Welcome change

Hello! I noticed that you may have come here from another Wikipedia, so you know a little about how things work here. I hope you like it here and decide to stay! Here are some links to help you adjust:

There's a lot to do here. Most of it is writing articles that do not exist yet, which you can do by translating from other Wikipedias, but have a look around and see what you want to do. Thanks for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need any help. Mr Wiki Pro (talk) 19:07, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bienvenido a Simple English Wikipedia change

Hello, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. Thank you for the articles you have created here. It looks like you have translated articles from other Wikipedias, such as the Spanish Wikipedia. When you do that, there are some things you need to do:

  • Give credit to the Wikipedia that the article came from. This is very important because it is a legal requirement. You can read more about doing this at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Please go back to the articles you have already created and add attribution on their talk pages.
  • Make sure the English in the article is simple. The words should be simple words. The sentences should be short and simple. I simplified Chernóbil, la noche del fin del mundo and made the grammar better -- take a look at what I did there for some ideas.
  • If you are translating from a language other than English, be sure that the translation is in good English. It is actually more important to have correct English here than it is on English Wikipedia, because our readers have limited English ability. The article Tape 407 needs to have the English cleaned up quite a bit. Do you think you can do that, or do you need help with it?

If I can help you with this in the future, let me know. It's not easy to translate from one language to another. I studied Spanish for many years, as well as other languages, and I have experience with translating. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:55, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, my English level isn't perfect at all as i wish, but don't worry, when i get some time i will fix the articles and will take a look to the last one. Thanks. --Ravave (talk) 07:59, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I am going to move Tape 407 to your userspace for you to work on. You might like to work on future articles in userspace as well, to work on them until they are ready to be articles. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:12, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I made changes in the browserpage. Take a look and tell me what do you think this time. If you see any grammatic error be allowed to correct. --Ravave (talk) 09:31, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

The part before the heading isn't too bad. It needs some minor grammar fixes, but the main thing is that the first sentence needs to be shorter. We try for one idea in each sentence, but that sentence has three -- what the article is about (a movie), who directed it, and who wrote it. Try making separate sentences for those three things.
The section about the plot also needs the sentences to be shorter. It also just barely makes sense. How are you doing the translation? Are you using an automated translator or website, translating it yourself, or something else? If you try making shorter sentences, with one idea per sentence, that might make it easier to get the grammar right.
Some other general notes about ways we keep things simple here:
  • Instead of "External links", we use "Other websites"
  • We use the word "movie" instead of "film"
You might want to read Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages to get some ideas on how to write simple English here. There is also some information in out manual of style. Try fixing the things I mentioned above, and let me know what questions you have about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 10:21, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'd translated by myself. I get use the dictionary when i have a doubt, but never made autotrads. I guess i should change After has a great time in Christmas holidays in New York to After spending Christmas in.... Maybe needs another changes Airship for Aircraft cause i don't want repeat the word Plane two times.

The translation from Spanish means: Los supervivientes se encuentran en un área secreta del Gobierno y descubren que no están tan solos como creían. --Ravave (talk) 13:02, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

It would be OK to use the same word twice, because we want to use the simplest word for what we're trying to say.
I would translate that Spanish as "The survivors find themselves in a secret government area and discover that they are not as alone as they thought." If you want, you can take that as a starting point for simplifying. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:21, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Changes change

I'd be made changes in the article, you're right respect the gramma (long time ago i don't practise English): --Ravave (talk) 19:15, 11 March 2014 (UTC) (Sign here and i left you my notes)Reply

After has a great time... ->After spending...
Acording the dictionary Takes the plane (for example in Spanish Coger means Taken) so i don't see error but i deleted Must
Changed Fall down for Get crashed
Eliminated the However, also and does not alone as they believe was bad translated, so i changed by they are not alone how they thought.

I simplified the first sentence as an example. I mostly just divided it into separate sentences so that each sentence was about just one thing. How about if you try simplifying the rest? The first sentence about the plot needs a lot of simplifying, because it's quite long. After the sentences are shorter, it will be easier to get the grammar right. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:15, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I see, now i'm gonna for the plot. --Ravave (talk) 09:58, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

More short, impossible. Take a look. --Ravave (talk) 10:44, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks partner xD. --Ravave (talk) 17:52, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ravave, I'm sorry I haven't had time to get back to you, but the article still has issues and I have moved it back to your userspace. The grammar is bad, and it doesn't show notability. I don't have time to get into more detail right now, but please don't put the article back until I or another user helps you get it in better shape. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:49, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Again?... A plane get crushed into a government secret area, I don't see the error in the sentence. Perhaps i've should delete the plot section. --Ravave (talk) 21:22, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
No, you don't need to delete the plot section. Actually, I think you took out more than you needed to. When I talked about making the sentences shorter, I meant dividing them into shorter sentences, not necessarily removing parts of them.

