July 2014 change
Hello, Alicezeppelin! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Kreuztal". After I started adding source citations I noticed the information in Bossa Nova Baby was the same as that from a copyrighted source. To avoid legal difficulties Wikipedia does not allow anything taken directly from a copyrighted source. Instead of nominating the article for a quick deletion, I paraphrased the information so as to avoid copyright infringement. Please do not copy anything directly from copyrighted sources. See the policy at Wikipedia:Copyrights. Next time, look up sources to find out information for the article, then explain it in your own words. You can cite the source for the information. Hello! Thank you for creating Category:CAF competitions for national teams. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. Making the article as simple as possible change
(continuing discussion started on Talk:Monk (TV series)). You said:
When making the article, I tried my best to make it simple. I still believe it is simpler than the Wikipedia English version. I honestly don't think it can get any simpler. So could whoever put up the supposed issue of the article being "not simple enough," could you remove it? I believe you made an error.
I'm certain you did simplify it the best you could. You can see a good effort was made. But did you have all the tools at hand to do this? Also keep in mind, the tag was not aimed at you, the original editor. It's there for any editor to step in and help edit this article. But let's say you'd like to learn more about simplifying articles. In the welcome message above are several articles to help you. The article 'How to write Simple English pages' (linked above) explains much of this. Our intended readers are those new to the English language, younger readers, and those whose might have learning disabilities. As much as possible we try to use Simple English words where we can. For example, this sentence from the lead of the article: The last episode broke a record for the "most-watched scripted drama episode in cable television history." Eight of the eighteen words are not in Simple English. Ask yourself if this could be explained differently, possibly using more words, but in a simpler fashion. We can link several words and terms to other Simple English articles and nouns can be linked to Simple English Wiktionary. At the same time we don't want the reader to have to look up every word or every other word to understand the article. That wears a reader out very quickly (remember, the reason anyone writes anything is to be read). The choice with this sentence is either to link the complex words or to select a different sentence without a quote. Keep the reader in mind when you choose. The fact that there is a statement is in quotes means you shouldn't reword that part, but you can add links to make it easier to read.
Converting many complex and compound sentences to simple sentences is important, but it isn't the whole task of simplifying. I fully understand that articles with a lot of terms or names in them are more difficult to simplify. They are for me and I assume they are for most editors. But there are a lot of tools available to help you that you may not be aware of. One is In Simple English, an online utility to help convert sentences or paragraphs to Simple English. You need to set the list of words to "Ogden's Basic English + 350 words" (in the list box), then copy your text into the window and convert it. It's not perfect, as many of the highlighted words are connected to our Wiktionary and we can only use nouns from that source. But you can substitute links to other articles. There is no one way to simplify, we're just asked to do the best we can. The idea is simple sentence structure, simple English words, and simple concepts. The tag can be removed when an editor believes the article is sufficiently simplified. You can remove it, I can remove it. It's there so other editors who can simplify this more will see there is a problem. Do what you can to simplify this more if you like. But we should never remove a tag until the problem is cleared. So anyways, I am having issues translating some parts of the article into Simple English. Like you stated before, the second sentence of the article isn't simple. However I honestly can't think of anyways on making it simpler. Maybe I'm thinking that I should make it too simple, I don't know. - Again there are two ways. One is to replace the sentence. This is what I did and wikified words not in Simple English. I added a source citation and upgraded the bare url citation that was in the article. The section Storyline needed work. Please feel free to continue and add your own improvements. But this is a good enough start that you can remove the complex tag when you're ready. Keep in mind every sentence does not need to be a simple sentence and every word does not need to be in Simple English. One of our goals here is to teach readers new words using links and showing how they are used in a sentence. Read over the article, then look at the code to see what was done. I hope this helps. - (talk page stalker) I beg to differ. We do not have a goal of teaching new words or how to use them. Our goal is to use simple language so that people with limited English skills can understand the articles here. It's good if our readers learn English along the way, but we have to remember all the readers, including the ones who haven't learned the new things yet.
- Also, where did you get the idea that Wiktionary links should only be to nouns? I don't think that's true. I do think that links to Wiktionary should be avoided where possible because it makes the reader have to go somewhere else. It's much better to use simpler words to begin with or explain the term right in the article. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:14, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

I can find more if you like.
- (under the section Wikilinking) "Generally, verbs and adjectives should not be linked, since most encyclopedia articles are about nouns." Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Also I was told to link only nouns from sewikt by an admin at least a year ago. If this doesn't answer your questions perhaps it would be more appropriate to take this to one of our talk pages. Attribution change
One additional thing, all articles copied from another wiki need attribution (saying where it came from and crediting the original authors). This needs to be done, even for derivative works (pages that have since been simplified, wikified, etc.) The instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. I did this for you on this article. See the banner on the Talk:Monk (TV series) page. You can follow up and place an attribution template on all transwikied articles in the future. It's pretty simple, really, and it only takes about a minute. But, it satisfies a legal requirement and prevents a new article from be nominated for Quick Deletion as a copyright violation because it has no attribution. Let me know if you have any questions. New categories need at least three entries change
As mentioned above, new categories should have at least three entries in them. This is explained at Wikipedia:Categories#Is there a need for the new category?. Three categories you recently created (Category:1970s fashion, Category:1980s fashion, and Category:1990s fashion) did not have enough entries in them, so they have been deleted.
Also be aware that we don't need to have the same categories as English Wikipedia (enwiki). Sometimes the better action is to remove categories when bringing articles here from enwiki. We keep our categories simpler here, and we don't need and don't want as much detail as they use at enwiki. Football articles change
Hi, Alicezeppelin. Generally, when I go to new page patrol, what you do is fine, and I don't have a problem marking your new pages as "patrolled". But sometimes, I'd like you to stop adding pages, and go back and maintain some of the pages you've started already. Two examples:
- 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup: Tournament is now over. Go back and fill in the details. (I did some for you, but I'm not that big a football fan, and I'm just not that interested.) You can copy a lot of the details from English Wikipedia version of the page, too.
- France women's national football team: Add {{Infobox national football team}} to it.

