Hurricane Vince (2005)

Hi Pmlineditor, just a courtesy note to let you know that I have closed your VGA nomination of Hurricane Vince (2005) as successful - congratulations! If you could now take the time to check over the article's stub and check that it is all in order it would be much appreciated. Once again, congratulations, keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more! Regards, Goblin 01:08, 12 April 2010 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton!Reply

Thanks for promoting the article! I look forward to writing more (V)GAs as well. Cheers, Pmlineditor  15:45, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

For being such a kind, attentive, and tender adopter, and adding some spice to Wikipedia with your wit and cheerfulness! I heard you wanted a barnstar "just for the lulz", so here it is. ;p Yours sincerely, Belinda 07:47, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stub Cup notice

  Stub Cup
Hi and thanks for taking part in the Stub Cup! Here are a few things you need to know before we start:
  • The Cup starts on May 1st 00:00 UTC and ends on June 30th 23:59 UTC.
  • The stubs you expand must have been created before May 1st 00:00 UTC.

The scoring system works as follows:

  • If you get a stub to a Regular Article, you will get 1 point.
    • For an article of 1500 to 2199 bytes of text you get 1 point.
    • From 2200 bytes of text and for every additional 700 bytes of text you get 1 extra point.
    • If the portion you add is unreferenced, you only get half the points it is worth.
  • If you get a stub promoted to Good Article status, you will get 25 extra points.
  • If you get a stub promoted to Very Good Article status, you will get 50 extra points.

Regards, Pmlineditor  17:12, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Only warnings

Hey, since I'm not a computer with Firefox (and thus unable to use Twinkle), I'm typing out all vandal warnings myself. I'm having a brain freeze - what's the code for an only warning? Thanks, Kansan (talk) 16:10, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Should be {{uw-vandalism4im}}. Cheers, Pmlineditor  16:11, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thanks. Kansan (talk) 16:13, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Incomplete hook

It appears that an incomplete hook for Portuguese Man o' War has ended up on the front page. It was somehow like that already from the DYK suggestions; I wonder if the rest got lost somewhere? Kansan (talk) 16:03, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The hook looks okay to me, it was copied without a (?) sign which I have now added. Does that fix the problem? :/ Pmlineditor  16:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Looking at the article, the hook seems to be simplifying the term "zooid", and that article goes on to define it as a "small individual animal", so I'm guessing that the word "animal" may have been intended to come after "individual" in the hook. Kansan (talk) 16:37, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've been bold and added it. Hope it looks fine now. In any case, this hook should have been further sighted before going to the main page (failure on my part). Pmlineditor  16:39, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Commander's Choice

The Commanders' Choice. For every edition, Yottie or Pmlineditor will be chosing articles that need creating, expanding or being attended to. Here is this edition's list:

Simple News

I thought that I put my name under the "collapsable box" section. PiRSquared17 23:02, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I know. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the code for the collapsible box, and hence I delivered the normal edition to everyone. Pmlineditor  07:39, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your work with Simple News, btw. Much appreciated. :) {{Sonia|talk|en}} 07:42, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Touch & move

Re chess, I'm somewhat embarrassed to find we missed the 'touch and move' rule, so have added it. If you get the time to cruise through, do have a look at it. Macdonald-ross (talk) 05:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, will do by this week. Pmlineditor  08:29, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Graduation

Hello, dearest and most respected adopter Pmlineditor! :) I was just wondering if you could "graduate" me from adoption. I am thinking about adopting PiRSquared17 (talk · contribs) because of this, and although I will still ask you questions and seek your advice when necessary, I believe I wouldn't be able to adopt PiR if I am adopted myself :p. I know I would never regret once being your adoptee though, and I assure you I would never forget your grace and kindness either. You've always been such a great help to me!! I would, of course, still pester you sometimes with my annoying questions, ;) so please do not be concerned. Yours sincerely, respectfully, and humbly, Belle tête-à-tête 04:34, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, the adoption thing is more or less over, but the point is, in my opinion, you aren't experienced enough to adopt PiR. That's my opinion, but of course, you can ask others for their say. Cheers, Pmlineditor  15:34, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you are right, PM.... I asked Jamesofur on IRC and he said it was ok. If I have problems while adopting PiR, I'll ask Clementina or you though. :) Thank you! Warmly, Belle tête-à-tête 00:34, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

So fast!