I think you pretty much have the complex words taken care of, except for the term "found footage". That needs to be explained or reworded.

The issue with the grammar is that most of it is not really correct English. We have to use correct English so that our readers with limited English skills have the best chance to understand it. I can understand that that is hard for you, since English isn't your first language. I could fix some of it, but I'm not really sure what some of it is trying to say. If you can point me to where you're getting the plot information, I could look at that and figure out a way to say it simply.

Finally, I don't think this article meets the notability requirements for movies. If those aren't met, the article is likely to get deleted even if it is in good, simple language.

How would you like to proceed? --Auntof6 (talk) 07:50, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, i never seen the film until a day found the full movie by coincidence in YouTube and saw it (i haven't seen that movie in my life), so i get the information from it. Few days i'd made the article to Spanish language, but if you want the plot in this page are. --Ravave (talk) 08:13, 14 March 2014 (UTC) I hope the information will be usefull for youReply
I see the changes you made in the last couple of days. I'm afraid those changes didn't really help. The issue is still the grammar. I could fix it for you, but I don't know if that would help you learn to write better yourself. Do you plan to write more articles here? If so, it's more important that you are able to write good English yourself. What do you think? --Auntof6 (talk) 18:15, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Attribution for Chernóbil, la noche del fin del mundo change

Thanks for adding the {{translated page}} template to this article's talk page. Please be sure to add the specific version of the eswiki article that was translated. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:58, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your little page change

OK, here's a few points on User:Ravave/Tape 407:

  1. Why is the topic notable? It can't be a page at all unless it's notable. See WP:Notability. This is essential.
  2. Sources: main points need sources. See WP:Reliable sources. This is very important.
  3. Grammar should be correct: watch verbs especially. Important, but not quite so important as the other two.

In my opinion, you will need two kinds of reference book, one is a Spanish/English dictionary, the other an elementary textbook on English grammar. To some extent web facilities can substitute for these.

To write English is much harder than to speak English. Good luck! Macdonald-ross (talk) 12:18, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Cheste change

I just copy edited and simplified this article. Here are some comments based on what I saw in the article.

  • For numbers, our manual of style requires using commas to group digits, not periods. (We use a period for the decimal point.) See en:WP:NUMERAL for more information.
  • We have some standard headings that are to be used for certain things. I changed "Another websites" (which isn't correct English anyway) to "Other websites". See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#List of links at the end of an article for more information on this.
  • The "Other websites" section is for links to things that are related to the article subject. The Valencian Institute of Statistics is not related to the city, so I removed that link. If you want, you could write an article about the institute and include that link there.
  • When you give an external link where the text at the link isn't in English, use a template such as {{in lang|es}} to show what language it's in.

Let me know if you have questions about any of this. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:07, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

No, I don't have any questions. I make an article about geography because for this English level that theme is more easier to me, although sometimes I think with a "no more 1.000 words in the vocabulary" I feel like if had my hands tied. However, this one hope is better than the other one. I'd be mistake with the numeral, I'd forgot in English you use "," for the miles and the "." for decimals. In other languages is viceverse. --Ravave (talk) 10:59, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Answer: Se hace saber change

I'm sorry for not answering sooner. I'm fine, thanks. I will make time this weekend to look at your draft, and I will put comments on its talk page. Thanks for making it in your userspace. Did you translate it from another language? --Auntof6 (talk) 09:39, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Ravave: I just went to look at this for you, but I see that you changed it. I also see that articles have already been made for Se hace saber and Concha Piquer. So I'm not sure if you still want me to look at it. I do see that Se hace saber needs the grammar fixed. Do you want help with that, or do you want to take care of it yourself? --Auntof6 (talk) 06:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Mi querida España change

An editor has requested deletion of Mi querida España, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/Mi querida España and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Thanks for your message, i'm shoked. Maybe he didn't listen that song because isn't from his country, but in the mine, Spain is very known, and i don't know what have to see the Spanish Wikipedia its right the fact i translated the article from that language, and it was created two months ago, but the single has almost 40 years old. Well, i'm gonna try to explain him about this song. --Ravave (talk) 16:21, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ravave, I think part of the problem with the article is that the English is hard to understand. It's very difficult to translate into English if you don't speak English well yourself. I see that you worked on this article in a sandbox. It would have been better if you had gotten someone to look at it before you made the article. If I had seen it before the RfD was created, I would have moved it back to your userspace for more work. From now on, please get someone to check your articles before you put them in mainspace. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:50, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Gramma change

