changeWe like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but an article you created was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 09:32, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Please stop
changePlease stop copying articles from the English Wikipedia with no simplification. They are too complex for this project, whose readers include children and those new to the English language. We are not another English Wikipedia, we are a separate and completely independent project. Articles need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:52, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- Please read Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. Copying less of an article, like Dina Carroll, is not simplifying. It is perfectly acceptable to copy the entire article if you simplify it—shorten complex sentences into simple sentences. Then change complex words into simpler words per the guideline quoted here. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:08, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- As an example, I edited Dina Carroll. The first edit is simplification (please take a look). Next I wikified several words to help readers better understand. Thirdly I added source citations, and so on. At least try to simplify and wikify any new articles. If you need any help or have any questions ask here or post them to Wikipedia:Simple talk. User:Rus793 (talk) 20:28, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: Thanks, can you please help me out with So Close and Only Human (I like this Wikipedia more than the proper one; that's filled up with nasty bitchy people who want to prove a point, unlike you nice people here) C-Sqwad (talk) 21:27, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- We are always happy to help here. Just remember that the purpose of this wikipedia is to make the articles simpler to read. This does not always mean making them shorter, or "chopping them down to size". In fact many times to make it simpler, you need to use more words. Have a look at some of our featured pages to see how this making it simple process can work.--Peterdownunder (talk) 23:55, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Let's make a fresh start
changeI have had to delete a large number of articles that you have imported from the English Wikipedia. These articles are too complex, and it is also a breach of copyright. There are a number of links in the comments above to tell you how to both import a page, and to simplify it to avoid having it deleted here. Most editors will be prepared to help, but they will not do the work for you. Copying lots of pages then expecting others to fix them is not fair. I would suggest you select an article on an album you would like to work on here. You can copy it to your sandbox, and start work on simplifying it. While it is in your sandbox it will not be deleted, and other editors will leave you alone to work on it. If you ask for help, they will be happy to make suggestions, and offer advice. When you think the article is ready, ask another editor to check it. If they think it is ok, they will help you move into article main space. The instructions for setting up a sandbox are here: Wikipedia:User page#How_do_I_create_a_user_subpage?, or I can set one for you if you need it. we would really like to have articles on the albums, they just need to be in Simple English. Any comments, questions, just ask below, and I will answer. --Peterdownunder (talk) 03:18, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Peterdownunder: Shame, I was going to redo them to make them fit in here; I'm not really on here much today; so I'll do that tomorrow, also I think this site should upload pictures most of the articles are looking a bit sorry for themselves with out pictures. --C-Sqwad (talk) 14:51, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- Start slow, one article at a time till you get the hang of it. Pictures...we source all our photos from Wikimedia Commons who watch out for all the copyright problems. It does mean that album covers for example are usually not permitted as to do so breaks copyright law.--Peterdownunder (talk) 23:21, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Just to let you know, I am in the process of undoing some of your changes for the same reasons that others have mentioned above. If you want, any of the articles that have been deleted can be restored and put in your userspace for you to work on. That way, you can get input on whether they are simple enough before moving them to userspace. If you'd like that to be done, just let an admin (such as Peterdownunder or me) know. If there are articles you want to improve, you can also put those in your userspace the same way. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:24, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Simple, right?
