Go into "my settings" at the top of the page, then copy out all the code into the "Nickname" box. It should work unless there's a problem with the code.
I'll read over it if it still doesn't work.
Gwib -(talk)- 14:31, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Try it with this text:

<font color="FF0000">I</font><font color="FF9900">am</font><font color="FFCC00">andrew</font><font color="00CC00">rice</font>(User)(Talk)

Just copy that line of text in that box into the Nickname box and it should work. Tell me if you want to change around the colours though, that's easy.

Copypaste

I saw your message to Razorflame. No copy pasted articles are not welcome or useful here and are liable to be deleted straight away. Dear Benniguy/Archive2.
I'd like to thank you deeply for participating in my RfA, which came out successful just today.
I'm happy to say that I'll be more active than ever now, and that any page that needs protecting or any vandal that needs blocking will be done so (unless someone beats me to it!). If you have any comments to make, concerns or even critisism, then please leave a message on my talk page.

Hi Ben! Happy to see you decided to give this a try. Sorry for the rough start you got here - I guess that's the reward for being honest! Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy it and like I've said elsewhere feel free to ask for help. I know you can't edit my talk page on enwiki due to this minor problem he he but I'll check my talk page here and there is always e-mail. Have fun! EconomicsGuy 07:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Calling people homophobes really isn't the smartest thing to do Ben. You only get one shot at this though I understand that you felt you were being asked to leave before you ever got a chance to start here. EconomicsGuy 08:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Technosexuality

your removal of my content on technosexuality was completely innapropriate. You removed some very valid content, and you have changed the meaning away from academic consenus. Images

change

En.wikipedia will allow "fair use" of copyrighted photos, such as the Jude Law image in technosexuality.

commons.wikipedia will not allow fair use images

So not all images on en:wiki are on commons

Simple.wkipedia does not allow any image uploads. So using the image tag automatically searches the commons database.

But as they are different wikis they are not always interchangeable. If it is on the commons servers it can be ued anywhere. If the image is on en:wp servers it can only be used there. --Bärliner 15:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

what exactly is 'fair use'? Oo Ben.(Talk).(Changes) 15:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use is that anyone who downloads it can use it (at least, that's my understanding of it). Razorflame 16:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
On the contrary fair use is a copyrighted image that can be used for limited purposes. Like a picture from a film to illustrate that film. --Bärliner 16:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
In the same way that you can photocopy part of a text book for study. A fair use image is not freely available because it has some form of copyright on it and can only be used under limited circumstances. --Bärliner 16:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ahhhh... ok... well how do you know if an image is fair use or not? Ben.(Talk).(Changes) 16:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Experience and understanding the license system. If it is freely available, that is the photgrapher/artist does not have copyright then it will be OK for commons. Any other case will almost certainly be fair use. commons has licensing eperts who can help. It is best to ask them if you want to upload an image. If you upload something which you should not it is liable to be deleted. Do it too many times and you could be blocked. --Bärliner 17:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Prayer for a Blessing on the New Year, For you

change

O sacred and adorable Trinity, hear our prayers on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy, and for all that are in authority over us. Bless, we beseech Thee, during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church; convert heretics and unbelievers; soften the hearts of sinners so that they may return to Thy friendship; give prosperity to our country and peace among the nations of the world; pour down Thy blessings upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances, and upon our enemies, if we have any; assist the poor and the sick; have pity on the souls of those whom this year has taken from us; and do Thou be merciful to those who during the coming year will be summoned before Thy judgment seat. May all our actions be preceded by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance, so that all our prayers and works, having been begun in Thee, may likewise be ended through Thee. —This unsigned comment was added by 88.108.32.15 (talkchanges) 16:48, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

My reaction to the above

change

You are of course free to deal with it as you see fit. My reaction was based on the fact that if the above messages were left on other people's talk pages, they may take offense. My knee jerk reaction is to make it clear that we will take a hard line on users who are not being constructive and possibly harassing others. Ben, it is considered very bad form to change other's posts on any Wikipedia. It is even worse in your case, when so many are watching you to see you do not disrupt. I advise you in the strongest possible terms to concentrate solely on articles for the time being. After you have built up some credit here, you can start participating in discussion. Jeffpw (talk) 19:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
but when i left a comment there, there was an edit conflict and i did something wrong...but since then i've just been tidying up and coloring it to make it look nice :)
You don't need to "make things nice", as you said on my talk page. That does not contribute to improving the encyclopedia. Please add content. Nobody is interested (at this time, anyway) ion your ability to pretty up policy discussions. Also, as a quick aside, Wiki convention is to keep conversations on one page. Please watchlist my page so you can see if I reply. I do that to every page I edit. Jeffpw (talk) 19:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok i'll deffo keep that convo convention as policy next time ;D

but... don't you think it looked nicer this way? :( its easier to read, and attracts the eye more because its prettier, so it means people will want to read it more, and then encourages them to join in :) Ben.(Talk).(Changes) 19:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

To put it simply, no. On Wikipedia, we're not great fans of nice colours and images everyone, we're pretty boring. We like to have all discussions laid out like the ones above it, and spending ages making it look better isn't really welcomed. I appreciate your effort, but unfortunately it's beginning to cause disruption. Archer7 - talk 19:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
but... :'(((( why would you want to purposefully make it ugly? Ben.(Talk).(Changes) 19:32, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Color changing

change

Please stop as it is a waste of your time and the administrators time to keep undoing the changes. A word of advice: Admins do not like it when their changes are reverted, it makes us unhappy very quickly. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  19:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is your final warning. Please stop making the changes you have been making to Simple talk or you will be blocked from editing. -- Creol(talk) 19:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Look at it this way: Wikimedia Foundation is spending lots of money to keep these servers running. We, the users, are supposed to use these resources for the best reason. If we spend lots of time on undoing what other people have written (and they spend time to revert it) or chaning the size of a header, which is already readable and as attractive as all other headers are, we are sort of abusing the resources. - Huji reply 19:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ben, the rules say do not use colours. That should be the end of the discussion. Ignoring the rules will not change them. Remember, abiding by the rules is one of the ways of being accepted here and back on enwp--Bärliner 19:54, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

