June 2022

change

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make changes here. But pages should not be moved, like you did to Sansi language, without a good reason. They need to have a name that is accurate and simple, and that people will recognize. Wikipedia has some guidelines to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if users are talking about moving a page, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you have a question about this, please ask on Simple talk. Thank you. We cannot move the pages, since the language and the people are two separate articles. You are free to create an article for the missing page. You can always add one as Sansi people. PotsdamLamb (talk) 00:00, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I need to do it because Sansi is also a ethnic group in Punjab. Sansi is not the fitting name of the article. Sansi language is much more better as it shows the accurate name. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 00:01, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Then please go to WP:Simple Talk and get consensus and explain why you need to do it. There are different ways to do it without creating a redirect that will potentially as repercussions in the future. As of now just typing in Sansi will take you to an article you chose and not where it should be. Thank you. PotsdamLamb (talk) 00:05, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@PotsdamLamb: Just a comment. Consensus is not needed for renaming an article, unless it's controversial, and I don't think this should be. After all, using the word "language" makes it more clear that the article is about about the language, not the ethnic group; it's also how it's named on enwiki. If somebody wants to write an article about the ethnic group, then they can make Sansi into a disambiguation page, but for now, it's okay. Lights and freedom (talk) 05:09, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Lights and freedom It is the template that put in the language of consensus, however, since the language and the people are two different things, I personally feel it should be 2 different articles. You do not see too many disambiguation pages on simple. This also falls into a brand new user making a large change such as this, after receiving warnings and not just from me. Thank you for your comments though and I appreciate it. PotsdamLamb (talk) 05:26, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@PotsdamLamb I don't think this template should have been used, especially because they moved the article to match the enwiki title. Also I don't understand what you mean by "it should be 2 different articles", because the article they wrote was just about the language. There is not an article yet about the ethnic group. Lights and freedom (talk) 05:37, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Lights and freedom Please read the original comment I made ....You are free to create an article for the missing page. You can always add one as Sansi people...... They also did not make the language article, that article was made in 2008. They should have also followed Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Providing_the_correct_name as was also mentioned in the comments. I am not looking to argue this with anyone. I appreciate your comments, however, I am following what it says. They should have made it Sansi (language) and then if they wanted created Sansi (people). Also,, if you noticed, the article is named Sansi language. As I was merely informing them because of the reasons I listed above, I am unsure why you even posted a comment to me as this was a done deal 3 days ago and is settled and is ok in my book. So at this point, lets let it go please. PotsdamLamb (talk) 05:52, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@PotsdamLamb So, you're saying that they should have named it Sansi (language) instead of Sansi language? There is no policy that says this is better, and you did not tell them this. Most language pages are actually written without parentheses, such as German language and Spanish language.
I am commenting here, because if someone gets warnings for something that is not a problem, they may get discouraged, so this should be avoided. Lights and freedom (talk) 06:04, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
” If there are two or more articles that share the same or similar titles, this is handled by making one of them a disambiguation page, explained more fully at Wikipedia:Disambiguation. The other articles will then often have extra words in parentheses added to the title to help tell them apart.” per link above. I have nothing more to say on this subject. Have a good day or night (whichever the case). PotsdamLamb (talk) 06:08, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Kharkiv People's Republic" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 06:27, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ok, but it was in Draft. It wasn't actually there on the real page. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 16:07, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I want you to understand that nothing should be copied from EN. Copies from drafts or past versions will also be removed. MathXplore (talk) 05:35, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 17:02, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are unusual or hard to understand in articles, as you did to "Iranian peoples". There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Changes made to articles should not go against it without a good reason. A blog post by one individual 4 years ago is not a valid population reference. Also, the additions of the people you added need to be referenced in the article. If you could do both of those, making sure it is not one individuals blog post, then you will be good to go. July 2022

change

Welcome to Wikipedia. You might not have done it on purpose, but your recent change removed helpful information from Wikipedia. We ask that you do not remove things from pages, as you did to "Gawar-Bati language", without giving a good reason in the change summary. If it was a mistake, do not worry. The part of the article you removed has been put back. If you want to try things out, please use the sandbox. If you would like to learn how to help Wikipedia, please see the welcome page. Sorry about that.  Y Reverted. Hockeycatcat (talk) 13:48, 25 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

RFD tag

change

Please do not remove deletion requests from articles, as you did to "Battle of Uri (2022)". If you think the article should be kept, you can comment on the discussion page, Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Battle of Uri (2022). If the result of the discussion is to keep the article, the closing administrator will remove the deletion request. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 11:08, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

@MathXplore But I was putting a redirect. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 11:09, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Unblock request

change

You have been blocked from changing Wikipedia for disruptive editing after you created an artice you later admitted was a hoax.