changeC-Sqwad, I see some nice improvements in your most recent articles. Just a point on simplification, when you have a semicolon (;) in a sentence that's an indication you have two separate clauses. One definition of a simple simple sentence is one that has a single clause. In the article I just patrolled, Hard Core, the lead sentence was "Hard Core is the debut studio album by American rapper Lil' Kim; it was released on November 12, 1996 by Undeas Recordings and Big Beat Records." So, it is easy to break it into two simple sentences at the semicolon. The other reason you want simpler sentences is that it makes finding source citations so much easier. Remember, a source citation should verify all the information in a sentence. BTW, you asked for help on two articles above that were, by the time I read it, deleted. Let me know what it is you'd like help with. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 15:28, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: Thanks; any thing I upload can you have a look at it please, shame 'bout not being able to have artwork for albums on here and the proper English one can, it don't make sense right? C-Sqwad (talk) 17:06, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it makes a lot of sense. We cannot upload copyrighted images because Simple English Wikipedia has decided to follow the copyright laws. Copyright is a coin with two sides. For anyone who creates something, a book, article, photograph, artwork, song, etc., it gives the creator legal protection for their lifetime, plus 70 years. The other side of the coin is that for someone who simply wants to copy something for a Wikipedia article, it gets in the way. Generally "someone" could do one of two things if they want to use copyrighted materials. First, ask permission of the copyright holder. Yes, it can be a lot of work to track them down and they might say no. Secondly, see if it fits an exception like the "fair use" doctrine. Fair use says you can use a portion of a copyrighted work for things like promoting it, quoting it or teaching in a school. That is a simplified version but the point is the portion has not been clearly defined. If a copyright holder thinks someone used too much and violated copyright it could end up in court. The English Wikipedia allows users to upload copyrighted materials claiming fair use. They also take things down regularly due to complaints. It's a legal quagmire simplewiki chooses to avoid. It is a little inconvenient but it keeps both the project and the editors involved out of hot water. If an editor gets permission from a copyright owner for an image, they then can upload it to Wikimedia Commons. Simplewiki only use images from Commons. Put another way, we can use any image Commons allows to be uploaded.
- As for looking at what you post, patrollers check new pages nearly every day. I'm one of several so I may see them first or I may not. Many of our administrators are also working editors and they all have patroller rights. So it is not unusual for an admin to check over new pages. If you have something questionable you can leave it on your sandbox and I'd be happy to take a look. Other editors here usually tell you if you are doing something wrong and often explain. But they wouldn't bother if they didn't want you to become a better editor. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:03, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Some notes
changeHi, C-Sqwad. I have a couple of notes for you about things I'm seeing in articles you've worked on.
First, before you save an article, look at it to see if anything is broken or missing.
- In The Notorious K.I.M. and K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sexy & Simple), there are broken references. That usually means that you copied part of the English Wikipedia ("enwiki") articles, but left out the parts that had the detail for the references. To fix it, go back to the enwiki articles, find where the detail is, and copy it into the articles here. In Ms. G.O.A.T., there's another kind of broken reference, this one being a probably syntax error.
- We don't have all the same templates that enwiki has. Make sure the article you're working on doesn't have any redlinked templates. An example is The Naked Truth, where it uses the template "Lil' Kim", which we don't have. You can remove the template, bring it over yourself, or ask someone with the importer right to bring it over for you.
- References: if an article doesn't have references, then leave out the "References" heading. If it does have references, be sure to code that heading along with a reflist template.
There are some standard section headings that we name differently here than on enwiki. Instead of "External links" (which you used in The Naked Truth), we use "Other websites". Instead of "See also", we use "Related pages". Please make sure you change those when you bring articles from enwiki.
I noticed that you moved some articles with qualified titles, such as F.A.M.E. (album), to unqualified titles. I understand why you did it, but doing this can cause problems. If someone bring an article from enwiki that links to the unqualified title, they might have intended it to link to something else. If that link ends up either red or linking to a dab page, it's better than linking to the wrong page. We don't have to have the same article titles as enwiki, but it can avoid problems if we do in cases like this.
Finally, the articles I've seen you create still need to be simplified for this Wikipedia. It would probably help to read Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages and Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia to get information on how to do that.