>> There is no policy saying you are not allowed to make things different colours <<
There is no policy for a lot of other things. Here is where common sense comes into the game. I think, when several experienced users tell you that you shouldn't do a thing, you can see what common sense is. - Huji reply 20:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The purpose of Simple Wikipedia is to create a encyclopedia written in simple English. The purpose of Simple Wikipedia is not to spread love, happiness, etc. with colors. You can express these things freely on your user page and through your signature. Project pages, their talk pages, and main space pages need to look somewhat professional and serious. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  20:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ben, there are now 5 people telling you the same thing. Most people, especially when new and beling allowed to edit after being banned at a sister site, would listen to the first. Don't screw up this last chance you have. I am telling you as your mentor to stop this and concentrate only on making and improving articles. Jeffpw (talk) 20:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
>> But if there is no policy on the matter, I dont see why any of you have any right ... <<
It is not about rights. We don't set strict rules here. We sometimes even believe in ignoring all rules. Perhaps the only rule we never ignore is to do things which help the Wikipedia as an "encyclopedia". Spearding love is not part of an encyclopedia. Arguing with experienced users about they rights one thinks they don't have is not a part of an encyclopedia. Let's cut it here. - Huji reply 12:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent comment to Wikipedia:Simple Talk was not one you had to make. As your mentor here, I advise you (in addition to Jeffpw's note) to make articles. I have tried telling you in the nicest way possible, but it seems that that isn't working. It seems you need someone to be a blunt person. It takes a lot to get me talking bluntly, so you have been warned:

Please create articles and stop participating in discussions for the time being! If you ever feel the need to talk to someone, please tell them on their respective user talk pages and please keep your comments civil. Thanks Razorflame 20:35, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You and Simple

change

My personal opinon of Simple English Wikipedia is that we can be very lenient and forgiving of users that show that they deserve it. Everyone here knows that you have a bad past at English Wikipedia. And yet we are willing to have you here and make helpful contributions. I think it would be helpful to you to think of editing here as a chance to prove yourself. You will have to make good, helpful edits and not be disruptive in order to be allowed to continue editing here. One way to do this would be to avoid talking with other users and if you have a question, you can ask one of our administrators. To make sure I am perfectly clear: until further notice, please only edit articles or talk pages of admins. If you continue to be disruptive, we will have no choice but to block or ban you. · Tygrrr... 21:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Block

change

I have blocked you for 24 hours for editing Razorflame's page after being warned not to and more generally for being disruptive today. I encourage you to take this time to try to cool off and think about trying to be a productive, non-disruptive editor here. If you cannot do this when you return, you will be blocked for longer and possibly banned. I hope that you can straighten up, but if not, we will not hesitate to take action. Also, you may want to keep in mind Jeff's warning about talking to your school. I don't know him, but I assume he's not just making empty threats. · Tygrrr... 22:33, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've told Ben to stick to articles and keep the debating to private e-mails with me and/or Jeff. He is here to learn about editing, not fight battles and I know that he understands that. Needless to say new editors will always have article-related questions but if the chatter gets too much I'll tell him to contact me instead. EconomicsGuy (talk) 19:08, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

When the block expires

change

Remember that sometimes there is also an "autoblock" which needs to be released, too. The last time you got blocked they forgot to release the autoblock, and you got upset and made things worse for yourself. If that happens this time, politely post here that you are still autoblocked and they will release it. After that, do what Tygrrr requested of you and all will be fine. Remember: Constructive edits to articles are always welcome; much more so than debating things that are actually minor points. Jeffpw (talk) 22:30, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't type in all caps on any page. This is considered shouting and will not be tolerated. Just accept that we take precautions here and if you continue to criticize every move we make you will be blocked again until we see fit to unblock you. --Gwib -(talk)- 10:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

References

change

The reference list usually goes above the See Also category. See Jimi Hendrix or The Fall of Man for layout schemes. --Gwib -(talk)- 10:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Other websites" is a synonym of "See also", and both articles had their references above their "Other websites" list. Check the other VG article list, every single article has their references above their "See also"/"Other websites". --Gwib -(talk)- 11:11, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
We are not En Wiki. --Gwib -(talk)- 11:15, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
1. You created that article
2. Every single VG article has the layout I told you to use, why not just accept it rather than question it
3. Internal links are not references
--Gwib -(talk)- 11:22, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright, granted that you can ask questions, but "The order is see also, notes, references ..." isn't really asking a question. But if you'll take the trouble to check the VG article list then you'll see that each of them (if they have references) follow my layout. Just because En Wiki does it doesn't mean that Simple Wiki will follow. --Gwib -(talk)- 11:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

En Wiki can choose whichever layout they want. But just because they follow a certain layout doesn't mean that we have to follow it as well. --Gwib -(talk)- 11:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't forget the add the userbox for the simpleWikiProject Music, It's abouve or on This page. IuseRosary? 13:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can't edit my profile for the moment because Gwib said he is working on it... :p and also, i'm not allowed temporarily to write on your talk page, so I have to respond here. Ben(Talk).(Changes) 14:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

To Ben: That's ok...

To Gwib: Gwib, I fyou cann see this, then Ben wants the userbox on this page on his user page... Thanks.

To ben / Gwib: Do you know how to create Barnstars, because I want to make a few for the project.

To Ben: Oh, and can you go on to the page, which i have given the link for above in bold, and there is a list of stuff to do. That is if you're not already doing something. Thanks

