Oklahoma City

The reason it shouldn't have Oklahoma after it is that it's understood that Oklahoma City is in Oklahoma State. The reason why other city articles do it, for the most part, is because the word is not exclusive to them. Having the state at the end is there only to ensure that there's no confusion, because in many cases, the city's name cannot be at simply the city, either because other cities use that name, or because the name is based on a word with another meaning - however, Oklahoma City has no problem with this, as it is the only usage of Oklahoma City, and it lacks any expectation that another "Oklahoma City" will pop up. Thus, should not need to have a disambig. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:49, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

On top of that, we do this with New York City for the same reason, and that actually has a disambiguation page. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:55, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I believe that we should follow whatever en:WP names this article, which means that we should include the Oklahoma after it even though it is pretty much known that it is in Oklahoma because as an encyclopedia, they should make sure that all of their information is good, so that if someone DIDN'T know that Oklahoma City was in Oklahoma, they could be assured that it IS in Oklahoma. PGA

Please see my comment to you at the bottom of Wikipedia:Proposed_good_articles#Comments_3. —Giggy 04:11, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

When I closed it early, there was only 1 oppose and 7 supports, which is 87.5% support. Even if it was to get 2 more opposes, it still would have passed, so it doesn't matter if I closed it 20 hours early. Eptalon is notorious for closing PGA's early, so it doesn't matter in this case. Suceava County

I hope you don't mind my rewrite of this article because of the fact that I need to make sure that each one of the county articles for the counties in Romania have as much information as it possibly can so that I can get Romania up to VGA status. I also rewrote it to make it look like the other county pages that I have created myself. If you disagree with this rewrite, feel free to respond to my move by telling me what you think I should have done differently on my talk page. If it is about the removal of some of the content, the reason for that is because it was a bit too technical for what my goals are with Romania currently. Feel free to re-add back in some of the material that you created the article with, but please make sure to leave what I added to the article there because it is important information :) Cheers, Razorflame 01:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem, I put it there quickly because it was a most wanted. Making it look like the other articles is good, well done. - tholly --Turnip-- 07:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: your note

Thanks! I guess I've just kind of drifted away from this site, especially after becoming an admin on en.wiki. I know someone on the English Wikipedia who is working on a computer program which (I hope) will greatly simplify the task of "translating" articles from en.wiki to simple.wiki. He is, as far as I know, almost ready to release his first beta version for public use, so I may become more active here soon. I guess the main reason I don't come here more is because I like fighting vandalism more than anything else, and the pace here, to someone who is used to en.wiki, is almost intolerably slow, and just fighting vandalism here is almost completely pointless.

Anyways, good luck with your RFA. I'll probably drop by and !vote in it if/when you run. Cheers! J.delanoy talkchanges 03:33, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the message. I am not sure if this "translation program" would be accepted by the community at first run. Even if it is just a beta, I would highly encourage your friend who is developing the program to ask us as a community first before running the program to see if we agree to its' use and function here on the Simple English Wikipedia. This should be done anyways as it is proper policy and procedure anyways when dealing with cross-wiki programs like that. Please let your friend know about this as soon as possible as it might impact him in ways that we cannot fathom yet.

About my RfA: It will happen, although the date is not set yet. I will probably set it for sometime late in this month or early next month, but I am uncertain as of yet because I myself only just got back from a two week long break. I have to regain their trust and respect before I can run one successfully :)

Thanks for the reply and hope you are doing well too. Cheers, Razorflame 23:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

Thank you for your message. I really appreciate your efforts. At present I am checking and finalizing the information posted, but I really would like to help, not only in articles about rivers, but other articles too. I am reluctant to do this because I am not sure I understand the rationale of simple english and would hate to mess up things instead of improving them. I assume that simple english is meant for people who do not know english very well. This does not imply that the are interested only in basic information, for instance that George Washington was a general and the first president of the United States; they would like to know much more provided that the words used to explain this are not beyond their level of comprehension. However, I am not sure I would be able to write a longer article in simple english, because I am not aware of the language constraints. Is there any place where I can find those rules so that I can help efficiently? Thanks in advance.Afil (talk) 19:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Side note