I haven't looked at all your work, but I'm going to stop here. Before you create any more articles, or add text to existing ones, please go back to the ones you've already done and take care of these issues. Feel free to ask if you need help figuring out what needs doing. Thanks again. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:59, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Articles
changeC-Sqwad, are you going back to look over articles that have been improved or patrolled by other editors? Your music articles are using some of the same words that are not getting wikified like American, studio album, recording artist or artist, and several other repetitive words that should be linked. I was hoping you would have noticed and started linking them yourself. Also, several of your copied articles have error messages in the References section. One from Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, which hasn't been patrolled yet, is: Cite error: Invalid). Then copy the entire citation (with the named reference) over the first instance of in the simplewiki article you're submitting. Check in Preview mode and you'll see the error message is gone (if so, then Save the change). Do the same for the other cite error messages in the article. Naming a reference, like "CRIA", is only needed the first time in an article (if the name is all text then with or without the quote marks). After that the shortcut will work with no error message. If you have any questions, just ask. If you want to know more about citing sources, just ask. Most of the regular editors know how to cite sources. Also, don't forget to add attribution when you copy and simplify an enwiki article. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 15:58, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
Introducing...Dina Rae
changeThe problem was an incorrectly coded named reference -- you didn't include the slash on the second use. I fixed it, and also added the missing reflist template.
Also, when an article has references, be sure to code a reflist template. If you leave it out, the refetences still appear, but we don't want the software decidng where to put them. Even if it looks like they're in a good place when you're finished with the article, something could be added that belongs after the reference section, and then the refs would be in the wrong place. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:15, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
An editor has requested deletion of Category:Self-titled debut albums, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/Category:Self-titled debut albums and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Auntof6 (talk) 05:38, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
New articles
changeHello, C-Sqwad. I'm sorry to tell you that you are still not simplifying your articles well enough. I've moved a couple of your new articles to your userspace for further work, but I'm going to delete most of the others. To write here, you need to be able to write in simple language as described at Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia gives more information on how to copy articles from other Wikipedias, including information on how to give attribution, something that is a legal requirement.
Besides simplifying, please preview articles before you save them to be sure you haven't included any templates we don't have here, and to be sure that you haven't broken any references in the process of simplifying. In the article about Whitney Houston's debut album (now at User:C-Sqwad/Whitney Houston (album), there are several broken references. You can see what I'm talking about if you look at references 7, 21, and 23. There are also several others.
These issues have been going on long enough that I'm going to ask you to work in your userspace when you create articles. When you are ready for an article to be created in "mainspace", have someone look it over for you to make sure it is in simple enough language, and that any transwikied articles have been copied and simplified properly and that you have included attribution. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about this. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:02, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- I saw that you moved the Whitney Houston album article back after doing some changes. Unfortunately, the article was still not simplified, so I have moved it back to your userspace. It looks like you resolved the broken reference problem by removing the references. A better way would be to get the original reference from the enwiki article and include it here. Besides those two things, there was no attribution. Attribution is a legal requirement when an article is copied from one Wikipedia to another.
- If you would like some specific comments on what needs to be done with the article, feel free to ask. In any case, please do not move this article back again without having someone check it to be sure that it has been simplified enough: it takes an admin to move between different spaces without leaving a bad redirect behind. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:49, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: How about now? I might need help with the attribution thingy though C-Sqwad (talk) 18:46, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
┌─────────────────────────────────┘
I see that you moved the article from userspace to mainspace. Please do not do that yourself, because you leave behind a bad redirect from userspace to mainspace. Besides that, the issues were not fixed. I asked you not to move it back without having someone check it. Did anyone check it for you? I have moved the article back to userspace again.
You may not have noticed, but above I asked you to work in your userspace to create articles, and have them checked before they are moved to mainspace. You are creating a lot of unattributed articles that are not simple enough, and that is not acceptable. Please stop doing this. It can take time to get used to what is required in articles here. Don't be in a hurry to create a lot of content before you understand what is needed. Create articles in your userspace and have an experienced editor check them for you. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:02, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: I've removed some stuff on the Whitney Houton album can you give it a look over for me please? C-Sqwad (talk) 09:58, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi C-Sqwad. Here's the problem, this article is still too complex. You have at least more 20 like this on the New pages list that need simplifying before they can be marked patrolled. As an example, this is the lead sentence:
"Spirit is the debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Leona Lewis, released by Syco Music in November 2007 in the United Kingdom and Ireland a year after she had won the third series of the UK version of X Factor, and was released elsewhere in early 2008." I see about four simple (or simpler) sentences here. They are:
- Spirit is the debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Leona Lewis.