IuseRosary 14:31, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok yeah definitely... i'll take a look at them in a while. For the moment, I'm trying to sort out establishing some layout policies here. :) lol Also... when you reply to another message above, usually what you do is put a colon (:) at the beginning of yours, which makes it indented. Then, the next person that replies would put two colons (::) so that their comment is more indented than yours. Then, you would put three (:::)... and so on... and it helps to keep things clear as to whose comment is whose. This is not a rule, but is something that helps... Ben(Talk).(Changes) 14:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
And also IuseRosary, your signature isn't working... I've corrected the one above that you left in html code... but you have to get rid of the question marks, exclamation marks, and other stuff you added, if you want it to actually work Ben(Talk).(Changes) 14:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • Thanks Ben/Andrew. That was kind of you to do that signiture thing for me. I didn't want to indent, it looks ugly, so I prefer to bullet point or do nothing! I am doing some user box's at the moment, I am in the health section but can't find the condition which I have. Isn't that silly! IuseRosary? 15:03, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • Yes bullet pointing is a great alternative :D And you stil need to get rid of those punctuation marks in your siggy lol... they stop it from working. My name is Ben by the way (it says it on my userpage). What health condition do you have? do you need help making a userbox? Ben(Talk).(Changes) 15:06, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • Ok, Ill change it in a bizzle. Ben, cool!I am blind in one eye, that is my health condition, but I can't seem to find a user box for it. I am fine though, but thanks for the offer IuseRosary? 15:12, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • What is your name again? here is the code for the userbox to put on your page (Just copy it as it looks there... don't go to click 'change' the page and then take it, because i've included special html codes that allow you to copy the code without having to go to the 'html'... and you could end up copying those codes when you copy the userbox... which would obviously stop the code from working lol):

<div style="float: left; border:solid #0f1d26 1px; margin: 1px;"> {| cellspacing="0" style="width: 238px; background: lightgoldenrodyellow;" | style="width:45px; height:45px; background:#0f1d26; text-align:center; font-size:{{{5|{14}}}}pt; color:{black};" | {{{logo|{}}}} | style="font-size: {8}pt; padding: 4pt; line-height: 1.25em; color: {black};" | This user is blind in one eye. |}</div>

Snake311

change

I suggest you remove the question. I believe you are not agreed not to contact editors, as opposed to admins. Also Snake, in Australia, believed he was being insulted and attacked by another editor. You are aware that what is said in the heat of the moment is often not what one truly believes. Also, I have already warned snake about the language he used. --Bärliner 14:35, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Apology

change

Please see my talk page for my response to your apology. I'm glad to see you are working more on articles. One quick note about the layout, we use the wording "Other websites" instead of "External links" and "See also" instead of "Internal links". The community decided a while ago that this is simpler wording. If you need proof, like with the colors, you can see the Manual of Style. The actual discussion is also in the Simple talk archives somewhere too. · Tygrrr... 15:38, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Block

change

You have been blocked for 48 hours for harrassing user:Tygrrr. You are harassing her and that is not acceptable. You seem to not be interested in contributing in a positive manner. She, as well as the rest of us, are being very lenient with you. When your block expires, I expect to see somewhere around 50% of your edits to be to the improvement/creation of mainspace articles here. That means very few changes to your user page, talk pages, and project pages. You are running out of chances to show you will contribute positively to this project. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  19:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unblock Request: Can I please be unblocked? I am sorry if it seemed that way, but I didn't mean to... :S If I am going to start getting these positive contributions done, then I need to start now really... I promise I won't even look at another person's talk page for tonight... but I was right in the middle of editing something and then when I clicked 'save', it came up with this message saying you'd blocked me... and i'd gone through like a paragraph... and if i wait till two days time, then I won't remember a thing of what I wrote... I am sorry. And since I am not going to talk to anyone for tonight, can you pass on my apology to Tygrrr as well... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 19:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you please log into your account and make the unblock request, so I know it's you and not somebody else, thanks Oysterguitarist 19:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I just tried... but when I clicked edit my talk page, it gave me the same message as it did for the other pages... is there another way I can verify who I am? in fact, would i really even need to verify who I am though? surely it would be obvious no one else would try to file an unblock request Oo 84.13.36.93 (talk) 19:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
To put it simply, no, you can't be unblocked. If blocks here were handled as leniently as you think they are, then we would be a joke. A block is not something to be toyed with and, to bring up an old saying my parents used to make me feel guilty, "sorry isn't enough". You so far haven't shown any positive feedback towards this encyclopedia and haven't created a single article without being forced too by other users. You need to show that you actually take our messages into consideration.
You'll wait out your block, and you'll create articles when it has been lifted or you can just stop editing here altogether. --Gwib -(talk)- 19:54, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Which is why I want to start editing straight away to make up for it all... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 19:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
How are we supposed to believe that you will do that after your last block which expired and you still caused disruption afterwards. Oysterguitarist 19:59, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well how about this. If I go do anything wrong, then you can ban me... because I know that I'm not going to do anything other than edit articles :) im sorry about before... i have removed the content from my user page... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Then you can do that after your block expires, cause I don't think any admins will unblock you. Oysterguitarist 20:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
But as I said, there is some stuff I really really need to do before I forget... I had the referance and everything. Please... 2 whole days off of this site? im sorry, really I am... I just don't see how blocking me as a punishment is supposed to do anything. Blocks are not supposed to be used as a punishment, they are meant to protect wikipedia from people who will vandalise or disrupt wikipedia. Since I have no intention whatsoever of doing either of those things now, can i please please be unblocked? I genuinely am sorry... and the disruption isnt going to continue 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:12, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
This is not a punishment it is to keep you from causing more disruption. Oysterguitarist 20:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not going to cause disruption! the only thing i have the intention of doing tonight is to go and edit articles... i promise... if i don't, then just ban me... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:20, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Two thirds of Ben's edits have been user talk. That is too disruptive. I have no intention of unblocking. --Bärliner 20:11, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well how am I supposed to go make edits to mainspace to counteract this if I'm blocked?! 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are supposed to comply to the block that one of our administrators has issued. Failure in doing so "now", will result in longer blocks, extended to your IP Address(es). --M7 (talk) 20:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
But I am requesting an unblock. Am I not allowed to do that? i have not gone round editing articles or anything... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:38, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I do not see - as administrator - any reason to unblock you. --M7 (talk) 20:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well ok, what is the reason to keep me blocked? Right now I could be editing an article... but instead, this is causing both of us to have to replace our constructive edits with editing here isntead... 84.13.36.93 (talk) 20:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The AN is for messages that need an admininstrator's involvement. This is usually used for issues such as spambots, users needing to be blocked, vandals, and other such information. Your message that you posted there was better suited to be written under Simple talk and under the heading looking for LGBT Project members or something around those lines. Please remember this in the future and please only use the AN for issues that need administrator involvement. Thanks Razorflame 14:42, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Advice

change

You may have heard the saying: First think then speak. For the WP there is a rule that is not written down: First read then write. You won't find that easy. But it might be helpful.