As a side note, I know that you are quite new to the Simple English Wikipedia, and other editors on this site know that I am the person who is writing all of the Romanian Rivers articles on here and they know not to help me out because I like working at my own pace, but since you are quite new to this site, I would just like to ask if you could please allow me to work at my own pace creating the Romanian River articles. It is a project that I have started working on back in March or so of this year, and I am still working on it, so if you could please allow me to work on it at my own pace and not create any Romanian River articles, that would be much appreciated. Thank you for understanding. Cheers, Razorflame 19:13, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

w:WP:OWN

Razor, this edit is about as clear a violation of w:WP:OWN was I think I've ever seen on any Wikimedia project and another example is here. Given you appear keen to inform people you are contemplating another adminship bid soon (which may be against the spirit if not the letter of w:WP:CANVASS), it's probably not a good idea to give those who have opposed in the past any more ammunition to use against you. Regards, MindTheGap (talk) 02:59, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No it wasn't, really. I get what you mean about it being an OWN situation, but he didn't make anybody stop creating the pages, he just politely asked if he could go at a slow pace ("another example" is the same message). To Razor: you have e-mail. — American Eagle (talk) 21:07, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It was not a violation of WP:OWN because I was not asking them to stop creating the pages; I was asking them politely to allow me to create them at a slow pace because I have a great understanding of the pages and I believe that I am the best person to create the pages here. However, I was in no way preventing anyone from creating the pages. To AE, I will check it now. Cheers, Razorflame 01:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am a bit confused by this.. You were not asking them to stop creating the pages, you were just asking them to let you create them? By asking them to let you do it, you are indirectly asking them not to do it because they cannot let you do it if they do it themself.. and technically, if you are creating the pages, then you are preventing them from creating the pages, but thats not the point here although you are not "in no way preventing" - you are directly preventing by creating yourself. -- Creol(talk) 10:26, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't see what the big fuss is about. Razorflame is just trying to work at his own pace, and to avoid edit conflicts, isn't he? He asked politely, and he didn't force anyone to obey him. Minor or Prime 10:37, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Withdrawl:

Razor, I'm glad you decided to wait. It's just a little conflict, and not worth withdrawing. I'm also frustrated with how they cannot understand anything. I nominated you, and I know you're ready for the job. Let the RfA play out, you're ready to become one, the OWN thing is so small and not worth ending it.

To the other editors involved: you are so wrong. He is right, you do haggle over little things and not give any credit to great users who build this site. Adminship is no big deal, Razor has done so much more then I ever did. When I became one (25-0), I didn't deserve it - I had never been any kind of Sysop, knew pretty much no policies, I just had the trust of our users here. They weren't worried about little things, they cared more about the user, his contributions and usefulness of the user. Now, it's "beat down the little editor about so little things, create arguments, start conflicts, then forget about who the users is but at least we're won our argument." Thank you. — AE (talk) 22:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:OWN is such an important part of the Wikipedian ideal (not a "little" thing at all), that having a weak grasp on it makes me reluctant to shift back to a support. I won't oppose Razorflame's nomination, however. He's done too much for this site for me to do that.--TBC 22:50, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the encouragement. I've done everything that everyone else has told me to do in the past; I've waited until someone else nominated me, and I also waited 2 1/2 months since my last RfA for the next nomination. That seems to be the mentalities of people on this site, and I am not sure if it is worth sticking around here if that is going to be the kind of mentality and thoughts that I get from other users on this site. This site has been a passion of mine since I started working on this site oh so long ago, and it still is, but things like this are just completely dissuading me from editing here at all in the future. While it will still take quite a while for that to happen, they will know that it is starting to happen. I will just stop editing here as much as I have in the past until I only edit here for only 5 or 10 minutes a day, and when that happens, I will probably stop editing all together. People need to understand that I am not trying to gain power or sway over people by trying to become a sysop on this Wikipedia; they need to know that I am trying to become a sysop on this Wikipedia so that I can use the tools for the benefit of the community. The other editors on this site are just choosing to ignore that. Cheers, Razorflame 22:51, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem :). A few tips to remember is to mark all short articles with the {{stub}} template, categorize your articles appropriately (and if you don't know which category they should go into, then use the {{uncat}} template), and make sure to follow the Wikipedia:Manual of Style when you edit :). Cheers, and I hope that you have fun editing on here :), Razorflame 23:28, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hello, sorry if I didn't do well for your RfA by bringing up the note you sent me. I feel kind of bad now. I know you weren't trying to bite me, I'm not that new anyway, but it did seem a bit odd at the time. I'm sorry if I damaged your chances of becoming and admin. Really. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 21:33, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry about it :). All things happen for a reason, and this was no exception. The reason why you brought this up was because you thought that it was not a good quality for administrators to have, and you are correct, however, in that instance, I do not believe that I was trying to claim ownership of those river articles. You don't have to feel bad about it as it is all over with and there are no hard feelings over it :). Cheers, Razorflame 23:02, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I understand that, and as detailed on the English Wikipedia policy about edit warring, instead of continuing to revert each others' changes, I followed exactly what the policy over on the English Wikipedia said and stopped reverting each others' changes, quickly followed up by an explanation on your talk page about why I moved what I moved over to the talk page. Followed the policy down to the last letter. Cheers, Razorflame 16:47, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

