December 2020 change

Thank you for your changes to Wikipedia, Hellothere4. However, I would like to remind you that when you use certain templates, you should substitute them by adding "subst:" before the template's name. An example is, use "{{subst:uw-subst}}" instead of "{{uw-subst}}". This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thank you. --IWI (talk) 18:37, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Welcoming users change

Hi. Please welcome users when they have made their first edit, not when they've first created their account.
This is a mistake I made, and you were just doing the same thing as me, so it's not your fault really.
This is just for future reference. Many thanks. Belwine💬📜 18:39, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

User:Hellothere4/Sandbox change

Hi, I have moved your draft article to User:Hellothere4/Sandbox. The original title did not have User:, so it was being treated as a standalone article, and not as a subpage of your userpage as expected. Chenzw  Talk  04:57, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Marking pages as quick deletion change

Hi. Remember to not remove any content from the article when QD'ing it, even if that content is rude.. If the article is kept, oversighters can remove page revisions from public history. Many thanks. :) Belwine💬📜 18:22, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to add back the content that was in the article now though... Belwine💬📜 18:24, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Quick deletion of Category:Elections in Alabama change

The page you wrote, Category:Elections in Alabama, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. --IWI (talk) 17:38, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

January 2021 change

Hello! Thank you for creating a new category. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. --IWI (talk) 17:39, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ahh ok makes sense. I don't have anything to add to it right now so it can go. (Hellothere4 (talk) 19:55, 2 January 2021 (UTC))Reply

Star Wars characters need simplification change

Hello there, Hellothere4,

I notice you are working on creating many articles for Star Wars characters. These need to be much simpler. The vocabulary needs to be limited and the sentences should be shorter and in simple subject--verb--object form.

Some examples to help you focus on what to change.

In Cara Dune, these words are not common/not simple so they need to be replaced with simpler words, explanations, or links to articles (in that order). Repel, galaxy, sarcastic, wrestling, enforcer, raider, speederbikes. Some words or phrases can be reduced to simpler text "on board" --> "on"; "on stand by" --> "waiting and ready"; "arrives" --> "comes"; "states" --> "says". And, words that may seem simple, such as corner, have a different meaning when used as a passive verb.

Word order should be direct, active, and simple. Avoid embedding the main subject and verb after phrases. See "When the raiders come to attack the villagers with the help of Cara and Din win the battle, then the Mandalorian and Cara go their separate ways." Example: Raiders came to attack the village. Cara and Din help the villagers win. Then, the Mandalorian and Cara each leave and go to different places.

All of these new articles are complex and need some careful editing. It is worth spending some time with [1] and there are many web tools to help you identify complexity. This one [2] is excellent for vocabulary.

I think of it as a puzzle and an exercise to improve my writing to find the simplest possible way to write something. It has improved my writing ability. --Gotanda (talk) 02:33, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks I just edited to try to make it simpler. (Hellothere4 (talk) 02:57, 5 January 2021 (UTC))Reply
Thanks! I've made it simpler and commented on why I made each edit. There is one part I cannot fix because I do watch the Mandalorian. Please look at "Cara is then invited to work as an enforcer with Greef which she agrees to." Avoid passive. Who asks (not invites) her to become an enforcer (link or explain). "Which she agrees to." -- > She says, "yes" is simpler. Relative clauses starting with which, that, who can and should besplit of as short simple sentences. The other new Star Wars character articles need similar editing. Thanks, --Gotanda (talk) 00:40, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! (Hellothere4 (talk) 22:15, 6 January 2021 (UTC))Reply