I'm sure you are much more intelligent than I am and you can learn much more quickly than I can. (And that is no compliment. I mean it.) But please be so kind not to ask questions about this advice for at least three days. (You may think it's total nonsense. This fellow is an idiot. - Personally I am not against you writing that on my talk page or my user page though it might not be approved by admins. - But please try to read talk pages and not to write there. And read what you have written as well.) I have to give no better advice. I am sure you will learn more than you thought you could. --Cethegus (talk) 16:48, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You asked me: "I don't think you're unintelligent, what makes you say that?" But I didn't say that. I said: "I'm sure you are much more intelligent than I am".
What made me say that? - I think I am rather intelligent. But when I first saw your conversation on Simple talk (and I knew nothing else about you) I had the impression, this chap needs to prove himself that he is more intelligent than the person he speaks to. Therefore I told you in the beginning that I think "you can learn much more quickly than I can". And I still mean it. - But till now you have learnt how to upset people but not yet really how to calm them down. You can learn that quickly. Please try! --Cethegus (talk) 20:30, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, Thank-You very much for that Barnstar, I feel you deserve one aswell, I am currently trying to figure out which one it is that you deserve, you desereve a few, lol. Remember, If you make one more Article for the music Project and Wikify another already created artiocle as part of the project and let me know which pages you have created, then you will definately be deserving a barnstar, as I said in my email. Your "account of Gwib's harassment"

change

The above account can be considered a personal attack or continued harassment. Gwib has left you alone after he was asked to and ended any harassment that may have been occurring. The talk pages where the disagreement took place serve as the history of the incident, thus your "account" is unnecessary. Seeing how the matter was dropped yesterday and we already have a way to see what conversations occurred through page history and archiving, the above only serves to enflame the situation and attack/harass Gwib. While you may feel entitled to apology, Gwib is not required to do so. All that matters is that the harassment ended. Please remove the above, or I will be forced to remove it and block you for incivility. This is non-negotiable. Thank you. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  17:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Talk pages

change

You cannot keep talking on other user's pages and then apologizing afterward and expect to not have any repercussions. Write on another talk page of a non-admin and there will be a consequence in the form of a block for 3 days. I hope this will help you remember the rule. And remember, the rule is in place because you have shown time and time again that you cannot interact positively with other users. I will suggest to you again to use your time here to work on articles, not to talk with others about non-article related issues. · Tygrrr... 23:32, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

From Tygrrr's talk page: Sorry again, and thanks guys. Tygrrr, if I do happen to make another mistake (which i'm trying REALLy hard not to, but its so easy to forget who not to talk to), then please don't block me as you said you would... its not that I would be doing it to purposefully break your rules, for as you are aware I have been trying not to, and I have come to you straight away every time I have accidentally spoken to a non-admin and then realised... so please don't block me if it happens again, because I promise you its not happening on purpose... IamR 14:20, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That is why there will be a block--to help you remember and to make you to be more careful. Maybe you need to print out a list of admins and keep it by your computer screen, I don't know. But I do know that you need to start following this rule. It is there for a very good reason. It is no longer okay to break it and then apologize after. Break it again and there will be a block. (Also, please reply here. It makes it easier to read our conversations. Thanks.) · Tygrrr... 14:32, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
But you're making it sound like i'm trying to break it on purpose! i am really trying not to... so I don't see what the point of blocking me even though I have good faith is... IamR 14:35, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
No. I mentioned nothing about your intention. Only that it continues to be broken. I have suggested something to help you remember and I am putting in place a block if you don't remember. You need to try harder or face the consequences of your actions. This restriction is here for the good of the wiki. This is the last I am going to say on this topic for now, so please stop arguing against it. For perhaps the dozenth time: Work on articles and this restriction won't even be an issue. Thank you. · Tygrrr... 14:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

BDD refs

change

A lot of the refs seem to be to the "Suicidality" study of Philips and Menard.

Unless you want to refer to individual pages every time you could make them all <refname>--Bärliner 17:13, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean? there's only one reference about that Oo IamR 17:16, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Numbers 4 and 7 Suicidality in Body Dysmorphic Disorder --Bärliner 17:20, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

4 and 7? I checked and they seem to be two different things from what I can see. One is a website, and the other is something else. IamR 17:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Complexity

change

If your still want to work at the BDD article now I suggest you concentrate on simplifying the language. "Prozac" instead of "fluoxetine hydrochloride" and a lot of other complex words and phrases.--Bärliner 21:02, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello I just wanted to thank-You for changing some stuff around on the simplewikiproject music pages page. so yeah, thanks! I.R 21:21, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome lol... and how did 'stuff' go? IamR 21:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

oh lol... what a shame, it coulve been useful in the music project. And yes its very grand. Wow, our signature's are in fact quite similar. What a coincidence. They've been becoming more and more alike... how strange... IamR 21:29, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Now that you come to mention it, i do realise. I've just been sortening mine to try and make it less big and stuff. I've also been trying to find an unusual colour, I'm quite happy with mine for the moment.

I.R 21:43, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes same, i think i might eventually abbrieviate the 'am' in my name to a dash or something... much easier :) IamR 21:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That would seem more convenient, but make sure it is your contribs. that you make as the dot or dash, because i always find that is the least important part of the signiture.:-) Have you seen the new member of the music project, he has been helping out alot with record companies and stuff, almost barnstar contibs. I.R 21:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes I may do that... and no i'll have a look now... PS, do you like my new colours? :p IamR 21:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stereotypes

change

What stereotype, pray tell? And I highly doubt that you know more than me about Europe in general than me. --Gwib -(talk)- 18:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The stereotype you mentioned that french people are just 'cheese-eating (imlying they are greedy)' 'french-only speaking (indicating they are stupid and cannot speak any other language)' and 'just skiing (meaning that they have nothing better to do).
Also Gwib, I know that I have more understanding about Europe:

I speak:

 • French... I was so good at french I got moved up a year in it at school... and won the french prize every year.
 • Spanish... I have won the spanish prize in my whole school of 1000 people.
 • Italian... I am doing an Italian GCSE (usually 5 years) in just 2 years.

