December 2022 change

Hello, Gingermead! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Related pages" instead of English Wikipedia's "See also", which you used in "Beelzebub". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Related pages" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! Welcome... change

Hello Gingermead, and welcome to our Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here. I have seen that in some cases you removed images from articles. I just want to tell you that Wikipedia is not censored. Many of the images that you removed had been there a long time. In many cases, these images are hand-picked to illustrate the subject at hand. So, instead of simply removing them, post a discussion on the talk page, and tell us why the image should be removed, or replaced. And no, I don't think that for example showing an image of a bare-breasted African woman on the page that explains what a breast is, is inappropriate; it could be expected. You will always find societies or groups that have different views from your own. Would you expect that all girls and women wear a veil, because some people in the world say they should? - I am open to discussion. Thank you for reading this. Thank you for your response. I was removing images from articles which had been edited by a single-purpose editor whose sole intention was to include images of a certain type in these articles. I am certainly aware that Wikipedia is not censored, or that the breast article should not have any images of breasts in, but an entire gallery seems gratuitous, which is why I used this as my rationale. Gingermead (talk) 22:17, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
In case of the breast article: Those images have been in the article for a long time. Again: they are what a reasonable person would expect when searching for the term. They were moved to a gallery a while back. Please use the article talk page, to discuss, before simply removing them. Eptalon (talk) 22:21, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure a reasonable person would expect a gallery of breasts without any encyclopedic purpose (which the English Wikipedia doesn't have), but I won't oppose re-adding this in this instance. Gingermead (talk) 14:57, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
In this case: a close up of a breast, and a bare-breasted African woman. Nothing unexpected. And look at the images frwp or eswp use. Find any similarities. All I wanted to point out: removing/replacing images needs discussion on the article tp, as finding appropriate images may be difficult (depends a bit on the subject). Homosexuality change

Since the title of the article is "homosexuality", that's the term that should be used in the article. "Gay" may be the preferred term in everyday conversation, but that's not how the article is named. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:12, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

This doesn't make sense; at the very lease "homosexual pride" should be referred to as "gay pride" as very few people call it the former. Gingermead (talk) 22:18, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Moving to userspace change

Please don't move articles to user space. This leaves a redirect behind that then has to be deleted. We typically don't move pages to user space on this project. If you think a page should be moved to userspace, try asking an admin. Operator873 connect 22:33, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

January 2023 change

Hello! Thank you for creating a new category. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 02:17, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Nelly van Balen Blanken change

Hi Gingermead, I saw you copied the article Nelly van Balen Blanken from the Simple to the English Wikipedia. Note that her birth name is "Nelly van Balen Blanken". Her marriage name being Blaauboer (married to Jacob Blaauboer: see her death announcement) but also written as "Blauwboer" (De Zaanlander newspaper) or "Blauwbos" (trackfield.brinkster.net). So "née Blauwboer[1] or Blauwbos" in the first sentence is not correct. SportsOlympic (talk) 20:16, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, thanks for correcting me! I've changed that on the main enwiki article now. Gingermead (talk) 20:19, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