RfD nomination of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron change

An editor has requested deletion of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2021/Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Saroj Uprety (talk) 15:29, 7 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Hellothere4. It looks like an article you created was derived from the English Wikipedia or another version of Wikipedia. If that is indeed the case, please make sure you add some form of attribution, either in your change summary or on the article's talk page. This must be done, even for derivative works, or the article will be deleted in time. More instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Thank you. --IWI (talk) 16:27, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you're talking about the Idaho election then I had trouble moving the infobox over from en WP so I had to copy the intro paragraph with it. (Hellothere4 (talk) 18:15, 9 January 2021 (UTC))Reply
Any article derived from the English Wikipedia must have attribution on the talk page. See more at WP:Transwiki attribution. This has to be done. --IWI (talk) 00:06, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello, thank you for your page 2020 United States Senate election in Tennessee, however, it seemed to have copied from enwp, or derived from, as @ImprovedWikiImprovment said, we need attribution for all pages, I had helped you do it this time, it's actually very easy, just {{translated page|en|(INSERT PAGE NAME ON ENWP HERE)}}, add this template on the talkpage and all is done. Do let me know if you have any issues. Thanks for the pages. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:53, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I try to just copy over the infoboxes because its faster. (Hellothere4 (talk) 13:00, 10 January 2021 (UTC))Reply
May I know what you mean by copy over infobox, we cannot have just infoboxes, there need to be content. Just give it a go, it's not too hard to add the template in the talkpage. Alternative will be when creating the page, use a summary like "adapted from enwp version of (INSERT PAGE NAME HERE)", just like that is okay. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 18:18, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Happy change

My change description "feel free to mine these sources for more content" was not addressed to you specifically but to anyone who might see it. It was not intended as a criticism of your article creation, and I apologize if it seemed that way. Darkfrog24 (talk) 18:29, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's fine. (Hellothere4 (talk) 18:36, 10 January 2021 (UTC))Reply

Version change

Thank's for doing the attribution for articles, but your parameter for the "version" section was incorrect and pointed to an article about Tennessee in your last few creations. To find out the number for this you should:

  1. Go to the English Wikipedia article you are basing the article on.
  2. Click "view history".
  3. Click on the date of the version at the top of the list.
  4. Go to the address bar at the top of your browser and copy the number after "oldid=".
  5. Paste this in the "|version=" part of the {{translated page}} template.

More information can be found at WP:Transwiki attribution. Thanks, --IWI (talk) 16:26, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism on List of emotions change

Hello. Thanks for reverting the vandalism on List of emotions, but you didn't revert all the edits that that user made on the page, so there was still some vandalism left. When in Twinkle, just use the "rollback" feature to undo all the edits from a user, you don't need rollback permissions to do this. You can also "rollback (VANDAL)" to do this in cases of obvious vandalism. Best,   --Belwine💬📜 12:08, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@BlackWidowMovie0: Hellothere4 is perfectly in the right here IMO. Articles can be copied from the English Wikipedia if the article is simple enough and has attribution, which it does. Not eligible for G12 if has attribution and simple enough language. Belwine💬📜 22:20, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mass QD tagging change

For the case of 2600:1009:B02B:4B82:F816:46C5:304E:65F1, it would be best if you don't mass tag every single article - administrators have tools to delete all of the creations by the editor, and continuing to tag them simply clogs up Recent Changes. Chenzw  Talk  16:30, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok.--Hellothere4 (talk) 16:46, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also helpful is to leave the user's text as was. If you remove it the admin just has to revert it to see what has been written. Exception would be serious libel, but they are rare. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:11, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Historic Events In This Election Cycle!" change

I feel like this section on 1964 United States presidential election should either be changed a lot or removed. There's nothing like this on the enwiki article, it's rather informal. As you were editing it a minute ago, I thought I'd check in with you to see your thoughts. Best, —Belwine (talk) 21:40, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

It should but I was just kinda exploring around when I saw it.--Hellothere4 (talk) 21:41, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to remove the section now. It was added by a user who has been warned several times for not following WP:NPOV, and writing from a non-encyclopedic perspective "You are writing many of these articles as if it's a fan magazine rather than an encyclopedia." —Belwine (talk) 21:46, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata change

Hi. When creating articles, make sure to link it to its Wikidata item.
Doing this is quite easy once you have done it a few times.
Just go to wikidata.org, search for the subject of your article, then scroll down to the bottom where you'll see "Wikipedia (X entries)". Then, just press edit and add "simple" "ARTICLE NAME".