Also, I am part English, French, Maltese, and Italian, and therefore, my heritage allows me great understanding of those cultures...

Not only that, but I have stayed for several weeks in most countries in Europe with my parents. And I have stayed on my own in France and Malta.

I have correspondance with many people from around Europe.

I was also accepted into a european language and culture college (although I did not accept it) when I was 12. To go to college, most people have to be 16. This means that by 16, I am more or less ready to study european culture at university level.

And what do you have? you lived in two countries and try to speak both languages?

I-R 18:55, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I highly suggest this conversation be ended immediately since it has no productive purpose. · Tygrrr... 19:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why is that Gwib Character saying stuff like "Pray tell"? Thats the kind of language that I use. maybe because I'm religious, I don't know. Don't even start talking about my religion, I just think that I have been a good influence on young and niave Gwib. No Insult Intended I.R 21:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Restriction

change

Ben, you are disappointing me. You are proving again and again that you cannot contribute here without causing disruption. Therefore, I feel you have left me no choice but to increase your restriction. There are now five kinds of pages you can edit here:

 1. your user page
 2. your talk page
 3. talk pages of administrators
 4. articles
 5. talk pages of articles

This restriction begins immediately. If you edit a page that is not one of these 5 types of pages, you will blocked for a week. Your disruption here is completely unacceptable. Your comments to other users that are basically personal attacks are also completely unacceptable. You refuse to listen to reason in "conversations" that end up being full-blown arguments. This is not acceptable. During times that you are active and talking with other users on various pages, editing of articles on the entire wiki becomes practically non-existant. You are doing more harm than good here. Therefore, I am hoping that by making it so you can only work on articles that you will stop disrupting this community. If this final drastic measure does not work in the long run, it will lead to you being blocked. You have been given more chances than many. I will repeat once and only once: This restriction begins immediately and is not negotiable. · Tygrrr... 18:59, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

(I am allowed to edit here right? Oo) And why don't you tell Gwib off too? I did no more than him. And I'm currently working on Prada... what do you think? OMG don't you just love Prada? Yah? Yah. Yahhh! :) i can just smell the leather... ;o well anyway, how long are these restrictions in place? I-R 19:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you understand your restrictions? I don't want you saying "but I didn't understand!" if you break them. A simple 'yes, I understand' or 'no, I do not' will do.
Gwib also feels that the 2 of you need to not interact for awhile. There should be no more problems between the 2 of you as long as you don't talk to each other. He has said that he has no plans to talk with you. I think you should do the same.
I'm glad to see you working on an article. Keep it up!
There is no deadline on the restrictions. I and the other administrators will use our best judgment to determine when it should be lifted. I hope it will not be long, but they will be in place as long as they are necesary.
(Don't forget to answer my question! :-) ) · Tygrrr... 19:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well I don't exactly understand, no, sorry... Which pages cant i edit? But also, you never properly explain what exactly it was that I was doing wrong... so I can never learn... so I don't actually know what it is that I have said to Gwib that made you put these restrictions on me. Can you explain it please? Oo And how long is 'not long'? you said that about the other restrictions... and i still have those :( .Also, that post on WP:AN, or wherever it was, about my school IP, you said it is resolved... but no its not... first of all, the name of the block hasnt been changed (which it definitely must), second, the block has not been reduced to a soft block (which I was trying to discuss, but was not yet definite)... and thirdly, someone just posted on there that EN wiki did not actually recognise that there my accounts had been hacked, but they in fact did, as they acknowledge the fact that I once asked a member there how to change my password due to someone logging on as me (and that was before all the main trouble started, so its not like I would have just gone up to someone and said that to pretend). Can you please do something about that? or let me post on just that thread? as they are spreading false info about me, and that's not nice. Oh, another thing... if you look at Gwib's talk page, you would perhaps like to take notice of the name he calls me... 'a pathetic waste of space'... yet apparently I am the one who has been mean to him??? I-R 19:55, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Try reading the restrictions again. There are five kinds of pages that you can edit. You cannot edit a page if it is not one of those kinds of pages. I'll break it down if you need:
Do you understand the restrictions now? · Tygrrr... 20:12, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
..... yes, but you didn't answer my other questions... ? I-R 20:17, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
What I know you did was to insult and attack another user. Do not reply "he attacked me" or anything similar. What may happen or has already happened to other users does not affect your position. You have the restrictions for what you did. Stick to them. Edit articles which are the reason for SEWP's existence. Tygrrr has now given you several helpful explanations, mine is blunt. Admins waste an inordinate amount of time explaining things to you, put I do not believe this is no necessary. --Bärliner 20:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
But I want to know the exact wording I used when I insulted them... otherwise how can i learn from my 'mistakes'? I-R 20:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I wanted to make sure you understand the restrictions first. That's the important part.
Your restrictions are not a direct result of the conversation with Gwib earlier today. They are because of almost constant disruption and arguing. Clearly my restrictions from before weren't solving the problem so I had to try something new.
About your block on en:wiki, I honestly don't care about the details. The discussion about it actually pretty pointless because talking about it doesn't change anything.
I wasn't involved in the IP block you're talking about. Creol is the one who made the block and he has said that he is not reducing it. That will stand.
And no. You are absolutely not allowed to contribute to the thread on the AN. It is not one of your 5 kinds of pages and besides, it would only lead to more bickering, which I am trying to prevent. · Tygrrr... 20:31, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, well firstly: Can you actually please list the things I have done wrong, so I can see them clearly... and Secondly:I would still like the naming of the block to be changed from 'IamAR and friends', as otherwise this suggests that I am the reason for the block. Is creol an admin? can I talk to her about it? I-R 20:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I fully support that, All three of us are mature enough to understand that there is a definate clash of personalities betwwen our, helful, fun, bouncy, flamboyant, intresting, scial, unique, and hard working personalities and his personality, which is apparently nothing like his.We just need to stay away from him - i tried telling him this morning that I forgave him, but he's obv not ready to accept responsibility for any of the issues that we have had, and I fully accept that some of the problem was my fault, but, God made us all different and we don't get on with everybody. We just have to accpt that and get back to our constructive editing and encyclopedicness. Didn't you support his RfA?

