Good morning! It is approximately 10:19 AM where Asteralee lives. Today is Sat, April 26, 2025 .(update)
Renaming of Category:Driver
changeWhy did you rename Category:Driver (video game series) to Category:Driver? The title is worse because just "driver" is too bland; you need a disambiguation in the title even if there is not another category with the same title. QuantumFoam66 (talk) 07:39, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- @QuantumFoam66 Hi! I moved them, hoping that either I could move them again to their respectful titles and either redirect the older categories to the newer, up-to-date category or delete the oldest category for either C1 (once I remove the {{category redirect}}) or G7. I'll get it done now, thanks! ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 23:16, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

changeIs this you? (ip: 2601:644:907e:a70:24ab:8ac7:97c2:188f) — Cactus🌵 spiky ツ 09:00, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Cactusisme, I had emailed Asteralee last night asking if it was them but never got a response back, I've since let the IPs edits stand as none of their edits here are vandalism however I'm not happy with the thought of potentially some random person editing someone elses pages (they're claiming they're Asteralee but that's no different to me claiming I'm an astronaut = Doesn't make it any more true!) but like I said the edits haven't been vandalism/unimprovements so yeah, –Davey2010Talk 10:30, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Cactusisme and Davey2010: Asteralee can't log in until January 30, so that's why she isn't replying at all using her profile. My main concern here would be her privacy, an IP address could potentially disclose personal information. If I were her, I wouldn't add anymore Wikibreak enforcers and just come back to Wikipedia whenever she wants to, even if she's supposed to be on a break, it's fine. It's volunteering, it's not a job or school, you can come and go whenever you want to (nobody will never judge if you are active or not), but it's better to always stay logged in order to hide your IP. The other problem is – as Davey pointed out – that other IPs might impersonate you: IP says that they're you, but we can't be 100% sure (but I personally wouldn't publicly confirm whether you are that IP). Stay safe, ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 13:18, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update @Dream Indigo, Unfortunately I had no idea they went on a Wikibreak otherwise I would've been sensitive to this and would've reverted here, Obviously we should never link IPs to editors but in this case it's hard not too when they're claiming to be someone and that someone doesn't respond to your emails privately - it leaves you wondering whether the edits should stand or whether the IP is sneakily trolling, (I'm also going to respectfully say if it is them they're very silly for changing their stuff on an IP (they should've logged in to change things)). Anyway thanks for updating us, Take care and stay safe, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 13:50, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

- Hi! Welcome back. I don't really like the enforcer, as it can really cause some issues if you want to come back sooner. As an alternative, you can request a W:WP:SELFBLOCK, which will allow you to post on your own talk to request editing privileges back. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 22:24, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski Hi! While I do think the selfblocks are a good idea, I like my block log to stay clean (I'm the slight perfectionist), so I think I will just stick to editing with my account still accessible. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 22:29, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

@Cactusisme: No, that IP address wasn't me; I don't have any relations to the address at all. Thanks for checking with me for clarification!
@Davey2010: You're a lifesaver! Thanks a lot for this, that's the reason I was able to log back in! I'll be signing off after this comment to continue my WikiBreak, but that website was really helpful, I'll need this next time I want to skip history :D
@Dream Indigo: Thanks for explaining to everyone that I was on a WikiBreak; this will probably be my last time using the Enforcer again since it's really stressing me out (●'◡'●)

