I have noticed we are desperately thin on Oversighters. Fortunately, after discussing it with them, I'm excited to nominate enfcer to assume a new role. I've found enfcer not only meets, but exceeds, the community trust for this position and they also have the speedy response and accessibility I feel is crucial for this role. Enfcer would be ideal as an OSer and I feel like the community would agree. Now is the time to increase our number of OSers from 3 to 4 immediately. Thank you for all you do, enfcer. Questions
change- What is your opinion of Vogon poetry? Operator873talkconnect 16:27, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I think the only correct answer is 42 --Enfcer (talk) 16:48, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- In what case will you use regular revision deletion instead of Oversight, once gaining access to Oversight? Naleksuh (talk) 18:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Oversight usage is very limited, It can only be used when Personally Identifying information is released Certain Libelous remarks, and such. Its use is very limited more times then not it will be appropriate to use Rev-Del instead. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:04, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I have looked through your log of revision deletions. Most of it seems normal, but I am a bit confused by this. I am a bit confused by this, as RfDs do not usually lead to revision deletion, but to full page deletion (when a new page can be created over it). Can you explain thought process here? Naleksuh (talk) 18:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I Rev-Del'ed the entries and turned it into a redirect. This from my understanding is the preferred way, as it leaves edit history intact, and deletes the information. Creating a new page and the redirect would have deleted the attribution from what was created before The way I did it, it keeps someone in the future from deleting everything, and accidentally restoring it, which was the subject of the RfD in the first place. I asked a couple of other Admins, and while this was the harder way of doing it, they did not see an issue with doing it that way. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:04, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- If I want you to oversight something, is it best to post on your talk page? Naleksuh (talk) 18:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- You should never post Oversight requests on wiki, as it creates more that needs to be removed and oversighted. All requests should with be via Email, IRC or other communication channels. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:04, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Is Bernie Sanders once again asking for your Support? Naleksuh (talk) 18:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- While I try and keep my political views to myself isn't Bernie out of the race? -- Enfcer (talk) 19:04, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- But Yes, Bernie does ask for everyone's support. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:21, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- One official use of an oversighter is the "removal of non-public personal information". Some information can be found via search engines that have aggregated personal data, such as Spokeo, which is publicly available but isn't necessarily publicly disclosed since many people don't know such a source existed. If someone were to include information on an article from there, regardless if it is used to attack or if it used in a neutral way, would you consider that to be information that is worthy of removal as an oversighter? ~Junedude433talk 14:47, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- @Junedude433: I have no direct experience as an editor or as an admin with this type of issue, but my understanding is is this would qualify as the link, links to information that is subject to protection as they did not maker their identities public. There are many sites as you mentioned that has personal information out there, so that is but one example. But not having dealt with this before even in an Admin Capacity where I could potentially Rev-Del the information pending oversight, I would likely contact another oversighter and ask for their opinion. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:50, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Fair enough. I know it is an unlikely scenario, but it's unique, special scenarios like those that people always must defer to their superiors to ensure things are dealt with properly. I accept your answer. ~Junedude433talk 00:04, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Definitely! We could use another active oversighter, especially someone with the experience and trustworthiness of Enfcer. Thank you for volunteering, Vermont (talk) 15:29, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. Absolutely. I'm confident in Enfcer's ability to serve the community well. Hiàn (talk) 15:47, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Went back and forth on this one after they closed an RfX that they were involved in. As long as they don't OS stuff for personal reasons (not that I can even think of what that would be) then there is no reason they couldn't do this job. It isn't rocket science. -Djsasso (talk) 19:05, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Yes, why not? It's good to have more OSes than the bare minimum, around 5-6 is a healthy number. Enfcer will fill the role perfectly.-BRP ever 00:48, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Having Enfcer as an oversighter would reduce my workload substantially! Enfcer would be the most active user looking at issues that require OS, and letting me know about them. Every time the requests have been valid. Protecting people's privacy is an important task, especially when we have such a large number of younger contributors. I strongly support the request. - It is always good to have more people with the tools. In the case of Enfcer, I see no reason why he should not get them. "Adminship is about trust", I trust him to use the tools wisely. --Eptalon (talk) 05:51, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