You're wrong; "mainspace" refers to articles, with no prefix; articles preficed by "wikipedia:" are referred to as the "project space". Blockinblox - talk 16:00, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • I'm sorry, but seeing that both of us have onoly been about 2/3 weeks, neither of us knew this, Benjamin has just emailed me, specifying that he had no clue that the archive was not mainspace. Sorry if this seems argumentative, but he honestly didn't know. If anybody wants a copy of the email, then I will I will send it to them personally on request. I.R 16:03, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Tygrrr specifically said "articles", not "mainspace". Further he was already told not to change the sense of discussions, which changing an archive certainly would. I only hope the often mentioned "my friend Joe" does not start causing disruption now. --Bärliner 16:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
He was warned and given a list of things that he could and couldn't edit. He stepped outside the boundaries and was blocked as a result of this. Blocks are not so much punishments as they are for giving you time to understand why you were blocked. Ben should take this time to view all pages he can't edit and maybe make a list of them to keep by his computer.
He could also have simply not edited an article, it was boarderline a personal attack, he removed a vote of something that has already been passed, he referred to me as "THE GWIB" and now he's probably wondering what he did to offend me and this wiki in general.
My advice to you is to let this matter go, tell him on monday not to use an IP addresses to extend his block (since that it all they will do) and to wait the week calmly and quietly. --Gwib -(talk)- 16:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
 • I am posting here because Ben has emailed me asking me to intervene. I have looked at the edit he made, and would have blocked him myself, if I were an administrator here. Not only did he violate his editing restriction, but the edit was useless, POINTY, and the edit summary was both uncivil and designed to provoke a reaction on the part of an editor he is in conflict with. I once humorously suggested that Ben was best suited to edit the Encyclopedia Dramatica; now I think that was probably the best advice I could have given. Until Ben and his friends realize that editing an encyclopedia is serious undertaking, they have no business being here at all. Jeffpw (talk) 16:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wow, is there really an Encyclopedia Dramatica? I think that would be just great for people to find other people who care about lots of drama, unlike us here. Blockinblox - talk 16:18, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unblocking

change

Hello Iamandrewrice/Ben,

I am currently reviewing if you should be unblocked. The general issue I see is this:

 • Many things are written as policy (must be followed) or guideline (should generally be followed).
 • Sometimes, there are behaviour patterns that most editors follow (that would classify them as guideline), but that are not written down.

Your editing an archived space is such a thing. Gwib has been made an admin. You now revising your opinion about him, based on what happened, has no influence on him having been promoted (in other words: No, we will not demote him). Archived spaces contain old contributions. They are there for reference, no one will actively edit them; it sometimes happens that contributors add articles to one; or rearrange archives, that should however not be a concern to you.

If you think that Gwib is not fit for his job/does a bad job, we should probably discuss this (Probably the Administrators noticeboard would be the place for that); The only admin who has been demoted that I know of is Netoholic; he is no longer active, afaik). In other words, unless you have proof that Gwib acted against policy, getting him demoted will be hard. (This is no reason for you being unblocked; Gwib won't run away)

Before I even go further, I would therefore like you to do two things:

 • Look through Wikipedia:Rules, look that you understand what is written there
 • Think about what you do, to avoid such things in the future.

So before I go any further, I want you to understand what we are talking about; I also want you to go through the page linked above; tell me when you have done that. --Eptalon (talk) 20:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I have looked through the rules just now, although obviously it is difficult to take the whole lot of it in at once, but i have got the general jist of it. I appologize for having edited an archived article, as I did not know this was not allowed. Sorry. In response to why I retracted my statement about Gwib, is because I have tried to make up with him (on his talk page), since we have not seen eye-to-eye lately. I hoped that we could both move forward, but after a long discussion, and then writing twice to him in french to try and make up (these were deleted), he told me that he didn't want to be wikifriends with me. I found this rude. That was the reason. I do not wish to 'demote' him, but after that statement that he made, I thought that it would be advisable to try not to get involved with him in case it caused further clashes, so I went and deleted my statement on the archive in order to remove the 'links' between us. I really did hope that he would accept that we could make up, and still hope that he will, but I am disappointed that he has taken such a disliking to me when all i really want to do is good. I am sorry if so far it has not seemed that way.
Next point. Someone mentioned how it was rude to call someone 'it'. Actually, that is not what I did, as when I do not know someone's gender, I always refer to them as 'he/she/it', because this is more politically correct. 'It' is a gender too by the way, as people who wish to remain androgynous, hermaphroditic, transgender-intermediated, etc are neither male or female. Therefore, I see nothing wrong with using the politically correct 'he/she/it' and will continue to use it. If you are telling me that you find the use of 'it' insulting, then you are saying that you show some kind of prejudice against inter-gendered people?
Next... in an email that I wrote to jeff (which is on the AN), jeff has concluded from it that I have sockpuppets here, because I said 'I am not the only manifestation'. However, this was misinterpreted, as what I meant by this was a simple buddhist principle. The principle means that everything in the world is just a projection of the mind, and that therefore, the 'manifestations' (the mind) means the good will, and how good will shall overcome all else (meaning that with the goodwill in my mind, and all the other good willed-people, I could overcome those who do not wish me to succeed). I did not mean this to imply that I have sockpuppets. By all means do a checkuser on me. I used to be a buddhist if you're wondering why I used the phrase (i'm not anymore, but if you look on my profile, it says how i am interested in reincarnation, karma, etc, which are all buddhist teachings that have still somewhat left an imprint on me... the reason i am telling you this is to prove that I am not just making things up as I go along).
Again, I am sorry for deleting my comment. I hope that you will unblock me sooner. The next articles I would like to work on are the Zodiac signs. :)
Thank you for reading. 89.241.198.214 (talk) 21:18, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
This is awfully similar to the EN Wiki debacle. One of the key reasons this user was not banned from this Wiki as soon as his disruption on EN was noticed was because of Jeffpw spoke out for him. It is because of Jeff that this user's ISP/school were not contacted immediately because of his massive (note: immediately. It could still happen). So now that Jeff himself backs a ban, the situation has clearly changed. Admins have already shown frustration over the "disruption then apology" method that has been used so many times already, isn't it time for this to end? --— Preceding unsigned comment added by MindTheGap (talkcontribs)
What is happening with my block? Oo I would just like to say, that some of you mention how I should have been banned for acting disruptively again... but I didn't actually act disruptively... all I did was delete a comment that I had made myself in the past that I thought I was allowed to do. And will everyone please stop telling me of for describing people as 'he/she/it', because 'it' is a politically correct gender too! 84.13.141.37 (talk) 20:45, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your unblock request was rejected MindTheGap (talk) 20:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
but then Eptalon stated after that that he was considering it. I don't understand what is going on. Some of you want to unblock me. Some of you dont want to change anything. Some of you want to extend my block. and some of you want to ban me. This is just lovely, when all i did was something that I thought I was allowed to. Thanks guys... this is real nice... really... ¬_¬