RomRivers template

The template should be working fine (tested in User:Creol/testing1 with extra 'pre'-ed code that generated the rest of the page). Have a try and see if it helps any. -- Creol(talk) 18:58, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the help in trying to make the creation of the Romanian River articles that much more efficient. However, I believe that the most efficient way that I could possibly make them is in the way that I am used to making them, because there is so many different variables that could potentially make making a template such as the one you made for me quite hard to utilize appropriately. I believe that I could make articles much faster if I just continue making them in the same way that I have been making them since I started because that is the way that I am used to making them, and therefore, since I am used to making them that way, would it not be more efficient to create them that way? Answer

It's easy to tag vandalism and QDs here on Simple, there's not a great deal of intelligent vandalism. And no, I don't think you're ready I'm afraid. Your recent lapses in policy, stability and now popping round to a few people to say "hi" just coincidentally is all a little bit too much for me. We don't have the en-wiki questions at RFA but there still seems some doubt as to why you need the tools anyway, your quest to write 10,000 stubs on Romanian rivers doesn't require the mop at all. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:24, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The reason why I am popping in and saying hi to a few people on this site is not because I want them to vote for me. The reason why I am popping in to users and saying hi to them is called being friendly. I was saying hi to certain users that I have been friends with in the past who have not been very active until now, when I noticed them getting on. Since I see them get on, I want to say hi to them because I have not seen them around here in a while, and therefore, want to see how they are doing. It has nothing to do with my performance on my RfA. Cheers, Razorflame 19:26, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure. Just a coincidence, I get it. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
No matter what you may think to the contrary, that is the exact reason why I am saying hello to users that I have not seen on here in a while. I have absolutely no intention of getting them to vote for my request for adminship. If you were to actually look at each one of the times that I say hello to users who just returned from being off this Wikipedia, you will find that in none of the instances that I say, Hey, go vote on my RfA for me, will ya? Therefore, there is no way that my saying hello to users that I have been friends with in the past that just got back from being off this site. I have, in no way, told them to go vote for me. Cheers, Razorflame 19:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
As I said, a pure coincidence. But you canvassed Kennedy, that is irrefutable - you've admitted it yourself. Another policy abused. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:44, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I do not consider it to have been abused. What I consider to be an abuse of a policy is to continue to do it even after I admitted to the mistake and corrected it, or to canvas much more than just 1 user. In truth, I was not thinking about the WP:CANVAS policy when I saw Kennedy online and remembered that I said that he could co-nominate me. I was only thinking about keeping promises that I have with friends so that my friends do not stop being my friends. That was the reason why I did what I did. Your RFA

Hello Razorflame. A lot has been written about your RfA, there have also been many spiteful and poisonous comments. After the RfA is over I found one invalid vote, that of Swatjester (who had like 10 edits, done in January this year when he voted). All the other votes were valid. This leaves us with 14 support votes, and 12 oppose votes, or 53.85% support. Unfortunately this is too low for you to be promoted to adminship, the criteria talk about 65% support. Please do not take this the wrong way: The 12 people who opposed did not oppose to your editing here, you are a very welcome contributor, and you are good at what you do, editing here. These 12 people opposed because they felt you could improve your communication skills; they pointed to WP:OWN (The articles you create or contribute to are not yours, but belong to the community) and WP:BITE (be nice to other people, especially if they are new here). You yourself said that the comments you left on the talk pages of various users were misunderstood (or you did not intend them that way) - Therefore please work on your communication skills. --Eptalon (talk) 09:42, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Had you done proper research, you'd see that at the time of being struck, I had over 100 edits. SWATJester Son of the Defender 21:36, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have done proper research. Your vote in Razorflame's RfA was your tenth edit (The other 9 being on February 16); What you edited after his RfA is irrelevant for that RfA. I have decided that way, I am the Bureaucrat who closed this. --Eptalon (talk) 10:21, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Aftermath

Hello, Razorflame. I'm sorry for unsuccessfull result on your Rfa. But it's about time now for you to learn more about all mess which happened to you. And I can't really understand it why your always fail? Cause it's 9th nomination! It's really discourage to see, that's why your finally decided to go away from Simple English Wikipedia.

But you have huge number of edit rather than anyone into this Wikipedia, but why you? Oooh my God, I'm really sorry to you. And it's also for other people to stop showing small thing during the nomination, and it seems as a people in this Wikipedia are hate each other that's why when somebody ask for adminship became quite defficult to achieve it.