Categorizing
changeHi, Asteralee. Thanks for categorizing articles. When you do that, please categorize as completely as possible. For example, the articles about battles could have conflict categories related to when they happened. Sometimes that's the year, or the decade, or the century, whichever category we have that's most specific. If there isn't a conflict category, there might be an event category. If neither of those exist, then just the year or century would do. I've added such categories to a few that you did, but please add them yourself when you do more categorization.
I recently suggested a way to think about categorizing to another user. It involves using the "five Ws" that are used by journalists: who, what, when, where, why, and also how (although that doesn't start with W). If you look for categories to cover those things, that help make the categorization complete. Feel free to ask if you have questions about any of this, and thanks again for categorizing! -- Auntof6 (talk) 15:13, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Okay, I'll keep the five Ws + how in mind. I'll make sure to catagorise with more details. Thanks and here's a new WikiPet! ૮・ᴥ・ა ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 15:35, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
Personal attacks
changeHi! If there is ever a time that a user (like a vandal/LTA) attacks you personally on your talk page, you can report it to VIP immediately and the administrator team will address it. You can warn the user if you wish, but I personally think that it should be common knowledge to all humans that personal attacks are inappropriate. You can also reach out to me directly with any questions (or ping me on IRC), and I will try to respond. Have a great weekend! Griff (talk) 16:10, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Griffinofwales Okay, thank you! Also, could you do me a favour and protect my talk page for a while? Have a nice day! ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 16:12, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- I did so for a month. Reviewing the protection log, it looks like this talk page has been subject to a lot of vandalism :/ While infinite protection of user talk pages is typically not done, as there are some times when unregistered users may want to talk to you (especially if you have help in anti-vandalism patrol), it may be something to consider. If you do want infinite protection, I would recommend adding a note on your talk page telling unregistered users how to contact you (for example, by posting to ST, or my talk page, or perhaps a special page you set up in your user space). Best, Griff (talk) 16:19, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
DYK updates
changeHello Asteralee! Wanted to thank you for your queue updates whenever DYK needs a good ol' update :) I wanted to leave a possible idea when updating queues. It's not in the rules per say, but I feel it makes sense.
- When adding hooks onto the queues, perhaps we could prioritize in duplicated hooks. For example, in the holding area we have two hooks for Gracie Abrams and Calvin Coolidge. I think both hooks should be added in the next queue to avoid any back-to-back hooks with the similar subject in the queues.
- Next, I've noticed the most recent hooks in the waiting area have a similar pattern going such as multiple hooks about U.S. presidents, iPhones/smartphones, YouTubers, and popes. Perhaps we could sprinkle some of those hooks in future queues in moderation to avoid having one queue filled with hooks about U.S. presidents, popes, YouTubers or smartphones (it's a bit repetitive).
Just a thought! Not sure what you think of my strategy? TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 23:47, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101 Hi (❁´◡`❁) I like both the ideas, especially about putting more than one hook (I prefer two) in the queues, but I have a quick question: Is there any specific direction for taking the hooks? I go by the bottom, but I want to know if there's a specific way to do it. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 00:07, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Perfect! So what I usually do is I'd start from the bottom since they're the oldest hooks in waiting, but given the reasons I stated above maybe we could spice things up by adding 4 from the bottom and 2 (if possible) from the top to reduce duplicated hooks. From the top meaning hooks about U.S. presidents, popes, YouTubers, smartphones, duplicated hooks, etc. We could follow this unofficial formula until there's no more duplicated hooks (as mentioned above). TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:12, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- So for instance, with this next update, we could add a Gracie Abrams and Calvin Coolidge hook to get those out of the way and then take four other hooks from the bottom (while still keeping the 3 people/3 places/non-people hooks per queue rule into consideration). TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:13, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Then maybe the queue after this one we could continue with four hooks from the bottom and then two thematic duplicated hooks from the top (maybe a hook about a U.S. president and another about a pope, etc.) However we should also maybe keep in mind we shouldn't have a hook about a U.S. president/pope/smartphone/YouTuber in every single queue in a row, so we might have to alternative the formula too :/ Sorry if my suggestion sounds confusing! TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:15, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101 Great! That's a good idea! Here's a new WikiPet! /ᐠ - ˕ -マ Ⳋ ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 00:15, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Cute! :) I'd be happy to make adjustments to any additions to the queue you might make for the sake of diversity. You can ping me if you have any more questions regarding DYKs! TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:16, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

IP vandal
changeThis IP is not stopping anytime soon, kinda like User:Justin Bieber is a nazi you have already reported at WP:VIP, should we just wait until he gets blocked and then we can revert the edits in his contribs? What do you think that we should do? I want to prevent an edit war happening (like last time). 𝓐𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓮 (𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴 ♡ 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓼) 15:30, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Adelaideslement8723 Hi, Adelaide! Yes, we should probably wait until the IP either gets blocked or gets tired of causing trouble. We don't have to worry too much, since ChenzwBot usually rollbacks what we don't. Once the IP's gone, we can rollback what ChenzwBot (or what the other editors) don't revert. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 15:36, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