I suggest that you wait out your block and stop posting, you are just making the situation worse by dragging it out. Just wait out your block, you're really pushing it for yourself. I.Rosary 20:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"It" and the Golden Rule

change

Did it occur to you to give some consideration to whether or not other editors enjoy being referred to as 'it'? However sound your reasons may seem to you, I would not recommend going around in real life calling people around you "it", because it isn't acceptable in any social circles I am aware of. But if you do try it to someone's face, be prepared for confused, insulted, or far worse reactions. Arguing that you have decided it is more 'politically correct' or whatever, probably wouldn't help your case any at all. It is usually recognised as an insult from 4th grade on, when applied to persons - a not so veiled insult suggesting that the bearer is too grotesque to be recognizable as human. True, in the UK some people do call newborn human infants "it", but I think most Americans would find this disturbing - in fact, I bet there are some American mothers who would shout at you for an hour if you referred to their infant as an "it". So again, please be considerate of other editors, and above all, don't try to force everyone else to accommodate your own personal proposals for reforming the English language, which many would find to be extremely radical, and instead just stick to conventional usage of pronouns. Thank you. Blockinblox - talk 14:11, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I have had the terming explained to me by Jeffpw, and I now realise that androgynous people are not referred to as 'it', but as 'they'. I will therefore use 'he/she/they' from now on. Sorry, I honestly didn't mean it in an insulting way. I have used it on many many people here... tygrrr... barliner (i think)... but I never realised it could be deemed as insulting. However, I never in fact referred to anyone as just 'it'... it was always 'he/she/it', which I hope will be some evidence to you that I didn't mean the term to be insultive, but for what I thought to be pollitically correct. I appologize for the usage of the term, and to anyone who may have felt insulted by it, but i really do promise that the thought didn't even cross my mind that it was insulting, and I had the best politically correct intentions at heart while I was doing it. Thank you for further explaining it to me though. PS, when will I be able to reply on my talk page by actually signing in? I thought that blocked users were still allowed to do this. 89.240.68.155 (talk) 16:23, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

A mistake on your userpage?

change

On your user page you claim to have contributed a lot to the Electric Gardens article on EN Wiki. However, a quick check of the revision history shows that most edits were made by Pollypenhouse and Listsvery. Those users were subsequently banned as your socks. On [3] your apology over there, you claim Listsvery was Joe and Pollypenhouse was Alex. So either you had nothing to do with that article or, contrary to your earlier claims, you were in control of one or both of those accounts and they were not hacked as you continue to claim. MindTheGap (talk) 22:33, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Acutally MindTheGap, the person who contributed to 'Electric Gardens' on wikipedia was Alex. However, we both worked as a team, so I thought that it would be acceptable to count what we had done 'together' (as if you want the truth I actually taught him how to edit). However, if you disagree, please... give me your reasons... i'm sure I'd be oh so glad to here your reasons for further interrogations of me. Look, since you've made it perfectly clear you don't believe me about anything, I would appreciate it if you no longer contacted me, as every comment i receive from you is always either personal or irrelevant to editing. I have tried to be patient with you, but you really are being very inconsiderate. Benniguy talkchanges 22:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

But I thought that Alex hacked your account? How can you be working alongside someone who has hacked your account?

I.Rosary 22:41, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Joe, please do not leave such an unintelligent comment on my page again when you know exactly the reason why. Benniguy talkchanges 22:42, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I tend to agree with Benniguy on this. He is obviously trying to become a decent editor here now, and continuing to drag up his past on the English Wikipedia is not only assuming bad faith, but is bordering on harassment now. Please let sleeping dogs lie. If they wake up and turn out to be rabid, you can always shoot them later. Jeffpw (talk) 22:44, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's a horrible analogy! :( --Gwib -(talk)- 22:45, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and so IuseRosary is Joe, after all? Thanks for pointing that out, Benniguy. :-) Jeffpw (talk) 22:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay Jeff - but at least we now have confirmation that IuseRosary = Joe, who was one of those who apparently hacked his EN account. MindTheGap (talk) 22:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

In one of my favourite films, "To Kill a MockingBird" there is a rabid dog, it gets shot. It was quite a sad moment. I.Rosary 22:48, 19 January 2008 (UTC) Ps. I never hacked his account. I.Rosary 22:48, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, there is more than one Joe. This is not the one that hacked me. This one is Jose, the other one is Joe... just to clear things up. Benniguy talkchanges 22:49, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Restrictions reminder

change

Just to be clear, your restrictions are still in place until you are notified otherwise. To remind you, these are the types of pages you can edit:

 1. your user page
 2. your talk page
 3. talk pages of administrators
 4. articles
 5. talk pages of articles

Any pages marked "Wikipedia:" are not pages that you can edit. You received your last block for editing the Wikipedia:Requsts for Adminship archive page, remember? That was a mistake for 2 reasons: it was a "Wikipedia:" page (which is not allowed for you) and you were changing archives (which is not allowed for anyone). I noticed you were editing Wikipedia:Barnstars earlier. That is not an acceptable page. I am going to chalk it up to a week-long break from the restrictions, but you don't get a second chance. Violate the rules again and it was result in another block/ban. Please let me know whether or not you understand this.

