!! I just do hope it happens, and we have fun as well as making good contribs. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:49, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps but also people might make small, stupid edits rather than using the preview button to view their work. That's one big flaw i've just found. The editor's cup will happen, but the Nations... well, it's just stupid and pointless. I am just finishing a proposal to close, and there are several good arguments on IRC that will come on wiki once my proposal is written.
Thanks,
BG7even 13:51, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, can you explain this? The page is fully protected for a reason - that doesn't mean that just because you are a sysop you can spam the user... BG7even 13:52, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Doing my job by informing him about it. I don't want him to say why didn't you tell me about it when it's started and he can't join. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry I don't see that as a good reason i'm afraid. What if this was last month and you didn't have the flag? What would you have done then? What if I wanted to send him a message? Why not use the email function? BG7even 13:58, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

(reset)Ok, I'll try and keep my composure. If I didn't have the flag, I would have waited. It might of created controversy, he might of complained and retired because nobody would care to tell him. But I do have the flag. I used the opportunity, to try and be helpful. Why didn't I E-mail him? Do you want to know the truth? I might have my flag removed, be despised, and everything else: the reason is I don't know, and didn't look to know how. It was just seemingly easier to leave that notice on his page with the off chance he might see it before the 31st of December. Anyway, I'm not thinking of retiring, even if I feel like it at this precise moment. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 14:07, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

SN special edition

Do you think we could do a Simple News special New Year Edition or something like that? It wouldn't have to be as long, but it might be a quite good idea. Thoughts? Thanks. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 19:45, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm... I think perhaps just a "Happy New Year" notice would work better - or we could bring the first issue after New Year forward by two weeks? I don't mind, either is fine me, I just don't think an actual "issue" would work... but if there is content for it at the submissions page then yes, by all means we can have one!
Cheers,
BG7even 19:50, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I don't mean an elaborate one, I mean a shortish version. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 19:52, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Well, i'll have a look at how the dates work out, I might be able to incorporate one between now and the next issue around New Year. Either way, GBot won't be able to deliver from the 29th December until the 11th January, as I will be on a computer free wikibreak!
Thanks,
BG7even 19:56, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well maybe one on boxing day then? or 28th or any time. What shall I prepare. An article? Maybe you have a suggestion. Thanks. Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 20:09, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... I suppose one on the 28th would work quite nicely. I'll sketch something up tomorrow that's like a short thing. A nice feature might be 2009 predictions from different editors, both on wiki and in RL. It could also be their plans for the 2009 year. I'd be happy to participate (in fact, id like too!). I'd send you a Merry Christmas template too, but I don't know the code. :P

I don't have any "problems" with you or Gwib; I just thought it'd be easier for you if you judged for one Cup at a time. --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 00:10, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the merry crimbo ;) You're welcome to just copy mine!
It's not so much the judging that's the problem, more the fact that as it was it was too complcated, and, imo, not thought out well enough. It needs to be properly thought out and merged with the editor's cup, which I something I will do during 2009.
Thanks,
BG7even 13:24, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think with enough brainpower we could launch it at the end of the Editors'. Are you competing in that one? --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 16:50, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) Did you copy that one from Yotcmdr above? :P
As for the Nation's, I think that it would be best if we just waited a whole year and have it run at the same time as the Editor's Cup - a bit like F1 where there is the Racer's Cup and the Maker's Cup. That way, there isn't something happening for the whole year round, as people would get bored of it, as opposed to a once a year type thing.
Do you see what i'm saying?
BG7even 16:54, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Check it. Add anything you think neccesary. --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 16:53, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
As I said, I think it should run at the same time as the Editor's Cup, but i'll have a look over them. BG7even 16:56, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.P.S. Yeah, I stole it. ;P --Cheers, Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER 11:52, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikicup (Editors cup)

