@Thegooduser: Would appreciate some help. I want to make sure I'm doing the stub tagging right. What's the correct way to add specific category tags, and not the generic {{stub}} tag?--Infogapp1 (talk) 11:25, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you're talking about tagging stubs for articles, use twinkle, I wouldn't do this for categories (but a category does need 3 articles or it will be deleted if left empty for 4 days), for twinkle Auntof6 mentioned not to use {{bio-stub}} on twinkle, instead you would need to manually add {{biography-stub}} instead, to avoid confusion. It's pretty straightforward using stub tags on twinkle, so I'm not going to explain it here. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 15:15, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oh, nifty tool thank you very much! Will be reading the documentation about it now. Thanks a lot! --Infogapp1 (talk) 16:11, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) It's not that you can't use {{bio-stub}}, it's just that it's clearer if you use {{biography-stub}}. That way it's clear that you didn't mean that it was a biology stub. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:28, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Thegooduser:@Auntof6: Copy that, thanks to you both for clarifying! --Infogapp1 (talk) 20:00, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Inasmuch as I'd like to try it, I'm a little bit scared not knowing what will happen. Will it ban me from the site? LOL. Hey so quick question about my disclaimer: who do you think I should reach out to to resolve it? I would prefer to just have all my edits in both Wikidata and Wikipedia under just 1 username to avoid confusion not just for me, but for others, too. What do you think would be best resolution? All my Wikipedia edits are under Infogapp1, while most of my edits are in Infogapp - all because of my noob mistake. I would just prefer to keep them all as Infogapp if they can be all be merged. Or do you think that disclaimer alone is sufficient? I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong or creating unnecessary confusion. --Infogapp1 (talk) 10:20, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

You can always ask me questions, it does not bother me. As for what I said above, if you try to warn yourself, you get "Warning yourself can be seen as a sign of mental instability! Are you sure you want to proceed?" and if you try to VIP yourself it says "You don't want to report yourself, do you?" and if you try to talkback yourself, you get "Is it really so bad you're talking back to yourself?", and if you welcome yourself it says 'Are you really sure you want to welcome yourself?..." --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:45, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have a couple of questions:

1. Merging duplicate pages in Twinkle I'm familiar with the manual moving from drafts to publish, but I'm not sure how to merge a dupe page in Twinkle yet. How do I do that?

2. Creating talk page archives Also, just for my future reference (as I don't think I need it at this point yet and depending on how complex the process can be): how do I create an archive.

Preference Also, what's your organisational preference: are OK with me simply pinging the same thread with new questions here, or should I go to your talk page with specific headers/questions so they're not all lumped up? β€” Infogapp1 (talk) 10:32, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

For archives, if you want to have it done in an automated way. Follow these instructions en:User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo which apply here as well and my bot will archive stuff for you automatically. Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages will help you understand merging. -Djsasso (talk) 12:06, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your constant work here at Simple Wiki! I truly appreciate your edits ranging from article creations to fixing up articles such as adding infoboxes to headers. It is your work that will keep this wiki running smoothly and efficiently! --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 14:55, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@TDKR Chicago 101: Thank you very much for the appreciation! I enjoy learning each day, and it's great to be part of the community. Can I have this added on my user page? I'm not the best user in terms of complex formatting yet, and hat tip to @Thegooduser: for fixing my userbox yesterday, so would appreciate some guidance if that's possible. Thanks again! Signature again change

Please fix your signature - (1) it does not show your username, nor does it (2) link to your userpage and/or user talk page. Policy requires that user signatures satisfy both requirements here. You may want to take a look at WP:SIGN for more information. ChenzwΒ Β TalkΒ  16:16, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Chenzw: Ah yes, I remember changing the settings hoping it will automatically sign things for me in cases I forget. Hope this works now? --Infogapp1 (talk) 16:20, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Update, I'm not going to change it for now as I don't want to mess up even the default sig, but for future reference, if I wanted to customise my signature, it says in the doc, but I couldn't seem to find the "Nickname"? Is it available on another interface perhaps?