Unused templates change
Hi, Alice. I see you've been busy creating pages about various football-related things. I noticed that you created several templates for displaying sports brackets (if that's the right way to say it -- I don't know much about those). Some of the templates are not being used, including these:

- Alice, the RfD did not have a clear consensus to delete, but we had discussed a redirect to the Sprinter article. I went ahead and created the redirect. Keep in mind this does not have to be permanent. If you can find source citations, more information and the article establishes notability, it can be brought back from the history in the article. I was going to redirect the album for a couple of reasons. It does not seem to claim notability (see Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Albums.2C_singles_and_songs "Album articles with little more than a track listing should be merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting." Also, a community consensus was reached regarding albums of this type. While a number of editors know about this, it is not as easy to find so you might want to bookmark it: Wikipedia:Simple_talk/Archive_111#Our recent spate of new album stubs: a proposal. I wanted to bring both to your attention. If the article is notable and can be made to claim and show notability (see: Help:Notability) it should be OK. The enwiki article does have some information and sources in the 'Reception' section. One of the better ways to show notability is to show how the album charted on Billboard. I checked http://www.billboard.com/artist/279575/slayer/chart and it wasn't listed among the nine Slayer albums that charted. But the page is a good source if you are working on any of their other albums that did chart. I also checked http://www.billboard.com/artist/279575/slayer/biography and there might be something there you could use. I mention this to see what you'd like to do with the article. "Minor" change checkbox change
Hi Alicezeppelin! I see you've been busy this evening updating information related to the Super-Tuesday voting! Your efforts are much appreciated, especially on this small wiki. I do want to remind you that you should only use the "minor edit" checkbox when you are making changes that do not change the content of an article. Fixing vandalism, correcting spelling and punctuation, etc. are all "minor" edits, but changing even one word of an article to mean something different is not considered to be a "minor" edit. Naturally, updates to a breaking news story (such as vote percentages) would probably not be considered "minor" by most editors, accordingly, the checkbox should not be marked for those. Attribution change
Hi again. I noticed you created a page for Heidi Cruz. I really cannot believe we didn't already have it, but apparently not. Thanks for fixing that oversight! Anyway, I noticed that many of the sources show that they were accessed back in October, so I'm guessing you may have copied portions of the article from EnWiki (which has the same access date on many of its sources). If so, please provide proper attribution on the Heidi Cruz talk page. You can find instructions for that at Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia. Personally, I like to use the based on template, but there are several alternatives that are equally appropriate. Remember, proper attribution is required when copying from other sources to prevent the copy from being a copyright violation. This applies even when copying from another part of Wikipedia. Crater stub template change
Hi, Alice. I deleted this template for you. Isn't it annoying when you create something by accident? :) The way to delete things like this, if you have created it and no one else has changed it yet, is to use the G7 quick delete option. If you use Twinkle, it's one of the quick delete options. If you don't use Twinkle, you can just put {{QD|G7}} at the top of the page, and it will show up under quick deletion requests. - Thanks for the tip Auntof6! I was also wondering how one would change the name of an article. For example, I noticed that the Libertarian Party of the United States page is just called Libertarian Party. There are many Libertarian parties across the world, and I think it would be better to name it Libertarian Party (United States), or just Libertarian Party of the United States. - The way to rename an article is to move it. I agree that the article you mention should be moved to include the name of the country. (Then the current page could be turned into a dab page.) As for the exact name, I would make it match the name on enwiki, which is "Libertarian Party (United States)". We don't have to make our article names the same, but if someone copies an article here from enwiki and that article mentions the party, then the link will be right. You could also make a redirect from the other name (Libertarian Party of the United States). I will leave it to you to move the article so that you can see how it works, but let me know if you have any trouble with it. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:57, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Queens consort of Jordan change
Hi, Alice. I noticed that you created the redirect Queen consorts of Jordan. You might not have known, but the correct plural of "queen consort" is "queens consort" -- you pluralize "queen" but not "consort". Maltese language user templates and categories change
Hi, Alice. I noticed that you created several user language templates for Maltese language speakers, along with one of the related categories. However, it looks like no one is using any of these templates. Do you know if anyone is planning to use them? We usually don't want to create templates that aren't going to be used. 2016 Presidential election change
You might want to hold off to changes such as the one you made to Republican Party (United States). Despite the news media hoopla, Donald Trump is unofficially the president-elect, not the president—not yet. On December 19, 2016, the Electoral College meets and casts their votes. On January 6, 2017, the results of the Electoral College are counted in a joint session of Congress and at that time the President of the Senate officially declares who the new President (and Vice President) will be. On January 20, 2017 the president-elect takes the oath of office and becomes the President. In the meantime, recounts, challenges, unforeseen events, etc. might change the outcome. Just saying...