Hi, I've just thought of a problem. We have 4 groups of 4 people. But at this time we are 22 entrants. However, you can only divide 22 by 1, 2 and 11 so unless at least another 2 people join (if we are 24 we can have 6 groups of 4 or somehting like that, 25 5 froups of 5, etc.) we're going to have a problem with groups. Anyway, I'll let you and Gwib worry about that (as you're judges!) Thanks, Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 12:03, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up. My plan was to have 6 groups of 4, as i'm sure at least two more will sign up, otherwise we will either go with 2 groups of 11 (top 8 going through) or perhaps have one group of 2 with some of our more "elite" editors to make it harder but keep it fair (so that group wouldn't be random, but the rest will be!). I'll speak with Gwibby about it at some stage! P.S. Thanks to Shappy for the idea of 2 11s with 8 going through ;). Cheers, BG7even 13:28, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blatant Vandalism

I have done this joke before (twice) but I don't think you will have heard of it, so...:

As you can see here, I have updated your vandalism counter, but I did not vandalise. So by updating your counter when I should not have, I therefore "vandalised" your page, but then making the update correct. Geddit? :D Kennedy (talk) 14:02, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

DYK

As I regularly edit as the normal English wiki, i noticed that the DYK rules were almost a copy-paste from there. A rule reads: "Article is unable to be used on DYK, the time limit has passed, or there are larger reservations." Unlike Normal English wiki, where the time limit is 5 days old, here i saw no "time limit", but still a "time limit" clause. Also i saw no talk to discuss the DYK rules as this one on Normal English [1]. So i wrote this message to you. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 05:08, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
There is sort of a time limit, but it is still under discussion at this moment in time. I will correct the rules shortly. As for talk, we do have Wikipedia talk:Did you know, but it isn't heavily used mainly due to the small amount of users keeping the DYK? section alive. The best place to get a responce is probably Simple Talk, our equivalent of the "Village Pump" but a lot more simple! Of course, if you message me I will also respond ;).
Hope that helps!
Thanks,

SN Article

Hi BG! I'd like to know if it would be possible for me to have 2 articles in our next edition of Simple News? Thanks, Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:02, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure! We have plenty of space. Just add them both to the submissions page, and i'll fit them in! Thanks, BG7even 13:03, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You said to shout at you loudly if we didn't like the QDing! Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:27, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

:P I didn't ask you to delete them :P (And as I also said i'm not stopping!) BG7even 13:28, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
As I'm an admin, ir's my duty to delete them! (even if it's pretty boring) Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:30, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) And you're doing a very good job! (I think i'll give you a barnstar once i'm done!) BG7even 13:31, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
You'll get one for fixing all those links!! Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 13:33, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks :D :P BG7even 13:33, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
  The Surreal Barnstar
I told you you'd get one too! Here you are, I'm awarding it to you for all your fixing and QDing, and just for beeing yourself, a great editor, working hard with DYK, SN, and the Wikicup! Yotcmdr Sign up for the wikicup =talk= 16:11, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks ;) BG7even 15:37, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikicup groups

Hi BG! I think if it does stay at 22, we should have two groups of 11 with the top 4 from each group going through (as Shappy suggested). Thanks. Yotcmdr= M e r r y C h r i s t m a s ! = 20:22, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmm... i'll talk with Gwibby about it. But 8 from each group should go through if we do it that way. BG7even 15:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bot

Hi, can't that bot get a username instead of acting under an ip adress, it's confusing. Or could it get the flag quickly. Thanks. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 11:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey Yotty,
The bot has got a username (Chris G Bot) but it was malfunctioning - that's the Toolserver's IP address. I told Chris G (the owner) on IRC and he says that he's fixed it.
Cheers,
BG7even 11:55, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
It got logged out sorry. The bad tagging was due to a lack of error checking which i've now fixed --Chris 11:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks, I didn't think it was Chris G bot. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 12:17, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikicup points - scoring system

Hi! I just wanted to make sure the points system in the wikicup is alright, as I chose how many points you get for what. Also, do you think that we should have points for anything else. Quick, we need to decide before 31st! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 21:29, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I think they're fine what we have so far. I'm going to make a couple of tweaks and say that you only get points for quality edits - i.e. short, useless edits do not get points, or only get half. I'll have a think as well ;). BTW, i'm going to draw the pools randomly tomorrow, and email them to you. I'll be on my wikibreak by the 30th so someone else will need to kick it off and add the pools to the page. Would you mind? Or I might ask Gwib... BG7even 21:35, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok I agree useless edits are useless! No problem for the pools, just E-mail them and I'll do it. Thanks. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 21:39, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