- (It was) released by Syco Music in November 2007 in the United Kingdom.
- (In) Ireland (it was released) a year after she had won the third series of the UK version of X Factor.
- (Spirit) was released
elsewhereeverywhere else in early 2008.
This is just a general idea, there is probably more specific editing required here and there. A simple sentences is basically a subject, a verb, and it expresses a completed thought. They don't all need to be simple sentences, but the article can be read by a much wider audience if most of the sentences are simple. Think of it as trying on the hat of an administrator or patroller and see if you can make these better before bringing over new ones. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 16:11, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: Hi Rus, I've changed some of it; I've kept it as Spirit is the debut studio album by British recording artist Leona Lewis. It was released by Syco in November 2007 a year after she had won the third series of the UK version of the X Factor and was released everywhere else in early 2008. Does that sound better? C-Sqwad (talk) 19:48, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- It is better. Your first sentence is good—nice and simple. But the second has that pesky word "and" in it. The word "and" here is called a conjunction. It connects two (usually simple) sentences. From a web page I saw some time ago, I came across the acronym "FAN BOYS". It's a memory aid to remember the following conjunctions: For; And; Nor; But; Or; Yet; So. These are the most common conjunctions you will find that join simple sentences. Watch for these and in most cases you can simplify this type of sentence by breaking it at the conjunction.
- So try this: It was released by Syco in November 2007. That was a year after she had won the third series of the UK version of the X Factor.
and(It) was released everywhere else in early 2008. See the difference? You can apply this new skill to this and other articles, either on the New Pages list or in your sandbox. Then use it when you start bringing over other articles. You're doing good, just keep working on it. User:Rus793 (talk) 04:05, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- So try this: It was released by Syco in November 2007. That was a year after she had won the third series of the UK version of the X Factor.
┌─────────────────────────────────┘
FYI: I have moved this article to User:C-Sqwad/Spirit (Leona Lewis album). You can work on it there until it is ready. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:23, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Creating new articles
changeYou're still creating articles that aren't simplified enough. I've asked nicely at least a couple of times, now I'm telling you: when you create a new article, create it in your userspace, and get someone to check it before it goes to mainspace. I am telling you this because many of the articles you have created have not been appropriate for this Wikipedia. They are not in simple language (including the different headings we use), they have categories and templates that this Wikipedia doesn't have or doesn't use, they do not have attribution, and many have broken references from sections of the enwiki articles being removed. These things and more are explained at Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia.
It takes time to learn how to write for this Wikipedia. There's no need to be in a hurry. The articles you created would be great additions here if they were written appropriately. Take the time to learn how to do that. There are people here who would be glad to help you, although they might not be able to reply right away when you ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:22, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- C-Sqwad, I don't want to curb your enthusiasm but take what Aunt said above seriously. Echo (Leona Lewis album) was on the New Pages list (in mainspace) this morning. I went ahead and patrolled it, although it needed some work in the Information section (go look at the article's history to see what I mean). There were template problems with this article that would be time-consuming to sort out. The easiest way was to cut out templates that weren't important to the article. The lead, Information, Reviews and References were kept. The next article you feel is ready to go, let one of us know and we can look it over in your sandbox. Remember, whoever you ask to look at it might take up to a day or more to respond to your message. In that case, I'd suggest you create two or possibly even three sandboxes and work on other articles. That way you can keep working. At the same time slow down a little bit and take advantage of Aunt's instructions to keep these in your userspace until another editor gives you the go-ahead. You can learn a great deal by working with other editors—make the most of it. User:Rus793 (talk) 17:43, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: Just saw your message as soon as I finished my Grace Jones article; when you get a chance can you have a look at her to see if it's alright please? Thanks too C-Sqwad (talk) 18:09, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, no it's not a good idea. We're supposed to be doing this in your userspace for the time being. Per Aunt these need to be OK'd by another user here before posting them to mainspace. Also you reverted my changes to Echo (Leona Lewis album) and put back the templates that are causing errors elsewhere. I'd recommend you revert your change. If you want to (in your sandbox) you can work out