Nicolo Paganini change

Hello! I see that you've created the article Nicolo Paganini, but we already have an article about the subject here: Niccolò Paganini. I think you should merge the page you created by copying over the text to the existing article, and turn Nicolo Paganini to a redirect. Thanks! — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 22:07, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Simple English change

Hello there. Thank you for all the work you've been doing. However, I have noticed that much of the content you're creating is complex English and hasn't been simplified. Here at Simple English Wikipedia, we write articles with a collection of easily understood words. Please take a look at our guide on how to write Simple English pages. Thanks! Quick deletion of List of National Historic Landmarks in Philadelphia change

The page you wrote, List of National Historic Landmarks in Philadelphia, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. List of German foods and dishes change

This list seems to be somewhat arbitrary and hard to manage. Not sure what the criteria are, but things like carrot cake and cheesecake hardly seem uniquely or even especially German. What purpose do you think list serves? --Gotanda (talk) 23:18, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of List of movies considered the best change

An editor has requested deletion of List of movies considered the best, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/List of movies considered the best and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Gotanda (talk) 22:13, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kathryn Bigelow change

I have reverted all of your edits because you are making the article complex and the article in turn might be nominated for deletion. Perhaps think about creating a Draft with your edits so that you can work on expansion AND simplification or otherwise it might look like a copy and paste version of the English wikipedia's version which would by copyvio TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 19:10, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

July 2022 change

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Kathryn Bigelow" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:10, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kathryn Bigelow was not copied and pasted. On the simple English wikipedia website, it says
"Simple does not mean short. Writing in Simple English means that simple words are used. It does not mean readers want basic information. Articles do not have to be short to be simple; expand articles, add details, but use basic vocabulary." Schiller12 (talk) 19:24, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am tagging @Auntof6 who is an admin here. This was not the case on this article. You directly copied from enWP and plopped it on the article. That is a issue. You did not simplify it whatsoever. You were also warned about this by a global steward, over-sighter and admin above in User_talk:Schiller12#Simple_English that you must use simple english on this wikipedia and he even pointed you to the guidelines on how to do this. When I compared the two it came up as a 98% match which is plagiarism and copyright violation. Instead of me making this a 2nd warning which assumes neither good nor bad faith, I left it at a level one which assumes good faith as we all make mistakes, however, this is one of those that needs a warning. @PotsdamLamb:: I looked at the version of the article that was tagged for QD. I think it was significantly simplified from the English Wikipedia ("enwiki") version and did not qualify for A3 quick deletion. The sentence structure was simpler, and simpler words were used in most cases. What I don't see is attribution, which is easily fixed by adding attribution to this talk page.

You said you found that the enwiki article and the article here were "a 98% match". How are you doing the comparison? If you are using an automated tool, be aware that a very close match may still be simplified enough for here. For example, consider the following scenario:

  • Enwiki article has the sentence "Smith went to Harvard and graduated in 2008."
  • Simple has this: "Smith went to Harvard. He graduated in 2008."

Here the sentence structure has been simplified as much as it can be, but an automated comparison would still find a lot of similarity. I would say that any kind of automated comparison cannot be used without checking the text yourself. In addition, as I mentioned elsewhere, even an exact copy is acceptable is attribution is given and the original text is already simple enough. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:22, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6 I would like to point out that both TDKR and myself hit this at the exact same time. When I saw it, it was a 98% match but that got taken care of by TDKR See User_talk:Schiller12#Kathryn Bigelow which was posted at 19:10 26 July 2022 UTC and my post directly below it, also at 19:10 26 July 2022. So this was a conflict so what you saw hours later was different and handled. Even TKDR says in his statement "...AND simplification or otherwise it might look like a copy and paste version of the English wikipedia's version which would by copyvio." Just FYI. I do not need any comments back as I am just pointing this out to you. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:14, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reporting Users change

Hello, when you come across editors like the one earlier who created the attack pages and such, the moment you see those kinds of pages or when you warn them up to level 4 or Only Warning, please be sure to report them to the VIP board for action by the admins. If you use twinkle, it is built in just look for the VIP portion and select the reason why and include any notes or links then submit and it will update it. Thanks. August 2022 change

Hello, Schiller12! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Related Pages" instead of English Wikipedia's "See also", which you used in "Vision quest". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Related Pages" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 04:54, 6 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