Go to the my settings tab at the top of the page. In the bar that says "Nickname", put in code for the signature you want. --Infogapp1 (talk) 16:26, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have updated the page, although EN will probably have the most updated set of instructions - I posted the link to EN's page a while ago on your user talk page a while ago (somewhere above). ChenzwΒ Β TalkΒ  16:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
By the way, there is no automatic signing, so I am not sure what you were referring to by the setting for that - editors themselves must always remember to sign. ChenzwΒ Β TalkΒ  16:45, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Will check now, thank you. I think I just saw you fixed my signatures in my votes. I was initially under an impression that some bot/system detects a missing signature and somehow adds that, but it's all clear now you had to manually add it. Apologies, and thanks again.--Infogapp1 (talk) 16:50, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Β :@Chenzw: Noticed this SignBot in Commons fixing (yet again, me forgetting my sig!) Would you recommend it, and would it work here on Simple? β€” Infogapp1 (talk) 17:20, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

It is up to editors who want to run bots to request to run them here. The person who runs signbot has not done so here. -Djsasso (talk) 17:32, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ray Dalio change

If you don't want the article to be deleted as a "copyright-violation" you should read this page and this page for instructions on how to attribute another Wikipedia, which you haven't done yet. Thank You! --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:52, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Thegooduser: Oh, shoot. See, I was always under the impression that it's OK to copy sections from the English or any other wikis and change it up a little bit. I'm reading the guide you've added and will make the necessary edits. I've also made some copy edits to the article so it's not exactly the same. I'll try to figure which situation specifically affects the article and make the appropriate actions accordingly based on the doc. To clarify, this is just for the copy within the article, or does it include the infobox, too? --Infogapp1 (talk) 22:37, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Whenever you copy from another Wikipedia, Include in the edit summary "Create article from [Link of Wikipedia diff]" and use the template Template:Translated page (see the template on how to add the attribution) on the talk page of that article. You need to simply the article and the infobox (like the description of the picture). Don't worry, I made this mistake once too! --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 22:40, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Just added that template on the talk page. Would you mind taking a look if I did it right? --Infogapp1 (talk) 23:00, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
You need to follow the format of the template. The format is {{Interwiki copy|url=XXXXXX|title=XXXXX}}. You need to input your URL and title of the article into those respective spots. Right now, you're just putting {{Interwiki copy}} and not putting the URL and title in. Only (talk) 00:03, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thank you! I actually didn't know the rest of the format, so thanks for supplying it. What about in the edit summary. Do I need to add the version's link too? Or can I just mention: "Create article from EN Wikipedia. Details in the talk page"? --Infogapp1 (talk) 00:08, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Also, do I need to sign that notice? --Infogapp1 (talk) 00:11, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
For future reference, you can click on a link and see the format and how to use it. For the summary, you can use that comment; you don't need to put the link in the change summary. And no, don't sign it. Just leave the template at the top of the article's talk page. Only (talk) 00:12, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Copy that, thanks! --Infogapp1 (talk) 00:27, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

QD A4 change

Please note that some of your recent quick deletion nominations were incorrect - QD A4 is used when the article itself does not claim that the subject is notable ("does not say why the subject is important"). As long as the article claims that the article subject is important, QD A4 does not apply. It does not matter whether you agree with the article's claim or not - that is something that should be discussed at RfD.

Please do not use the QD mechanism as a substitute for the normal RfD process. Matters like reference bombing, whether coverage is significant or passing, whether sources are reliable etc. are to be discussed at RfD. ChenzwΒ Β TalkΒ  03:54, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Noted about the differences. I believe this was only the case for Big Fat Notebook which was poorly sourced, but I agree this shouldn't have been QD'd. As for Mandar Agashe, I have missed the scam bit where the subject was implicated, the referencing and placement of the information may need to be updated. β€” Infogapp1 (talk) 12:41, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
The confusion stemmed from my recent experiences with the RfD process in EN, and then when I applied the same principles here in Simple, my RfD often fall under QD, so there's just that unnecessary mix-up. I will, however, try to be more discerning moving forward. Thanks again for your understanding. β€”Infogapp1 (talk) 11:36, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

By the way, your edit for Among Us (video game) was quite a good start. I would suggest that when creating articles, check them out first on English Wikipedia (like how they're named there) and follow a similar pattern. For example, in this case, they only named it as "Among Us" and usually disambiguation is added at the top of the article. At its current form, I've added "no sources" tag as there's no reference to the article. Here's a good overview of how it's done. β€” Infogapp1 (talk) 13:16, 29 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