the problems and errors those templates are causing. Then, have another editor who is familiar with those templates look them over before you put them back into the article. Patrollers and administrators are accessible here, and without any exceptions I know of, willing to help you. Before you revert another editor, ask them why the change. There is almost always a good reason. If you're used to editors and administrators at enwiki, we aren't them (although we have several escapees here). This project works a bit differently as you will come to learn. I'll help you with any article you ask me to, time permitting, but until Aunt says differently it'll be in your sandbox. Give her a reason why these two escaped your sandbox and ask her to put Grace Jones back in the bottle. For the convenience of editors you ask to help you, you might want to put a link to your sandbox on your (currently blank) userpage. If you want any help with that or creating more sandboxes let me know. I have links to four sandboxes on my userpage but they're not exactly obvious. Let me know when you have an article ready to look at. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:39, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: I didn't revert your edit on Echo (Leona Lewis album); I re-added the track listing; I don't see how that's a problem; the sources send you to the iTunes Store version of the track listing font C-Sqwad (talk) 18:58, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- When you change something back after another editor changed it, that is a reversion. You "reverted" to what you had there before. As I explained above, what you put back is causing error messages elsewhere (see the categories at the bottom). Please, change it back as soon as you read this. The article is fine without them. But if you want to correct the errors in the templates, copy the markup to your sandbox. It's time-consuming to go through template code a line at a time, but you'll need to in order to fix these. I should have but I didn't check the sources. Thanks for pointing this out. The iTunes Store would need to be replaced as it is selling something. Put on your to-do list a good thorough read of Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Just because something is in print doesn't make it a good source to quote. Per the guideline "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." Back to the present problem, after reverting yourself, work on your next article in your sandbox. A generic sandbox (versus one that is titled based on a particular article) works best. Let me know if you need any help. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:27, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: I see what you mean; the accessdate thing init? I've removed it. C-Sqwad (talk) 19:10, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- No, that wasn't what I was talking about. Please put it back to the patrolled version (I'll check the sources for problems when I finish the article I'm working on). If you want, copy all the template code I removed to your sandbox to work on it there but don't leave it in mainspace. Right now the article is making duplicate arguments in template calls (see the categories at the bottom). While that's not going to bring the whole project to a screeching halt, it an unnecessary set of errors for someone else to have to clean up. You still have a nice article without them. Just because enwiki has them does not mean we need them. If you absolutely need them to be in the article (remember other editors will edit the article), then put back clean copies free of errors. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:41, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: What is the correct way to put the track listing for Echo (Leona Lewis album) as I am totally confused? C-Sqwad (talk) 19:03, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- Understand, the problem was already in the article you copied. There are two errors I found and it's too time-consuming to track them both down now. Copy the deleted templates to a sandbox and you can work on them there. I remember there are two person #14s in one of them so it's a duplicate call error. The other, I don't remember specifically. By cutting out these superfluous templates the errors are fixed. Right now I'm working on the citation errors. The first one I looked at was a disaster for sources. The first three I checked failed verification. The fourth and fifth were a case of synthesis. I stopped checking at that point. These articles you're copying need to be spot checked for these kinds of problems. Finding any means it should be checked in detail. This is the problem with rapidly copypasting articles from enwiki here. Just simplifying (and that still needs work) may not be enough. In addition to simplifying and wikifying them to Simple English Wikipedia standards, they need to have authoritative source citations. They need to verify the statement they're cited for. I can't work with you full time on these problems but I can help show you what to look for and how to fix some of these. But you can't turn these kinds of articles loose on this wiki. I'll check some more of them but if they're all as bad as the one I checked this morning, we have a major problem here. