WikiProject Weather
changeThank you for creating WikiProject Weather! Would you like me to add this to WP:WikiProject? InfernoGaming46 (IG46) (talk / changes) 19:36, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- For sure! I'm use to WikiProjects on the normal English Wikipedia, but searching was bugged I guess because it never pulled up the WP:WikiProjects tab. Could the page be moved under a WikiProject page? Elijahandskip (talk) 19:38, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Here on simplewiki we have WikiProjects on userspaces. I was going to add your WikiProject to the list on WP:Wikiproject. InfernoGaming46 (IG46) (talk / changes) 19:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'd also like to inquire about the name and scope of the WikiProject. It is named Project Weather but from what it says now it only covers tornadoes. Will this be expanded in the future or should it be renamed to WikiProject Tornadoes? InfernoGaming46 (IG46) (talk / changes) 19:43, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes it will. I only had time to go through and list all the tornado articles for the present time, but later today, I'll go through the tropical cyclone lists and add them to it as well. Elijahandskip (talk) 19:59, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll go ahead and add it to the list at WP:WikiProject. InfernoGaming46 (IG46) (talk / changes) 20:00, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

changeHello, WeatherWriter! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Related pages" instead of English Wikipedia's "See also", which you used in "Battle of Re'im". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Related pages" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 23:37, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- @MathXplore@MathXplore
- Why the difference?
- Partly just curious, but also having a story to it will help me remember.
- Irtapil (talk) 15:32, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Irtapil, At Simple Wikipedia, we prefer "Related pages" over "See also" since it's simpler; We don't usually use those complex English Wikipedia terms here. Similarly, we use "Other websites" instead of "External links" to keep things easy to understand. – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 15:43, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Cyber.Eyes.2005 are there any other headings? Irtapil (talk) 06:51, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

changeHello, WeatherWriter! Here at Simple English Wikipedia, we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in pages that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 14:04, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @MathXplore@MathXplore
- That one makes sense, but it might be hard to remember.
- Are any other sections different? (most of the articles I've seen here are stubs)
- Is there a template of standard sections somewhere?

Quick deletion of Arleigh Burke-class destroyer
changeThe page you wrote, Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. Mastashat (talk) 02:49, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Creating Talk pages
changeHello and welcome to Simple Wikipedia, WeatherWriter! I noticed that you created several talk pages just to add a talk header {{talk page}}. Here at Simple English Wikipedia, we don't do that. You don't have to create talk pages only to place a talk header. Please see WP:TALK#CREATE. Thanks, and happy editing! :) – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 16:18, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
Complexity
changeRed Sea Crisis is far to complex. For example, look at this sentence, "The conflict began on 19 October 2023, when Yemen's Houthi movement, a group backed by Iran, initiated a series of attacks, targeting Southern Israel and the ships in the Red Sea it claimed were linked to Israel." Note how many phrases and clauses there are. We use simple subject verb object sentences here. Also, throughout the article, note complex vocabulary where simple words would do; initiate--start, amid--during. Remove passives and use active verb forms. It is good to cover all of these events, but the language should be simple. Thanks, --Gotanda (talk) 00:32, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Gotanda: I just worked to remove some of the complexity words. Can you do a re-assessment on the article? Thanks, WeatherWriter (talk) 01:21, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- To be honest, I stopped at the first sentence. Look at it and break down the sentence. Try simple, subject verb object sentences. Try not to use phrases and relative clauses, especially in combination. --Gotanda (talk) 06:23, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- How? Do I need to make that lead like 10 sentences? I guess I will since a simplistic sentence apparently is still to complex. One moment. WeatherWriter (talk) 06:25, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. I just broke the lead into a ton of small sentences. If you would be willing to help work with me, I would really appreciate if you could take a look at it again. WeatherWriter (talk) 06:29, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Simple sentences are better. Thanks. It would be a good idea to revisit your earlier articles and do likewise. It takes time to write simply. But, it can be a good writing practice. It is the point of this wiki. Readers can always find out more on EnWP if they want complex writing. --Gotanda (talk) 22:06, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

Topics

Or is it independent?