But they have to watch out the number of edit he made in this Wiki!!! To be honest, Razorflame is pretty good, but all those small thing does not matter to criticise his/her thoughts cause that thing is common into humanity. Razorflame, be patient and don't feel bad for what has happened to all that time and keep faith if there's a single day you'll be one of comm. member.

And all those people who hate you or tryieng to discourage you during the nomination, they'll fail to show up their bad intetion! Please people we have to love each other!!! Thanks and have a good day on your Wikibreak!! Cheers,--Mitaa ya Cut RekOrds (talk) 08:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I want some people to change, cause some others they just don't want to reality a person untill the day of nomination they just pretending to reveal a mistake. That's not good, not good at all. We have to tell each other at anytime, and don't wait for some day, but here, that habit is available. I'm sorry for my strong words, but I have to say that, cause I don't like to see this things is moving forward!! Cheers,--Mitaa ya Cut RekOrds (talk) 05:54, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message

Thank you for your message. I am just trying to reduce the amount of red colors in the list of Rivers. Good to know I am not alone. Afil (talk) 00:01, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I realize that there are still quite a few more rivers that we need to create to make the lists completely blue. I've estimated that more than 6,500 more pages need to be created before our work is complete, and the last time that I was on, the category only had around 1,400 articles in it, most of which were articles that I created. However, it is good to see that the number of articles in the category is over 2,000 now :). Very nice work! Cheers, Razorflame 00:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can help too. ShockingHawk 00:02, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are more than welcome to help us on our quest. Please make sure that you follow the format of the other river articles when you are creating new ones :). Cheers, Razorflame 00:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have no preferences. However, please be aware that the phrase I used is "That means it flows into....". I agree the word

"that" should not appear twice: "That means that it flows... would be wrong. I don't really like the close succession of "this" and "that". Maybe "This means it flows...." could be a compromise.Afil (talk) 00:16, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Either one would be fine with me...I guess that we can leave it as "that means it flows into..." :). I could use AWB to change the sentences for all of the other pages that don't already have it as such tomorrow :). Cheers, Razorflame 02:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome back!

Welcome back, Razorflame. :) You're a month late though–you said you would come back on Sept. 5. Well, at least you're around now. :) – RyanCross (talk) 01:10, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the welcome back :). I am very grateful that there are still people on here that still like me :). Cheers, Razorflame 02:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
By the way, you missed my RfA! You said you would participate. :) Anyway, welcome back again. – RyanCross (talk) 03:02, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Can't help it if I'm not around to be able to do so for you. I was going to participate, however, it seems that you held it whilst I was away :P. Cheers, Razorflame 03:05, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Welcome back. Although I've never eprsonally met you, you seem like one of the nice guys :-) Shapiros10 Flap the Yap 11:18, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the welcome back Shapiros10. I am one of the nice guys on this site, however, sometimes, I get a little frustrated with what other people say about me (see my latest Request for Adminship to get the idea of what I mean). I generally edit/create articles about rivers in Romania, so that is what you will see me doing. Cheers, Razorflame 16:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nice to see you around again. :) --Isis(talk) 16:43, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could say the same thing about you :P. I haven't seen you on since like May or June of this year O_O. Where've you been? Cheers, Razorflame 16:44, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Haha, I guess so. I been more active recently, though. :) --Isis(talk) 16:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That is very good to hear :). Hope to see you around :). Cheers, Razorflame 16:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Redirect

Sorry. Could you please give an example of what you are talking about? Afil (talk) 22:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure.

Renişel River ---> Renisel River (redirecting to Renişel River).

That helpful enough? Cheers, Razorflame 22:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure. In the en:wiki those redirects are done by robots. If you look at the redirect for Renisel River, you will see that the redirect was created automatically. I am not sure how often the robot is run. Articles which I have written for en:wiki (actually not on Rivers) in the last month do not yet have the redirects. I am not sure if this means that the robot is not used any more or if the frequency of updating is only once a month. I did no redirect for any of my articles because I assumed that the same robot was used also for other versions of wikipedia. I am however wondering, if such a robot exists, should it not be used in simple:wiki? Afil (talk) 23:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we have tried to get a robot like that up in the past, however, it malfunctioned and created a ton of unnecessary redirects, so we no longer use a redirect bot. All of the redirects that we create have to be created by hand. Cheers, Razorflame 03:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article Simplification Request

Hello, R'flame. Could you kindly consider to write this article which based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Asian ? Just to simplify it, cause I did'nt understand it very well! If you have a time to do that, please simplify that article cause I want to know more about them! But please don't stay quiet, you have to let me know if you don't have a time to write it, but I hope you do! Have a nice day....--Mitaa ya Cut RekOrds (talk) 17:07, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
