Deletion of Mediterranean Ridge

You tagged this article for QD G6. Why? Is it to make way for a move? Please clarify. Thanks. Chenzw  Talk  03:57, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletion log summaries

Just a word of caution: please watch what goes in the summary when you delete the page. Logs are permanent and public, and the last thing Wikipedia needs is to publicity about a possibly slanderous "xxxx is gay lulz" in an deletion log summary. I suggest checking the "Clean Delete Reasons" in the gadgets page to prevent this from happening. Thank you, Cassandra 01:49, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense :-(

(Deletion log); 02:31 . . American Eagle (Talk | changes) deleted "Planets in discovery order" (QD G1: Complete nonsense)

I was just begging you both a restoration followed by a fusion of both historics because my name does not appear at all in solar system "history". Let me add that this compilation took me a lot of time and I see no reason why I should be denied the legitimate sourcing begged. Of course, if named sysop ;-))) I could do it myself very quickly.

I did not delete the page originally, Creol did it after he merged it into Solar system. The page I deleted only had the deletion summery in it. Ask Creol if you really want it restored, I'm not sure why he deleted it. -- America †alk 16:50, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes

I dont mean to be rude but in the future can you please not completely copy infoboxes from En wiki, such as you did to Andre Agassi, as they just end up being mostly red links. I have no problem with you adding infoboxes just try to adapt them a bit first. Cheers. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 14:33, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but it is useful information that should not be left out - even if it has not been created yet. I'm not sure how to close this message, but okay. -- America †alk 16:58, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thtas ok I just wondered if I should edit them or not if you were going to at somestage. It wasn't a big problem anyways. The Flying Spaghetti Monster!
No, you go ahead and edit them, articles are not required to have an infobox. It just, at least most of the time, makes things look better and easier to get the basic info people want. But go ahead. Cheers -- America †alk 20:53, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

You keep using that word

"I do not think it means what you think it means."

Looking at your logs, you tend to use the term "namespace" a lot. (Pontos moved to Pontus ‎ (correct namespace)) That is not a namespace correct, that is a naming correction, style correction or naming conventions correction. A namespace correction would be moving something from the wrong namespace to the correct one, for example from the Mainspace to the user namespace or template namespace. -- Creol(talk) 16:31, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah yes, I guess it is the proper title, and not namespace. I just have always entered that, and never thought it might be wrong. Plus I though it didn't matter that much, so I just wrote it quickly, but I guess was wrong. Thanks -- America †alk 16:41, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fixing redirects

Hey. I saw you made a few changes to the Kournikova article, cool, thanks. Do bear in mind, though, that just correcting redirects is something of an unnecessary burden on the servers - as long as the redirect goes to the right place then it's not a problem. However, if you change the actual article then rolling in some redirect changes is perfectly acceptable. See this for more. Anyway, all the best. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:08, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some of them were, for example, Model instead of the correct. I'm just a Goober and want everything to be perfect. But I guess it's not that important, I just do it to get the "You Have New Message (Last Change)" thing on my screen. ;) Hehe and thanks -- America †alk 17:45, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Me & My Family