Irtapil (talk) 12:04, 30 January 2024 (UTC) Irtapil (talk) 12:04, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Copy and paste would work. But, some of the templates (user boxes) may not actually copy/paste, if they have not been created over here. Your user page is fairly long, so a lot of the stuff may not actually “copy” over (i.e. not exist yet here). WeatherWriter (talk) 14:00, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- @WeatherWriter Not so much for my profile, that's just a mess of me playing, I meant all my drafts and notes. Like the alt version of list of engagements. Which if I ever bother putting it here will be "events"... But events in what? English Wikipedia's name warpedtty, but Arabic and Hebrew wiki are both unusual. Certain templates
changeHi. Only check users can use the confirmed template. Please do not put these on yourself. We also do not use suspected accounts either, especially to the en wiki. Everyone gets a chance on simple. If you suspect an editor is evading their block you can post at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 16:58, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Noted! I won’t do templates like that again. Also, PotsdamLamb, LTAs technically do not have a chance on simple. They gave that right up after earning global locks on multiple accounts due to cross-wiki death threats towards admins and users. Everyone else obviously has a unique chance, but an LTA, respectfully, gave up that right. WeatherWriter (talk) 17:02, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Understood but that is up to the admins and sysops to decide, not the editors. If it’s a known lta, again, post the request and what account here on simple they used that got blocked. They can be globally locked but that doesn’t mean they can’t edit. My main account is globally locked because I lost my password to it. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 17:06, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Wait what? Global locking doesn’t actually mean they are blocked from editing? The F? So you are telling me that idiot can troll and vandalize on Simple English (obviously getting eventually blocked here) despite doing cross-Wiki death threats? That is actually very dumb and should probably be explained to editors better. Global lock sounds like globally locked, but you just explained that it means absolutely nothing. Bruh. Good to note though that when an administrator over on EN-wiki does a global lock, that means diddly-squat. Well, I’ll be reporting that LTA further if they edit here again. WeatherWriter (talk) 17:09, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- That’s not what I’m saying. I said sometimes it’s not because of that. It’s done for security reasons. You can report them as much as you want. Stewards can do global locks, admins cannot. They have to ask a steward to do it. Read Wikipedia:ONESTRIKE to get a better understanding of what I mean. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 17:16, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

Wikidata
changeHey, this article Jawad El Yamiq is linked wrongly on Wikidata. I'm not able to move it to the correct one so can you do that and tell me how to do?

- (talk page stalker) I've now linked it to the correct item. If you mistakenly link a page to the wrong item, you'll need to manually go to Wikidata to make the change, or you could simply leave a message on my talk page. :) – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 13:06, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

