Welcome change

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

If you need help just click here and type {{helpme}} and your question and someone will reply to you shortly. You can also check out the help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

There is a lot you can do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that have not been created yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Just remember you can not directly copy them. They must be simplified. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us. Happy changing! Thanks for the welcome! Kaseng55 (talk) 19:43, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Redwarn change

Hey so to answer your question no. I made a few changes to get it to work for me but we have not implemented it on simple. I do have a request in to see if we can get it. Da LambTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 05:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alright. Kaseng55 (talk) 05:30, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcoming Users change

Hello. Please do not welcome IPs. The only ones we welcome are named users after they have made some decent changes that improve and do not vandalize articles, talk pages, etc. IPs are not users by wp definition. Da LambTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:32, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@PotsdamLamb That's not accurate; there's a special template for that purpose which Kaseng55 was using: Template:Welcome-anon2. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:52, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Not welcoming and just warning them is just like feeding the trolls. Kaseng55 (talk) 23:09, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Actually it is accurate L&F. IP addresses are numbers and change at anytime. They could have that address now, reboot whatever device the are using and reconnect and get a different IP address. 90% of IP addresses are dynamic. I refer you to this essay EN:Wikipedia:IP_addresses_are_not_people. It pretty much consensus to not issue welcome templates on IP addresses for this reason. There are many templates and the IP address may only be used once (i.e. GRP or another LTA). If you welcome IP users everytime they make their first edit, that is all you will do 24/7/365 as a lot of the articles are edited by IP users. This is the log of the past 6 hours of just IP users making edits https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?userExpLevel=unregistered&hidebots=1&limit=500&days=0.25&damaging__maybebad_color=c3&damaging__likelybad_color=c4&damaging__verylikelybad_color=c5&urlversion=2. The bots also do not welcome IP users for this same reason. It is only registered users after a few edits, or some with just one edit. Most IPs do not get warning either because they make good and valuable changes. Sometimes we just have to go back over and correct the sections, but very few get warnings. If they are the LTAs as a lot of newish users do not know who they are they would just be feeding the trolls and we don't want to do that either. We want to WP:Deny them. (P.S. I also welcomed new IPs who made edits on enWP and got slammed for it so I stopped). Da LambTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:17, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I'll just stop welcoming them as IP addresses can change over time. And it's sometime a waste of time.
And isn't welcoming IP addresses 24/7/365 considered gaming the system? Kaseng55 (talk) 23:20, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean by "gaming the system"? What I was referring to is basically if that is all someone did, they would be doing that all the time they are on wikipedia and would not have time to do much else. I realize some editors do not know what 24/7/365 is. It is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So theoretically you would have one day off every four years lol. Da LambTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:35, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think this is hilarious. Kaseng55 (talk) 23:37, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Cetacean surfacing behaviour change

I have tagged this article for quick deletion. Nonsense such as this can be quickly deleted per the G2 criteria. It is not necessary to start an RFD for this. Thank you. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 23:54, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

You've got mail! change

User talk:World Wide Book Nerd change

You left a "final warning" at User talk:World Wide Book Nerd, but the user had only made one edit. In the future, please start with the lowest level warning (unless the vandalism is particularly bad like hate speech or inserting obscene images repeatedly), and then move up to higher levels if they keep vandalizing. Also, a bot had already warned them for that edit, so you didn't need to warn them again. Anyway, thank you for helping out here! Lights and freedom (talk) 02:10, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes, accounts are created just to be used for vandalism only. That is the problem. Kaseng55 (talk) 02:32, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) In this case, the user has only made one edit here. It's often difficult to tell whether or not an account is vandalism-only from just one edit. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 02:41, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, that’s just in case the user tries to continue to vandalize. Kaseng55 (talk) 02:44, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

July 2023 change

Hello, Kaseng55! Here at Simple English Wikipedia, we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "X-Plane". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 06:31, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Kaseng55. It looks like "X-Plane" was derived from the English Wikipedia or another version of Wikipedia. If that is indeed the case, please make sure you add some form of attribution, either in your change summary or on the article's talk page. This must be done, even for derivative works, or the article will be deleted in time. More instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 06:32, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

GRP change

You seem to have ran into GRP recently. I’m guessing one of the admins has already explained some about it, but I’ve sent you an email detailing more. Thanks! Illusion Flame (talk) 00:16, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disruption of this page change

It seems someone has been putting nasty stuff here and I've reverted it - just letting you know since I don't want to ghost ping you. 2600:1700:7410:1E40:0:0:0:1337 (talk) 03:28, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's an LTA. See Long-term abuse/Projects.
Just someone with serious problems doing this since 2005. Kaseng55 (talk) 03:30, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Mhm, thank you!
It's sad that some people just have nothing better to do. 2600:1700:7410:1E40:0:0:0:1337 (talk) 03:41, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Deleting user talk pages change

Hello, Kaseng55. I saw that you nominated one or more user talk pages for quick deletion. Be aware that user talk pages are usually not deleted if they have had any valid talk on them so please check that before nominating. Thanks, and feel free to let me know if you have any questions about this. -- Auntof6 (talk) 07:12, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rollback change

Rollback saves space in the database by not duplicating the data like undo or twinkle does. it just sets the history back without posting anything. fr33kman 15:21, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