American Academy Award winners
changeHi, Asteralee. I hope you don't mind, but I used a combination of Cat-a-lot and popups to quickly move a lot of Americans to the American subcategory. Let me know if you'd like to know how to do that. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:04, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Auntof6! Yes, please, I'd like to know. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 22:05, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- OK, here you go:
- Step 1: Enable popups if you haven't already done so.
- You'll find it in your settings on the Gadgets tab, in the "Browsing gadgets" section. Click on the checkbox for Navigation popups, then click the Save button at the bottom of the page. To learn how to use it beyond what I explain below, click on the text "Navigation popups" next to the checkbox.
- Step 2: This would be to enable Cat-a-lot, but it looks like you already have it enabled in your javascript page settings.
- Step 3: Select pages
- On Category:Academy Award winning actors, you should see a little pale-yellow box with a clickable link labelled "Cat-a-lot". Click on that and it will expand into showing the current category, its parent categories, and its child categories. You'll need it to show the nationality categories, so IN THE YELLOW CAT-A-LOT WINDOW, click on "Academy Award winning actors by nationality". The page in your browser shouldn't change, only what's displayed in the yellow Cat-a-lot window.
- I see some actors that need to be moved under the British category, so look for those. For each article in the main Academy Award winning actors category, hover your cursor over the article name. You should see a little window pop up showing some information about the page and the beginning of the article text. If you see that the actor is British (which includes English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish), click on the article name. The name will be highlighted (the highlight looks green on my screen), which means it's ready to process with Cat-a-lot.
- Step 4: Move selected pages
- After you've highlighted all the pages that you want to move to the British category (I see at least two), look in the yellow window to find the line for British actors. Find the right-pointing arrow on that line and click on it. The pages will be moved to that category.
- Tip: If the yellow Cat-a-lot window is getting in your way, you can:
- Resize it by dragging the top of the window up or down
- Move it around the page by clicking in the body of the window and dragging it somewhere else.
- Notes:
- If any of this doesn't work, let me know what happens that shouldn't, or doesn't happen that should, and I'll see if I can help. -- Auntof6 (talk) 03:31, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Thank you very much :) ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 13:05, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
Magic words
changeHello 😄 I don't know if this counts as off-wiki or not, but I'm commenting anyways 😆
I saw your recent changes on your Talk header, this page is very useful for magic words and parser functions, you can learn everything about "ROOT-" "BASE-", "PAGENAME" and so much more interesting stuff! That page is life-saver when it comes to templates etc.
Btw I just updated my code on User talk:Dream Indigo/Archives, now it displays something different on the /Archives (your /Talk header) page itself. I also tried to simplify the coding a little, because there used to be too many noincludes and such, it was ugly and confusing. So if you want you can check it out! And if you have any questions, always feel free to ask 😊
P.S. On the Italian Wikipedia, I made it so you can now have a magic pink infobox 💖 say goodbye to that boring default color, we edit with style ✨ Having a pretty workspace is super motivating, isn't it? 🌸
P.P.S. I love the tiny mushroom 🍄🟫 so fairycore 🧚♀️ ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 18:04, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi I’m not Asteralee, but I use the plain talk page header in my talk page and in my archives, I mostly use archive tags on my archive pages (I do not use year archives (that Indigo and Astera do yearly like: User talk:Dream Indigo/Archives/2024 and User talk:Asteralee/Talk header/2024, which is archived every new year), but instead I use number archives like: User talk:thetree284/Archive 3, which is archived randomly up to 10 comments each). You can go to the English Wikipedia's magic words page to see what do they mean.
- P.S. And I saw your user page that the message said that you live in a mushroom. It doesn’t makes no sense when a human lives in mushroom, because mushrooms are usually too small for humans to live unless you buy a mushroom house.
- P.P.S. Which workspace are you talking that is motivating?
- Thanks, thetree284 (talk) 02:02, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Thetree284: Hello, yes there is a en:Help:Magic words English Wikipedia page for that, but the MediaWiki one I linked in the first comment is more complete, even the enwiki version tells the readers to check it out. - @Dream Indigo: Hi! Thanks a lot for updating the Italian infobox! I was gonna rip my hair out when I realised I couldn't change the background! How could I not live without my colours?? I'm very glad you like my mushroom; I spent almost twenty minutes making it look as enchanted as ever. I'll take a look at the link, besides, I still have more to update (because Asteralee's never satisfied and she needs more aesthetic-ness).
- PS: I love your cat, so cute!
- @Thetree284: Hello! The caption is supposed to be humour to the reader. Unfortunately, I don't live in a mushroom :( ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 22:28, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