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:18, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: yeah please show me C-Sqwad (talk) 19:20, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- I have two conversations going with you on two talk pages. OK, for one, in Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up the source BestBuy Pink Friday: Roman... [CD & DVD $18.99] is a commercial source selling something (the CD in this case). This is not a reliable source per WP:RS. Now I see that while I'm trying to answer you you're adding another unreliable source, iTunes Store to an article. Please, while I try to figure out which of your articles had all the bad sources it it, take out the iTunes Store reference and remove the same ref from all the articles you're working on. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:44, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I had time to find the article I was referring to earlier. It was on enwiki, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up and fortunately you didn't copy the worst of the source citations. I hope you took the time to read the Reliable sources guideline. If so you realize why sources that sell the product are not considered reliable sources. Likewise blogs and social networking sites are not reliable. These are places where anyone can say anything about a subject. The in a nutshell box has: "Articles should be based on reliable (trustworthy), third-party (not connected to the subject), published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." This is why several sources were deleted from articles. User:Rus793 (talk) 22:24, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Creating articles part 2
change@C-Sqwad:, you have to set up one or more sandboxes now. Aunt has been patient with you but you cannot create any more pages in mainspace without having them OK’d first. You need to take this seriously. Now, do you know how to set up sandboxes or would you like help? Stop everything else and attend to this. I didn’t know if you had worked something out with Auntof6 but now I find out you haven’t. I assumed you knew this but when an administrator tells you that your articles must be OK’d first before they can be posted, you need to follow that direction. So we’re clear, set up Wikipedia:Sandboxes and work there. For the time being no new articles in mainspace. Tell me when you think you have an article ready to look at. I’ll check back here shortly. User:Rus793 (talk) 13:40, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- I activated your userpage for you and set up three sandboxes. So now you have a place to work on your next articles(s). Let's see if we can get you up to speed. They are:
- Sandbox 1
- Sandbox 2
- Sandbox 3
User:Rus793 (talk) 14:16, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: Thanks and what do I need to type to submit it for it to be real if you get what I mean? C-Sqwad (talk) 20:31, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- First, make sure you've followed all the steps in Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia including attribution. Next, simplify the article per Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. I'm including these guidelines again so you have a ready reference. Any complicated words or phrases, either link them to Simplewiki articles, Simple Wikipedia terms, or explain them in parentheses. Need any help with this just ask. Don't assume the reader knows all the words you know. Don't talk down to readers, but make the sentences easy to comprehend. Even highly educated readers appreciate easy to read articles. Check the sources to make sure they are reliable (at least spot check them) and that they're actually there. Sometimes you will come across dummied up source citations. Web sources have a bad habit of not being there after a while (called link rot). They'll give you a 404 not found error. Delete those. Articles should be sourced, but with reliable sources. About this time turn around and read the article as if you were a reader. If you think it's good then ask me or another editor. Once OK'd by an editor it can be posted to articlespace. User:Rus793 (talk) 20:59, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Rus793: can you please have a look at C-Sqwad/The Entertainer (Alesha Dixon album) and C-Sqwad/Fired Up (Alesha Dixon album) for me please? C-Sqwad (talk) 21:11, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- Looking at the first one now. Just a note, watch blogs as in most cased they should not be used as source citations. See notes in the comments section. Go over it to see what I changed and if you have questions, ask. BTW, iTunes, Amazon, etc. are not reliable sources. Neither are fan pages or anything too close to the source (the subject, her or his producers, etc.). Look it over for any typos, punctuation, capitalization. Then it's OK to post it. It doesn't have to be perfect, other editors will catch any minor mistakes. But it shouldn't make work for other editors to have to fix things that should have been fixed before it was posted. Are you starting to get the idea? Do you want to look over C-Sqwad/Fired Up (Alesha Dixon album) and see if you can apply some of these same ideas before I look it over? I have to go offline for a while but should be back on later. I'll look at it then. User:Rus793 (talk) 22:16, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Notability and albums