On a positive note, it's good to see you editing articles again. I hope you'll continue to be non-diruptive. · Tygrrr... 13:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks. Oh, I didn't realise :S... so just to summarize... is it the pages with 'WP:...' in the name, and people's talk pages, that I am not allowed to edit? Benniguy talkchanges 13:54, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would summarize it as there are 5 types of pages you can edit--the ones listed above. Also, to let you know, I wrote the first message before seeing your message on my talk page but it seems I have answered all your questions. (Kind of like magic how I knew what you were going to ask, huh?) · Tygrrr... 14:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Omg are you being serious? that is like the weirdest coincidence ever! Wow!
lol
Yeah i know you summarized it above, but that didnt help last time, because I didn't understand how WP:BARN isn't an article? Benniguy talkchanges 14:04, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
You didn't understand why WP:BARN wasn't acceptable, but you should now after I've explained to you that no Wikipedia: pages are acceptable. Do you understand your restrictions, yes or no? · Tygrrr... 14:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am trying to understand. Don't get angry with me... i'm not being awkward on purpose... :S
But I don't understand the difference between WP:... and any other article Oo
Are there any other kinds of articles like this which i might think i'm allowed to edit, but i'm not?
Benniguy talkchanges 14:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ben, you're smart, right? Please don't act like you don't know what I'm saying. I don't really believe you could be having this much trouble understanding a very simple concept. And frankly, you are again wasting my time by making me say the same things over and over again. For the very last time (since it is virtually impossible to be any clearer than this):

Do you understand your restrictions, yes or no? · Tygrrr... 14:40, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think I understand it yes. But a couple of questions (sorry :S)... What is a 'wikipedia talk'? Oo and how come I cant edit a category page? i thought they were mainspace...

Thank you for explaining this to me Tygrrr, and I'm not trying to be purposefully difficult, but I was just scared that I was going to accidentally break more rules that I wasn't even aware of... Benniguy talkchanges 14:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You now have some examples of "Wikipedia talk:" pages. Category pages are in the category namespace. Do you understand fully now: yes or no? · Tygrrr... 14:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please answer my question. Do you understand your restrictions or not? · Tygrrr... 15:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I was trying to think about what you said. What 'examples' of Wikipedia talk pages? and what is namespace? Benniguy talkchanges 15:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

""Wikipedia:" talk pages = any page marked as "Wikipedia talk:", for example Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship, Wikipedia talk:Administrator noticeboard, and Wikipedia talk:Simple talk " You're wasting my time. I'm not going to ask again: do you understand your restrictions or not? · Tygrrr... 15:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stop getting angry with me every time i don't understand something! I will say yes...
But what is namespace?
Benniguy talkchanges 15:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Who said I'm angry? I'm simply trying to get you to answer a very simple question. Namespace is not really important to understanding your restrictions. What I've told you is enough for you to understand them. If you want to learn about namespace, I suggest you look around to find the answer. All that matters to me right now is that you understand your restrictions. You have taken up enough of my time this morning, so if you can't find the answer on your own, perhaps you can ask someone else. · Tygrrr... 15:23, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, honeybunch, if you mean your "timebomb" revert, it is possible it was not vandalism, but a well-meaning edit. Chinese characters come out as ???? when added to the Wikipedia. Just saying. :-P Jeffpw (talk) 22:15, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh... lmao... well it was the thought that counts ;P But saying 'in chinese it is called..."""...' isn't exactly relevant anyway, so i guess i half helped. hehe Benniguy talkchanges 22:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
True, you were right to revert it. I'm just pointing out that not all nonsense that enters the Wiki is actual vandalism. Some people actually think their changes are helpful, even when they're utter rubbish. :-D Jeffpw (talk) 22:31, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

What this Wikipedia is about

change

Hello, I know that this is perhaps a surprise to you; what I write here is something general about this project, not something about your editing here, or the restrictions placed on you here.

 1. In general, we try to make this Wikipedia better. We do this by making new articles, or by making existing articles better, or by reverting/preventing vandalism.
 2. We generally do not discuss things to death. This is called pragmatic approach.
 3. Much as there is a social aspect to this site, this is not our main focus.

Therefore, please focus on the things at hand. Thanks. --Eptalon (talk) 18:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

so... are you saying that what I am currently doing wrong is talking too much? If this is so, I can definitely stop that if you want. But don't ban me like everyone wants to on the AN. I am trying so so hard to get through this. I just wanted my school to be unblocked. Benniguy talkchanges 18:08, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
All I wanted to do with this is tell you what most of us are doing most of the time; I am (currently) not involved with the unblocking of your school, you'll have to talk to whoever blocked your school about that. --Eptalon (talk) 18:23, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am sorry, I will concentrate on articles more from now on, if you will give me the chance and not ban me? Benniguy talkchanges 18:25, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
At the moment I see no reason for blocking or banning you; other admins may be different, though. --Eptalon (talk) 18:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I will try hard to work on articles rather than talking. Benniguy talkchanges 18:29, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
You don't see a reason? Seriously? Also, to let you know, since you don't seem to be following the situation very closely, this promise has been made quite a few times before. He already knows he's supposed to focus on articles, not talk and argue. This has been explained to him countless times. And the disruption continues... · Tygrrr... 18:42, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That isn't what you told me before. You told me not to argue, which i havn't been. I try to see other points of view, like you told me to. You told me not to talk to non-admins, but this has meant that I have had to go to the admins about more things that i wouldnt have otherwise needed to. I am going to continue working on articles for tonight, to show that I really do want to help edit. Benniguy talkchanges 18:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you are indeed making another attempt, then maybe instead of leaving messages on admin's talk pages, you should start making articles again. Just a friendly suggestion...Razorflame 20:04, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inuse template

change

If there is an article that you are currently making major edits to, I would recommend you using the inuse template. This will make it so that other users know not to edit it, and reduces the number of edit conflicts you will get on a page. Razorflame 20:13, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks, I will try it in future. thank you for putting it on the Giorgio Armani page for me. I am going to try and make this a lot longer and better. Benniguy talkchanges 20:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Just thought that I should let you know about this. Razorflame 20:21, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Giorgio Armani (disambiguation)

change

I moved your disambiguation page that you created to the title above. This is better, I think. I also added the disambig template to mark it as a disambiguation. Disambiguation pages should not be given a stub template. Razorflame 20:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