- @Dream Indigo Re:Patroller. Awww, thanks (o゜▽゜)o☆ However, it's kind of weird that I got my permissions on the 25 of a month. Strange... Also, I know how to do the patrolling, but when you patrol something, does it mean that it's good, or does it need more improvement?
- Re: Languages. That's actually a perfect idea! I think I'll focus on Italian (I'm about to enter A2!) and French, considering I already communicate using them in the multi-language Wikipedias. Also, this thread is ginormous, so I'll put it into a collapse.
- À bientôt! (see you soon!) ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 21:58, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, collapsing is a great choice XD And I became autoconfirmed on English and Simple English Wikipedias on January 9 (2021 and 2024)! Back to Wikipedian stuff, you mark a page as patrolled when it's a good page :) When in doubt, don't click "mark as patrolled", someone else will. It's better to have an unpatrolled good page than having a patrolled bad page. About languages, I'd do the same thing because Italian and French are different enough not to confuse them, but similar enough to have some rules in common. I don't speak French, so a dopo (later, but in Italian lol)! 😄 ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 02:37, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

Page moves
changeHi, Asteralee. In response to your question, I am looking at your contributions. I noticed that you renamed some articles in a way that removed disambiguating text from the name. A couple of examples are:
- Moving "Salvino (horse)" to "Salvino"
- Moving "Tuckahoe (village), New York" to "Tuckahoe, New York"
It might be true that we don't have anything else here named Salvino or Tuckahoe, New York. However, because people often copy articles here from English Wikipedia, we need to consider possible articles we don't have yet that might have the same name.
- On enwiki, the Salvino page is for a surname. If someone moved a page here that linked to the surname, it would end up linking to the article about the horse here.
- On enwiki, "Tuckahoe, New York" is a redirect to a section of a dab page. That section links to different things including two settlements named Tuckahoe.
We shouldn't have to keep our article names the same as enwiki. In fact, we often don't, especially when we want the name to be simpler. But when it's a question of disambiguating article names, it's a good idea to keep them the same as enwiki so that things copied from enwiki to here end up with correct links.
I hope that makes sense. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. This will not affect my answer to your question. It's just something I wanted to point out. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:14, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Yes
changeThe answer to your question is yes. :) For future reference, I usually prefer to keep correspondence on-wiki, rather than by email. Cheers! -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:02, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, wow! Thanks a lot, Auntof6 :) ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 23:03, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- Congrats on getting patroller. Just be sure that any page you patrol is in good shape and not missing anything it should have. If it's missing anything, you can add the things that are missing, tag the page to show that they're missing, or just leave the page for someone else to patrol. I think there's a page somewhere that lists things to check, and I also have User:Auntof6/How to#Patrol in case that helps. -- Auntof6 (talk) 05:11, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

Category:Automobile brands
changeHello, I see you removed Ferrari from Category:Automobile brands. I am going through the corresponding category on English Wikipedia and adding all the automobile brands that exist here to this category. I am treating "automobile brands" as different from "automobile companies" as something like Lexus is a brand of Toyota but not its own company. 192.83.149.205 (talk) 22:31, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! Sorry, my bad, I undid the edit you made without looking too closely. I'll undo my edit. Thanks for catching that! ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 22:42, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Category:English actors
changeSome of them are American or Canadian actors. In that case, I don't think they belong in that category. 2601:644:8184:F2F0:F143:E9DC:4FB0:C9C1 (talk) 17:11, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought you were talking about English people (the people who are part of Great Britain) and not the English language. I'll move them to their appropriate categories, thanks again! ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 17:14, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- To be clear, the category should be for people in England. 2601:644:8184:F2F0:94FC:721C:A06B:998D (talk) 17:15, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Then they should be moved to Category:English television actors. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 17:17, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, but what I was saying is that some of them in "Actresses in English television" were from the USA and Canada, but they acted in English television shows. 2601:644:8184:F2F0:94FC:721C:A06B:998D (talk) 17:21, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

- It was deleted before, but as long as the category is good, it can be kept :) So sorry for the misunderstanding, I see what you are talking about now. Have a great day :D ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 17:26, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello
changeYou made R from https://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:People_with_Anorexia_Nervosa&redirect=no to cat People with Anorexia. Please put it back, and those people with anorexia nervosa in the correct category. The goal would be to have the cat (with with AN) placed in the parent cat (people with anorexia) and/or to use a diffuse template on the cat (with with AN) to include them in the parent cat, like with cat "people with Crohn's disease" and "deaths from crohn's disease" alike.
I would do this but I suppose this talk page message would have to be sent to let another editor know about changes I would do to the cat/redirect. However I don't know how to do that so I am going to bed, but hopefully we reach a resolution W;ChangingUsername (talk) 23:39, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