You moved the excellent Geyser hook so fast!! But on a second reading I think the article does need simplifying. I won't be able to get to it for a while, but you might try & get someone to do a job on it. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:44, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll do my best to try working on it, though you know I usually mess up the science articles I try to simplify... —Clementina talk 08:47, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I should probably have waited for more input before moving it; sorry about that. But I've somewhat simplified the article, and it would be appreciated if you could check whether it is simple enough. :) Pmlineditor  09:01, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Scuderia Toro Rosso

Hi. I noticed that you added a note in Talk:Scuderia Toro Rosso that the article came from English Wikipedia. Is this the preferred method? I have been adding the perm link in the edit summary when I create the page.--The Three Headed Knight (talk) 13:55, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Either will do, although I prefer putting {{enwp based}} in the talk page. In the case of that article, I didn't notice the edit summary. Regards, Pmlineditor  12:48, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I hope you mean by being "more active soon" in wikipedia as well. :) Warmly, Belle tête-à-tête 08:59, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, I do. Pmlineditor  12:42, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the answer! Nataly8 (talk) 10:53, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I am a new user and I don't understand the simplification. Can you help? Nataly8 (talk) 06:28, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure. Read through this guideline first. The basic idea is that you should say that you got the article from another wiki (English wikipedia) by using the {{enwp based}} template in the talk page of the article created here, and providing the URL for the last version of the page (You can find this through the page history in EnWP). Then, you should remove words which you find difficult to understand and shorten sentences. You can contact any experienced user to help in simplifying these articles you created. Regards, Pmlineditor  06:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I used the enwp based. It's in the talk page of the article. Nataly8 (talk) 06:36, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Great, I saw that you did use it, but I was just repeating the procedure. However, you must simplify the article even when you use the template. Cheers, Pmlineditor  07:48, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, I put 5 articles in peer review. Did you have any comments to do? Nataly8 (talk) 18:09, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Great. I hope we get a full review of the article soon. Pmlineditor  17:25, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, so far it's not been really well reviewed. You would think for as active as this small project is, there would be more response. Oh well. PrincessofLlyr talk 03:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Purplebackpack Challenge Cup

Three weeks into the Purplebackpack Challenge Cup, and several editors are off to a good start. Barras has a commanding lead in the Plum Division with 135.5 points, Yottie leads the Royal Division with 68.5 points, and PiRSquared17 and Kansan are also off to good starts. However, several editors have yet to claim any points at all! In addition, none of you have claimed a GA, VGA or the Edison bonus, bonuses that could break this competition wide. Hope that changes in the next two weeks! Purplebackpack89 15:11, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality

Hello,

I recently viewed some articles here to find an appalling anti-Indian bias in many of the articles. Please sort this out, as it will mislead readers and could anger some people.

Thanks.

US History VGA Review

I fixed most of your concerns in the Colonial and Revolutionary section. But remember that common, non-controversial knowledge doesn't necessarily have to be sourced. "The U.S. won at Yorktown" is most likely common, non-controversial knowledge. Purplebackpack89 18:30, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for addressing my concerns; I'll try to review the rest of the article soon. About the reference issue, I wanted a reference for the fact that the American soldiers under George Washington lost many battles, and should have been specific, but thanks for adding a ref anyways. Cheers, Pmlineditor  11:38, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I added Saratoga to the main article; more specific battles, such as Kip's Bay and Germantown, can be found at the "daughter" article American Revolutionary War Purplebackpack89 18:01, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to bother you, but if this user was blocked for a violation of the username policy, why is account creation blocked? --Chemicalinterest (talk) 18:00, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The block was for violation of username policy and advertising/spamming. I couldn't find a template for that, and used the username template. If the user understands the policy and that they can be blocked for spam, they can inform us of it in their talkpage/by emailing to the admin list. UNIQLO delete

Hi,

I know the article had problems, but I was just in the middle of posting a "Wait" and the reason. It looks like the work of a student. There were several similarly poor edits all grouped in time last week. They were all on topics in Japan and the edits were all right around when a class session would be wrapping up. I was just going to post to the Talk page, remove the worst of the copyright, and try to get the teacher's attention. Sunday evening here and I bet the user was trying to to finish his homework! I will look after the page for violations. Sound OK? We'll need an article on UNIQLO eventually. It is pretty major. Gotanda (talk) 08:45, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I have restored the article for the time being, if you can remove the copyvio part. I think there is an article in enWP, which you can use for information/sources. Regards, Pmlineditor  08:50, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much. I cut the copyvio and posted a message to the user's talk page. There are a handful of users all editing once a week on Japanese university class-time on Japanese topics. They'll keep coming back unless we can get through to the teacher who is assigning this. I'll try to keep an eye on them. Gotanda (talk) 09:01, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

PGA Review

All of the comments are attended to and   Fixed.   Oh, and thanks for guiding me in my first "nooby" steps—I'll never forget your kind patience with me as in the way you explained with a heavy, exasperated, languishing sigh of one who has been trying to raise a reckless, useless, and ungrateful child,

BTW, I'm not your Wikipedian "papa"; just someone who is trying to help.

— Pmlineditor

I must have been really annoying at that time. ;) Not that I'm less annoying now, though. O! I weep in bitter regret, for what great suffering you must have had because of me. Well, my words are starting to lead to another subject, so I should better break off now. :P Anyway, pardoning my rude impatience, I hope the rest of your review comes soon! ingly, Bella tête-à-tête 01:39, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