Once the block has ended you can make helpful changes. Please read Wikipedia's blocking policy and remember that adding spam, making changes that do not have a neutral point of view, making personal attacks on others, not respecting other people's privacy, and vandalizing pages are not allowed. If you do any of these things, you will be blocked again.

If you think this block is unfair, you can ask to be unblocked by adding {{Unblock|your reason here}} below. If you cannot do this or the reason is private please send an e-mail to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org and an administrator will look at your reason and reply. You may want to read our guide to unblock requests before asking to be unblocked. Operator873 connect 20:40, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators said no to this unblock request. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not unblock the user without a good reason. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I admitted that I created a hoax article, but it was a misunderstanding. I changed the name of the article to "Counterattacks in Uri" and then removed all the content from the page. Can you unblock me? Don't have to, just asking. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 21:38, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Decline reason:

As you were blocked indefinitely from an article on the English Wikipedia, a rule we have called "one-strike" that applies to you. The idea is one strike and you are out. Knowingly creating a hoax article is extremely disruptive and that is your one strike, so I agree that the block was placed correctly. You do not give a good reason to be unblocked either, so you have not convinced me that it is best for the project to have you back editing again. --Ferien (talk) 17:57, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 18:29, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Note that if you wish, you can make unblock requests in the future, but I won't review any further unblock requests. --Ferien (talk) 19:34, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok it helps a lot, but will anybody else? Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 19:36, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if you make a future unblock request, another admin will review it. Just be aware that making multiple unblock requests that keep getting declined can be seen as disruptive and result in talk page access being revoked. --Ferien (talk) 19:43, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok understood, thanks. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 19:43, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Can you at least change the block end to maybe a year?

Decline reason:

I have declined your unblock request because you did not address why you were blocked, and why the block should be lifted. Keep in mind that an indefinite block does not mean an infinite or permanent block from the project.— *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 12:16, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 14:39, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm not fully satisfied with the answers you gave to Eptalon below. The concerns raised at the deletion discussion, particularly those regarding the nonexistent people and organizations, were never addressed. If you said that these battles were real, why did you have to resort to using fake names, and sources that do not mention the battle directly?— *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 12:16, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Fehufanga because it's Simple English Wikipedia, why would I put "Counterattacks and Conflicts in Uri" when it's for Simple English? Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 13:09, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Question

change

Hello Muhafiz-e-Pakistan, I do have a question: You probably know that there were at least three wars involving issues surrounding Kashmir-state. To my knowledge, questions regarding Kashmir have been raised at least since the Partition of India (in 1948 or 1949). As I am not from the region, I do not know how stable the situation there currently is. A first glance tells me that probably 30.000 people (or more) were killed in these wars. What were your thoughts, when you created an article about a battle that didn't take place, an article which stayed on Wikipedia for about a week? - Most of us are here to create an encyclopedia, and most often, finding a tone that is neutral, and doesn'favor one side is difficult enough. An editor creating articles on battles that didn't happen really doesn't help. Eptalon (talk) 08:26, 8 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Eptalon The battles actually did happen, throughout 2019-2022, Kashmiri militants have taken control of Uri and with Indian troops retaking the town. This has been reported by many Indian news channels. Uri is near the Line of Control, where Pakistani-backed militants are located and with the help of the Pakistani military they cross into the border. I'm from Gilgit-Baltistan, a territory under Pakistani control and which is part of the Kashmir region (even though nobody here is Kashmiri). This conflict is noted as the Insurgency in Kashmir and nearly 200 militant groups are fighting for the independence of Kashmir or the incorporation of Kashmir into Pakistan. I've looked into the Kashmir conflict for many years now, so that's why I created the article, taking some of the sources and using them as evidence that this battle took place. Indian channels have reported about skirmishes in Uri for nearly a decade now, and I even have visited the Line of Control (the de facto border between India and Pakistan in the Kashmir region) in both Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir (another region which is under Pakistani control and is part of the Kashmir region. So thanks for asking. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 09:53, 8 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