February 2024
changeWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make changes here. But pages should not be moved, like you did to 16 January 2024 missile strikes against Houthi, without a good reason. They need to have a name that is accurate and simple, and that people will recognize. Wikipedia has some guidelines to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if users are talking about moving a page, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you have a question about this, please ask on Simple talk. Thank you. No consensus has been reached as it is still being discussed. Please revert all of your changes and wait until concensus is reached. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 03:22, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Place holding. WeatherWriter (talk) 18:16, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Your changes are causing disruption to the project and this is not acceptable. Please stop. If your disruption continues, you will be blocked from changing Wikipedia. You are becoming disruptive on this project. Whenever an editor points out that you are incorrect in your statement you unequivocally and immediately make an attack towards the editor. You have already made many errors especially against consensus which when pointed out you went off the rails. This needs to stop now or you will be blocked. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:34, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- What the hell did I do? I pointed out how you are nit-picking a comment, despite seeing the correlation and what was being implied. If you cannot see that, then there is a chance you shouldn't be editing topics surrounding the Red Sea crisis. I am just being honest. WeatherWriter (talk) 23:36, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- This is for the entire attitude and all comments you have made since the beginning. It’s not about “nitpicking” anything. It’s about your behavior and your actions on all of these articles and discussions. I will not comment further on this as it is very self evident in your edits and the fact that were presented by not just myself but others. You have been given advice by numerous long standing editors and you fight it every step of the way. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:39, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Also that comment was struck, so drop the topic and I will as well. WeatherWriter (talk) 23:36, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- It does not matter now even another editor has pointed out your disruption to this project. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:41, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Support the merges or say you don't. We have 3 editors in support for the merges and you have yet to actually say "yes, I support" or "No, I do not support". Myself and another editor just straight up pointed out how the discussion is a mess. Most of that was because YOU reverted all the merges and forced the chaos discussion. So figure it out. Chaos discussion or merges. The choice seems to be soley up to you right now. WeatherWriter (talk) 23:44, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- See the talk page comment I will be posting in a moment. Reread WP:Consensus. As previously pointed out to you and numerous times it must run a minimum of five days and the suggestions all go to different places. We are only on day three of the discussions. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:53, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Fives days per who? "Five days" does not exist on the article. I will read the comment when you post it, but I need solid proof that five days is the minimum. Otherwise, I will personally interpret it as delaying a unanimous consensus for merges. WeatherWriter (talk) 23:55, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry I used the wrong one as consensus and merge work hand in hand. Here is the policy where it states “If you are not sure if merging is right, you should propose it on the pages in question. After enough time has gone by to talk about it (at least 5 days), you may do the merger, or ask someone else to.” Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:34, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Also stop making personal attacks towards me. This is now the 3rd time you have made baseless accusations against me. I will no longer tolerate this. It is extremely prohibited on this and any other wiki. If you want to know about a policy there are better ways to ask about it. Example, I don’t see where it says 5 days in that policy, do you know where you got that from? Any further personal attacks on me will result in me getting an admin involved. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:38, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Understood. Also, do not nit-pick comments if the meaning is still understood as that is one way to start arguments and debates. Example was "Operation Poseidon Archer", which was explained multiple times to be the direct correlating article to 20+ articles in another language. That nit-picking, i.e. saying that article doesn't exist in other languages, was extremely frustrating, since you clearly understand the correlation between the articles. Just please, don't nit-pick comments like that. WeatherWriter (talk) 00:41, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- It is not being nit picking. We are not mind readers. If you post something online you need to be exact in what you post. You posted that exact title was on en wiki and in 20+ languages. It was not. That was the point. Had you said it was War on Yemen or War on Gaza or War on the Red Sea and had so and so 30+ translations that would have been completely different. However, personal attacks are never ever acceptable. Perhaps, not knowing where you are from, in America we have a saying “sit back and take a breath.” That basically means before you continue take a moment to collect your thoughts and think about your next action. A well thought out plan is better than non and a non-plan can result in being banned from here when it comes to attacking an editor. We are all here to build the encyclopedia and I’m one of the long term contributors (minus a one year block for attacking other editors). So trust me on the fact I know what I’m doing and saying. I’ve been there but I’m also very familiar with how this wiki works. A now bc and I started together a few years ago and had it not been for what I did I would be there with them. So take this as you will (it’s intended to be friendly advice) but when multiple editors tell you that you are wrong as we have been then stop breath and take that moment to evaluate everything before you respond. It is clearly evident you are passionate about this topic. I edit in all topics using only facts. I do a lot of back end work as well. Don’t let your emotions get involved. So as far as I’m concerned this can be dropped but any personal attack on any editor will be reported. Only comment on the content not the editor is the rule. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:55, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

- To more on this so I address everything you seeming want to be pointy about, in WP:Consensus it states under the heading What consensus is not “Unanimous decisions, or when everyone agrees. There will be times when some people do not agree. Everyone's beliefs should be discussed, but there still may be some people who will not compromise. This does not mean that there is no consensus.” To that point, (which this is also a policy), is not everything was decided on the second day when you decided to merge articles from discussion which had nothing to do with that particular merge as it’s a different merge proposal all together and is also being discussed. Therefore it also falls under the same policies Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:43, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Duration of battles in Israel
changeSorry, managing to get myself blocked here thwarted my attempts to get much started, and I am a bit nervous to try again now. But I just found this:

Fighting in the kibbutzim themselves was going for several days, that document has one specific example near the end of page 17. I'm trying to do about a dozen things at once and getting nowhere on any of them.