Make sure that when you nominate an article for deletion, you don't close it. The Wiki's not big enough for people to react to it, but someone may. There's a conflict of interest if someone with a stated POV on the issue deletes the article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 21:10, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but every user that commented agreed it was a hoax - and even some users who knew about it (watching CTV) were sure. If it were a 50-50 or even 25-75, it should still be discussed. It can be undeleted, but Wikipedia should never contain information that is false and a hoax. If you know otherwise, please comment. Thanks -- America †alk 21:19, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hay there. Using public account account. A link to the past has a point. You nominated the article for deletion, but you even closed it yourself. I know everyone agreed it should have been deleted, it is a conflict of interest. Since you want it to be deleted, you deleted it. This isn't supposed to sound mean by the way, it's frowned upon if you do this repeatedly. I hope you understand American Eagle, but it's really important not to close things you nominated. -- -- RyanPublic (talk) 22:06, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I should have said something when Eptalon closed the List of Pokemon as a keep/quick-delete later after nominating it, no? Cassandra 22:51, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you should have. I would consider that a conflict of interest. But that was quite a while ago. If you want for future reference, yes, you should. -- -- RyanPublic (talk) 22:54, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I only nominated it there for discussion, I didn't see its notability and wanted to see if others agreed. They completely did, so I [Quick]Deleted under a hoax, but I gave it the RfD summery to point people in the right direction. I only put it there for assurance that it was as I suspected. So when I was granted Sysop, and had the ability to do so, and seeing that all users agreed it should be QD'd as a hoax/not notable, I deleted the false page. I didn't mean to take a vote, really, twas looking for comment. -- America †alk 22:59, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
No one's attacking or questioning your integrity, people make that mistake sometimes. However, it is important that people who nominate articles aren't able to close the discussion as well. Even though it's a discussion, someone who's involved in the discussion shouldn't be the one making a decision on it. This is constructive criticism, not an attack. - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:18, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh yes, I know you weren't doing that. I was just saying that the only reason I put it there was for conformation of what I had suspected of it. And when I was reassured, I was sure it should be deleted. I get what you mean, but it wasn't my intent for it to be a run-of-the-mill RfD. I wasn't meaning to put it up for a vote and hope for the best, I was just seeking opinion. But now that's over, the page has been deleted (and it should be), and I'll try to let it play out longer without closing it too soon. Cheers -- America †alk 04:51, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
What I'm saying is merely that if it's clearly a deletable article, it'll be deleted by an uninvolved party. - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:54, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay. -- America †alk 05:05, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Today's baseball uniform

Hello. I just wanted to thank you for all the work you've done to make baseball uniform a possible GA. 4 supports and zip opposes thus far! :D There is just one last problem. The article is mostly about the history of baseball uniforms, but I feel there should be a section like "Today" explaining how baseball uniforms are in general today. Could you help me with this? I'm currently just a tad busy, but I know you'll help. So can you? I or 2 paragraphs with a few references would be fine. -- RyanCross (talk) 00:48, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

'Tis in my sandbox. I think I may re-layout it, move around. Cheers -- America †alk 01:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Arggg... you should have never got me started on that. I did some, but I'm not sure what you'll think. That took forever! Cheers -- America †alk 05:25, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hm, It'll do. I might be able to add it it. Thanks for your help! :) By the way, why is it ever since you become an administrator, you've been replying on your own talk page like me? Seems a bit strange. :P -- RyanCross (talk) 05:37, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kalasha

See Wikipedia:Requests_for_deletion/Requests/2008/Kalasha#Kalasha. Your changes result in creating many more issues with the subject including double redirect, incorrect categories and iw links, messed up references which do not support the text of the article (3000 polytheists and 3000 muslims per the referenced infobox and 3000-6000 polytheists and 10-30,000 muslims in the text) and burying the history of the topic on the original article (now a redirect).

Bad enough with Benniguy's pagemove back in January, but correcting this properly is going to require an article deletion (Kalasha), a partial undelete (just the edit needed to be merged to the correct article) , a second deletion (Kalash people), a page move, a full undelete (and revert), another deletion (Kalasha) and partial undelete, a redirect from Kalasha to Kalash people and fixed to categories, iw's and referenced text (the a reference section). Oy.. -- Creol(talk) 05:44, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not that experienced, but I tried to clear it up. I really have to go now, so could you (or another sysop) make sure it's right (I think I messed up restoration, but really have to go). Thanks -- America †alk 06:07, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Creol. Something I just found out. You've very good. Thanks -- America †alk 06:19, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Somedays are harder than others.. especially when you are still picking things up. I reverted back one edit (before the removal of references), fixed the cats and iw's, added the reference section and then edited the population information to match the referenced information and then just did a general cleanup/linking terms. I am still a bit uncertain about that line "They are known for their human features".. most humans have them and I realy doubt this statement in general.. -- Creol(talk) 06:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey AE, thanks for your copyedit - would you consider supporting it at VGA yet or are there other issues? Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:53, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

With me, I must personally go through an article and give it my inspection before voting. I've done so over the last few days, and I'm about to vote. Cheers -- AmericanEagle (talk) 18:26, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Cool. I really appreciate the time you've spent on it so far. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:27, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your sig