SN special Edition (2)

Hi, you said the other day: Hmmm... Cheers, BG7even 23:16, 15 December 2008 (UTC). I still want to go ahead with the idea. And what do you mean by predictions? Have you prepared anything? Or if not, will you, and what shall I do (anything you like!)? Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 21:33, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I haven't had chance yet, but I promise I will tommorrow! I'm think just a small issue, without any of the articles or QandAs planned for the new year. To help I suppose just ask a variety of editors what their ideas, plans etc for 2009 are? And a happy new year message perhaps. Any other ideas? (Also, at this rate we're going to have to add you as a co-editor :P ) BG7even 22:09, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Me co-editor?! Sounds good!! Maybe something about the wikicup in it? Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 22:11, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yep, just a reminder to sign up probably ;). By co-editor, I mean alongside me and Kennedy :P, but yes, I feel you can become one ;) BG7even 22:12, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks it would be an honour (if you think I'm worthy of the title!), and when do you think we should reveal the pools? Maybe reveal them in that special edition. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 22:15, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your welcome ;). I'll add you shortly (technically though, anyone can add anyone as no-one owns it ;) ). As for the pools, I think perhaps just a final push for people to sign up, as the period doesnt end until the 31st so people might not sign up if the pools have been published, even if they can. BTW: I'm going to send several possibilities across, with blanks if there are any newcomers. Thanks, BG7even 22:27, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok! I'm going to bed now, I have an 8 hour car journey tomorow and have to get up a 5 english time. 'Night! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 22:30, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Night ;) Ouch... that's early! You should have mail when you wake up. BG7even 22:35, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hiya! I finally got to my grand parents after 10 hours, and have an internet connection!! Have you or not done anything for the 28 yet. And are the wikicup groups done as well. Thanks. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 19:10, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

*hides* No i haven't done anything yet! Sorry! Today's been pretty hectic for me, and i've been trying to do some article writing - my User talk and Wikipedia counts are waaay to high :P I'm now holding off on the pools as we have 23 entrants again - nag someone else to sign up! As for SN I will do it now!!! Promise!!! BG7even 19:25, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
ok, no problem!! My user talk edits have gone up a lot in the last month, and I've lost 12% on my mainspace edits... The wikicup should boost both our mainspace!! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 19:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okie dokie ;) All of them are getting higher by the day - Wikipedia, User talk, Mainspace. At least my User is <200! I'm looking at several choices to RfA when I hit 3 months... but I need to sort those counts out!!! Cheers, BG7even 19:34, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi! It looks like we have our 24th compeditor in the wikicup!! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 14:21, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've just thought of something else about the wikicup, how are you going to count the edits precisly... It's going to take you an awful long time, as you'll have to go through them one by one. Good luck!! For simple news, special edition, can we have my article early as I have two for the 19th? Thanks, Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:09, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... that's a point. I might see if I can code a bot, or we might create a subpage where editors list pages they edit, say once a week or something. I don't know. Me and Gwib will probably split them half and half. BTW: For the pools, if more people enter, i'll either send another set over if it's before the 30th, else could you fit them in?
For SN: I can if you want me too, but I have no issues with you having 2 articles in the next "proper" issue - indeed, just look at Kennedy's!. BG7even 16:13, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about having a list of pages edited, there might be cheating or people might forget some pages (losing points they should have). About the lists, if anyone else joins, I you can (or I) change it. and when are you sending it BTW? Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:24, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... i'm not sure. I still have to completely clarify about the points as well. (*sigh* I have such a big todo list... but at least my mainspace is now bigger than my WP space!!! :D). As for the lists, i'll send them hopefully by the end of the day. Thanks, BG7even 16:26, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
It should not be a problem having more than one article. Mine is only one article, but I have split it into three pages as there is three different areas I am writing about. The more content the better :) Kennedy (talk) 16:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

