Dialect or Different Languages???
Shouldn't Sardinian and Sicilian be classified as dialects? I find the current version of the article very misleading.Noelle 19:55, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- No, because Sardinian and Sicilian are own languages, not dialects. The life of brian (talk) 19:58, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Italy make some very fast cars like Lamborghini Sesto Elementos and Ferrari Lafferaris but tey make fiats as well.
Confusing comment
Under "People and Culture" the article says: "After the United States and many other countries in the world, Italy has the largest illegal immigrant problem in the world." This is confusing. If it is after the United States and many other countries, then the problem is not the largest in the world. The statistics should be verified and this statement should be cleaned up.

- unlink all years.
- Its official name is The Italian Republic. - More official is the name in the main language of the country.
- and a developed country. - What is meant with developed? anyway, needs ref.
- New stub created. Don't forget Barras, this is PGA, not PVGA, the referencing doesn't need to be as strict as you seem to want it. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:49, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Before 1861, it was made up of small city states. - How many states exists at that time?
- It varied. And it's not particularly important as it's just the "concept" of it being made up of smaller states that's important here. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:02, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Template:I believe that Italia uses summer time - needs to be mentioned in time zone.
- Simple Wiki's template doesn't support that (which clearly you're referring to the en.wiki article). I've added it somehow. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

- Regions: What is the meaning of the asterisk (*)? - Can we get a map comparable to the one at France#Divisions; look at en:Italy#Administradive divisions to see what I mean.
- Politics: Can you give us anything that we don't already have in the overview box? - Extend, perhaps mention political parties, how the different people are elected, for how long they serve, what parties have influenced Italy a lot..
- People and culture: Immigrant problem: Mention that the tiny, now barren islets of Lampedusa / Linosa is the root of this problem? - It's only 115 km from the African mainland.
- Italy was the birthplace of Universities; the first ones were Salerno (1055, medicine), and Bologna (1088, canonical law); Renaissance started in Tuscany...
- Religion: are there any important minorities, mention Vatican City, how big is the influence of religion on everyday life...

Comments for PGA
Here goes;
- Complex words and terms needing linking or inline defining are; founding, aircraft, territories, kilometers, similar, descendants, ancient, World Heritage, properties, considers, outstanding, universal, concentrated, Head of State, Head of Government, Italian Lira, civil, rights, unable, territory, divided, several, independent, states, Earl, defeating, domination, Garibaldi, crowned, Pope, declared, participating, reunited, participated, ally, Central Powers, border, surrendered, Fascism, dictator, movement, invaders, fascist, republic, dynasty, adopt, railway, network, panoramas, around, and ranked.
#The History section has a {{complex}} tag on it. Fatal error!
I think that's it for now. Cheers and good luck! fr33kman talk 00:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- No, I fixed the history section. I've asked multiple people to review it, but nobody's gotten around to it. Meetare Shappy Cunkelfratz! 00:42, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- I have reviewed the history section and agree with the continued placement of the {{complex}} tag for the following reason;
- The following words need linking or explaining; territory, states, domination, declared, Catholic, reunited, participated, surrendered, Fascism, dictator, ally, movement (as in political movement), invaders, and dynasty.
- Additionally in the politics section, "left-wing", "right-wing" and "coalition" need defining and "Lira" needs linking. Hope this helps! Good luck! fr33kman talk 13:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention also that per en:WP:LEAD the lead section should have a summary of all important points in all other sections. In general nothing important found in the rest of the article should be a surprise if one has read the lead. As such, the lead needs expanding. I know that often we don't do this here, but with an article that has a good enough length to it, as this one does, I feel it's better to have a good lead. (It's not a killer however) fr33kman talk 14:05, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
I noticed that there was still a {{complex}} tag in the history section. I feel that I've fixed the section, so I removed the tag. hmwithτ 16:06, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've linked/simplified all of the words mentioned above. Shappy talk 13:01, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

- "In the 1850s, the Earl of Cavour, who was the Head of Government of "State of Sardinia" talked the Austrians in Lombardy and Veneto into creating a Northern Italian state." - Too long and thus complex
- Flesch-Kincaid, though flawed, gives a readability score of 48.3 = not good. Simplify.

More concerns
- We have one statement that is unreferenced in the lead section - please fix it.
- What do the asterisks (*) in the list of regions mean? Either they are removed completely or a legend is included to prevent confusion. I believe this has been brought up before.
- Is population density allowed to be "n/a"?
- No other problems I can find otherwise. Chenzw Talk 13:27, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Barras' comments
- References need all
accessdate
and should use the {{Cite book}} or {{Cite web}} - The website mentioned under "Other websites" is for advertisment, imo.
- The article is tagged with needs proving.
- Reference 2 is a blog, forum or what ever. This isn't a reliable source.
- The "Transportation" section has only one sentence, what clearly is too less.
- The list in the Regions-section should be in two columns.
- Why have some of the regions an asterisks * ?
- Other cities in Italy are Milan, Turin, Florence, Naples, and Venice. - Why are these cities mentioned and not others?
- Italy has two very small independent states, San Marino and the Vatican City. - Sounds like Italy is the owner of this states.
- The population of Italy is a little over 58 million. - Related to which year? 1759 or 1929?
- The Pope, who was angry, said that he was a prisoner to keep Catholic people from being active in politics. - needs a ref. Prbably he was happy?
- Dates in the history section should be unlinked.
Questionable "Italy Religiosity" graph
Not a WikiExpert, but I believe someone with children under the age of 15 or so should check the data in this graph. Last three categories are the names of characters in the Nintendo Mario Brothers game. 66.31.84.94 (talk) 01:34, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