changeAll albums must show notability. Most of the articles you brought over do show notability (a set of criteria we use to determine if a subject deserves its own article). A community consensus was reached earlier this year regarding albums that were not determined to be notable, but had an artist's page: Wikipedia:Simple_talk/Archive_111#Our recent spate of new album stubs: a proposal. The article Whitney Dancin' Special fits this criteria (found in Wikipedia:Notability (music)). In particular the article is missing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." There are plenty of fan pages, blogs, sites selling the music, etc., but I could not find any reliable sources. It is an obscure topic, as the album was only released in Japan and nearly 30 years has passed. I'm going to redirect it per the community consensus, but if you can find reliable sources we can revisit this and if the sources are good, bring the article back (it's in the history of the article, now a redirect). There are a couple of options we can discuss if you like. Any questions, just ask. User:Rus793 (talk) 22:50, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: I see what you mean; I've added another source to User:C-Sqwad/Fired Up (Alesha Dixon album) (AllMusic's review of Alesha Dixon herself but it mentions a teeny tiny bit of Fired Up like who she worked with; why it weren't released in the UK; where it was released) but kept the one 'bout Thailand as I dunno what we'd go with on that one; also how do I submit it for a review so it could be published on here as a proper article? C-Sqwad (talk) 12:31, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- I looked at the enwiki article this was taken from. You're starting to get the idea with simple sentences. Also, you very wisely did not use the poor source citations already there. You went to AllMusic. I reworded the statement to better match the source. Compare the two and see if you agree. You can change it, just make sure the source verifies the entire statement in the article. I deleted the second source, it is selling the product again, but also has a '404 file not found' message. I replaced it with two more sources. Look it over to double-check everything and look at what I changed, then it's OK to post it. User:Rus793 (talk) 15:50, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: That's good; so do I just click on move and change it to Fired Up (Alesha Dixon album)? Also can you have a look at user:C-Sqwad/Spirit (Leona Lewis album) as I dunno how much more simpler I need to change it to? C-Sqwad (talk) 16:03, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- What I wanted you to do was get used to looking over the page and start creating a mental checklist for articles. Also, get a feeling for writing in simpler language and using links. As for moving the article, you're moving from userspace to articlespace and the move might not work properly, in fact, I suspect it won't work correctly. Better and safer is to create the article and copy all the code from your userspace article to the new article. Then, if you're ready to, add at least one category. You can request the userpage be deleted once you have the new article posted. One thing is that you wouldn't need to to this if you copied your next article into the generically-named Sandbox1 (2, and 3 if you need them). Then you can shuffle one article after another through them without deleting the sandbox. Let me know if you have any questions. BTW, I indented your message above per Help:Wiki markup. It makes it easier for everyone to follow a conversation. User:Rus793 (talk) 16:36, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Notability and albums part deux
changeThe article Control (Janet Jackson album) seems to have missed the sandbox. I must have missed the message it was ready to look at. Like the Whitney album article, it isn't claiming notability. However, you'll find what you need in the enwiki article you copied it from—the RIAA certification and source. While all the lists aren't necessary to the simplewiki article, the certification is important because it helps make the article notable. The Year end charts don't hurt either. Copy those to the article and it should be OK to patrol. There are some common links to add to these articles, studio album, American recording artist, released, etc. One subtlety is American. If it's a person use American, if having to do with the country then it's American. This article could use a link for Joseph Jackson (it's a red link but that's ok because it's a likely future article) and manager. These are kinds of words you know and don't think about, but you can't assume our readers would know them. Let me know when you have another ready in the sandbox. Be patient and let Aunt tell you when you're OK to post them directly. Keep up the improvements. User:Rus793 (talk) 21:14, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- @C-Sqwad: I see you've been working on the Janet Jackson article but it's not yet showing notability, or not as well as it could. Copy the certifications from the enwiki article. I'll check back a little later. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:39, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: which one we talking 'bout? C-Sqwad (talk) 18:48, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- Control (Janet Jackson album). If you only copied the RIAA certification and source it would meet the notability requirements. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:35, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
OK, you can post Control (Janet Jackson album). I've shown you what attribution looks like and mentioned a couple of times that the instructions are in Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia. I'm not sure I could explain the process any better. Just put the template on the talk page of every article you copy from En.wiki and fill in the two blank areas. If you have questions, post them here. Put the attribution in the talk page after creating the page in articlespace. Look at Talk:Janet Jackson (album) for another example. In the comments section, put something like "attribution" or "transwiki attribution", etc. User:Rus793 (talk) 23:26, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