(BG) Maybe find a third judge (even once the wikicup has started). Hurry up with those pools, it's christmas tomorow!! Is there anything you would like me to do (to clear your to do list? Thanks, Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:56, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Erm... yes perhaps. I'll have a search for people who might be interested ;). As for help... you could create the Christmas SN Issue? (You can't have article writing :P that's my job ;) ) BG7even 16:57, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've come up with this. Please add to it, if you can! (maybe give your plans for 2009) Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 17:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okie dokie - looks good! I'll add something shortly! BG7even 17:42, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Shall I post about the edition on ST, so we can have editors contribute to it, giving their plans? And, again, are the pools ready (last time I ask today, I'm being anoying, I know ^_^). Thanks, Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 18:42, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you can do. That might bring in people to add to it :D. Also, spam everyone on the Team page. And i'm doing the pools right now. You should have them in 10 minutes :D BG7even 18:44, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Or not... because i'm a lazy sod, I was seraching the Interclacker for a free team generator, but I couldn't find one. So, i'm going to have to do this old fashioned way like a lottery... Which means you might not get it till tomorrow BG7even 19:01, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
What the hell! Writting 24 names on a piece a piece of paper and cutting them out isn't that long, :D. I hope I do get them tonight! I've left a message at ST and on the teams' talk pages. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 19:09, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) true, but then I have to type them in :P No, it's ok. I'm writing number 5 at the moment ;). And i noticed ;). BG7even 19:10, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I completly forgot you had to type them in, haha! (silly me) I hope bots are allowed to have plans, ;-). Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 19:15, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, email   Done. :D And yes, bot's are allowed plans ;) GBot1 has a few, but he will probably report on his brother's and his sister's plans as well ;) BG7even 19:18, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, they look good. Red, green and colorless1 look the toughest (I'll add blue and pink for colourless) I'll add the groups on the 31st. GBot can talk about his family as well if he wishes. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 19:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi, sorry to disturb you on Christmas day, and I hope you got what you wanted! I just thought that we could have a poll (on the special edition of SN) about the wikicup. We could ask people who they think will win. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 12:42, 25 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) Ok. When do you want it for? About the groups, you have mail ;).
I was inactive on the 25th, thus replying now, but yes, I did get what I wanted, including a new digital camera for lots of transport pictures to take to Commons ;). As for the poll, that sounds like a good idea. I won't contribute as a judge should remain impartial ;) but I hope others do.
Cheers,
BG7even 23:39, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

One of your verifications

Bluegoblin, the Hydrogen article you verified at T:TDYK is still complex, so there is still a problem with it. Make sure you read over the article to see if it is complex or not next time, along with whatever else is needed to meet the requirements mentioned in Wikipedia:Did_you_know#More_details_on_Rules. All the other verifications you have done seem good (at least the ones I've noticed), but you just need to remember to check for complexity. ;-) Thanks, RyanCross @ 13:36, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oops. Sorry! I had my "complex" head on at the time as I was writing a GCSE practice paper ;) And, I mentioned it before I think, but please don't wave the rules at me... I did help write them! Anyway, thanks for the heads up ;) BG7even 23:54, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there

