Revert

change

Ah well. I thought it was the subjects obituary. Thx fr33kman 19:19, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I was curious how you found that info so I did a Google search. They're easily confused because the father is Daniel and the son is Dan, but it was the father who was a professor and it was the father's obituary. On a related note, I'm not convinced that the subject is notable. Batrachoseps (talk) 19:23, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm not sure it's notable either but there '''is''' a ''claim'' of notability so it's not suitable for a quick delete. fr33kman 19:29, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Son of God

change

Hi, Batrachoseps. I removed all that material because the page is now a disambiguation page. Most of what was there is not appropriate for a dab page. I have undone your revert. If you think the material should be put back, please discuss first. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:37, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6 The English Wikipedia page has similar content. Batrachoseps (talk) 22:41, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not on their dab page. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:44, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 I was looking at en:Son of God. Since Eptalon has already added the content, could we have the page stay like that? Batrachoseps (talk) 22:45, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) I agree with Auntof6. It's a dab page not an article fr33kman 22:48, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Fr33kman Do you mean that en:Son of God should be deleted? And all the other versions of that article in all other languages? Batrachoseps (talk) 22:49, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not at all. Thier page is an article. Remember, we are not enwiki, we do our own thing here. fr33kman 22:51, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Fr33kman Just because this is not enwiki, why does that mean the version Eptalon created should be deleted, even though it's similar to the version on enwiki? Batrachoseps (talk) 22:53, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Often, pages change their function. This is one of those cases fr33kman 22:56, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not understanding why the page should change its function. Batrachoseps (talk) 23:02, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not if you mean with all the material I removed. The entries on dab pages should have minimal information, sometimes only a link. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:49, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 I'm unsure if you're referring to en:Son of God as a dab page or not. The article as existed before you edited it was similar to that one. If that article can exist on English Wikipedia, why not on Simple English Wikipedia? Batrachoseps (talk) 22:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
The page here was a redirect to Jesus. That led to the RfD. The RfD is still open, but editor(s) changed it to a dab page without waiting for the RfD to close. If it's going to be a dab page, it needs to be properly formatted as a dab page. If we want the additional content, then it shouldn't be a dab page. In any case, we should be waiting for the RfD to close. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:56, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 Can we call it "not a dab page"? The topic itself is notable, it's not just an "ambiguous" term that needs to be "disambiguated". Evidence for this: the topic has an article on 37 Wikipedias. I didn't think the redirect was good, which is why I nominated it for deletion. I think both Eptalon's version ("not a dab page") and your version ("a dab page") are better kept than deleted (so I would gladly withdraw the RfD, but that's not allowed). However, I think Eptalon's version is more useful because it has more content, so I'd rather keep that. Batrachoseps (talk) 23:02, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think @Eptalon might want to comment here. fr33kman 23:04, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Eptalon's version was a dab page -- it had the disambiguation template at the bottom. It could be a regular article instead, but we should really be deciding that at the RfD, not here. -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agreed fr33kman 23:13, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wrote the article basd on the EnWp page, if we leave out the obvious, there's still some:
  • Many emperors/rulers used it to say their reign was legitimate (Ancient Engypt: 4 dynasies of pharaohs, Alexander the Great,...)
  • Roman emperors starting with Augustus/Octavian ('Son of divine Julius (Caesar)')
  • Perhaps a play on words: one person of the trinity, even though that's not recognized by all Christians
etc.
So there's definitely enough material for a regular article. Also: If you need a footnote in a disambiguation page, that's a hint that perhaps this shouldn't be one.
And finally: We don't want a disambiguation page, listing 7-8 entries, with less than half pointing to existing articles. Eptalon (talk) 10:26, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, we should likely put this discussion on the talk page of 'Son of God' Eptalon (talk) 10:28, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello! For future reference, qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm was more of a non-notable product than a hoax. Thanks, Aster🪻 talk edits 14:31, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Asteralee It's not a product. It's a word, which isn't covered by A4, so I didn't think that would work. Batrachoseps (talk) 14:33, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
The QD was declined. Batrachoseps (talk) 14:34, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Cybersecurity

change

An editor has requested deletion of Cybersecurity, a page you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the page meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Cybersecurity and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the page during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much.