Ravave, you use the word gramma a lot, but I don't think it's the word you mean. I think you mean grammar, which means the rules about using language. Gramma is an informal word that means grandmother (abuela). --Auntof6 (talk) 19:27, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oops!, actually i wont to talk about my grammatic, thanks for make me see my mistake in that word. --Ravave (talk) 06:47, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Grammatic isn't a correct word, either. Just use grammar. By the way, when you respond to a talk page message, please respond on the same page where the original message was left. I have moved your reply back here so that the whole conversation is in one place. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:50, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK! --Ravave (talk) 06:51, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

The Love of Captain Brando change

Hi, Ravave. This article needed some work, so I moved it to your userspace for you to work on. It needs to be copy edited for grammar, and it needs to show notability (possibly by adding references). Let me know if you want more info about this. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:16, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6:: Thanks for your message. I will try to fix the article as better as I can. --Ravave (talk) 08:59, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: OK, I've made some changes and now it has references. Check it out and tell me any suggestions. --Ravave (talk) 17:13, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Good, it now shows notability, because you added the part about winning the award. The grammar still needs to be improved, and some simplifying is still needed. It partly reads like a direct translation (from Spanish, I assume), which doesn't give correct English grammar. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:52, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Respect the grammar, i'm affraid i made some mistakes. I'll try to fix it more later. I'm gonna check it out to see what should I do. --Ravave (talk) 07:46, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: The article itself isn't a translation from Spanish Wikipedia because is writen in other way, buy I must admit that my English is still far to be correct although i'm trying for improve it. I made a little change in the first paragraph. I hope the text be decent this time. --Ravave (talk) 16:58, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Moving Captain Brando change

Do you understand what you did wrong when you moved the Captain Brando article from userspace to mainspace? If you don't know the right way to do it, it's better to copy and paste the article instead so that it doesn't leave us so much to clean up. When you do use the move function, be sure to ask for quick deletion of the user pages using option "U1".

About the article specifically, I'd appreciate it if you get someone to review the grammar before you put any article in mainspace. I fixed the grammar in part of the article and simplified that part, but I removed the whole plot section because it didn't make sense. If you tell me where you got the plot information, I could look at it and see what it should say. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:36, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: I know how moving an article name to another one, it's just I didn't realised there was a drop down menu with the "User" option locked. By other hand, I left you a message where I told you I did some changes in the article, but you didn't answer me. --Ravave (talk) 09:57, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I hadn't answered you yet. People sometimes can't look at things right away. You have to give them some time. If you ask one person and they don't answer, ask another person. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:19, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: OK. I shall be write the plot another day in my sandbox. --Ravave (talk) 16:38, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

re:Susanna Griso change

I think you are not quite getting what we mean by notability. You have to show why the subject is worth having on the wiki.
  1. step 1: claim she is notable and why
  2. step 2: give evidence to support the claim. Sources should be independent of the subject, and reliable. For example, a claim that someone was a notable actor might need support from a professional theatre or film critic. Prizes are another form of evidence, but not all prizes are suitable. They need to be significant prizes.
When a page is deleted, the edit summary says why the deletion was done. That's what you have to fix.

Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:44, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Well, I know what Notability is, that's why she isn't a (Well... I don't know how to say in English, but in Spain we use to call Cualquiera to anybody who is useless or not important person). I just can say she works in a national TV channel (with an important share) and is a very known journalist, at least in Spain she is. She also have a professional career in other medias as radio. And regarding the sources, I think they're independents (maybe the 5th not because is from Antena 3, where she works currently), she hasn't nothing to see with journals as "El Mundo" or "El Economista" (references: 2nd and 1st). --Ravave (talk) 16:20, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) A review of the Spanish Wikipedia (es.wiki) article for Susanna Griso shows that the article is similar to the one in Ravave's userspace. It does appear that at least some of the subject's awards are considered notable enough in Spain that the awards have their own articles on es.wiki, but I'm not familiar enough with these awards and the standards on es.wiki to judge whether the awards are sufficient to establish notability on this project. Etamni | ✉   16:52, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @Etamni: If the awards are notable in another country, we should consider them to show notability. However, the article here didn't mention any awards. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:07, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: Of course it is. Go to section Awards and you will see, and the references says the same. --Ravave (talk) 18:12, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

That section was not in the article that was deleted. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:53, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Celtiberian Range change

Hello, Ravave. I had to delete the article Celtiberian Range that you created, because it was not properly translated from eswiki. It was a rough translation that not only wasn't simple enough for this wiki, but the English was hard to understand. I would have userfied it for you, but I saw that you already have a copy of it in your userspace.

When you translate articles from other Wikipedias, please have someone check them before you put them in userspace. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:23, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: My bad. I must to recognize this time I did abused a bit of the Wordreference.com . Don't worry, I will try to do it again in other way. Thanks. --Ravave (talk) 09:54, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