Hello there Bluegoblin! I have noticed that you are a pretty active editor here on the Simple English Wikipedia, and therefore, I would just like to say hi to you :). My name is Razorflame and I used to be a pretty active editor here on this site, but after my most recent unsuccesful RfA, I decided to take a break from this site. I have now resumed editing on this site again and hope to see you around this site :). Cheers, Razorflame 21:47, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey! In addition to my response at Simple Talk, I just want to say if you need help just ask ;). I'm up-to-date with most goings-on as an editor of Simple News, and I also help (or as some put it run) at DYK? and i'm a judge of the Wikicup - all of which I see you've signed up for ;)
Cheers,
BG7even 23:57, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is no way in the whole world that I would not sign up for the Wikicup because it pretty much is an editing competition, which is definitely up my alley. You will find me to be very fierce competition :). As for if I need help, thank you for offering to give me help should I ask, but I've already gotten myself up to date on the going-ons of the Simple English Wikipedia since I stopped editing in June. I've read the block log from now all the way back to June and noted several users banned; I've already asked Gwib about other things that have gone on since I stopped editing, and for the most part, I've already acquainted myself with most of the more active users on this site that started editing after I stopped in June. In short, I shouldn't need too much help with getting caught up because I believe that I already have gotten caught up :). If you need any help with the workings of the Simple English Wikipedia, please don't be afraid to ask me, as I have about 10-11 months work of experience on this site that could easily help you should you need it :). Cheers, Razorflame 00:09, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) Good luck! (It's just annoying as now I have to reselect the pools :P (i'm away on the 31st so drew them early ;) )). Good to hear your up to speed. But i'm still going to say a couple of things :P. WP:PVGA and WP:PGA are pretty inactive and need help reviving. We've added a "grace period" until the new year when all those listed will go to voting. We hope to "start afresh" for the New Year.
Thanks for the offer! I'm pretty up-to-date and settled though - ineed in addition to the above i'm also running two (soon to be three) bots, and before coming to SEWP I was active at en.wp ;) But i'll keep the request in mind!
Thanks,
BG7even 00:22, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

42,000

Yeah, maybe yours counts more than mine. But if only I had deleted those pages earlier... I would have ggot it! Never mind, I got the 40,000th, :Pp !Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 15:48, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Exactly :P You cheated ;). Because mine was the first to be created, it was the official one, but if there hadn't have been a couple of deletions minutes before it would have been Glasgow Garden Festival, another of my articles ;) You Have Mail :P BG7even 15:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
ok, good groups. Colourless 1 looks really tough now, and gree (were I am) looks pretty hard too! Thanks for not fixing them! 666 SaTAN is what it means to me!Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:03, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your welcome ;) I have an idea of who is going through in that round, but i'm not going to say as it would be unproffessional as a Judge ;). Your group also looks quite hard now. But, in all, I think the groups are well balanced and none are too easy or two difficult. In some it's more a competition for who gets first and who second, but certainly some it's an open field. Now I need to rethink the second stage, and I think 10 people might be too few..., but is 15 too many? BG7even 16:51, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't really know how we'd do it. With 10 it'd be alright, but 15 would be more complicated. Maybe have 16, the 16th beeing the person in third place with the most points. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:59, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... i'll have a think.. If we had 10 two from each group would go through, as it is at the moment. If we have 15, three from each group would go through. 16 could be three from each group and then the next highest user overall. I'll have a major think and see what offers the best "value for money" so-to-speak. Cheers, BG7even 17:14, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
We have a 26th person in the wikicup... Ruined your work! :D Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 20:15, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
*sigh* Ok, so what works now? I really don't like the idea of two pools of 13. I'll see if there is anyone there who can't/shouldn't be, or if anyone wants to be a judge instead ;) BG7even 22:35, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good idea! 25 worked quite well! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 22:37, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
PeterSymonds has agreed to pull out, and also instead to judge. So, rather than me remaking the pools, could you replace PeterSymonds with Garden? Thanks, BG7even 22:40, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yep, ok! 3 judges will be better as well! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 22:42, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) Thanks, BG7even 22:43, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you are still in need of another judge, I would not mind pulling out to help judge as well if you still need another judge. I am also going to bring up some more ideas for things to add that will also give points. Cheers, Razorflame 22:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think we should be alright now. And if you pull out i'll have to change the pools... again. Do be quick with the ideas as we only have a couple of days left... and i'm away from the 30th onwards! Thanks, BG7even 22:48, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just posted the ideas to the discussion page now. Feel free to look them over and discuss them in depth if you wish. Also, no problems to the other point you mentioned. Cheers, Razorflame 22:54, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

GA?