OK, you can post 20 Y.O. (Janet Jackson album). If you are going to include statements like "it received mixed" (favorable, unfavorable) "reviews", I suggest you cite a source. For your albums, metacritic is the place to look. You'll notice I used a citation template (). You can find more at Wikipedia:Citing sources. BTW, if you find yourself waiting on me or someone else to OK an article, you could work on setting up a userpage—tell the community a little about yourself, what you like, what articles you plan to work on, etc. Look at the userpages of other editors for some ideas. Also, you could go back and add attribution to articles already brought over. Just a couple of suggestions. User:Rus793 (talk) 23:51, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Rus793: is the attribution thing the { { based on| } } thing? 14:59, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. In addition to the instructions in Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia, there are more detailed instructions in Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. There, the template is one of two mentioned. Use either one but use it consistently when you bring over pages from En.wiki. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 16:21, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- PS @Rus793: can you have a look at user:C-Sqwad/Spirit (Leona Lewis album) too please? C-Sqwad (talk) 15:47, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- I looked at it. What's with the single run-on sentence in the lead section? What happened to wikifying (linking) words not in Basic English? You need to show you can do these things without the supervision of another editor. Look, you can be as good an editor here as you want to be. Before you ask me to look at this or others, put your best efforts into showing you are learning how this works. It isn't just what I show you here, it's also what you see in other pages edited by other patrollers and our administrators (who are also editors). You can read up on guidelines and policies at Wikipedia:Rules. When I or another editor refers to a guideline, read it so you understand the point being made. Keep a list of bookmarks, or a cheatsheet (I do both). What you see that you don't readily understand, ask a question. For example, what I don't know I can either find out or point to someone who can answer it. For example, if you had questions regarding categories I'd tell you to ask Auntof6. That's her wheelhouse. User:Rus793 (talk) 16:49, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- PS @Rus793: can you have a look at user:C-Sqwad/Spirit (Leona Lewis album) too please? C-Sqwad (talk) 15:47, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

You are continuing to create articles in mainspace that are not simple enough and do not have attribution. As far as I can tell, you have not had them reviewed by anyone. Stop doing that. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:07, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Attribution
changeOK, Talk:Portfolio (Grace Jones album) was placing attribution with a template on the talk page of the article. I feel as if we've won an award together. One small point, however, you missed the version number. If it isn't included in the second blank area, the template automatically links to the revision history, which isn't as accurate. So it looks complete, but it isn't. You can obtain the revision number of the En.wiki article by clicking on Tools> Permanent link on the sidebar to the left of the artice. The url will change to include the version number. For example, the url for the En.wiki article is:
. Copy the part beginning with "oldid=" (I marked the text in red). That number is what you want to copy to the second blank part of the template like this:
You could just copy this to the talk page but I'd suggest you go to the En.wiki article and click the "Permanent link" link. That way you can learn how to do this on your own. If you wouldn't mind, go ahead and fix the Talk:Portfolio (Grace Jones album). Let me know if you have questions. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:04, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- I just noticed you correctly edited Portfolio (Grace Jones album). That's all there is to it—nice job. Remember to do this in articlespace and not your sandbox. As I suggested earlier, creating a cheatsheet of templates you use regularly helps. I use a notepad file with a large number of templates, markup and shortcuts. I simply copy and paste the templates right into whatever I'm editing. User:Rus793 (talk) 21:15, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Categories in userspace
changeAgain, please be careful not to use categories while articles are in a sandbox. If you aren't sure what categories are, please ask. On at least two occasions administrators have had to edit your userspace to remove categories. That's not particularly good. Also, as I mentioned before, it is better to add attribution to the talk page in article space. After an editor, me in this case, gives you an OK to publish an article, be careful not to add compound or complex sentences or words that were not there when it was looked at. I think you're getting the hang of this but we need to work on some more articles in userspace. User:Rus793 (talk) 13:44, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
