Tab change
Just saw your note in recent changes. I have an equivalent tab on en.wiki to come back to simple. (en:User:Djsasso/SimpleWPTab.js) But you are right, not really any different than an IW. Just makes it quicker to get to. -DJSasso (talk) 17:16, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

@Desertborn: I've got a situation in RC. Someone keeps vandalizing the same pages. I know it's the same person, and he's most likely using a VPN. Derpdart56 (talk) 15:08, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Derpdart56: At this point (vandal is repeating their vandalism several time after you revert) I would suggest you make a report at WP:VIP and let an admin take care of it. When vandals keep vandalizing the same page even after you undo it, that is the better course instead of getting into an edit war. Another thing I sometimes do is wait a little while before reverting...usually the vandals move on in real life and then you can clean up after. Desertborn (talk) 15:11, 23 October 2019 (UTC)

Copy-paste editing change
What do you think about copying datas from english wikipedia and pasting it on simple english? I don't consider it a right thing to do because simple english wikipedia does not have as many pages as english and so it leaves a lot of unnecessary red links. And thats i why fact check from myself and then add it with a simple formatting style with few red links to provide a good interface for readers. But a guy seems to disagree. - @ClumsyMind: I appreciate your concern for the readers and wanting to make it a good experience for them. However, copying data is not the same as copying text. When we copy written text, we need to re-write or change it to make it simpler. That is of course very important. But data is very different. And I think that is what you refer to, things like infoboxes and others like that. In this case, it is just data so there is nothing much to make simpler. So copying without change is usually fine. And having red links is not a problem since it shows what we need to create. As Auntof6 says, "The more times a term is redlinked, the higher it appears at Special:WantedPages." So red links are not a problem either. As a side note, may I give you a piece of advice? If you are going to comment on a disagreement you have with another person, it is best to name them so they can give their side of things. That is better for all involved, and certainly more fair. - Just butting in! IMO the same conditions apply to infoboxes as applies to written text. In science they have far too much data for a beginner and so are out of sync with the text. Usually they are copies of En wiki, which makes them easy to update. But they are usually way beyond undergraduate level in the sciences, where many of our readers are still at school. Naturally, this does not apply to many topics, but in science it matters a great deal. Look at Saturn for an example of what Osiris and myself did to make the infobox comprehensible to non-experts. Unfortunately, the effort to do this was huge, and not to be repeated lightly. Also it makes the job of updating not so easy. But the infobox as was (and still is for other planets) was made for professionals with little regard for the schoolchildren who often get interested in the subject. The Wikipedia Library is announcing new free, full-access, accounts to reliable sources as part of our research access program. You can sign up for new accounts and research materials on the Library Card platform:
- Al Manhal – Arabic journals and ebooks
- Ancestry.com – Genealogical and historical records
- RILM – Music encyclopedias
Many other partnerships are listed on our partners page, including Adam Matthew, EBSCO, Gale and JSTOR.
A significant portion of our collection now no longer requires individual applications to access! Read more in our recent blog post.

New Wikipedia Library collections and design update (August 2021) change
Hello Wikimedians!
The Wikipedia Library is pleased to announce the addition of new collections, alongside a new interface design. New collections include:
- Cabells – Scholarly and predatory journal database
- Taaghche - Persian language e-books
- Merkur, Musik & Ästhetik, and Psychologie, Psychotherapie, Psychoanalyse - German language magazines and journals published by Klett-Cotta
- Art Archiv, Capital, Geo, Geo Epoche, and Stern - German language newspapers and magazines published by Gruner + Jahr
Additionally, De Gruyter and Nomos have been centralised from their previous on-wiki signup location on the German Wikipedia. Many other collections are freely available by simply logging in to The Wikipedia Library with your Wikimedia login!
We are also excited to announce that the first version of a new design for My Library was deployed this week. We will be iterating on this design with more features over the coming weeks. Read more on the project page on Meta.
Lastly, an Echo notification will begin rolling out soon to notify eligible editors about the library (T132084). If you can translate the notification please do so at TranslateWiki!

Many other sources are freely available for experienced editors, including collections which recently became accessible to all eligible editors: Cambridge University Press, BMJ, AAAS, Érudit and more.