You've changed your signature but now the link is wrong - your user name is "American Eagle" but it links to "AmericanEagle". Had me confused at WP:PVGA for a while. - tholly --Turnip-- 20:07, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh thanks. I was busy and just fixed it. Thanks -- AmericanEagle (talk) 20:18, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's better :) - tholly --Turnip-- 20:32, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maronites/Assyrian church of the East

Grats on status change, by the way. :) Since you seem to be interested in Christianity, have a look at Maronites and Assyrian Church of the East; both split rather early (and the Assyrian Church has rather particular views on the nature of Christ, also found in Nestorianism (which was condemned as false, by the Council of Ephesus in 431). Tell me what you think? --Eptalon (talk) 20:11, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I'm not sure. I decided work on them, and did some, but I couldn't say if it was incorrect or not. Though I am an active Christian, I know very little about early-Christianity, the separation from Catholicism and so on. So I don't really know much about it. Sorry, Eptalon -- AmericanEagle (talk) 22:47, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't be; I also know very little on them. Thanks anyway though. --Eptalon (talk) 07:28, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Let's hope somebody skilled from EN will come, that would help. -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

<_<

02:45, 15 July 2008 American Eagle (Talk | changes) deleted "Cecilia James" ‎ (QD G10: Attack page: content was: '{{qd|G10}} Cecilia is a very anoying girl.<ref>why does she annoy me?</ref> Where she lives will not be revealed, nor will her school name and address.<ref>email her with this....actually...no...don't.</re)

You partly did it again. At least it's not as bad as the "he is gay" one. I'm more concerned with the first sentence, "Cecilia is a very anoying girl", as that may have offended someone and it might have been considered a personal attack. Maybe you need some tuturing with the tools or something. -- RyanCross (talk) 02:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Turn the thing on under "Gadgets" and clear your cache. Chenzw  Talk  03:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I noticed. Wrestlemania is an inanimate object, not a "he," so that's not nearly as bad as a real person. But man, oh Cecelia, you're breaking my heart. you're shakin' my confidence daily Cassandra 04:02, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Arrgg. I forgot to do that. I'm guessing that there's hundreds of "Cecilia James" out there. Shoot, why didn't remember? Right after I deleted it, I checked the log to see if it was really bad, and it only said "annoying" and didn't give the e-mail address. I'm sorry and grateful it wasn't worse. I have turned on the gadget and cleared my cache. Very sorry -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:20, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Congrats

Well Congradulations (not sure if thats spelt right) AE especially since you've only been a member for a half of a year. What a suprise, I feel so weak but I'm really that obsessed with Wikipedia. Oh well thanks for being so cool. By the way did you read the artical I sent or take notice of the QUI thing I showed you? Best Regards.--Ezekiel †alk 14:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just thought I'd let you know 'Congratulations' is spelt with a T. If that was just a typo dont be offended, just trying to help you out. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 21:27, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Spaghetti Monster, but anyways you did a really good job man and I'm just glad to be friends with to admins, even though I am not yet worthy. Good luck man and serve the lord well. But remeber this verse: For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.--Ecclesiastes 5:7, or in other words. DON'T GET ADDICTED TO THIS. Best Regards.--Ezekiel †alk 16:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh yes, I've thought of that before. Thanks for that reminder that the Internet (and all other earthly things) come about 4th-5th in life. But I enjoy this anyway. Thanks -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Asteroid Infobox

Is it just me or is this a little complex for Simple Wiki? I like to think I am a bit of an astrononomy expert and half the terms here confused me! Are most simple wikipedia users going to be able to understand this? I've already tagged it with {complex} but aside from that is there anything anyone can do? The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 20:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know virtually nothing on astronomy but consider myself pretty bright. However that still really confused me (and meant very little). - tholly --Turnip-- 20:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Umm, I'm not sure, but all the links are blue and hopefully will be explanatory enough. But I know so little about it. -- AmericanEagle (talk) 20:18, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The links are as horrible if not worse than the infobox. I'll probably tag them all with complex when I get in tommorow. I mean

The Argument of perihelion, also known as argument of periapsis or argument of perifocus (ω) is the orbital element describing the angle of an orbiting body's periapsis (the point of closest approach to the central body), relative to its ascending node (the point where the body crosses the plane of reference from South to North). The angle is measured in the orbital plane and in the direction of motion.