Do you want to inprouve an article to GA and then later VGA? VandalFighterFR(V) Bad warning? 15:09, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's an eventual aim, yes. At the moment though i'm trying to write lots of stubs about British Rail locomotives and units. I do have Crich Tramway Village at PGA though ;)
Thanks, BG7even 15:10, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, when your ready to help me with an article of your choice to get to Ga and then VGA tell me. VandalFighterFR(V) Bad warning? 15:12, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm well i'm ready whenever really ;). Hmm... what article would be good... (goes away to think) BG7even 22:32, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar/Cookie

Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

For all your hard work with the Wikicup 2009, and for all your work in DYK, I hereby award you this barnstar! Razorflame 23:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:Razorflame has given you some cookies! Now enjoy them!
Thanks a lot! BG7even 02:01, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Complex tags

The reason why I added complex tags to some of your Rail Class articles is because of the fact that there are still some complex words in the articles that need to be simplified. Examples include classification and assigned for starters. Suburban is another one that comes to mind. That is the reason why I added the complex tag to those articles. Cheers, Razorflame 01:56, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I think I got rid of most of them in my re-writes. Assigned can become given, suburban can be wikilinked... but I have no idea for classification as it is the "official" term and used across all of the British Rail TOPS Classes. Any ideas? Thanks, BG7even 01:58, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
You could always give a wiktionary link to classify ;). Cheers, Razorflame 02:05, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good idea ;) I'll set a bot to run tomorrow changing it. Now... is classify at SEWT or EWT... *goes to look* BG7even 02:07, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, the wikt: prefix here connects the link to the Simple English Wiktionary, so I would check the SEWT first to see if they have an article on classify and if not, then you could always make it ;). Cheers, Razorflame 19:34, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not a bad idea ;) My New Year aims are to get more active at the other Simplewikis as they are quit neglected at the moment ;) And as Jonas keeps saying... users are using them as their play grounds... BG7even 19:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar!

Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

For creating so many railway-related articles ;) Tharnton345 17:37, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow thanks! If you think i've done a lot so far, just look at the Redlinks still to do... and they are just British Rail locos - there's steam, private owner, departmentals still to do, and then there are TOCs, routes, stations - the list goes on! BG7even 18:19, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

SN Special

Ready to deliver? I think the edition is ready! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 18:34, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okie dokie ;) I will do it in about an hour, as I need to get as much homework as possible done before my Wikibreak. In the meantime, shall we publish the pools early, as they are revealed in SN? BG7even 18:36, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
For the pools, I said they would be revealed on the 31st, we can reveal them now if you want, :D! You're going skiing in France, were abouts? Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 18:38, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I honestly don't mind ;) It's up to you now. Perhaps rephrase that paragraph before I deliver? Also, could you move the pages to something like Wikipedia:Simple News/Special Editions/Christmas-New Year 08? That way we can create more than one special edition ;) (I ask you as you has the power to move all the subpages as well in one go :P ) Cheers, BG7even 19:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reviewed

Hi there BG7. Like I told you over IRC yesterday, I have indeed reviewed you. While it was quite lengthy, I do believe that it will be extremely helpful in making you a better editor here on this site :). Cheers, Razorflame 19:33, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot :D Just to comment quickly on edit counts and percentages, the Toolservers are currently about a day behind the main servers (fluctuating between 15 hours and 30 hours all day) so any counts you have are most like inaccurate - after today's creation my Mainspace is certainly my highest count, as it was about 20 away yesterday and i've created more than 20 articles today ;) I also have 2,739 edits according to my preferences :P (I told you the were laggy!)
With RfDs I have been fairly active, and have closed a couple and in more than one come up with the only logical solution ;) There haven't been too many since i've been focussing on that area! In the past few weeks my vandalism reversion in general has slipped, and it will stay that way until after my wikibreak, when I will resume ;) Vandalism in general has been (surprisingly) quite low over the holiday period.
Thanks again for the Review, and I hope you don't take my points the wrong way... i'm new to this sort of thing!
Thanks,
BG7even 19:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I kind of figured that the edit counts would be a bit behind, but still, even so, it would need to be quite a bit higher. I would recommend that until you go on Wikibreak, you edit solely in the mainspace. That should help to jumpstart your edit count in that category :). Cheers, Razorflame 19:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe ;) I've been trying to for the past few days - but i've spoilt it tonight with edits all over the place! I knew I should have used my main account for those stub changes earlier :P *goes off to write more BR Locos* BG7even 19:45, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
