Quick deletion of Library of Congress Control Number
changeThe page you wrote, Library of Congress Control Number, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. User:Rus793 (talk) 01:42, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your edits to this article. It has not been deleted. I have rewritten it to make sure it contains the basic information that an article needs to be kept. Articles which are only a sentence or two in length, are often deleted. This is not because the topic is unimportant, simply that there is not enough information to prove its importance. Any questions, please ask.--Peterdownunder (talk) 08:37, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Richard. The article Mabel Boll doesn't say why Ms. Boll was notable. Could you add something to show notability? Otherwise the article might get deleted. I was going to delete it myself, but most of your articles are very good so I thought you'd be able to take care of this. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 02:15, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
An editor has requested deletion of Edward Sims Van Zile, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/Edward Sims Van Zile and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Auntof6 (talk) 22:21, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
I marked the article patrolled after adding a source citation to prove claim of notability. The addition of dates not covered by the source citation broke text-source integrity. I separated the supreme court statement so as to match the source and statement. BTW, the source cited, p. 101, gave 1860 as a date of birth. I don't know the source of the dob and dod, so I couldn't say which is correct. I'm sure you can work that out. User:Rus793 (talk) 04:01, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry about breaking the text-source integrity, I will give it one more go though to make sure everything is referenced. I am still hoping that I can find his middle name and his full date of birth. If I can find him in the 1990 US census, I can at least have the month he was born in. State registration of births and deaths in Mississippi did not begin until November of 1912. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 17:03, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- I was moving quickly reading potential sources. I remember in one I skipped (for some reason) said his middle name was Horace. You might try a search with that middle name. The source citation that said 1860 also gave a place of birth. That might give you something to follow up on. The page is here User:Rus793 (talk) 17:40, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

October 2015
changeHello, Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Henry DeWitt Hamilton". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! Auntof6 (talk) 04:09, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make helpful changes to the encyclopedia. However, please do not attack other editors, as you did on Wikipedia:Simple talk. If you disagree with changes, please talk about the changes and not the editors who made them. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about changing Wikipedia. Thank you. I originally patrolled the article and seemed to have missed something. It turned up on my watchlist tonight and I clicked on the New York Times obit citation to see if it might lead to other sources. I was surprised to find it wasn't a link to the NYT, but to Find-a-Grave. If you're like me you just may have had two sources open at the same time and mistakenly copied the wrong url. I'll let you fix it with the correct url. As I'm sure you know Find-a-Grave is not considered a reliable source. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 01:05, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know the rule here, please point me to it. It is always best to provide a link to the rule book when you cite a rule. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:27, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- Basically it's user submitted information, no editorial controls and no reputation for accuracy. I don't have time to get the exact guideline (Notre Dame is playing). Also, I found this which you can use: https://books.google.com/books?id=HldMAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA393&dq=MRS.+J.Sargent+CRAM+OF+PEACE+HOUSE&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCoQ6AEwAmoVChMIxJL7gfTKyAIVTtpjCh3INwae#v=onepage&q=MRS.%20J.Sargent%20CRAM%20OF%20PEACE%20HOUSE&f=false Turns out she's a distant cousin so I have a possible COI. I'll let you cite the above source. User:Rus793 (talk) 02:07, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- I had one more thing to clear my watchlist so I could go—so close. It was your userpage. I'd recommend you remove 'Deleted or challenged by Auntof6'. Change it to Deleted or Challenged if you like but change it. User:Rus793 (talk) 02:13, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

- If you have European ancestry you are related to everyone else in Europe at about 10 generations, most people only know 4 generations, unless they do research. You can go to Geni.com and see how you are related to each president of the United States. Thanks for your additions, if you need me to look anything up in Ancestry.com let me know, I have a paid subscription, and one for Newspapers.com. I just added 200 missing birth dates to Wikidata from the WWI draft registration and the new Social Security applications that are now indexed. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 02:17, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- That seems about right. I understand the MRCA of all Europeans (except immigrants) lived only about 600 years ago. That would be about 10 generations or so. I belonged to Ancestry some time ago but grew away from it. At the time I was concentrating more on medieval genealogy. It might be more appropriate to continue any genealogy discussions via email. Thank you for the offers though. User:Rus793 (talk) 00:24, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Creating RfD requests
changeWhen you create an RfD request, as you did with Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/Lino Grech, be sure to add it to Wikipedia:Requests for deletion so that people will see it. It is also standard operating procedure to notify the creator of the page that it has been nominated (unlike the QD process). Thanks. By the way, if you were to use Twinkle to make RfD requests, it would take care of putting the notice on the page, creating the request page, adding the request to the RfD page, and notifying the page creator. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:05, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Politeness and civility
changeConsider this to be a warning. If you continue to make comments about other editors is negative and emotional tones, I will seriously have to consider taking further action.--Peterdownunder (talk) 07:22, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Your change to Eduardo Galeano
changeI have undone your change to this article because "best-known" is not a peacock term. It isn't one because it doesn't "promote the subject of an article" (quote from the relevant guideline). Non-notable people can be best known for something (helping their neighbors, reading a lot, etc.), so "best known" doesn't say anything about their notability. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:22, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
QD request for Nikolai Yut
changeHi Richard, you nominated an article on Nikolai Yut for a QD. It did not really meet the criteria for QD, so I have moved it to a Request for deletion instead. Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/Nikolai Yut. Your input into the discussion would be appreciated.--Peterdownunder (talk) 04:33, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Re Edward Sims Van Zile qd request
changeHi Richard, I saw you had requested the deletion of the article on Edward Sims Van Zile. As "primary author" you have no special rights over this page. Sometimes a page that has only been the work of one author can be deleted under certain circumstances; these are usually test pages. I will just remind you of the terms of use for editing Wikipedia, which are on every edit page, and by clicking on the save button, you have agreed to follow: "By clicking the "Save page" button, you agree to forever release your changes under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GNU Free Documentation License. You agree that a hyperlink or URL to this page is enough credit from people that reuse it. If you do not want your writing to be changed and shared then do not submit it here. If you did not write this yourself, it must be available under terms that comply with our Terms of Use." If you have any questions, please ask.--Peterdownunder (talk) 01:35, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Edit warring
changeIf you start reverting edits to articles, this can be seen as an "edit war". Wikipedia has very little tolerance of such behaviour, and this can often result in a user block. The article on Mabel Boll can not be deleted by you as some kind of "primary author". As mentioned in my last post, there has been more than one author, so it can only be deleted through other processes. Any questions, please ask.--Peterdownunder (talk) 01:40, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- In the English Wikipedia the primary author can request deletion. Making minor edits or adding a category does not transfer authorship, or transfer copyright, or every book published would have to share authorship credit with the book editor. Look this isn't working out well, when I create an article it gets deleted, when I want to delete it, you restore it. Lets part amicably. The articles were not welcome, and have already been deleted once, so let let me delete them. The only difference is that Auntof6 is not requesting the deletion. If she was making the request, they would already have been deleted. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:49, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Richard, I can understand a level of frustration when within a week we seem to be trying to delete your articles, and then stopping you from doing what we trying to do. However, we have our processes and they have worked pretty well for the seven years I have been involved. If you wish to part, then it is certainly amicable. You have raised a very interesting question with the notability for me, and that is notability is not superlative, and this is something that needs to be more clearly clarified.--Peterdownunder (talk) 07:54, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Orphaned template
changeHello. I noticed you removed a orphaned template from Stephen Guernsey Cook Ensko. The page is still orphaned, so I reverted your change. Please don't remove templates like this from articles unless they are no longer needed. Thanks, To Exist Or Not | talk 16:27, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