what is that about? I'd rather have a blank article than that to be honest The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 20:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know what you mean. I wish we could change all highly complex articles to one-sentence (but simple) stubs. But not sure what we can really do about it, besides try to simplify as much as possible. Cheers -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you know anything about Dark Orbit? Would be some help if you did. Currently I am working and making that artical.-- Running  talk , the founder the Wikiproject Anti-Vandalism 05:41, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Naw, not that much of a gaming-person. I would help if I knew much about it, but really never heard of it. Just a tip, try getting rid of all the "you" and "your" in the article by changing it to "users" and "people who play this game" - it makes it sound more like an encyclopedia. And remember it's article and not artical. But good work. Cheers -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:52, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Human

Hi; It looks like you put an NPOV disclaimer on Human; can you quickly take the time and write what is wrong with the article, or what should be done (ideally on its talk page)?- Thanks--Eptalon (talk) 16:44, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright. I'll make that my project. -- AmericanEagle (talk) 17:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I did some work to it and removed the tag. Cheers -- AmericanEagle (talk) 17:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

James Caviezel

An article you just created, James Caviezel, is in Category:Caviezel, James deaths, which makes no sense. I think it is a problem with a template, as the category is not listed in the actual article. I am looking into it, but I'm not very good with templates. Maybe you can help? --Andrew from NC (talk) 05:39, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. I just forgot to add an "|" to the {{BD}} template, and it messed that up. Sorry and thanks -- AmericanEagle (talk) 05:41, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
That would explain why I couldn't find the problem. I've never used {{BD}} that I can recall, I just insert the birth and death categories by hand. Thanks. --Andrew from NC (talk) 05:45, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Human

I have just done a major and I mean major re-write of Human. I haven't finished yet, but I'm gonig to finish it later. While I'm not doing it you couldn't help me out and take a look over it, maybe do some cleanup, some copyediting that kind of thing? It would really help me out. Cheers. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 14:03, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry.

Sorry.. I honestly didn't realise. mc8 17:25, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Anyways... here's a few things you should do for your sig... IMO:  Æ

... or maybe  æ  , or even  Ää  , which is literally AE in German (as an umlaut)! mC8 18:40, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I think they are very good, but I don't want to mess with my signature much. That just makes me discontent and want to change it again. I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to stick to the simple one I have. Thanks -- American Eagle (talk) 20:49, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Collaboration of WP:Christanity in Simple and Regular Wikipedias...

Are you aware of this message on my talk page; I am not that involved with Wikiproject Christianity, after all... --Eptalon (talk) 01:39, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Human again

Hello again; I dpn't know how much time you have, but i have re-written the Origins section of human. With this, I have also re-added the references you added (that were later removed); Could you read the respective section, and perhaps improve it, if you have the time? - Thanks --Eptalon (talk) 17:17, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Christianityfooter

I find quickly that we cannot say much in Simple English about Christianity without explaining your terms. For example, I have created Template:Christianityfooter from the English Wikipedia and am looking for feedback on the glosses that will be need to use for all the common Christian terms in it. (Only "Father" and "Son" were already on the Basic English wordlist. Please look at it and discuss/ give feadback, etc. I also hope this will lead us to use the same glosses for words in the articles.--Carlaude (talk) 15:29, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Templates

When working with noinclude tags in templates (as you did here) always make certain the noinclude tag comes immediately at the end of the main part of the template. There should be no extra spaces and certainly no extra lines between the end of the main template and the noinclude tag as these will be included with the template. This can cause extra line breaks to be added which can screw up pages. For example, on the page Azmi Bishara, the introduction before I removed the extra lines looked like this:

Azmi Bishara (Arabic: عزمي بشارة

, Hebrew: עזמי בשארה, born July 22, 1956),[1] was an Israeli politician.

This is definately not a good thing.. When you make an edit to a template, it is a good idea o always check a couple pages that template is used on to make certain the changes work the way you expected them to and did not cause other problems. -- Creol(talk) 20:23, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ahhhh, I didn't spacing in templates affected anything. Thanks for fixing my mistake... yet again, Creol. -- American Eagle (talk) 20:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
