We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but an article you created was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. I'm sorry, but I didn't think I was doing that. I did simplify, rewrite, and expand the material as best I could. New at this. I'm a bit shocked that you deleted all of my work before commenting to me. I guess I can use some help. Brtom1 (talk) 22:27, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

We get a lot of copy/paste here. I went back and looked at the edit you made and, while there are some sentences that are fully untouched, there is some re-writing done. Hello, just wanted to give you some feedback on your rewrite. It looks a lot better, and is simplified pretty well. I went ahead and simplified a few words like "attended", but otherwise it's good on the simplification side of things. It definitely needs some links to other articles though. Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Writing Awards. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. Hi, with this category, I've noticed you've added it to a few articles. However, they were already in Category:Literary awards‎, which is a subcategory of that category, and therefore there is no need for the articles to be in the parent category as well, so I have reverted your changes. Okay. I did some things. Check it for accuracy. It's okay to leave "Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos de Nueva York" in Spanish. Brtom1 (talk) 17:12, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Categorizing

Hello, Brtom1. I noticed that you have done some work that includes adding categories to pages. Please be sure not to overcategorize. One change you made that resulted in an article being overcategorized was your change to Toni Morrison. You added Category:American writers and Category:Writers. Those were not needed because the article was already in Category:Writers from Ohio, which is under both of the other categories in the category "tree". This change and similar ones will need to be undone, so please do not do this in future changes.

I see that you have been editing here only a few months, so you might not know about some things that are different on Simple English Wikipedia. If you'd like to learn about that, you can look at this list I maintain of some of the differences. The list itself is not a policy or guideline, but it links to some relevant policies and guidelines.

Hello, Brtom1! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links". This makes it simpler and easier to read.
